Micro - Song Length is Incorrect on Playb

I couldn't find anyone address this issue in the forums, but I can't be the only person dealing with this... It's regarding the bar that indicates the position of the track as it's playing at the bottom of the screen. Some of the songs I've downloaded onto my Micro have the incorrect length. In other words, the entire song is there (and it plays through), but the player sees it as only 30secs, for example. This means I can't navigate past 30s, I have to listen through it. Since I like to listen to comedy on the player, some of these files are 30min long. It's annoying if I want to hear the joke at the 20th min.
Here's how I'm doing it:
- ripping CDs with WMP0 to WMAs at 60kbps OR using downloaded MP3s (not protected)
- transferring files to the Micro with Zen Micro Media Explorer (?), not MediaSource
- running firmware .02.05
Tried:
- different bit rates (constant and variable)
- different lengths of files
- Clean-up of files
- Formatting the player and re-inserting everything
- same thing was happening with the old .0 (?) firmware
I've spoken to tech support and they haven't been able to find the cause. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. The files that are affected are of all formats, bit rates, lengths. Maybe someone else has some similar experience.

hey i had a similiar problem with my mp3's of cds that i would rip with vbr until i found this article aout this program that really solved everything:

the program is called vbr fix in which fixes header and seeks of mp3 that seem to get messed up while converting from cd or whatevea this program really help me and fixed everything just like the article said and know i scan all my mp3 before i put it on my zen touch i would suggest this program for everyone

Song length is incorrect in iTunes

I recently digitised a mix tape and added it to my iTunes library. It plays fine when I use Windows Media Player, and it's length in total is around 1hr 30 mins. But in iTunes, it shows as 6hr 28mins, and repeats itself several times.
What is the reason for this?

I imported 2174 songs into my itunes from my husbands CD collection. Then for some reason i was checking out some of itune features. I clicked on FILE>DISPLAY DUPLICATES, Just to see what this feaure was. it changed my page to something that i did not like. I am trying to figure out how to get my itunes VIEW to what it was BEFORE i clicked on the DISPLAY DUPLICATES. My page before looked like: as follows (columns from LEFT TO RIGHT) showed:

The large text size makes your post almost impossible to read.
Excessive use of bold or capitals (also) makes posts difficult to read.
You can drag most of the column headings left or right, or right-click on the header to turn columns on or off.
Once you've used File > Display Duplicates or Shift > File > Display Exact Duplicates you can use File > Display All or the Display All button at the bottom of the list to restore the display.

Changing the logic song length

it seems i've moved the white line box at the top of the arrange / bar listing as far right as it wants to go - i think it's around 2137 bars
is there any way of making it go further to the right?
changing a song length setting maybe?

How do I manually change the song length?

After finishing recording a song, I have some blank space at the end (about 10 bars) where there's no content on any of the tracks. Just empty bars. How can I reduce the song length to get rid of those unused bars?

As far as I can see it the only way to do this is to create a new song section of automatic length and then copy all of the parts in from the previous section one by one. The section will grow to accomodate the largest of the parts. Once complete you can delete the previous section.
Not very elegant.

I have exactly, exactly!! thesame annoying problem you have or had. I don't know what to do and i am reallyfrustrated with the dumb limited inside the box solutions offered to me. It'slike if you have a problem with your ipod or iphone you can either restore it,uninstall/reinstall itunes and thats pretty much it. I am sorry but that isjust f***** up.

No need to uninstall iTunes from the
main C: drive and install it to another drive. In
fact, it is a bit safer to keep the iTunes
Program installed on the same drive with the
other programs.
iTunes operates as a database of information for your
music files. The actual music files are stored on
your PC, not within iTunes. iTunes keeps absolute
references of the music file location and other
information in its database file. This allows iTunes
to use music files from any location on the PC:
different directories/folders on the main HD, another
internal drive, and external drive or a network drive
(or any combination of the above). Each song
reference has a specific and hardcoded path so iTunes
can find and play (or sync) it.
Make sure you only change the location of the iTunes
Music Folder, rather than the iTunes
program. Move all the music files to the D: drive.
I respectfully disagree with your claim. I've been running itunes on a dedicated music drive for over a year and had not one issue. iTunes can still allocate a file from any one of my computer's 5 hard drives. Keeping it where other programs or OS are installed makes no difference at all. By installing iTunes on the music drive, the iTunes music folder is automatically where she would want it.

ITunes cutting song length

I am extremely frustrated with this, and it seems like many other people are having the exact same problem. First of all, I do not have crossfade turned on. The lengths of random songs in my iTunes library somehow get shortened, and these shorter versions of the songs get fed to my iPod, where this becomes a problem when I won't be back at my computer for a while to fix it. When I get to one of these songs in iTunes, the problem is corrected immediately, and the song length goes back to normal. There is no telling which song will be shortened until I notice while listening to my iPod, which is very frustrating. I'm glad the problem isn't with my iPod, since the 1-year warranty just expired, but I hope that Apple employees are seeing these posts from people with the same problem and working to fix it.

