Micro Photo Probl

My micro photo is stuck on the recovery screen and every option i pick just freezes it...when i clicked Reload Firmware it just sat with the "Erasing Firmware.." message up for hours. I tired to re-install the firmware from my computer and it fails every time. Help please...

I am also having the exact same problem. My dad got it for my son for xmas, xmas day it froze at the building library part. Toay, just over a week later it is frozen on the logo screen, making an odd noise.Reading previous threads this may denote a HDD failure!!!I have also tried reboot, format all, reload firmware and clean up. Always stops there. On the Zenmicrophoto I have there is no reset button. Whilst simultaniously?holding the switch at the on position and inserting the battery gets you to the rebot etc screen. I have had enough of this but worse is that my Dad paid a fortune for this and my son is without his present. Ok I can send it back, blah, blah, blah but when you pay out good cash you expect it to work.Anyway, sorry to go on but if anyone else out there has any other possible solutions then that would be fantastic.:manmad:

• Zen micro photo proble

ok so i've had my zen micro photo since last summer, which means that the creative lab crew wont help me since my purchase is over a year old. lame. well i had a minor 2 ft drop with my buddy, and it wont work. when i turn it on, it freezes on the "creative" screen. then when i get to the option window so i can attempt to clean it out, it wont work, i would like to say that it freezes also on all the options, but i cant really tell. those are i guess minor problems. i dont really know, but it also will occassionally make this odd "skipping" noise when i take the battery out and replace it so it will restart. this kid at Best Buy said that it has a small rotating disk on the inside and that it could of cracked or isnt on properly. but this is a drag. and you would think that i could just plug my baby into the computer with the USB cord, but now it wont even respond to the computer, or the computer wont recognize it. if you have any advice that would be swell.

i asked that same question because my zen micro broke no responded, but i did get a microphoto and have not had any problems yet.

• Zen Micro Photo Probl

Hi, so i just baught a Zen micro photo like a week ago, and its pretty sweet, the only thing is, whenever i want to look at pictures, the music sto
ps.
Is there any way to look at picutres while listening to music?!?

No, the Microphoto cant do a picture slideshow to music. Its normal for the music to stop when you go into pictures; and it appears on every player. It could be updated in a new firmware.... we'll see.

• Media Player 11/empty PC Library/unable to transfer, import, sync - Micro Photo proble

I've just received a new computer and had to download my Micro software all over again - Media Source 5, burner, playsforsure. Running WMP . Windows XP Professional with SP 2. ?My problem -- my PC Library is empty. I can't seem to get the music from my mp3 to PC Library - by importing, transferring or syncing!? I have changed my settings in Sync Mgr to PC Library but cannot change the arrow to go right to left (ie - from my player to PC Library). What do I do? I've tried dragging music and playlists over from player to PC Library when in Organizer, but it won't let me (but it did before). Do I need to roll back to WMP 0? I didn't have any problems when using that on my old computer. If so, how do I do it's? My player is recognised, no problems with the firmware. No problems with the software either, as far as I can tell, other than having an empty PC Library and not being able to transfer music over from my player. Any suggestions?

i see a lot of threads about charging the battery.
i sell high end digital cameras, have for 6 years now. i'm not talking the stuff you find at fry's but the really high end stuff.
this stuff also uses proprietary lithium ion batteries (actually the only thing proprietary is the connectors, all cells come from the same manufacturers)
the key to lithium ion batteries is:
) let it charge overnight the first time you charge it
2) it takes about 3 full charges and full drains to get the proper life out of it
3) they dont have memory, ever. i have several abused lithium ion camera batteries that can attest to this
4) replace after 8 months without fail
my point is, don't stress over it. my micro only got about 7 hours of continous playback with eq on and it just sitting there, and not much more with eq off. the player's life on a single charge and constant crashing when switching off are the only reasons why i returned it on sunday for an ipod mini.

