Microphone / Audio no longer works on my HP Pavilion DV7 Notebook PC

My microphone no longer works on my system.  Everything appears ok.  Got a message in the action center that says:
AMD/ATI Video Driver has stopped working properly.  Help, I need to record some videos.  Thanks
Rob

Hello rob4kelly,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see that the microphone no longer works on your notebook, and I would be happy to assist you! To begin, I will need to ask you a few questions:
What is the Product and Model Number of your notebook computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed on your computer?
Has your computer completed all of its important Windows Updates?
Have you updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant?
Is this an on-going, or recent issue?
In the meantime, I recommend following this document on Using System File Checker to Restore System Files. This should help repair damaged protected files on your computer. In addition, I also suggest following this resource on Resolving Microphone and Line-in Problems (Windows 7).
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Audio no longer working after upgrade

    Hi,
After doing an upgrade this morning, my audio no longer works.
Booting into KDEmod gave the first clue when I got an error message saying audio not found.
The output of alsamixer say "alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device", yet my modules have not changed in rc.conf.
Could this be related to HAL also being updated?
    Thanks,
    JTD

Do you by accident have more than one sound-device? I didn't lose sound but "aplay -l" showed that ALSA has changed the order of the cards. Hence I suddenly didn't get sound from where I expected it.

  • Synchronize By Audio No Longer Works After 7.2 Update

After installing the Premiere Pro CC 7.2 update, the synchronize by audio no longer works correctly.  When you highlight the clips and sync by audio it acts like it's doing something but then puts the clips nowhere near close being a match (usually one clip on one side of the timeline and the one on the other).
Is anyone else having this issue?  I've run into it on two seperate computers bothe running Premiere Pro CC 7.2 on Windows 8.1 machines.
    - Dennis

Bumping this. I'm a brand new CC subscriber and the sync function was a big part of why I moved to CC. 50% of the time it works, but the rest of the time, it pushes the video clip much farther down the timeline.
Update 1: To clarify, I am doing this from the sequence itself. So tracks A1/V1 are the original audio/video from camera, then A2 is my sound I want to sync.
It does not seem to have a problem syncing the same "problem" clips when I use the "Merge" by Audio from the Bin.
Update 2: I found that, if I unlink the original A1/V1 clip, then select all three (A1/V1/A2) and Synchronize, it works.
Obviously, this is an unacceptable workflow, but I hope that helps Adobe figure out what's going on here.

    Hi,
As there is more than 1 IDT entry in Recovery Manager, cancel this and use the following method instead.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • Audio no longer works with external display

Before Yosemite, I could plug my computer to a HDTV through a HDMI cable, and then hook up my audio to a stereo, so I could watch TV shows. After upgrading to Yosemite, my audio no longer work when connected to a HDTV. Any help?

OK, I just clicked restore to backup in itunes and after restoring the iphone, it seems to be connecting and working through the speakers now. Whew!

  • 5.1 audio no longer works on Netflix and HBO Go

I've noticed recently that 5.1 audio no longer works on Netflix and HBO Go. Those are the only apps I really use, so I can't speak for any others. My receiver lights up all of the speaker lights that it normally would for 5.1 audio, but it displays "Stereo" and I'm only getting stereo sound from my speakers for anything I play from those sources. The receiver works as it is supposed to for all of my other A/V devices. I tried restarting and restoring, but the problem remains. I can't think of anything else to do.

@sean0826 -- this is why you don't use Java menus. Even javascript menus are a bad idea; you need to have a secondary menu system ANYTIME you have a menu system that requires a plugin or scripting to be active. NOT EVERYONE browses with that stuff on.
The only thing you can do for now is FTP to your site and add in static menus (like we did in the "old days" at the bottom of the page; or rip out the Java Menus and install static or CSS versions.
BTW where are you rmenus supposed to be. I have opera, safari, ff, and a few others. they all look the same. So if that's true, it's the plugin that's the problem, not safari.
In Opera Pogo.com works. java loads, the game is there. It does have some drawing issues but not surprised.
In Safair Pogo works fine. Just played a game of chess.

  • Since downloading ios 7, the microphone function no longer works.

Since downloading Ios 7, the microphone function no longer works even though it is enabled in settings.

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

    Hi,
Your Seagate update CD is to update the firmware for Seagate hard drives.
Did you try the tips in the post that I referenced above?
Error 31 indicates that the driver is not installing correctly.
Go to Device Manager, locate the CD/DVD drive, open up the CD/DVD drive, double click, click on the Driver tab, then uninstall the driver. Now reboot your PC and Windows will re-install the driver.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 notebook, Windows 7: How do I disable an audio jack?

My Pavilion dv7 notebook includes two audio jacks for headphones on its right side (my left when facing it.) Long story short, a hefty piece of an iPod headphone has dislodged and been stuck inside one of these two jacks; there's no way I'd be able to remove it without taking apart the notebook. I can still receive audio via headphones when I plug headphones into the other jack, but I can no longer receive audio from the internal speakers.
I'd like to diasble both headphone jacks manually when I'd like to hear the speakers --  but I can't figure out how. When I access my 'Speakers and Headphones Properties' (IDT High Definition Audio Codec, through Sounds --> Playback Devices) and attempt to disable the device, all sound is disabled. There appears to be no way to selectively disable either just the speakers or just the headphones.
    Any ideas?

...I'm still curious as to whether I can receive any assistance regarding this issue.

  • Hp pavilion dv7 notebook numeric keypad not working

The numeric keypad on my hp pavilion dv7 notebook does not work.  I can't get the num lock to work or any of the number keys to respond.

    Hi,
While this could be a hardware issue, it's always worth trying the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right click the entry 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and select Uninstall.
    Shutdown the notebook.
Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Note:  If the keyboard doesn't work when trying to access or navigate the Bios Menu, then this is probably a hardware fault.