Well update to my own post. It isn't all songs over 10 minutes. Seems to just be random songs. So still, any assistance would be helpful. Thanks

I created a project a few months ago, and iMovie worked as it always had. I would create a project, add a background song, then add photos to fill up the song.
When I created a project today, I added the background song (4m9s), then added a single photo, and the background song length was shortened to 6 seconds. I have never seen the app work this way. I know I can extend the photo to the length of the background song, but it used to be so much easier to add photos and sync them with the music as I desi

When I've added photos to a project they are added to a default time to appear. Honestly I've never looked at the time but 6 seconds sounds close. I'm guessing that since you added the photo after you add the music that its thinking you want the two to match in time length so it tunicates the music. Try adding the photo first then add the music. Good luck!

Max Song Length not long enough... how to increase?

I haven't been able to find an answer on this question; I just ran into a problem. I'm working on a film where the quicktime of the entire movie runs 90 minutes. Each piece is its own .lso file, and I start the recording to match the appropriate spot in the film (each cue chases the quicktime).
The problem: I'm writing for the end of the film, and as soon as I hit measure 2138, it stops -- I can't get past that point, either in the film or on the cue.
The question: how can I extend the song length by another 20 minutes?

Pasting column of song lengths turns into date...

One more problem, I am trying to paste a column of song running times (listed as mm:ss) but Numbers automatically changes the formatting to a date. So if the song is 4:14 in length, upon pasting into a column, the info changes to "4:14AM 6/17/08". I have tried pre-setting the cell formatting to anything other than "Date & Time" but upon copying the info, it always changes to a date and time.
I'm sure this has to do with the fact that the song length has a colon in it, but hopefully there is a workaround since I have a lot of songs to copy in.

Alternately, you could use an intermediate application to format the text in some format that Numbers will not interpret as time-like, one that simplified parsing the text string into its individual time units as numbers from within Numbers. (Substituting spaces for the local time separators is one possibility.)
Pages may be useful for this but I have very little familiarity with it so I can't say if it is a good choice. For this & many other text formatting chores, I use Tex-Edit Plus. It is a modestly priced shareware application with extensive & powerful find & replace features that may prove very useful here.

Song length not showing in transport

Using Logic Pro and the song length is not appearing in the transport window. I have tried all the formats for the transport window (full normal, full horizontal, etc.). Still all it shows is the midi status window, song name and then where the song length should be is gray. Am I missing something in the settings? Anyone else experienced this?

Didn't they reorganise the transport in 7.2? From
memory, I think they removed the free memory display
from the transport - did they move the song length
indicator there, or remove it?

Ipod 4G - maximum song length??

I have a 4th generation 40GB Ipod, with plenty of space available. I transferred a song to my Ipod and it won't play, I think because it is too long. When I try, the Ipod locks up and must be rebooted. This same audio file plays just fine in Itunes, so I don't think the file itself is faulty.
Question: how long is the maximum song length, or file size, for use on my Ipod?
[This 'song' is fifty nine hours long. Actually, it is an audiobook. If you want to know what book, other than "War & Peace", could possibly be that long, check the NY Times fiction best seller list for 10/10/05 - it is #1. This audiobook was ripped from 48 CD's and is just over 3GB in size.]

I have 48 separate files, each from one CD. I joined these files into one large file with MediaJoin. I know I could use each file separately, or perhaps assemble them into roughly four files of about twelve CD's each, twelve files of about four CD's each, or some other combination, but for ease of use and ease of locating my audiobooks, I prefer to have as few files as possible.
In order to save the trial and error time it would take me to figure this out by myself, surely someone must already know the answer of how long a song, or large a files, I can play on my Ipod.
This one 3G, 54 houre long, file plays without any problems whatsoever on my home computer in Itunes.
What do you think?

Weird Micro song-swi

First of all, I've had my Micro for a week, and so far I love it. I'm getting about 9 hours of battery life listening to 28 kbps WMA's, and I'm fine with that.
Now, here's the weird thing. This morning I'm listening to my playlist, when a song starts that I know is not on this playlist. I check the display, and it has the info for another song on the album that is in this playlist. So, I went to the album and discovered that at least three songs from one album have swapped places, so that the song info says one thing, but it plays a totally different song. Also, I remember hearing the song that should have played with my playlist play yesterday off the same playlist. Granted, I did not look at the screen to see what the song info said. I tried turning it off, taking out the battery to see if that did anything. But, the songs are still switched. I guess I'm just going to have to delete them off the Mirco and re-transfer them off my computer.
It's not a big deal to me. I just thought it was odd as I had never heard of something like this happening.

I agree with the last statement. I've had several instances while ripping music from a CD to my computer where I downloaded the album info from the internet and it turned out to be incorrect. So far, this has only occurred when I used WMP to rip my CD. When I used Creative Mediasource, I was able to retrieve the correct album info from the Internet. WMP retrieves the album info from an internet source different from that of Creative Mediasource. Therefore, I would recommend you try a different software other than WMP for ripping CDs whenever that problem occurs.
