Microphone connection to proprietary connec

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and my microphone works perfectly in the mic jack on the back of the card. However, I have a /8" mic jack mounted to the front of my computer case that I would like to connect to the proprietary connector on the sound card. I have read the tons of posts about this and I still cannot get it to work. I guess I'm just a dope! Here is a diagram I've put together. If someone would be so kind as to "connect the dots" in the way which would cause my mic to work I would be most grateful.

Thank you very much!

connect audio out to an amp and PA's.
connect your mic to the usb port.
go into your sound prefpane and select your desired input source (usb mic) and output device (line out). it's just that easy as long as your usb mic is compatible with the mac.

  • Microphone connection problems with SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro

I am using an old SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro purchased back in 2004. It is installed on a PC that I stopped using it in 2005. The pc has no problems and I have started using it again. My problem is that I cannot connect the microphone. Everything was working fine at the time I was this pc including the microphone. At that time I had installed win xp pro( no service packs were available). But after I had to move physically in another location(connection and disconnections etc)and a pc format I cannot use the microphone again. I am trying to connect it to the front panel and to the appropriate places as indicated in the user manual but nothing is happening. I have connected properly the sound cart and all other components are working fine. I checked whether the microphone is checked to silent mode and all other software/di'vers nonetheless everything is working fine. I am now using Win xp pro sp3. I have contacted Creative and they told me to check the mic boost option. But there is no mic boost option now. I clearly recall that there was one when I was using this pc in 2004 under win xp pro(again no service packs were available at that time). One solution I could think is to format again and install some old version of win xp pro (say 2003 or so) and then update to current. But I do not want to format again since I do not have that version of windows available(copyright issues may also raise) plus for some other reasons I do not think I should mention them on an Internet forum. I also tried to download the latest drivers ans apps form creative ,clean installation from the orginal cd including Daniel_K pack and everything someone could think without solving the issue.Creative during our last communication in a very polite way told me to stop emailing them and try to solve the issue on my own as this product is no longer supported. One thing I neglected to mention above is that the mic boost option is available in the motherboard sound chipset. I checked it in one of my attempts to solve the problem. But it disappears when installing the SB driver. I know that if I manage to configure mic boost in the driver settings I will solve the problem. But once again there is no such option. Could you please provide with some suggestions and solutions on how to solve this?. Thank you very in advance for any suggestion and help

  • Microphone Connection to Macbook Pro to Use like a DJ Mic

    Hey guys,
I need some help here. I just got my macbook pro, and i have a Logitech Microphone that I plug into my laptop via USB.
I was wondering if there was anyways that I could use the microphone as a DJ mic, say at a party, or if it could be used for speeches. How would I get the microphone to project, what program do I use?
I don't want to have to record it, and play it every time, so I just want to be able to project my voice.
Thanks guys, please respond ASAP, because I need to be able to use this mic, for the upcoming weekend.

  • Microphone connection for iBook G4

I have a iBook G4. I would like to connect my Shure wireless microphone receiver to the iBook. The receiver uses a 1/4 in cable, and has a power cord adapter. The ibook has the usb connector. How can i connect my wireless microphone to the usb port?

  • Audigy 2 ZS card appears to have microphone connections cros

I have purchased earlier in Feb of this year the Audigy 2 ZS. After inspection of the card, I have discovered that the microphone input jack is somehow cross wired, which makes a standard sterio microphone useless. Therefor, I would like to know if a USB microphone will fit the purpose of a microphone for this system?
Thanks to all that repond in advance.

AFAIK, common PC mic inputs are mono, usually plus condensor power (I think it's tip=signal, ring=power, sleeve=ground). This doesn't make a stereo mic "useless," but you'd have to use only one of its signals and rig up an adapter of some sort to use one.
Perhaps you can enlighten me about what a stereo mic is by industry practices where they are commonly found? It is 2 mono mics in a package, or a mono mic with duplicated outputs (for connection convenience I suppose)?
A USB mic probably won't be well-integrated with use of the soundcard. Soundcard mic amps don't have the best reputation for quality. If you're serious, a better approach is probably to either use an external mic preamp, or a mixer mic input, and connect the preamp/mixer line-out to the soundcard line-in.

