Micro Zen's not working (firmware probl

After having my micro Zen with me to Greece, I've got a fatal firmware problem. I got this message that my Zen was having a firmware problem and therefore wouldn't start. It went directly into recovery mode. I tried cleaning up, but even that wouldn't work. After restarting about 20 times, I made the decision to reload the firmware in recovery mode. My current firmware version is ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB___0. All seemed to function, but after having the message "rebooting...", the process just stopped. After about hour I got tired of waiting and stopped the process. Now, when I'm starting my Zen, I'm only getting the welcome screen. I've tried the recovery thing, but the machine won't go into recovery mode. Any hope for my Zen?
Bergy

well took my Zen Micro with me on holiday as well and when i came back I didnt bother using it for about 2 weeks. So 2 weeks later I want two transfer some songs on but first I realise I have a low battery and i charge via the usb cable and it comes to the recovery mode so reboot it but it comes up the recovery mode again and i try to reboot it again but it does the same thing so I reload the firmware and the reboot it but it still doesn't work. I left for a while once once it had charged a bit so then later on i switch it on and it comes up Firmware Problem and then into recovery mode, i reboot it but it still comes up Firmware Problem and then recovery mode. So I'd like to find out if there is a way to fix the problem.

• Zen Micro Media Explorer not working

Recently I purchased a new PC. winxp. My zen worked just fine on my old PC. I installed my zen and the media explorer. When I launch the Zen Micro Media Explorer everything is grayed out. I cant click on anything. Windows media explorer shows my zen, but the Zen Micro Media Explorer is just all gray. I have FW version .3. I figued I would upgrade the FW and when I try upgading, it says the zen is not plugged in. I need to edit my playlists and I cant get into the media explorer. help!

I'm having exactly the same problem with my Creative Zen Touch 40 gB - a couple of months ago I had to re-instal windows and manage to re-install MediaSource and all the Audigy and Creative Zen drivers and they all worked together nicely. I've now upgraded the motherboard and processor, re-installed windows and cannot get mediasource to see my device. I've tried intslling the plays-for-sure software suite and it says it can't see my device and to check that the firmware is updated to PFS devices, which it is. I've tried the updated drivers, updated mediasource, uninstalled the device and re-installed it and nothing works. I'm running Windows XP Professional which has been updated with all the critical updates and also runs Media PLayer .
I know this doesn't help the previous poster, but if anyone else can help, that'd be fab.

• Zen Xtra not work

ok, first let me say that until I installed the firmware upgrade, I loved my player!!! NOW I hate it!!! Heck is wont ever work.....
Ok, I installed the firmware upgrade and that is where all the trouble began!!! The player worked but barely and for only about 4 hours, now it wont work at all. the screen lights up for 2-3 seconds and then goes out. It wont work plugged in or not plugged in. when I first got the firmware, nothing would work correctly!! I could no longer use music match to load playlist or music, I finally after 3 hours of playing with it I got some music on it and now I have a $300 paperweight!!!
Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas to fix it's?

Unless the firmware update failed partway through the player should still be working normally, so you might have coincidentally hit some other hardware failure with the player. For starters try working through the advice in the "My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" section of the FAQ.
If you struggle with reloading the firmware you need to make sure your player is being detected, and is appearing correctly in Device Manager. That is it is listed without error and with a driver version.

• Zen Sleek not working on windows 2

My New Zen sleek is not working on windows 2000. IT says that this product doesn't run on this operating system but in the requierements on the creative website it says that windows 2000 can be used. ANy ideas?. THe only recognization i get is a yellow question mark next to the devices name

*sigh*
The Zen Sleek was originally shipped with 2 versions. One that works with Windows XP systems only which US/Canada consumers got. And one that works with Windows 2000, which other countries such as Europe got. This has since been changed and now all countries worldwide are getting the Windows XP only models. It seems that Marketing and IT didn't communicate properly and now we have some false advertisements going on with the Sleek and the Micro. Both devices are shipping with support for Windows XP right out of the box. Despite what the label says or what the website says of Windows 2000/98/ME support.
You can get it working with Windows 2000, however you need the "Easy CD". If your package did not include such as CD then you cannot get it working under Windows 2000.
I would think that Creative is in for some serious problems if someone finds a good lawyer.

