Microphone gain boost on Audigy 2 ZS platinum P

Hi. I am using a sony ECM-MS907 microphone on my pc for recording voice etc. However i find that it is too quiet even at the highest volume setting for the microphone. I looked to find the +0db mic gain boost option, but found the microphone and line in input to be merged in the recording control panel and so the microphone gain boost option does not exist. Is there any way that I could get the same result by doing something else, as the quietness is beginning to bother me.

  • Microphone Issue - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio C

Hey there, sorry to post but I've got a little issue which I'm sure is me being stupid but its racking my head so here it comes. I have recently started using talk programs such as vent, skype blah blah to speak to people back home and since moving abroad I have found that now I need the mic to contact these people (which it used to fine before I arri'ved on foreign soil). On clicking on volume control and advance or properties I have nothing in recording for mic and this is where im lost. If I enable the mic on any of the programs people are hearing whatever happens to be coming out of the computer speaks such as games or a movie etc. i've just tried a full removal and reinstallation of the sound drivers for the model in my comp (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio Card).
All my mates are saying surely you cant lose mic from the volume control but yet its gone and I have no idea how to reactivate it. People seemt o think the card is buggered but it seems fine with everything else I fire out.
Any help on how stupid I'm being would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

When I try and connect to SKYPE the recipient informs me that my microphone volume is
too low, as he was unable to hear properly.
I went to the Realtek control panel and I was unable to find a "gain" control for the mic.
Does any one know if there is such a control on the above mentioned panel?
I then went into Windows and found that the microphone control was disabled and I
    could not use.
I then checked my connections on my headphone & mic. they were OK. I re installed
the Realtek drivers, and still the same problem.
I finally went to the SKYPE audio section and was able to adjust the microphone
setting from their. Has any one else had a similar problem?

well sure where there should be a gain option in microsoft sound options not realteks.
There is one, you just have to configure the Microsoft Panel properly, in order to access that option.
    Quote
But it would seem under xp ( maybe not vista) this option is missing or unavailable.
It is neither missing nor is it unavailable.  It is just in a place were you won't expect it intuitively.
    Quote
Realtek & msi need to sort this out.
Not quite right. MSI (or ASUS, ABIT, ASROCK, GIGABYTE, DELL etc.) do not have anything to do with the Realtek Drivers themselves, the Realtek HD Audio Manager Interface or the Functionality of the whole HD Audio Driver Packet.  Realtek (and Realtek only) creates and distributes these standard drivers.  So if you want to complain (I did that myself a couple of times already), do that it here:
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/contact/

didnt allow for the gain option to show properlly in the microsoft sound options.
As I said before, you just have to configure the Windows Audio Panel properly.  My Windows XP Version is German but I hope you will figure it out anyway.
Open the Panel and access properties:
Now select the Audio Jack you want to configure:
Enable "Advanced Options" which will give you an additional Button for "Advanced" Options under the corresponding audio jacks ("Front Green In" in my example):
Click on the box to get access to advanced options (including microphone gain/boost):
    DONE.

  • Microphone connection problems with SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro

I am using an old SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro purchased back in 2004. It is installed on a PC that I stopped using it in 2005. The pc has no problems and I have started using it again. My problem is that I cannot connect the microphone. Everything was working fine at the time I was this pc including the microphone. At that time I had installed win xp pro( no service packs were available). But after I had to move physically in another location(connection and disconnections etc)and a pc format I cannot use the microphone again. I am trying to connect it to the front panel and to the appropriate places as indicated in the user manual but nothing is happening. I have connected properly the sound cart and all other components are working fine. I checked whether the microphone is checked to silent mode and all other software/di'vers nonetheless everything is working fine. I am now using Win xp pro sp3. I have contacted Creative and they told me to check the mic boost option. But there is no mic boost option now. I clearly recall that there was one when I was using this pc in 2004 under win xp pro(again no service packs were available at that time). One solution I could think is to format again and install some old version of win xp pro (say 2003 or so) and then update to current. But I do not want to format again since I do not have that version of windows available(copyright issues may also raise) plus for some other reasons I do not think I should mention them on an Internet forum. I also tried to download the latest drivers ans apps form creative ,clean installation from the orginal cd including Daniel_K pack and everything someone could think without solving the issue.Creative during our last communication in a very polite way told me to stop emailing them and try to solve the issue on my own as this product is no longer supported. One thing I neglected to mention above is that the mic boost option is available in the motherboard sound chipset. I checked it in one of my attempts to solve the problem. But it disappears when installing the SB driver. I know that if I manage to configure mic boost in the driver settings I will solve the problem. But once again there is no such option. Could you please provide with some suggestions and solutions on how to solve this?. Thank you very in advance for any suggestion and help

