Microphone Input Not Showing on Garageband 10.0.1 (Macbook Pro Late 2013)

I am using GB 10.0.1, trying to connect a microphone to my Macbook Pro (Late 2013) and record a few things. But the input doesn't show up at all... The only thing that shows up is "Built In Microphone". What should I do?

Hello,
All of a sudden my Microphone has stopped working on my Macbook Pro, late 2013.
FaceTime works, however they cannot hear me. I have gone into system preference > sound but there is nothing showing up on the input volume.
Anyone got any ideas?

MacBook Pro late 2013 does not show login window after waking from sleep

MacBook Pro late 2013 does not always prompt for login, but opens directly to desktop, even though security settings are setup to prompt for password after 5 minutes. Up to now, this only has happened on battery, machine goes to sleep or lid is closed, 10 minutes pass, lid is opened and desktop is shown instead of lock screen. Console shows, that the machine was actually sleeping (10 min no log entries) and also does not show any error in regards to login window.
This behaviour occurs randomly and I could not track down any root cause/behaviour, yet. Sometimes everything behaves as it should.
Any ideas?

Count me in, I have the same issue, and from what I read here, it looks like a Yosemite/SSD related issue ?
I'm not 100% sure if it started when I put a SSD in my old iMac 2009 (as a fusion drive) or if that's after that when I upgraded to Yosemite...
I did disable auto poweroff like suggested in another thread : Mac freeze during the night sleep.
sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
We'll see if it helps.
It happens toughly a couple of times a week.

MacBook Pro late 2013 not charging

Hello guys!
Well, I'm having a problem with my laptop. (MacBook Pro late 2013, 15" 2.3 GHz, 16 GB ram etc) Today, my battery went down to 3% and I connected it to its charger but it does not do anything. No light at all and of course no charging. As far as I can remember, before it died it did not show "Not charging" instead of the battery percentage or anything. Tried removing the long cable and using the short one but still nothing. Tried different outlets, nothing. I read on the internet multiple suggestions and tried most of them (its dead so I can not do anything software related). Tried cleaning the MagSafe, turning it upside down, warming up the charger a little, still nothing. The complicated things are: I live in Greece (no apple stores), so i cannot just go to the genius bar to get it checked. It probably is the charger, but it might as well be a problem with the device itself, and I cannot just buy another charger to try it since they are expensive. By the way, once a few months ago, the charger got really hot and did not work at all until it cooled down a little. Any other advice?

Movies Purchased on iTunes via iOS Devices not showing up in iTunes on my MacBook Pro

I have some 40 movies that I have purchased through iTunes on my iPhone. They all show up on my iOS devices as well as my Apple TV but only 8 of them show up on iTunes on my MacBook Pro. I have read threads from other users that found a resolution to their problem by "unhiding" the movies through iTunes in the Cloud but my account only shows Manage Devices & iTunes Match, so that didn't help unfortunately. I am runing the latest version of Mountain Lion and iTunes and I have gone to "Check for Available Downloads" but a window just pops up saying "All purchases have been downloaded for this Apple ID". Does anyone have any ideas or guidance on what I could or should do?

Go to the iTunes Store > Purchases, and then you should be able to see your purchases. Click the cloud icons to download your purchases. Also go to iTunes Preferences, go to the Store tab and make sure that Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases is checked.

IPhoto 9.5.1 is not showing old albums in library on MacBook Pro

My iPhoto version recently upgraded to version 9.5.1. After this upgrade, my older albums are not showing in iPhoto. Has anyone else experienced this?
Any help will be most appreciated.

That is difficult, since you upgraded the library to iPhoto 9.5.1.
I think my issue is that it not recognizing any of my old photos in my library.
Is your library completely empty? Then you are probably now viewing a new library and not your old library. Which version of iPhoto did you upgrade from? And where is your old library stored? On your internal drive or an external drive?
If you upgraded from iPhoto '08, you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader, before you can open the library in iPhoto 9.5.1., see: iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

Firewire Firelight not showing up as bootable disc on Macbook Pro

I have a Firelite FWFL40P firewire external harddrive that has system 10.4.8 installed on it. IF i hook it up to my iMac G5 , It shows up and boots as a bootable Disk (system preferences->Start-up Disk), but when I attach it to my MacBook pro Dual, it won't show up. I think it used to with older OS.

