Microphone for 5g iPod?

Is there a microphone for 5g iPod yet? If not are there any alternate solutions for recording audio with iPod?

I also check for product announcements nearly every day. I bought the 5gen iPod specifically for hi-quality audio recording (after reading the technical specs), and was sorely diappointed to find that no mic interfaces exist yet.
What's up apple? It's the christmas shopping frenzy and you can't support your newest and best iPod with a microphone interface?
Incidentally, Gemini makes a mic-to-USB adapter that will work with the 5Gen iPod's hard disk capabilities but it costs $229, almost as much as the iPod itself. Pfft!

  • Question, re: Microphone for 8GB ipod touch

I recently got an 8GB iPod touch. I want to be able to use Skype, but it's telling me I need to connect a microphone. Where can I get a microphone that is known to be compatible with this iPod?

    Hello webofdem,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Is the 8 GB Touch a 1st or 2nd generation? If you don't know, check out this Apple support document for more assistance.

  • Microphones for video iPods finally available

I just got a Belkin TuneTalk Stereo mic for my iPod and am pretty happy with the sound quality of the built-in mic. I also have a couple of Audio-Technica self-powered lapel mics that I'd previously used with a camcorder--using a splitter, I can record an interview with one mono mic in each stereo channel. This way, if I need to, I can equalize the volumes before bouncing it down to a mono podcast. The problem is that the external mics are considerably quieter than the built-in mic. Have others had experience using external mics with video iPod adapters? I'm curious how other mics and other adapters work.

Marina, I wouldn't bother with high-quality mode for lectures. For the last podcast I did, the built-in mic with low-quality mono sounded just fine. I think the limits depend on your sound quality setting, your battery charge, and your available hard drive space. I'm sure the review meant after 90 minutes you'd have to stop recording until you either offloaded your sound file or recharged the battery (don't really know which). The iPod caches the sound to memory, then writes it to the hard drive as needed, so I'm certain they didn't mean stop and restart. I have a 60G iPod with about 20G free, so I can record a lot of interviews, but they tend to be 20 minutes or so each (in low-quality mono), so I've never come close to hitting the limit. I think the reviews at ilounge.com are pretty extensive, and should provide more info on your expected recording length. If you have a laptop and care to connect the iPod to it via USB, it'll work off of the laptop's battery, which could give you a longer recording, but again limited by your iPod's available hard drive space. Hope that helps.

  • Microphone for new iPod nano?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a microphone you can buy for the new iPod Nano? I record a lot of acoustic music and need to get it into my iTunes Library. I'd rather not carry my iBook around.
    Thanks
Aluminum iPod Nano, iBookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

the new nanos can do recording - the old ones cant.
im confused, is this nano your speaking about the
black glossy one?, cuase if it is the microphone
    is
not compatible with it is it?
the new nanos are the 2 generation of the old ones, only apple snatched the samsung glossy nanos since they had the patent and jumped on it at that quarter year, yes seccess story.
But as i remember, they all record yet apple never provided a microphone solution for them., and the older iPods all have accesories like mics etc etc. and all the new iPods do not, or maybe the 30 and 60 gigs do but are very expensive.
Can anyone confirm how to record on a nano and what mics to get?

  • How do I to turn on the microphone for my iPod touch?

We need to turn on the Microphone so that The Furby Boom App will work.  However, can't figure out how to do this
on an Ipod Touch, 4th generation.  Thanks.

There are no controls for the mic. The app should detect and use the built-in mic. Are you getting a message on the iPod when you try to use it in the app?
If you go to Settings>Privacy is the mic allowed?
    - Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens(if has back camera). For the 16 GB one without the back camera the mic hole is on the top edge near the center.
    - Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.

  • Microphone Connection to iPod 5th Generation

    Hi all,
I have a 60 gig video iPod. I am waiting for the arrival of a new Griffin Technologies microphone compatible for this iPod, however their release has been delayed. Or so I have been told by my Apple distributor in Viña del Mar Chile. I want to find out, if I can use my own microphone and mic connector with my iPod. I have a regular mono 3/4 inch jack and an older version of the 635 Electrovoice microphone for work. Any advise on the matter it is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I am pretty sure that you can't.

  • Recommendations for non-headphone microphones for the 6th generation Nano?

Does anyone have recommendations for a microphone for the 6th generation nano that is NOT part of a headphone set? (Think of things like the older third-party products for past nanos or ipods).
    Thank you!

    Hey there,
There are certain compatible mics for the 2nd Generation iPod. When shopping for one, just make sure to look for the compatibility for the 2nd generation iPod. I provided one option below.

Here is the Features Guide for the 2nd generation iPod, which has a section on using a microphone for voice memos(page 43/60). Hope this helps.

  • Photo files willnot show in iT for my iPod.........Please some one help me!

When I load the photos from the file or files i want from my computer, it will not display the file or files on the iTunes work area for my iPod. so i can arange my photos, but it dose load it in to my iPod. When I sync the file it says "up dateing iPod do not unplug" when it is done it will say complete and there will be photos on my iPod but no display on the computer of the files.
    Thanks
    WT

If the folder you are syncing from has sub folders they will show in the box. This allows you to use the selected folders option and choose one or more of the sub folders. For example you may choose to sync from My Pictures and inside My Pictures you have folders for different subjects. You can then choose which of those subject folders you want to update to the iPod or you might want to make a folder in there especially for iPod photos. You can drag these folders into an order of your choice.

  • What do I need to buy in order for my iPod Classic 160GB to connect with my blue tooth speaker

What do I need to buy in order for my IPod Classic 160 GB to connect with my blue tooth Ultimate Ears Boom speaker?

Upgrading RAM and your HD will give you some performance gains, but depending on what you are doing, it may not be enough. Your best friend will always be processor speed. This has a direct relation to how many cores and the speed of the RAM.
However, if you are unable to spring for a new computer, then the options of running more RAM and a biggger, faster HD should ruduce some bottle necks.
Here is a site where you can check out what your computer can handle http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade They have some charts comparing speed gains with various components.

  • Which Microphone for New Mid 2011 Macbook Air 13"

Please recommend a few USB condensor microphones for voice/vocal recordings that is sure to work with the New Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
My 3.5mm to USB adapters that work on my 2009 Macbook Pro with Leopard OS, no longer works with Lion OS
Ill be using this with GarageBand, iMovie & Audacity. Previously I'd use my Azden SMX-10 with the adapter. (the Azden is also used with my Canon DSLR).
    Thanks in advance.

It is entirely possible, as many have known from day one (as ifixit's first teardown revealed). Unlike the unupgradeable memory, the SSD is a discrete expansion card that is removeable with just one screw, after removing the case cover. It is however debateable as to whether such an expansion is worth the possible risk of making demonstrable changes to the MBA whilst still under warranty. So you may want to stave off consideration for a while.
I made the upgrade recently on my older 2010 MBA, and it was easier than upgrading the HDD on my old MacBook Pro.
