Microphone doesn't work with SB

Recently I bought Sound Blaster Audigy SE to upgrade from my onboard Realtek. To my surprise (though not so big, as I will explain later) the microphone from my Creative HS 300 Headset doesn't work (headphones do work), no matter what I try. All the latest drivers are installed, all the options in "mixer" checked (I mean I muted some of the devices, than the others... nothing). My "surprise" wasn't entirely unexpected since I've had the same problem with previous SB soundcard, namely Li've 5.. The mic didn't work no matter what, but on the onboard audio it worked flawlessly, so I had to use two sound devices. I mean jeeezz.... don't the guys from Creative know how to make their own stuff work together ? If anyone could help me, I would appreciate, in other case I'm returning this piece of ***** to the retailer.Message Edited by Dale-CL on 0-24-2006 03:55 PM

alfiq,
There are several possibilities, but I'd say none are good solutions for your situation. You could get a microphone transformer for under $20. Do a web search, and you'll find a lot of them. Unfortunately, all I could find were XLR-to-stereo, and I assume your mic has a /8 inch stereo plug. Otherwise, putting several 0kOhm resisters in parallel with the mic input would divide the impedance. So that might work, but you'd have to build it yourself. You could pass the mic input through an external mixer, but mixers are expensi've. Like I said, these are not good solutions. Sorry.

Ok, so how do I make it right (if it's even possible) ? Creative does not give any warning of such incompatibility of their devices and I am totally in black here.

  • Bose Headphone's Microphone doesn't work with my HP Desktop

    Hello,
I've recently purchased a HP Pavilion p7-1240, which comes with Beats Audio. I have a Bose Quietcomfort 15 Headphones and there's a microphone attached to it. I plug it in the front audio line and the microphone doesn't seem to work. I've been looking around the audio setting but nothing seems to fix the problem. I use the microphone for my laptop so I know that my headphones are working fine. Can someone please tell me what the problem is?
    Thank you in advance!

I know it's a very old post, but for the benefit of everyone... i'll answer it.
Bose QC-15 got 2 cables with it.
To use it as a headset only for your PC (there's no microphone in it)
The other cable with a microphone in it is to be used with Apple products (iPhone for example).
Your PC require 2 connections... 1 to hear the sound (usually the green connector), and 1 for the microphone (usually the pink connector).
If you connect your Apple cable into the green connector, don't expect your computer to hear your voice!
I've heard that with simply a cheap splitter, you can split mic & speaker from your Apple cable, and connect it in your PC.  But if i were you, i would contact Bose first...    I wouldn't like to blow up a 300$ headset just because of a "I've heard of".

  • Headset microphone doesn't work with my MBP

    Hi there,
I own a early 2008 MacBook Pro and a Sennheiser PC 350 G4ME. The micro of this headset doesn't work when I plug it into my MacBook Pro but it works on my old Toshiba laptop. The headset connection is made through two 3.5 mm jacks. So it shouldn't work seamlessly with my MacBook Pro doesn't it?

No, it won't. Your Mac has a line level input, not a mic level input like your old Toshiba. You would need to amplify the signal from the headset mic to line level in order for it to work with your Mac.

  • Microphone doesn't work with Teamspeak or Ventri

I installed the latest OpenAL drivers for my card, Audigy 2 ZS, and messed around with the different options in Ventrillo and Teamspeak. I'm certain it's plugged in right. Using the Volume Control in the system tray and unmuting my microphone I can hear myself speak, so the loopback is most definetly correct.
The problem must be with some sort of Teamspeak and Ventrillo similarity. I know very little about this area, and I'm fairly efficient with moving around Windows and it's system panel.
Has anyone got any ideas or solutions I could test out?

    Hi !!!
have you gone into the creative console launcher and in the settings have you enabled the 20+ Db bass setting ? if not go to ventrillo settings and increase the slider for the output!!!! it will prompt you to go to the 20+ db setting and change it......
If it stil doesnt work, not being funny but you can hear yourself on the test? so the mic is on and receiving? go through the control panel/ sound/voice/setup and run the test program..if that works and ventrillo doesnt!!!! Pray !!!
!!! no just laughing......re install it and go to the site and ask for advice..
Sorry this is all i did and it worked.....
    Have fun..

  • M305-S4910 microphone doesn't work with Skype

I have a Satellite M305-S4910 which I bought in April mostly so we could Skype my daughter who is going away to college in Sept. It had Skype factory installed, had Skype stickers, a built-in camera and microphone and 64 bit Vista. However, the built-in microphone is unusable making awful scratchy sounds in Skype. I returned the machine and got another one -- same problem. Since then I have seen other users report the same problem. I have been trying to get this fixed now for months with no results.
It may just need an updated driver. My Conexant audio driver is 4.36.7.0, and there is an update 4.36.10.0 available (since December 2008). But ... it is only available for 32 bit Vista so can't be installed on my machine. I have called Toshiba literally a dozen times and haven't been able to get anyone who could do anything about getting a new version of the driver, or investigating the problem.
Is anyone else having this problem now? Does anyone know how to get Toshiba's attention? Is there some other way to get this problem fixed?
    Thanks, Sherm

That user's problem is different since it affects all microphones -- the one we're discussing here affects only the built-in mic. I believe I have fiddled with all the settings provided for the Conexant mic; none had any discernable effect.
lmastro, if you are getting frustrated you might want to write to the General Manager of Toshiba's laptop-making Digital Products Division. I did that and finally got a response from an intelligent engineer, although no solution yet. The general manager's address is below. You can find his name here: http://laptops.toshiba.com/pressrelease/433653 (I'd post it but when I do the Toshiba moderator edits it out for some mysterious reason). I recommend that you tell him about your attempts to get the problem resolved through normal channels. My experience has been a 5 months-long nightmare so far.

