Microphone level automatically resetting

I have set the microphone level on my iMac a number of times now and it keeps reverting back to the default level. I discovered this after my second or third video conference with iChatAV. The (same) person on the other end complained about my audio levels so I found that the level was reset in System Preferences. How do I get the microphone level to stay where I set it? Thanks.
cgreco16

This is a "feature" of iChat AV.
It has a built in Automatic Gain Control that resets your mic to between 67 and 80% whenever you open the preferences or un-mute it.
The only work-around that I am aware of is, since I use an external mixer, I set the input to be at the AGC level so I don't over drive it when the AGC does it's thing.

  • LCD brightness level automatically reset

    Dear Experts and other user,
Started from yesterday, my T61 laptop LCD brightness level automatically reset to lower in everytime i started it. I needed to manually tune up the brightness level.
The laptop is firmly connected to the AC power. And i have did nothing under the Windows system. Is it any hardware issue or software configuration issue?
Many thanks with your attention and advise.
    ED

My "energy saver" pref does NOT have the options for "Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before the display sleeps" item mentioned above. It has only the 4 following entries:
    Wake Options:
-Wake when the modem detects a ring
-Wake for Ethernet network administrator access
    Other Options:
-Allow power button to sleep the computer
-Restart automatically after a power failure
This option does show up in the help file and I am imagining that I either don't have the hardware to support it or it is geared for laptops.
I have tried using the terminal to issue a pmset command (logged in as root of course) to see if I could affect this behavior.
    pmset -a lessbright 0
    pmset -a halfdim 0
neither of them showed up in the file:

I am trying to record in Garageband. I have a mic plugged in to my Avid Mbox and the Mbox into my Mac. The levels on the microphone keep automatically going down, during recording. This even happens when I set the track volume. What could this be cause of this?
    Thank you

This causes problems for me. When I place a single .mbox file into a new folder and import that folder I get the following dialogue:
When I click 'continue' I get a new import folder, but the formatting is a garbled nightmare of seemingly random subdirectories upon subdirectories:
Each of the subdirectories under "ASV" should have just contained messages, not lots of embedded subdirectories. Am I doing something wrong?
P.S. I am trying to move mail from an iMac running 10.7.5 to a new iMac running 10.10.1

  • Microphone level adjusts itself

    Greetings,
Fresh install of Windows 7 Pro, SP1, 64 bit.  On-board RealTek HD audio device, latest drivers.
Right-click taskbar speakers, select 'Recording Devices', right-click microphone, select 'Properties'.
Click 'Levels' tab and leave that on screen.
Now click 'Start', 'Control Panel', and 'Ease of Access'.  Next click 'Set up a microphone'.
During this process, the microphone level slider will adjust itself.  Eventually, it will adjust itself down to zero.
This makes it virtually unusable.  The computer will catch the first part of a sentence, then adjust the microphone to the point where it thinks you've stopped speaking.
How can I stop this behaviour?  I have found no settings in either windows or my audio driver to stop it from automatically adjusting the microphone input level.  I have searched and found this problem listed in several places with no reliable
solution.  There must be a way, and if you know what it is, let me in on it!
Thank you for your time and assistance.

  • Microphone level adjusting itself (to zero) while skyp

    hi folks,
I got an issue. When i start using the microphone via Skype, the microphone level mysteriously starts adjusting itself to zero. When I open the sound properties and the window where the microphone sound level is at, i can see the slider going down after having skyped a few seconds. The only way to overcome this problem at the moment is to 'grab' the slider (with pressed mouse button) and to adjust the volume level all the time manually while skyping. That's totally hillarious. How can i fix that?
I got all other mics disabled and an Audigy 2 ZS with the newest drivers, Vista 32 bit clean install, a Sennheiser Headset.
    Please help!
    Greetings,
    F.

Skype reduces vollume automaticall if its going to loud. And then Skype resets the position of this slider to this value as long Skype is running. Its a **bleep** crap thing of skype, not of your soundcard. And PS: Dont use skype. U dont know what it does with your system. The only thing, what is known: it uses your system as a peer to peer proxy. Sounds not that cool.

  • Does SAP increase SM50 ... - trace level automatically?