  • Home studio - Having Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro do I need a mixer for professional recordi

<SPAN class=postbody>Hi, I've got Shure PG 58 (dynamic mic) and Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Is there any sense to buy any mixer or preamp to make the quality better? Do I feel a difference using mixer/preamp ? I really don't know what is the role of the external box of AUDIGY 2 PLATINUM PRO (is it a substitute of mixer/preamp ?) Thank you in advance skorp

it depends on who you ask, but the preferable way for most people is to use a high quality outboard mic preamp and send that into the line in. This is because the mic preamps in most consumer cards are considered cheesy. So boosting the mic up with a preamp gives you the advantage of being able to use the line input with your mic which is generally better quality sound.
As i said tho, it depends on who you ask. I have a shure Beta 57 which is an industry standard for pro sound microphones. Not a $5000 recording mic. But a very good general purpose mic. I go into the audigy 2ZS's mic input. However, to do so you need a impedence transformer (about $20) and you need to wire a stereo mini plug so that it bypasses the power that the jack supplies for PC mics which require it. In any case, i do this because i'm not a subscriber to the "use a preamp into the line in" club. Yes, it will produce better tone, but the question is how much better and how much of that improvment will actually make it to your ear? Personally i have tried both ways and find the difference tobe negligable. I'm sure that could change to some extent with a different card or mic or some other difference. But for me with an audigy 2 and the shure mic with an impedence transformer i get what i feel is very good sound the way i do it. So i really don't care what some may say. (many will insist you're stupid for doing it any other way than a preamp) I've been a musician for over 3 decades now and i know the difference between good and bad sound. And what i get from this setup is very good sound to my ear. Maybe not the best, but it's no slouch !
By the way, the creative box as far as the inputs is just basically an extention of the rear panel to make for the convenience of having your connections up front.

  • AUDIGY 2 ZS PLATINUM PRO : 8-Channel (7.1) Playback in WINDVD 6 Platinum doesn't work proper

    Ok here's the deal.
I have a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
Furthermore I own WINDVD 6 PLATINUM (incl. Booster pack) which supports 8 channel audio.
My speaker system is an analog one. The 8 speaker Creative Inspiron one.. don't know the exact name.
I just did a clean installation of Windows.
I am running windows XP Home SP2 with all latest updates.
Furthermore I installed all Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro updates there are.
    Anyways..
Whenever I switch to 8 channel (7.) playback from within WinDVD only the center and the 2 front channels work. The side (surround) and rear channels aren't working at all!
I get the same problem when I switch to 7 channel (6.) from within WinDVD.
When I click on test (in WinDVD) to see if the channels are working.. the test noise only appears in the front and center channels. However once it gets to the rear channel there's nothing.. and at the side left channel there's this quiet odd noise.
If I switch to 5. (from within WinDVD) mode.. everything is working perfectly... but 5. only..
I want to take full advantage of my soundcard.. and even though WinDVD supports this soundcard.. it doesn't seem to work.
Any other application... CUBASE SX2 or games such as Call of Duty work perfectly fine with all channels.
    Can anyone help me?
Can you recommend any other 8 channel software DVD playback software?
    Thanks
    - Ben
    [email protected]

