Micro SIM to Mini SIM

I have changed to a new Micro SIM for my iPhone 4. In case, I need to use other phone that uses Mini SIM for some time. Is it operating without negative effect? I have learnt that Micro SIM is operating at 1.8 V while Mini SIM may operating at 3.0 or 1.8 V.

If you get a Vodaphone iPhone, it should have a microSIM included. If not, I'm sure that you could call them and tell them that you now have an iPhone 4, and they should send you a microSIM for it.

  • Does the ipad mini come with a micro sim card?

I am interested in purchasing an ipad mini w cellular option.  I am moving to the UK for a year and want to use a provider there but switch back to a US provider next year. Does the ipad mini come equipped with a micro sim card?

The US AT&T model comes with an AT&T SIM. For other carriers you will need to get a nano-SIM from the carrier.

  • Orange uk will not provide a micro sim replacement

As the title says, if you are still in contract and not eligible for an upgrade yet but were thinking of getting the iPhone 4 on pay as you go and swapping out your normal size contract sim for a micro one orange will not allow it, they said if you buy it on pay as you go that's what it must be used for and under no circumstances will they give you any sim replacement apart from for the same sim as you have at the moment. If you are on o2 your in luck as they will be letting you swap the sim if required.

hmm someone else on another forum said this
"Just got off the phone with Orange to see if they could send me a Micro Sim to use when I purchase the iPhone 4 and the short answer was yes.
HOWEVER she did say that for customers such as myself who are currently on a monthly contract with them using a normal sim card who want to get their account details moved over to a micro sim will have to change their tarriffs slightly. She said that the terms and conditions they have been given state that customers must move to an iPhone4 tarriff which is an extra £10 per month but does come with unlimited internet (thats actually 750mb as we all know) and free BT Openzone WiFi, in order to get your existing number account details moved to the new Micro sim.
I was on a 1200 min £35 contract which with the new iPhone4 tarriff will take it up to £45, but have decided to offset some of the cost by lowering my tarriff to a £30 900 min per month, therefore totaling a £40 which the iPhone add-on.
It is a bit annoying that they aren't simply doing what O2 are by offering an online service that you just enter the new sims SSN code into and it copies the details over for you for free, but I didnt fancy cutting the card, screwing it up and not having any use of a phone till a replacement normal sim arrives, as Orange say they wont replace lost big size sims with Micro sims."
When you say "Update: just spoke to orange again and they said this is now possible to swap your current iPhone contract sim for a microsim, so have just preordered" did you mean "Update: just spoke to orange again and they said this is now possible to swap your current FULLSIZE contract sim for a microsim, so have just preordered" ?
I dropped Orange an email about this earlier on in the week so will post what they say.

  • Update from 02 regarding Micro Sim.(UK)

If you have pre-ord a new I Phone 4 from Apple you can go into a 02 shop from Monday to collect your micro sim, you will have to take your confirmation email from apple of your pre-order to show them.
This has just been posted on my facebook page from 02

Good news. I ordered mine to collect at Apple but I selected the "Contract" option.
Can I assume there will be a micro-sim waiting for me when i get there?

  • IPhone4 recognizes SOME micro sim cards but not all

I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if this is a subject already covered.
I bought an unlocked iphone4 from the online Apple store in Singapore through a friend. I live in Indonesia, where it is not yet released so I had to trim a mini sim into a micro sim. Being cautious, I first tried this with a prepaid card, and was successful with 3 cards (could be used in iphone). Thus gained confidence, I trimmed the card I normally used and ... the iPhone doesn't recognize it. The chip on this card is larger than on the other three, but several websites assured me this should not be a problem. I am sure I didn't damage the chip. I've had the sim card for years and it works fine (well, until I trimmed it). Does anyone know how I could fix this?

The older SIM card is the problem.
See if you can get a new one from the provider, it will very likely work.

  • Registering 3G Micro SiM

When I received i Pad today the Three network 3g micro sim ( 1 month rolling contract ) needed registering . Because someone did not give me a mobile 07 number on the package the guys at 3 could not help. i.e "can you give me your 11 digit number beginning with 07". "Sorry there is only the 19 digit sim number beginning 899442 says me". Sorry sir there must be a number beginning 07 otherwise we cant help !!. Needless to say after 35 min of being past from pillar to post i rang apple, who needed the serial number which I found in "Settings, General About ! and guess what the cellular data number was recorded there. So by ringing back £ they completed registration, but guess what when you log on to your 3 account they send a message to your sim containing your password , maybe they DO BUT you cannot access a message on the i pad as it does not have a panel like their dongles. Also defintely no mention in handbook about these issues. So 3 guys need retraining before they send out data packs NOT after.

Ah never mind, seems like a sprint locked device, based on other posts in the forum. Sorry for the trouble.
I was just about to tell you that.
For some reason, in the past 4-6 weeks there have been an onslaught of questions from India about Sprint -sold Playbooks with the SIM card. It's like Sprint or someone is selling them over there to get rid of inventory.
Your PlayBook will work great on WiFi only.

  • Micro Sim Adapters

Would it work if I put the Micro Sim from my iPhone 4 into an adapter for my 3gs? Would this be legal with AT&T since both phones are mine?

If you are transferring out of i4 to 3GS, AT&T can do it simpler by using your old SIM card and replace the code on the SIM and IMEI on iPhone.