    Hi experts,
Does SAP increase SM50 ... -> trace level automatically? I find file system is full in application server from time to time and I find trace level increases to 2 from default: 1. Why? How do I prevent from reoccurring?

    Hello
These files are work process trace files, this has nothing to do with the system log.
You can restrict these file growth using instance parameter rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING as stated in the here under note.
Check also the value of instance parameter rdisp/TRACE as stated in note 112 - Trace and error information in the "dev_" files

How can I prevent trace files that are increasing in size from filling the hard disk and causing the system to shut down?
    - Reset the trace files (as described as Section 1 of note 532918).
    - Set the "rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING = on, 10 m" profile parameter

  • Microphone FP recording resets to Microphone!!

Ever since I've had my Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium Fatalty Professional Series card, it automatically resets what channel I record from.
I always have to go into the console and change it back to Microphone FP, since my headphones are plugged into the front port. I'm not sure why it resets itself but I'll get on my pc and try talking in a game and it doesn't work and I will instantly know what the deal is. Its just really getting annoying.
Any ideas on how to keep it from auto changing itself?

  • Zoom level keeps resetting in Acrobat X

Can someone tell me how to set the zoom level to be constant? Everytime i open a PDF, the zoom level is reset (usually to a very low zoom level). And everytime i click a bookmark, the zoom level gets reset.
In preferences i have the zoom level set to "fit visible" but it does absolutely nothing...

When bookmarks are set up, they can specify a specific zoom setting, or they can inherit the previous zoom. So how they behave depends on how they are set up. You can use various preferences to override the intial zoom setting of a document, but not of "go to view" actions of bookmarks, links, bottons, etc.

  • Does the WCS automatically reset radios?

I have a WCS, four 5508 controllers, Cisco 3750X switches, and both autonomous Cisco 1200, and LightWeight 3502i  in service.
The problems I am having, is that some of my Access Point reset for no apparent reason, and I get alerted by my NMS.
When I look at the switch port, that connects an access point that reported down, I see the POE switch port went down and back up in 4 seconds, just long enough for the access point to reset.
There are no errors on the switch port(s).  No cable or speed/duplex issues. Switch IOS: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.se1
There are no other pertinent entries in the switch log.  Just that the port went down and then back up. Always in 4 seconds.
When a reset happens the WCS reports on the access point:
'802.11/b/g/n' interface of AP associated to controller 172.20.0.x is down. Reason: Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported
But nothing else, except that the radio came back up.
This is happening two or three times a day, and rotates. It seems that it never happens at the same time of the day, or the same access point, or the same switch.  (I have over 1000 access points and 500 switches in service)
I am curious if the WCS is automatically resetting the access point radios, which is causing the switch port to go down/up?
And if so, is it possible to turn off the automatic reset?
Any suggestions on what I can do to find out what is causing this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Automatic reset problem (Palm Centro)

Recently, my phone begins to have a new problem.
When I use the phone, it automatically resets if I touch the screen during the conversation.
    It disrupt my conversation.
I had done hard reset; but, the problem came up again.
    What can I do?

Did the problem immediately return when you finished the Hard Reset, or after doing a HotSync?  If the latter, then the problem is software-related and saved on your computer.
Did the phone get damaged in any way?  Get wet?
Here's my normal help file for clearing out reset problems:
As with most problems that occur on a Palm phone or PDA, it is either software or hardware related and we have to determine which one.
Best method is to first make a complete backup of your unit to your SD card using the free "NVBackup" (available from http://www.freewarepalm.com) After the backup is complete, Hard Reset the unit, then test to see if full functionality returns.
Perform a Hard Reset as described in this Palm KB article: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/45050_en.html
DO NOT HOTSYNC YET! Test the unit before reinstalling any software. If the unit works correctly, your problem is being caused by a "drug interaction" of software - maybe one rogue program, or a combination of several. You'll have to reinstall the third-party programs one or a few at a time to find the problem one. To avoid re-installing a software issue, rename your /Backup directory in your Palm folder (on a PC it's found here: C/Program Files/Palm(One)/"your HotSync ID name truncated"/Backup) to something like "/BackupOLD". Now perform the HotSync, choose your HotSync name you've been using, and all your PIM data will return, but not the third-party programs. Test for functionality again. If all is good, start installing the old programs from your /BackupOLD directory one (or a few if brave) at a time.
If the unit does not work after a Hard Reset is performed correctly, then it may be Hardware-related. (If it's a connection problem via either BlueTooth or Wifi, be sure nothing has changed on the unit you're trying to connect to!)
    Hope this has helped,