first of all your questions ain't stupid...you got to learn/understand once right?
**bleep** 3 yrs ago i thought i knew digital audio (mp3/wave on PC and Philips DCC recorder) but then came Dolby Digital & hardwaredecoding...LOL... Lots of differences in channelprocessing & so misconfiguration possible.
Well I hope you didn't uninstall your dvd player software... I mean software audiodecoding like matrixmixer(that you can find in codecpacks, all **bleep** that uses directx this because most of it is max 6bit LOL) ..your talking about all your extra dvd software.(but you don't need their extra audio playing features). Just select the sp-dif audio in WinDVd PowerDVD or NVDVD whateverDVD and then go check the creative soundcard speakersetup(not the windows speakersetup , but prefer to use the creative surroundmixer (click the THX logo/icon under in the creative mixer, and calibrate analog speaker output) etc.
You only need the player 4 dvd playing acces. (DVD-V DVD-A) (prefer the dvd-player for dvd-A in sp-dif mode because then you'll see that some dvd-A's have some videoclips or images. and do check the site of www.slysoft.com and score it in any way )
.. by the way don't forget this about your analog output 3.5mm jacks on the back og the card:
    first channel = 3.5mm 3-pole jack (stereo)
second and third channel = 3.5mm 4-pole jack (stereo portable camera cable works (3xrca).
so don't use stereo jacks on the 2nd & 3th channel...
You can use a portable stereo camera cable because the've on one side 3xrca(yellow/white/red) and on the other side a plastic 4-pole minijack (plastic=preferred because you probably need to make the 4-pole jack smaller with a metal file (be careful not to harm the cable) these cable's are standard and so very cheap. standard meter long.
Final joke: It's nice to have THX@Soundcard + THC@head greetings from a late in the evening Amsterdam NL.Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 05-24-2005 08:20 AM

  • Mic2 front panel of sound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum still not worki

    anyone..... please help!!!
I have a sound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum, everything is hooked up perfectly including all power cable, and connectors to the front dri've bay. I have a samson q7 microphone that is connected using xlr female to /4" plug to the mic2 jack but I got no input signal. I then tried also using just a /4" to /8" to the back mic port of the PCI, no signal either. My friend said this mic doesn't need any other power like a phantom power or anything
    can you please help me!
    X

If you're using a dynamic microphone, the Audigy 2 ZS dri've bay has a jumper which you can change for it to support dynamic microphones instead of electret microphones. However once this is done you won't be able to use electret mics until you've changed the jumper setting back.

  • PLEASE HELP Audigy 2 zs Platinum issue, reading noise from Line i

Hello, any help at all you can give will be greatly appreciated.
I recently installed my Audigy 2 zs Platinum on my computer, it was working fine until I began to record, It was working fine for the first 2 hours of recording however we disconnected the microphone from line in 2 and connected a bass guitar, then it started registering nosie from the line in 2 jack, we the disconnected the bass guitar and the noise continued. I have completly uninstalled all the creative drivers and reinstalled them, as well as checked the cable connections. I have noticed some other odd behaviors, if I plug headphones into the front microphone jack I do not hear static only a sort of blipping like that of a metranome. however if i use my speakers i hear large amounts of static with the blipping in the background, I also tested my speakers with a walkman and they play sound perfectly. All diagnostics tests have come back with everything passing. Any help you can give at all with this would be greatly appreciated.
    I am running:
XP Pro with service pack 2 (installed a long time before sound card)
    nvida graphics card
    Pentium 4 with hyper threading
    Syntax mother board
    tdk cd dri've
    maxtor hard dri've

    Old_School,
A line level out shouldn't cause any problems but it may still be that there is a hardware problem here. To help diagnose this, I would ask that you cleansweep and reinstall the card. Use the instructions here to do this:

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - can't record from front panel "mic-

I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. I have an electric guitar plugged into the "mic-in" port on the front panel. I can hear the guitar through my speakers but I can't record from any program. I've tried using "Creative Wave Studio" and XP's "Sound Recorder" but it doesn't record.
I can record by plugging a microphone into the back mic-in port.
This is very frustrating, please help
    --Dan

First is to set the Recording device to MIC2. The front panel device is considered the second microphone. Basically whatever program you use, I would assume it has to recognize this second microphone. Make sure you ahve it selected under the sound mixer (task bar Icon) "Line in 2/Mic 2" underneath "REC" on far right side. Then you can go from there.