  • Microphone connection not recognized on rear panel

My new computer has been giving me lots of problems.  First the motherboard died, then this sound card problem.  Glad it's still in warranty.
Anyway, I sent my computer back to HP just a couple of weeks ago and they replaced my sound card.  I got it back today and, disappointingly, it still does NOT work.  I have the Creative X-Fi Sound Blaster sound card.  When I plug my microphone directly into the sound card via one of those jacks on the rear panel, it's checked under "Line-In" in sound manager, but it doesn't record at all.  However, when it's plugged into the microphone jack on the front panel, it works.  When I check Properties on "Microphone FP", it says "Front Panel Jack".  I called tech support and they thought it might have been that the sound card was incorrectly connected to the front panel.  I can't help but to wonder if this is just the way this specific sound card works since they supposedly replaced the whole sound card this time.  Does anyone know?

  • Usb microphone connection with iPad

My Snowball microphone uses USB cable to record live music on my MacbookAir.  Can I use the mic with USB to record on iPad?

To clarify, the camera connection kit can theoretically support any USB microphone. However this accessory supplies very little power compared to a normal USB port, and some microphones are more power hungry than others. That's probably why Apple doesn't offically list this as a feature.
I have heard of people working around this issue by plugging the microphone into a powered USB hub, which can supply a lot more power, and then plugging the hub into the CCK.
One other note: when you plug the microphone into the CCK, an error will pop up saying "The connected USB device is not supported'. Ignore this. It pops up regardless of whether the microphone actually is supported.

  • Find the microphone connection...

I want to find out whether the microphone is connected to the computer or not. If not ..should display a warning message.. How to do that?????
    Any help would be appreciated....

    from the Microphone API
If Microphone.getMicrophone() returns null, either the microphone is in use by another application, or there are no microphones installed on the system. To determine whether any microphones are installed, use Microphones.names.length

  • Microphone Connection and Use

I'm relatively to Mac; just got one three weeks ago. Am quite impressed with its setup, operation and overall stability. However, I'm rather perplexed at the on-board audio connections. It appears that I cannot connect a "normal" microphone to the audio input connection and expect it to produce any viable audio. What must I do or what do I need to use in order to have a functional microphone for use with things like chat sessions, Skype or Gizmo?

  • No microphone connection

I cannot get Audition CS6 to connect to my microphone input. Audition 3 works OK. All other functions, Playback, edit, so on are ok. Does anyone else have this problem?

Okay.  More by luck than choice, I have CS6 running on a 32 bit Windows Vista laptop with Realtek built in device.
In Audition, go to the Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware menu.  Select MME under "Device Class" and, on the Default Input dropdown, select "Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)".  Or, if you're using a mic plugged into the mic socket, on my system that's called "Front Mic (Realtek High Definition Audio)".
If you're not seeing the option you want on the Audition menu, you have to go to the Windows Control Panel (Start/Control Panel/Sound).  Click on the tab for "Recording".  On that menu, RIGHT click on the "white bit" of the screen not associated with a specific device and make sure you have ticks on both the options "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".  This should make everything display in Audition but, just to be safe, RIGHT click on the mic option you want and click on the "Use as Default" option.
Hopefully this will get you going.

  • Does the headphone jack include microphone connections like on a smartphone?

I've got a new 15" MacBook Pro (w/Retina) and it has a single headphone jack on the left side.
I want to know if that jack supports both regular stereo headphones and stereo headsets with a built in microphone, like a smarphone's headset jack does?
In other words, if I used an adapter for a stereo headset with microphone to feed them together in a single four contact 3.5mm plug, will the MacBook use both the speakers and microphone in the headset?