• Zen sleek not working with vi

I have a Zen sleek, and I have just got myself a new computer with windows vista. How do I get my Zen Sleek to work with vista? This is very frustrating. I have tried downloading the software from the Creative site, but during setup it says that no product can be found. I get this message both with and with my zen sleek connected to my computer.
What to do? Please help.
kind regards
Jacob Skeel Nielsen, Denmark.

OK, your Zen Micro worked with your older computer, correct?
Was your older computer an XP machine or an earlier version of Windows?
As far as I know, XP requires the PlaysForSure firmware to work with your Zen Micro. You need Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player 0 too.
You can find the drivers, firmware and software that you need by clicking the Support menu on the Creative banner at the top of the page-> Downloads->MP3 Players-> Zen-> Zen Micro, select your language and Operating System and then the drivers, firmware and software that you need.
Be sure to click the Show Details... pop-up for more information and instructions.

• Stor.e TV not working (firmware needed if posible)

I recently bought a Store TV 1.5 tb and as it was not working for Ubuntu I formated it and made it fat 32. Now it's not working on my tv, when I plug it, in the background of the original menu appears but not the folders or any other option. If I press config. on the remote I can change video or sound configurations but that's it.
If someone knows any way to repair it please help me.
I would also need if possible the original firmware or all the original files inside the device, including hidden folders.
Thank You

I don't have this HDD but the situation is complicated. If there is some firmware update it must be available on Toshiba download page.
I don't know what to say but maybe you should contact Toshiba service.
I mean they have access to Toshiba database and I think they can help you with all this.

I even tried on a fresh install and aplay -l shows the exact same output of my first post here...
Anyways the udev rules it installs are:
# madfuload.rules - udev rules for loading firmware into M-Audio DFU devices
# Audiophile

• Zen Touch Connection AND Firmware proble

after installing the firmware upgrade 2.. my player was not recognized in CMS or any other player although it was visible in the device manager and Windows says the driver is installed and works properly. I tried to reload the firmware through the recovery mode but now the installation is impossible because the computer says my ZEN TOUCH IS not connected. I tried it on different computers where my zen always worked but there as well it failed to be recognised. I read all the complaints on the forum, all the possible suggestions, tried the solution SID0053 but to no use. I really hope I will be get useful information te get out of this mess.
Best greetings

To Jason or anybody else from Creative: I would appreciate a helpful reaction from any of you.

• Zen xtra 40 gb firmware probl

ok first off my computer doesnt recognize the zen xtra and i've tried updated drivers. i have windows xp home sp2. i tried cleanup and it didnt work then i tried reloading the OS and now i get firmware problems. i tried formatting but now i lost all of my music and it still has firmware problems. i cant leave the rescue menu.
any help is appreciated.
also how do i reload the original firmware? is there a way? i have the disk and another computer (not connected to the internet) that i think recognizes the zen xtra

dreychris,
Here what you should try. Download the latest driver and firmware from the website. Disconnect the player from the computer. Install the driver and when it had finish, have the player enter the recovery mode. Once in, select Reload OS and wait for the player to prompt you to download or connect for firmware update. Now connect the player up and run the firmware update you have downloaded.

• Creative Zen V not work

Hello,?I've purchased a Creative Zen V 2 GB, the first time I used it it freezed at "rebuilding library". I could not do anyting, I could not reset it either, so I sent it back. A few weeks later I received the player again, I put some music on and it worked fine. But right now, it is again freezed at "rebuilding library" for?2 days. I had to recharge the battery, but it still isn't working. I tried to reset the player but that doesn't work so I also can't get to the trouble menu. My computer also does not recognize the player anymore. Does anyone else have these kinds of problems? What should I do?

Re-formatting worked for me. Also only transferring wma lossless files has kept my player from freezing. For some reason it would not accept numerous wav or mp3 files using both the Creative software and Windows media player . Two weeks and counting with just loading wma's and no continued freezes. Good luck.