  • O2 UK Micro Sim Cards are in stock!

Just a quick post to let all you o2 UK users needing a micro sim card know that they are now in stock.
If you have ordered an iPhone from the Apple website, take in your reservation and they will sort you out with a micro sim.
Word of warning when you come to switch your number over, I wouldn't reccomend doing it until you recieve your new phone, the micro sim within the mini sim can easily be caught on the inside of your iPhone 3g/3gs and prevent the sim tray from being released.

Thanks. Looking forward to using the 3G feature and accessing the Apps store from the iPad on the 28th

  • My ipad does not find my micro sim card? Whats wrong?

Where did you get the phone? If it was hacked or jailbroken prior to the update, this is pretty typical. If that's the case, it's now a brick.

  • How can i make my micro sim (which i am using currently on some phone) on the new iphone 6?

I am using an android phone which have a micro sim. And tomorrow i am  going to buy the unlocked iphone 6, which needs nano sim. So how will my micro sim work with iphone 6? Or apple will take care of that for me?
    Thank you.

One option is to ask you cellular carrier to copy the data from the old sim to a new one if the place where you buy the phone can not.

Compare the roaming charges from the German carrier with services like those:
    http://www.abroadband.com
    http://www.maxroam.com/Shop/Product/Detail.aspx?ProductId=787&cur=EUR
Otherwise buy a pre-paid micro-SIM card for the iPad in each country you visit.

  • HT1365 why does having a telstra micro-sim  stop me from being able to access my home wi-fi which is optus?

when I first bought my ipad 3 cellular + wi-fi, I did not get a micro-sim card. I only used my home wifi that is from an Optus broadband network.
It worked perfectly without any issues, good strong signal and fast internet.
    no worries
Then 3 days ago I bought a micro-sim, from Telstra and inserted it and activated it.
It worked perfectly too, from home and everywhere. But I have plenty of download on my home network, so I want to switch away from my pre-paid Telsra month-by-month simcard  to getting my internet via the Optus wi-fi.
    But it no longer works.
I can no longer get a signal from my home wi-fi network.
The wi-fi is still working for other devices in the house.
I have tried resetting the netowrks to get it to find and recognise the wi-fi again.
It does find it, it does recognise it and allows me to join, but the top corner of the ipad screeen says "No Service", and then shows 3 bars of the wi-fi netowrk signal. !!
Do I need to remove the Tesltra micro-sim to get the ipad to recognise the home netowrk?
    That doesnt seem right.
    What am I missing?

Connect to a router via web browser from another device, open "settings" -> "wireless"( sequence and title of menu depending on model and manufacturer of your router) and try to change wireless mode to 802.11N or if this mode not accessable, to 802.11g mode only. Save this settings( router will reboot) and connect Ipad2.

  • How can i see my mesages in my micro sim for my i pad 3

im inserted already the micro sim and the signal is ok
but where can i see any mesages for my simcard?

To the best of my knowledge, the only thing that an iPhone can read off a SIM is contacts. Those can be imported into the iPhone contacts app. The iPhone doesn't store texts or contacts to the SIM.

  • US iPad 3G and using more than one micro-sim

    Hello
I'm planning on ordering a 3G iPad from the US. I travel very regularly and plan on having micro-sim cards for the countries I visit all the time i.e France, UK, Germany and others. Obviously it would be a lot cheaper to have separate sim cards for each country as opposed to roaming on a single subscription.
My question is whether any micro-sim will work in the US iPad 3G straight out of the box. I'll have absolutely no need for the AT&T sim.
    Thanks

This post is a little dated, but, as long as I'm here: I just got back from Canada, where I was able to do exactly this: I went into a Bell store in Vancouver and got a microSIM for my 3G iPad 2 ($5).  We took my AT&T SIM out and put the Bell SIM in, and it worked exactly the way it should have: I went to "Cellular Data" in Settings and it let me sign up for a variety of month-to-month plans; I went for 5 GB of service for $35.  The only thing I had to work around was that the sign-up form wouldn't accept "CA" as a Canadian province; I substituted "BC", and it was happy.  The service worked great, and was much cheaper than AT&T's international data roaming plan.
I presume I could go back to Canada and re-use the SIM to purchase a new plan, but I'm not sure how long that would work -- do SIMs (and their phone numbers) used in this way time out after awhile?
To perhaps extend the discussion a bit: I'm going to be in France and the UK in July, and would like to do the same sort of thing, ideally getting one microSIM and service plan that would work in both countries.  Orange provides service in France and the UK, but I'm not sure if a service plan bought in France would continue to work in the UK.  Any advice?

  • I have a uk ipad2 with 3G and am going to the USA I want to get a micro sim from AT

I have a UK ipad2 with 3G and am going to the USA.  I want to get a micro sim from AT&T so that I can use 3G in the USA. My question is that I know that I will need to sign up for an AT&T account on my Ipad.
Do AT&T accept foreign credit cards so that I can do this?  I only have a european Visa/Amex credit card.
If they don't, is there any way that I can purchase a dongle in the USA and use a USB adaptor on my ipad2?
I appreciate any feedback - i have spoken to loads of people from Apple and AT&t but noone seems to know the answer.
    thanks

You need a US credit card with a US address.