  • Automatic reset of sbRIO-9626

We have an sbRIO-9626 mounted on a main board using the RMC connector.  Is there any way to have the sbRIO-9626 automatically reset itself if the SW hangs, like a watchdog functionality of sorts?  Or does this have to be handled externally on the main board using a device to trigger the SYS_RST# pin, e.g. if the SW doesn't toggle an IO pin on a regular interval?  Unfortunately, we do not currently have access to the SYS_RST# pin on the main board.  So I hope this can be handled internally on the sbRIO-9626. :-)
    Thanks!

    Hi ojohnsen79,
There are multiple ways to implement watchdog functionality with a RIO target, such as Single-Board RIO or CompactRIO.
There are dedicated watchdog functions in the RT pallets, with an overview of the RT watchdog capabilities in the LabVIEW Help.
In addition, there is a dedicated IO node in the FPGA target for System Reset.
Programmatically Resetting the CompactRIO or Single-Board RIO System (FPGA Interface)
This dedicated IO node can be used in a loop that is checking for responsiveness from the RT host processor.  In the event that the RT application becomes unresponsive, the FPGA can set IO values to a safe state and reset the system.  An example project for this type of application is also demonstrated on ni.com here:

I am no longer able to turn off cellular data usage for individual apps.
When I turn most of them off, they just automatically reset themselves to allow data usage.
    Any thoughts?

I am definately having the same problem and cannot believe there are no answers or even support that this problem exists.  I never have to post on forumns, I read what is usually readilly availiable for the craziest of problems.
Anyways, the problem is just that, I can toggle off a individual app's setting of cellular data availability, but it changes right back on rescreening.  After restarting, resetting etc, it seems that the big Apple Apps are the biggest offenders.  Music is a very important one, Podcasts can kill you very quickly, app store, Photos, Facetime, Stocks?!?!?!
When one searches for solutions I have to see hundreds of links to "How great is ios7, you can turn off cellular data for individual apps FOR DUMMIES!".  I am a dedicated apple fool since the Apple IIe (long time), but when they run afowl it is usually really bad.  Why offer an on/off switch if the setting is always on?
I am writing just to add support to the existence of this problem, not so much for people to offer ideas of solutions as I now believe it is in the coding.
    Thank you

  • Seeking Diagnosis: ADSL Max: Automatic Reset of Hu...

I’m hoping that the forum can suggest a diagnosis for an intermittent problem with my BT broadband link. I’ve been told in the past that my link uses ADSL Max. The problem has occurred before, though not for a couple of months, and not since an NTE5 and service-specific face plate were installed. I previously posted about this under the title “BT Hub3 - What Exactly Does 'Connection time' Mean?”.
The problem is that the Hub (specifically a Hub 3) performed an automatic reset (after the connection had been stable for almost 25 days), and on completion of the reset the upstream bit rate had fallen to a mere 160 kbit/s. The downstream bit rate had also fallen, but only slightly, and its value remained perfectly acceptable given the length of my phone line.
I’ve pasted below some statistics that I took from the hub manager, together with the date and time of their retrieval. Clearly the problem is correlated with, and probably caused by, a decline in the Noise Margin Up figure from 21.0 dB to 5.0 dB, and I’m interested in knowing whether this is symptomatic of a fault in BT’s network, or of any other obvious cause. I was actually talking on my phone line when the reset occurred, and I was alerted to it by crackling on the line.
Having identified the reduction in upstream bit rate I recovered the situation by unplugging the broadband cable and then plugging it in again a few moments later. I suspect that had I not done this the upstream bit rate would still be far too low. It is reasonable to expect that a low upstream bit rate would be corrected automatically, but my past experience is that this does not happen, and I’d be interested in knowing whether dynamic line management focuses exclusively on the downstream bit rate.
    Thanks in anticipation.
