Micro questi

Hey Im new to this site too!! I am having trouble with my micro too! It suddenly went completely blank on me. It seems to be stuck in a loop. It all started when i hit the pause button. Now i have a completely blank screen. But it still plays 3 or 4 songs over and over. The micro lights up when its turned on but that it! When i plug it into the charger i dont even get the charging symbol on the screen! I took the battery out and put it back in but no use!! Its too bad these things dont have a hard reset button!! If anyone has dealt with this kinda problem let me know!! I have a nano and that seems to work great! I picked the micro up in Dec. and it has had only limited use!!

If you can download from the computer at school buy a flash thumbdri've. You can check the sale ads for inexpensi've ones. I've purchased 4 gig ones fro $20.00 at Fry's electronics.

. Since AllofMP3 is now requiring a $25us minimum in spite of, or because of, the fact that the KGB are in hot pursuit, I was considering jumping ship again and trying Napster-to-go. When the Micro is attatched, I get an "upgrade software" offer. Presumably this is one of the new version 2's, which I am reluctant to try. Anyone had experience with the Napster/Micro software download?

When I was reading the instruction booklet it says to install the software to your computer before you plug your Micro into it. I was gonna make some hard disk space on it so I can transfer projects from school to my house but I can't install the software at school. Is there any way for me to do this?

  • A small Zen Micro quest

Ok so i got the zen micro for xmas and i got some songs on there but i cant figure out how to play them when i go to now playing it says select music to play from the music libary ... how do i get there? It says I have songs on the micro but i cant seem to find the music libary. Please help me out and make this xmas good and not frustrating for me

First of all, have you read the manual. That could solve a huge part of your problem. For a quick answer, push the back button and then you will see music library. Click on it, and then use the touchpad to find the music.

Yes, you may buy a remote for: $20. I know there are places with Micros, I've heard them advertise on the radio. But I don't know where it was... I know the cheapest you an get this player online is newegg.com for $25. This page should help you find a store near you: http://us.creative.com/shop/wtb/local/local.asp If you aren't lucky enough to find a store in there (like me) you might be living in New England (like me, Massachusetts) and there are many places near me. • New Zen Micro - Quest

.) Firmware Update (w/ MTP? - the 2nd one) - When it says that it syncs with my WMP0, does that mean that every time there are new songs in my library, it will automatically transfer to the Zen? Cuz... I do have more gigs of music than can be stored in the Micro, and I need to be "selecti've" haha.

    janny,
When using sync with WMP0, you do have the option of auto or manual sync.

  • Creative Zen Micro Quest

I have a white 5 gig Zen Micro and i love it but...............can someone please tell me how you synch up with Microsoft Outlook.... so that i can use the calender, contacts, and to-do-list features...........also, i've tried going throught the zen micro media explorer but it always tells me the device is connected, although it is, why does this happen and does it have anything to do with me using the latest firmaware (Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 )...........help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

    big_d5,
If you had update the MTP firmware for the player, you will also need to update the Zen Micro Media Explorer to support the MTP version. Go to the driver page and look for this Zen Micro Media Explorer .00. for Creative Zen Micro (Software Update Package for Zen Micro Players with *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware).

  • Creative Zen Micro Questi

I'm currently in the market for an MP3 player to use at the gym. Since I usually do a lot of jogging, I'm concerned about using an MP3 player that has a physical hard dri've vs. another type of player that utilitzes flash memory. My questions are:
. Should I be concerned about using a physical hard-dri've-based MP3 player, or does it not matter?
    2. Does the Zen Micro use a hard dri've, or a sim card? I was told by someone at Cambridge Soundworks that it uses a sim card and not a hard dri've, however the review of this unit on CNET states that it uses a hard dri've. I was not able to find details on Creative's web site.
    Can anyone help?

it absolutely uses a hard dri've...creative has other stuff that uses flash memory. you might have to worry about screwing up all the players that use hd's if you jog alot, so the flash players are the way to go. they are smaller, too, but you pay a lot more for a lot less space (usually 28, 256, 52mb or even gig) as opposed to 2.5, 4, 5, 20+ gigs for a hd.

  • Help with my Bran-New Creative Zen Micro Photo. [Questi

<EM>If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!</EM>I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port. After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?
    My Specifications:
My Mp3 Player: Zen Micro Photo (Black)What I tried: Switching USB ports and re-installing Service Pack Software: Not sure how to determine firmware without installing something. I'm on a XP Professional and I'm using the Creative Media Source and Creative Media Toolbox

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

  • Possible problem with Zen Micro, quick questi

The top button on my Micro, the Play/Pause touch button, is quite a bit brighter than the other 5 buttons and the glowing ring around the edge of the player. They're fairly dim in comparison. The play button is pretty bright. Is this normal? Also, the player is plugged into the system and idle with the USB cable as I type this, and all the neon is slowly dimming in and out... is this normal too?

    All normal,
    rather funky isn't it's
If you peer into the ZenMicro from above the display, while on, you can see the 3 LED's. The center one is very close to the Play/Pause button so is very bright. The pulsing is to show it is charging.

