Microphone doesn't pick up sound when in speaker phone.

When using the iphone 5 in speaker mode, the mic won't pick up my voice when trying to talk to the person.

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Try each of these in order until the problem is resolved.  If you've been through all these steps and the trouble persists, you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.  Be sure to make an appointment first at the Genius Bar so you won't have a long wait.

  • Picking up sound when on Boot Camp

So my speakers pick up sound when I'm playing a video/music/game like for example when a car is outside or something and I have to volume on low you can somewhat hear the static coming from it,
I think it has something to do with the mic but I tried turning it off and disabling it and I still have the problem.

Install the audio driver from the vendor, does it use Cirrius? or RealTek? you need to install an audio driver or package, Boot Camp just provides hardware device so it can be installed later by the end user.
My Mac Pro uses Realtek and easy enough to install, though I've read here that people had trouble on Macs that require Cirrius. But it is up to you.

  • How do you reduce/turn off keypad sound when making a phone call

How do you reduce/turn off keypad sound when making a phone call?

If I understand the question correctly, it is not about turning off keyboard clicks, it's about silencing the beeps made when manually keying in a  phone number. With keyboard clicks turned off, the beeps still sound when keying in a phone number. If I'm reading the iPhone User Guide correctly, it explains how to turn off keyboard clicks but not how to silence the   beeps when keying in a phone number. The only way I have found to silence the beeps is to put the phone into silent mode.

  • Camera sound when NOT using phone

My husband's Blackberry 9330 has been making what sounds like a camera shutter sound randomly at all hours of the day and night. It doesn't matter if you are holding the phone, have it laying on a shelf, carrying it in your pocket or even have the phone sounds muted. Have gone through all the sound effects and the one we are hearing isn't even listed and it is a different sound then when you take a picture with the phone's camera. Help!! It's starting to drive us nuts!!

Turning the phone off and back on again or pulling the battery out while the phone is on doesn't work either

  • HT4528 Clicking sound when making a phone call

Clicking sound when making phone call

I had this happen as well. Restarting my MacBook Pro (8,2) made it go away. At other times it seemed to appear when calling some phones (my wife's iPhone 4 and my son's Samsung phone) but not others (my land line), but this was not consistent. My phone is an iPhone 5. I'm hoping the iOS update due tomorrow will fix this.

  • Dreadfully poor earpice sound when I speak...

Kind of a scratchy faint sound with every word I say. You can hear it in the earpiece.
    I'm not liking this.

    Hi Goshia,
The plastic is loooooong gone. I don't use head phones. The weird sound I am talking about is a whisping kind of scratchy sound you can hear in the earpiece with every word spoken.
I would venture to say it happens 50%+ of every call I make or receive.
Other than the terrible sound quality in the earpiece, iPhone #3 has been great. I don't really know if it is the phone or at&t, but I have never heard a sound like this on any other at&t phone I have owned.
I know if they ever come out with a 3G iPhone it will sound better, ALL 3G phones sound better than non 3G.

    Hi ultrasia,
From the information in your post, it sounds like you might be seeing an issue with your microphone on your iPhone when in speakerphone. Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue with the microphone:

I can hear caller but they can not hear me except when using speaker phone

First of all,  make sure that your iPhone as the most recent iOS available. Check in "Settings>General>Software Update".
One other problem could be your microphone. Does it work for anything else other than a call?
    Good-Luck!

There is a lot of background noise. The caller's voice also sounds echoish
When I turn off the speaker and switch back to normal call it noise disappeared, the the caller's voice is clear.

  • Can't hear phone calls/button sounds or use speaker phone lg extravert

I tried to make a phone call but can't hear any ringing, the call goes through but nothing happens. My volume for the earpiece is at maximum and so is the main volume on my phone, I can't hear the button sounds either. If I hit the play button, I can hear the ringtone it plays for volume check and it will also play the power up and power down tones. I tried to use speaker phone, but when I touch the button it won't work. I took the battery out and that did not help at all. I also reset my phone, and that also did not help. I checked my alarm setting since I use that frequently and it works just fine too. I am extremely unhappy because I had this phone replaced in August because the camera stopped working and now it looks like I'll have to do it again but out of warranty.

        @ceasonly
I'm glad you still have some way to hear the audio on your phone, but let's get that speaker working! The most common reason for the phone's sound to stop working would be the switch on the side has been nudged accidently. Try to enable then disable Silent Mode http://bit.ly/Xhs40k to get the volume working again. Also, try to simply restart your iPhone by holding the power switch and home button together for 10 seconds. Nothing gets erased but it helps cleat out any temporary glitch your phone may experience.
If you're still having trouble, the next best step would be to reset the phone's settings http://bit.ly/HWRbPl. This does erase information from your phone, so make sure to back up http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 your iPhone information first.
Keep me posted if you continue to have audio trouble.

  • Since the iOS 7 update, some apps no longer have sound, even of configured to do so. Example, no longer does my FaceTime ring even if I have a tone set; my email app doesn't make a sound when email comes in or goes out. Help!

Ever since I updated to ios7, sounds from specific apps has disappeared, even if configured correctly to make sounds. My mail doesn't sound off anymore when mail comes in or goes out. My FaceTime no longer rings when someone calls me. My map app no longer gives me voice instructions like it did before. If someone messages me I do not hear sounds anymore. I find it very annoying especially because I have family abroad and FaceTime is an important means of communication. I reset it by pressing the sleep and home button and all, nothing happened.
Can someone help understand how to resolve this problem.
    Thank you so very much.

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Make sure sound is not muted in Control Center; tap on the little bell. Swipe upwards from bottom of screen to launch Control Center