Well, I've been trying to research it and I get the impression that it does, based on the Tech Specs for the MacBook Pro:
    Audio
    Stereo speakers
    Dual microphones
    Headphone port
Support for Apple iPhone headset with remote and microphone
Support for audio line out (digital/analog)
Now, exactly what that means, I'm not sure...  Is there circuitry in that jack that adapts to digital or audio line out as well as pre-amped headset volume, microphone, and remote too?  I guess I need to look at the iPhone headset to see how it is put together and whether I can use my own headset, or if I need to use Apple's...  (I suspect the latter).

  • Microphone Connection to iPod 5th Generation

    Hi all,
I have a 60 gig video iPod. I am waiting for the arrival of a new Griffin Technologies microphone compatible for this iPod, however their release has been delayed. Or so I have been told by my Apple distributor in Viña del Mar Chile. I want to find out, if I can use my own microphone and mic connector with my iPod. I have a regular mono 3/4 inch jack and an older version of the 635 Electrovoice microphone for work. Any advise on the matter it is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I am pretty sure that you can't.

  • Socket (TCP) connection to proprietary port

Anyone ever tried to create a tcp socket connection to another machine on a non-reserved port from a java app loaded into Oracle 8.1.5? I have been able to do so with other sites/ports but am unable to create a socket with one particular site. I am baffled because the exact same code I am using connects perfectly if run from a non-Oracle JVM on the OS. Anyone have experienced this before?
    Baffled,
    Jason.

There are no problems using sockets from Oracle 8i JVM.
As you are using 8.1.5 you may need to garnt JAVAUSERPRIV or
    JAVASYSPRIV roles to the users.
    JAVAUSERPRIV privileges:
    - open a TCP/IP socket
    - read or write from a file using UTL_FILE_DIR
    JAVASYSPRIV privileges:
    - all the privileges associated with JAVAUSERPRIV
    - create a subprocess
    - listen on a specific network port
    - set the socket factory
    - set the stream handler
    - read or write from any file
If your problem is specific please feel free to update this thread with more details.
    Regards
    Ravi

  • BT Infinity loss of connection and problems connec...

I am writing on behalf of my parents who have BT Home Hub 2.0 Infinity. They have had the Infinity package for about 2 years and only recently started suffering problems with connections and dropouts.
my mums imac has trouble connecting via WIFI and sometimes have to restart the WIFI connection on the machine. also intermittently various ipads, iphones, laptops, macbooks try and connect and sometimes fail to do so
this doesnt happen all the time, but regular enough through the day to cause problems
there has always been an imac, laptop connected and 2 x ipads
more recently extra ipads, and macbooks have started to connect to whenever spouses are round the house
i dont think it is a problem with two many devices as at any one time we can have macbook pro, imac, laptop, 3ipads and 2iphones connected and never seem to have problems
and the disconnections occur sometimes when only the imac is trying to connect
would really appreciate any help with this, let me know if you need any more information
    thanks

This could be a problem with a neighbour having a new router or changing wifi channel to conflict with yours.  Install inSSIDer (base version free on PC) or iStumber (free on Mac) to check out what channels are in use and what the signal strenghts are.  I don't see why that should only effect the iMac: maybe its got slightly poorer wifi.

  • External microphone connected to B/W G3

I am using an iSight for video conferencing but for audio-only conversations, I find using the isight a bit loud and annoying to others in adjacent rooms. Can an external mike, such as a headset, be used in place of the iSight and where can it be connected?

    Darrell,
The mic input jack on Macs has been a line in port forever. That means that it handles amplified sound. As long as the head phone mic has an amplified signal, it will work just fine. Otherwise, it will be too soft to be useful. Sound quality comes from proper amplification.
As for the place to plug it in? The mic port just needs the right adapter and you are in business. Take the mic you are using to a store like "Frys Electronics" and tell them you need a line-in capable headset mic and mini-din pin adapter.
    Good luck.