• Zen micro photo... biggggg probl

need help desperately! my micro photo won't turn on aprt from when i use the mains adapter. the battery is defiantely in and is fully charged because i charged the whole of last night, but when the mains adapter is in instead of having your green battery symbol in the top right hand corner theres just the plug symbol. basically it looks like it would if you plugged in your zen and took the battery out, suggesting its the battery but when i unplug it it stays on for about 6-7 seconds still without the battery symbol and then turns itself off?!!! it wont even work if i plug it into my pc! which really annoys me cus i want to put my new seasick steve album onto it but i cant!!! help!!!

Dude. My son just complained to me about the same thing. His zen photo micro would play normally and then shut off without warning after a few minutes. We ruled out it was his battery because luckily his original zen micro was handed down to his sister. We did the battery switch and sure enough, sister's kept going while his exhibited the same symptoms. We then had to believe it was either software or hardware. The least costliest thing to do was to go and reflash the firmware.
I went to Creative site and downloaded the latest version firmware and 5 minutes later, he is back up and running. Good luck.

• Zen Micro Photo 8gb have headphone jack probl

I am going to purchase a zen micro photo, but only if the headphone jack problem is fixed from the previous zen micro's. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks

I doubt that you'll get an *official* response to this as CL does not *officialy* have any problems with the headphone jacks on their units other than from *mishandling* or from a normal and small failure rate. As of now the official stance is that there's no problem to fix. Just keep checking back here. Looks like with the Micro the thread started jumping after about 3 months for the folks that purchased last January.
Mine's about a month old now with no problems.

• Does the Zen Micro Photo 8GB have Jack Stick proble

As my title says, does the Zen Micro Photo 8GB have Jack Stick problems?
Some claims that Creative fixed this issue, and some claims that it still exists, does some of you have experienced problems with the ZMP?

Since there is no definiti've answer from Creative regarding this issue, I plan in the interim to keep my headphones plugged in as much as possible. My long term solution is to purchase (for approx $5.00) a 3.5 mm male/female headphone jack and use it as the sacrificial phone jack. This way I can remove my phones as much as I like. I am not going to take the chance. I think the long term solution is the way to go even if they fixed this problem. Over time the phone jack is going to loose some connectivity due to repetiti've use. This in turn creates an annoying audible noise picked up by your headphones. Just a thought.

• Creative Zen Micro Photo with Windows 2000 Professio

Well, I purchased a micro photo about 5 days ago and am thrilled with the quality so far but i have old software on my computer due to its age and was wondering what software i need to run in order to transfer songs to my zen. I read the post above with all the drivers and it was just jibberish to me. I have wmp9 and would like to run it through that but my device isnt recognized. What download do i need to have in order for it to recognize my mp3 player?
Thanks,

Zach,
Have you try the legacy driver in this post before with WMP9? Although the Micro Photo player isn't listed in the list, other forum member has posted success with the driver so if you haven't try it yet might as well give it a try.

• Help with my Bran-New Creative Zen Micro Photo. [Questi

If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port. After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?
My Specifications:
My Mp3 Player: Zen Micro Photo (Black)What I tried: Switching USB ports and re-installing Service Pack Software: Not sure how to determine firmware without installing something. I'm on a XP Professional and I'm using the Creative Media Source and Creative Media Toolbox

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

• [Zen Micro Photo] Stuck in b

My Zen Micro Photo gets stuck in the bootscreen. When I turn my Zen on it says "Creative" and after a couple of seconds "Zen Micro Photo". While "Zen Micro Photo" is in my screen it does nothing. I tried to take out the battery and turn it on again, but still nothing. Only after a couple of hours it starts working again.
It als doesn't connect properly with Windows XP.
The problem started a couple of days ago when I activated the removable harddri've mode on the Zen to connect it to Windows 2000.
Should a reload of the firmware help?

See the section "My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" in the FAQ.