I bought one Iphone a 3 weeks ago and I can´t listen what people speak with me, because de microphone doesn´t work, I need  to use the speaker, somebody know what I need to do?

Just thought that I'd report that I've decided on my solution.
It seems that just making do with what I can find on the US store is the easiest and perhaps also the best way of going about it. All other methods mean trouble. I'm lucky that China hasn't outright blocked the US store, as they HAVE blocked iTunes music store in China already (something about a song about Tibet caused them to block the store entirely).
So yeah, just going to deal with it I guess. I should be grateful I'm getting anything at all, considering the country I'm in. Still, I just feel so ripped off sometimes when I pay for expensive devices and I can't even get much out of them do to my region. iPhones cost around $700 in China because there's no company like AT&T that you can just sign a contract with to get one, so you have to pay up-front for the phone, and get less features out of it in the end. Makes buying smart phones look like a waste of time and money sometimes, since you can't use the device to do what it was built to do due to censorship and not having any content for your region (though they do have a lot of Chinese apps that I can't use due to not knowing Chinese).

  • Microphone doesn't work anymore

    Hi all,
I don't know what happened on both my Mac (iMac 24" Intel and Macbook Late 2009), but on both I cannot use anymore the microphone (integrated or built-in).
I tried using a standard 3.5 jack headset and a USB one and I'm 100% sure that all my headset were working because:
    In Windows they works;
They worked on both Mac since few days ago (I'm a trainer and I daily make lessons using Web-ex).
System preferences recognize the audio input (built-in and integrated), but it doesn't work (no activity on the bar, even if I remove the headset).
All software that needs a microphone doesn't work (Webex, Skype...).
I'm sure that there has been an update that compromised the correct functionality, as it is on 2 Mac.
Do you have any suggestion for me? I tested 2x 3.5 jack headset and 2x USB, I had the issue with 10.8.3 and I've it still with 10.8.4 (updated today).
I really don't know what to do!
    Thanks in advance!

I have an iMac, Intel Corre i5 running 10.8.5 and the built-in mic is not working.
I have checked System preferences and it is set to built-in mic and not muted. If I physically tap near the built-in mic, I see the sound level bounce. But speaking, even if right next to the mic, doesn't register. In Garage band when I try to record my voice, it only picks up the finger snaps but not my voice (snapping to show a rhythm to my choir).
    What is going on?

  • Microphone doesn't work for Creative Live! Cam Socialize HD AF HD Webcam

Microphone doesn't work for Creative Live! Cam Socialize HD AF HD Webcam (for Windows 7).
I have to use external microphone from Logitech now.
I send few emails to Customer Service. They answered once to check my Device Manager and disappeared after that. I'm really disappointed.
It looks like the drivers for Windows 7 are wrong.

    hey Killthebeeping,
if you have the USB Mic connected kindly remove it first then uninstall the audio drivers for your B510.
let windows install its generic driver.
once done plugin your usb mic and test it again.

  • Frequently the earphone and microphone doesn't work and I have to turn off in order to work, it ocurr  whit skype and the ipod function, what I have to do?

Frecuently the earphone and the microphone doesn't work, specially with skype and the music (ipod), and I have torestart (turn off) my Ipad !.
    What I have to do?
Thanks in advance for your support.

Have you reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen? If that doesn't resolve this, you can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will not lose any data, but all device settings will have to be entered again.
If that doesn't fix it, your next step might be to backup then erase all content and settings or restore the iPad to factory settings. See how if goes if you reset all settings first.

  • Microphone doesn't work while recording video

Hi everyone. I have an iPhone 5, and yesterday while trying to make a Vine while using the front-facing/FaceTime camera, I discovered that it didn't pick up any sound. However if I switch to the main camera (the HD one on the back), audio picks up and can be heard. This is a problem when I'm recording regular video too. Microphone works with the back camera, doesn't work with the front. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks!

My iPhone 4S fails and works exactly the same every time:
FAILS, with the phone on speaker, or with the camera recording video (front or back) no sound is captured.
WORKS, in all other situations and apps that I could think of that use the microphone such as
google, Voice Memo, Dragon Dictation, Vonage Extensions, Skype, and taking the phone OFF speaker holding the phone to my ear.  And also select microphone key to voice input instead of typing whenever the keyboard is there (Mail, Notes, Reminders, Safari, Maps, google Maps, ...)
Based on that, my guess is it's not hardware.
I'm using a 4S (64GB) from Verizon. In the nearby Verizon store I was told to back it up, do a master reset (which wipes out the phone), and restore it from the backup.  I called Verizon support today before doing this and got exactly the same instructions.  That's what I did today and NOTHING GOT BETTER.
After reading several discussion boards I made sure that I was not blocking any of the holes (trying to be thorough). I do not use a cover.

Okay, here's an update: the DVI to ADC adapter does work with the Apple displays that I have tried, but it won't work with the Formac. I have tried multiple time to contact them, but to no avail... they don't even respond to threats of posting my opinion of them, which is this:
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM FORMAC! They make quality products, but their customer service is a big time joke! They won't take care of you.

Try the suggestions here to see if they resolve your problem:

If these don't work you may have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.