It is because a MB only boots from a GUID Partititon Table and The G5 only boots from and Apple Partition Scheme. If you wish to use this on both machines for doc storage/transfer your best bet is the Apple Partition. If you need a bootable exteranal GUID is the only choice for the MBP. One disk cannot boot both machines. Two partitions will not work as the partition scheme is the culprit here.
Disk Utility>50 GB??(disk not volme)>Partition>Options> Here you select the partition scheme. GUID will boot MacBook only Apple will boot G5 only'

I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro. I installed iOS5 on my iPad and iPhone4S. I have activated iCloud on all three devices. The Calendar changes are moving between the iPad and iPhone4S but NOT showing up in iCal on the MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?

Help. I have double checked everything I and my husband can think of. I need to be able to print out my daily agenda and I can only do that from the MacBook Pro. And of course it is the devise that is not getting the updated iCal data. Any suggestions?

IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. I am not able to update iMovie to my macbook pro late 2011 which came bundled with it.

It shows that imovie update is available in the update tab, but it doesn't show in the purchased tab. iLife '11 came bundled with my Macbook Pro but when I try to update iMovie, it tells me to sign in with the apple id that I purchased it with. I have no other apple ID. Sometimes it tells me that I had to have purchased it from the app store first before I can update it. What's the solution to this problem, please. iPhoto updated with no problem. There was no update for Garage Band so I don't know if that will be a problem when an update is available. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but that didn't work for me. The trouble was imovie wasn't showing up in my purchases even though it was saying I needed an update because it was installed on my computer. I finally contacted the itunes app store. I was told that the imovie app shows up as a purchase for my apple ID. I had to delete it from my applications folder, then repurchase it. That worked. Apple refunded the money to my card once I provided the order number to them. All is well, now.

Macbook pro (late 2013) states it has ddr3 and not ddr3l.

Does anyone actually see DDR3L in the system information? I know they're supposed to come with ddr3l.

Apple support did not tell bennynjets that using resource-intensive applications could cause the text to change to "DDR3L." Yet this is what they told to Zekepao (see Zekepao's post right above this one). Seems like that would definitely be worth mentioning considering the concern about the memory and how extraordinary such a text change in the system report would be. But, people, take a moment to think about it. They are seriously saying that the text in the system report will CHANGE depending on the memory exertion? I challenge anyone to demonstrate this. It is clearly a load of garbage, evidencing that they do not mind lying to consumers. If they felt the need to tell someone that lie, it casts a LOT of doubt on their claim that all the late 2013 macbook pro with retina display laptops indeed have ddr3L RAM.
OK, so how about we all just open up our computers and check to see what RAM we have? Oh, wait. We can't do that beacuse the RAM is now a part of the motherboard (that's why RAM is not upgradable in this model post purchasing) and opening the computer voids any Apple warranty on the computer (I believe). I also bet that, just like in the system report where no serial number is provided for any of the hardware that could be looked up by the consumer to find out more information, if someone actually were to open the computer and tear up the motherboard to locate the ram, that it would be unidentifiable. I bet someone would have to perform tests on it to see that its voltage is, in fact, 1.5 V (DDR3) and not 1.35 V (DDR3L) as advertised (this is just what I believe would happen).
Yes, Apple offers fantastic and expensive products and seems to take extraordinary pride in their customer service. But don't let this lull you into a false sense of security as far as their honesty when they can get away with very small lies in order to save a little bit more cash on every computer they sell. Apple is a corporation and they discuss earnings and how to take in the most profit in their board meetings. Don't be naive.

I bought 2 months ago an amazing new macbook pro 13', late 2013. I just saw that there is a very little 'hole' in the screen at the level where left corner of the trackpad (near of keyboard). I have absolutely not done it accidentally. I take care of it so much, its my baby. I mean, such a procy baby, gotta take care of it, i clean smoothly and etc.
Is there anything i can do about it with apple? It doesnt go away. I study in graphic design so this little thing is like, high disturbance, like, bigger than dead pixels...

About all you can do is take it to the Genius Bar and make your case. It's pretty much up to them as to whether they feel it's manufacturing defect or something you did. Had you found it in the first 2 weeks it likely wouldn't have been an issue. They're generally very nice people.

Retina MacBook Pro Late 2013 not charging?

Bought my MacBook about a year ago, and very happy with it.
However just a couple of days ago, it stopped charging? The light wouldn't come on at all..
So I opened up my spare MagSafe 2 charger and tried that in a different power outlet and it still didn't work
I've done some research and I have checked that the battery is still in 'good' condition (checked it in the utilities or something) and that it does not need replacing at the moment
so perhaps something is wrong with the port?
stupidly enough I have not backed up my laptop, and it has plenty of important files
what should I do?

If you are having an issue with being unable to charge your MacBook Pro's battery using either power adapter, I would suggest that your next step would be to reset the system management controller. Use the steps in this article -