  • Micro docking quest

I just got my Zen Micro and have been lurking and learning alot here in the forums. I have a question that I haven't read in any of the other posts - when I have the ZM plugged in to my computer via the USB port to charge and I open Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer the ZM quits playing music and goes into Docked mode. The only way I can make it get unDocked so I can listen to music is to either unplug the USB cable or close the Explorer windows. Does anyone know how I can prevent this behavior? I'm running firmware v2..02 .

Masereth wrote:eidt: I forgot to ask if this happens on the .x firmwares as I'm using the 2.x firmware at the moment.
Chances are it will if you've installed anything that uses Explorer e.g. ZMME, WMP9/0. With the new . firmware there's this "lock charging" feature so that's worth trying (lock the player while playing and before connecting). Who knows, maybe this will work with the v2 firmware also. If you've got a wired remote perhaps you can still control the player.

  • Zen Micro Car charger quest

Will the official Creative Car Charger allow you to use the Zen Micro if the battery is completely dead? I bought a cheap usb car adapter and it doesn't seem to work correct at all. I am looking for a way to power the Zen Micro in the car if the battery is drained- I am assuming from Creative's product description you can use their adapter to power the Zen in the car if the battery is completely drained.
We really like the Zen micro but have had continous problems with the battery. I've updated firmware and have done everything recommended in the FAQ in regards to conserving the battery. My wife primarily uses the Zen in the car to replace her cd's. It is not used that often (maybe 2-3 hours a week) but seem to not hold a chage at all. The only way we have found to fully charge the unit is through the usb port on our computer. So basically we are looking for a way to power the Zen in the car regardless if the battery is charged.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I'm pretty sure if the battery is dead the Micro won't work even if plugged in. I remember trying to use a demo unit at a store and the battery was dead. They plugged it into its charger and it still wouldn't work. It said it was charging but the battery had to build up a charge before it would work.

  • Micro on the way--questi

I'm awaiting deli'very of a 6gb zen micro (dark blue), and would like some educated opinions before I start using it. I'm probably a geezer compared to most of you and not quite as high tech, but not a dummy, and I've got a Muvo N200 that I've been using and loving.
. Before I start loading my music, should I consider upgrading the firmware for any reason? I don't want to upgrade down the road unless I have to, and would rather not do it once I've got a bunch of music loaded. I'm unlikely to use music services (I don't even own a credit card), will get most of my music from CD's and having friends get me mp3's.
    2. Is the file organizing similar to the N200? Or do you have more options? Can I create playlists easily? For example, if I load my music onto the Micro as complete CD's, can I later pick and choose songs from different CD's to play them in sequence?
    3. I've seen different opinions on running with hard dri've players. I run with my N200 strapped to my arm, and I'd swear the thing doesn't get jostled any more than if I was walking with it. I've got a very smooth running style, and it would be great to go running with the Micro. What about dancing?
    4. I've seen different opinions about getting the longer lasting battery sold for one of the other models (can't remember which) and using it in the Micro. Any thoughts?
    5. Will the belt clip accessory for the Micro fit into the armband for the N200?
    Thanks for any help.

. Yes, i would check what firmware your micro comes with first, the new players come with firmware version ..0, if you plan on using subscription music services such as napster and yahoo unlimited then you must upgrade your micro to the "play for sure" firmware update that found under the download section of the Creative site. You should always check for new firmware updates because updated firmware usually corrects small bugs in the firmware prior to the new firmware version, some firmware also improve the functionality of player.
    2. I'm not sure how the N200 is organized, if its drag and drop then the micros file system is different. The micros file system organizes all music into albums/artists/Genres/all tracks. The micro allows "keyword search" where you can search for part of a name of a track and it will narrow the song you are looking for to a couple of tracks depending on how specific you are. The micro also allows "find artist" this is also a search function that allows the user to search for artist by the first letter of their name. Creating playlists on the micro is a very simple task, you just compile a group of songs into the "my playing menu", bring up the sub-menu and select "save playlist as"
    3. Although its not recommended you can run with a harddri've player but do so at your own risk. If you jostle your player too much you can cause permanent physical damage to the dri've. All harddri've DAPs have a small amount of ram (random acess memory) that the harddri've dumps into, this means the the harddri've stay inacti've most of the time as long as you don't skip tracks or changes playlists/artist. My recommendation is that if your really set on running with this thing then create a playlist and lock the player, this way no buttoms are pressed while running significantly lowering the amount of time the harddri've is accessed while your running. Depending on how you dance you can seriously kill your harddri've within minutes
    4. The new Micro Photo has a 5hr battery life claim on it, it has been confirmed that it will fit into the regular micro but i haven't heard of anyone trying it out yet.
    5. No, the micro comes with a belt clip that you can order off the creative site or it might come with your micro depending on whether you got the limited edition or the basic package. I have the belt clip and i wouldn't recommend running with it, its not very sturdy.