• SOLUTION - Zen Micro Photo Stuck in Recovery M

My Zen Micro Photo got stuck in recovery mode after I followed Creative Labs Technical Support suggestions. They had me do a Clean Up, a Format All a Reload Firmware and a Reboot. After doing this my unit was stuck in Recovery Mode. They then had me load the latest firmware. v .3.0, from a PC connection and I found that it worked fine, but doing the above steps put me back into Recovery Mode hell. So I did some testing.
I loaded firmware version .20.0 from my PC thinking the problem might be in the firmware version. Doing the steps they had asked me to do caused me to be in Recovery Mode Hell, so again I loaded firmware from my PC.
This time I went through each item one at a time and rebooted after each. Clean Up/Reboot, Format ALL/Reboot and Reload Firmware/Reboot. They all booted normally except when I did a Reload Firmware.
Next I loaded firmware v .3.0 to my unit again and did the same test. Again it put me in Recovery Mode Hell after I selected Reload Firmware from the Recovery Mode screen.
Conclusion DO NOT LOAD FIRMWARE FROM RECOVERY MODE. If you have to load firmware at all, do it from your PC connection. I'm going to copy this into the VERY LONG message I have had with Creative Labs Technical Support over the past 5 days and let them know what I have found. I hope this helps others to fix their Micro Photo.

I am having a similar problem. I am stuck in recovery mode and my PC won't recognize the MP3 player at all? I have rebooted, cleaned up, formatted, pulled the batt, etc. Finally I pulled the battery for longer than 30 seconds and that seemed to fix the problem. We will see.

You don't need USB2.0 but you will need to have at least Service Pack for your Windows XP and Windows Media Player 0 installed.

• Need help with Zen Micro Photo: It stays in recovery m

Just recently, my zen micro photo has been staying in recovery mode. I have tried all of the four options available? to me in recovery mode. .) Clean up 2.) Formatt All 3.) Reload Firmware? 4.) Reboot. When I try "Reload Firmware". It doesn't really "reload". All it does is erase the current firmware, which it has done several times. My computer doesn't really realize the player. It doesn't allow me to acess my songs, which have already been deleted. It says the "Player is not connected". At first, I thought I needed to charge. I charged it to maximmum. The battery is "FULL". Also, the firmware update doesn't recognize the player either. Whenever I select the reboot option, my player reboots to recovery mode. This does no good, as I have tried all of the available options in recovery mode, and they have done no good. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Message Edited by Damaniscool on 04-2-200707:29 PM

do you hear a sound from the hard dri've like it's stuck? this is common. if so, please search this forum for "hard dri've whack" or "percussi've repair".

• Zen Micro Photo bugs need to be worked out - firmware update comi

Hi,
I've had my Zen Micro Photo 8gb for a month & have discovered some interesting quirks: first, I don't believe mine is defecti've, though I've had problems. I have encountered freezing on both the "Zen Microphoto" logo and "rebuilding library" screen; I scoured this forum and the Knowledge Base for answers, trying all that seemed applicable?- I tried disk cleanup and reboot (leading to rebuilding library freezes), reformats & carefully reloading the latest firmware?a couple of times. I've drawn some conclusions:?) Mediasource software is not working for me; when I switched to using only Windows Media , most problems went away.2) For whatever reason, "rebuilding library" can only be accomplished while my Zen is connected to the computer - should this be the case?3) It seems like the times my screen freezes on the "Zen Microphoto" logo I may have held the "on" switch to the side a little longer than necessary; I'm wondering if this is happening because I'm holding the switch on a little too long?Anyway, I love the size, look and sound of this player, so I hope to keep using it. NOTE: can anyone from CREATIVE tell me if there will be future firmware updates? Thanks

• Using Zen Micro(Photo) with plain Explo

Is there a possibility to copy MP3 files simply by drag-and-drop with the Windows Explorer to the Zen Micro(Photo) so that the files are treated as MP3 and NOT as simple data files? Technically it is quiet simple to do this by using the hard disk of the Zen as an extra hard disk in Windows. Even the cheapest USB-stick based MP3-player can do this. Why not a Zen (or the iPod competition)?
I refuse to use any specific software to copy my self ripped MP3-files because I know that that software (Creative, iTunes, even Windows Media Player and other) changes things during the file transfer and I don't want any change in the MP3 files, not even a single bit!
I want to buy a Zen Micro Photo (8 GB, color screen), but I refuse to do it as long as it is impossible to crag-and-drop my MP3 files simply thru the Windows Explorer.

Yeah that's what i always did. I just drag and drop MP3 files directly into my player without using any software whatsoever.