  • Audigy 2 zs platinum pro MIC-IN measures 2 different resistanc

First post for me so I want to say hello to all.
ok i have the audigy 2 zs platinum pro and i am connecting the supplied /8" to /4" adapter into the MIC-IN/LINE- Jack.
i have a /8" stereo jack plugged into that and on the other end is a white and red rca male connectors.
when i measure the white connector i get 340ohms and when i measure the red connector i get 725ohms...
im just wondering what is going on here...
when i measure the resistance on my el-cheapo computer mics....(you know the kind that are like $4.99 and have a base with a long arm....on its stereo /8" male jack it measures 000ohms when ohm meter is connected to its ground ring (and both the tip or center ring)
so im wondering what kind of ill effect this will produce if i connect that computers stereo mic connector into the supplied /8" to /4" stereo adapter and select record from both channels stereo and 2 at same time (on that MIC-IN jack with the Gain turned to "ON" since i measured TWO DIFFERENT resistances mentioned above.

    one more thing
if i turn the mic gain to OFF so it is just in LINE-IN mode when i measure the L channel (the white rca = 2.5kohms) and (the red rca = 26kohms)
note im still using my 2 rca to /8" cable and then hooking that to the supplied /8" to /4" adapter and insert the adapter into the line-in /mic-in jack
?if i do the same test with LINE-IN 2 i get 00Kohms on the left channel (white rca) and on the right channel (red rca) i get 600Kohm and it climbs fast.
    WHAT IS GOING ON!

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs

FSoundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs? ?
    Greetings..
Running into a bit of a issue here I can't seem to fix. I've gone through the troubleshooting guides and FAQs already and they aren't resolving the issue.
My normal setup is a couple of desktop speakers plugged to the rear of the card through the standard ports (non-digital) and a headset with mic plugged to the device in front that includes volume controls for both mic and speakers.
I've just did a complete reinstall of Windows XP (32 bit) including everything up through SP3 and a reinstall of the drivers and associated software applications for the card as well.
The problem I am having is that I can no longer make the rear speakers (desktop speakers) play when plugged in. The 2 headset speakers still play just fine that are plugged in the front however.
What should I do to resolve this issue so that I can have both the desktop speakers and headset speakers both playing? I'm fairly sure I'm just missing a setting somewhere but for the life of me I can't figure where to fix this.
    Thank you,
    Culann HS

JRe: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs0 I'm afriad that the CMSS3D option did not work? ? I still cannot get any speakers to play out of the rear of the soundcard.
As I said before, the goal is to try to get sound to play out of both the headset and the speakers attached to the rear of the soundcard simuntaneously.
The headset is plugged into one of those devices in the front that is in a 5 & /4" bay that has the individual knobs for adjusting volume for the headset and outbound levels for the microphone.
The speakers are plugged into the back of the soundcard and do not play any sound in any of the sockets, starting from the firewire port and counting 3 over.
Any suggestions? I? thought it might have something to do with the setting of the speakers from control panel - > Sounds and Audio Devices -> Advanced and picking the right choice there. No luck however. Same for the Creative Speaker Settings as well.
I'm at wits end and I'd be very thankful to whoever can resolve this for me. =)

I have had this problem ever since I bought the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum.
My creative remote works fine but the<!--StartFragment --> External I/O Module accepts any sigal from any of my other remote controls. So if I want to change anything else in the room like the tvchannel or increas volume on the amplifier, the audigy thinks that i want to change someting like mute och start mediasource player.
At first i thought this was normal but now I cant find anyone else with the same problem.
Everything works fine except for the remote problem. Is this enough to get a new Audigy 2 ZS Platinum?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Can't Play DVD-Audio Di

    Please help!
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum set up. Everything about the card works great - with one exception: the only DVD-Audio disc I can play using the Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player is the demo DVD-audio disc that came with the card!
