Microphone not working on dv9000 since upgrading to Windows 7

I upgraded from windows vista to windows 7, and now my internal microphone won't work ...  which is irritating as I want skype my kids!
I've tried searching for answers on the web and on this forum, but it seems that there's not an obvious answer ... and it looks as though HP is no longer supporting this series of laptop dv9000 in Windows 7? Is that true?
Anyone know of any workarounds so I can get my sound back adn actually talk to my kids instead of pathetically waving at them?? Many thanks for any advice

  • Mail Signatures, Folder Organization, Notification and Attachments not working the same since upgrade to Mavericks

    Hi All,
Normally very quick to do so, I’ve been hesitant to upgrade to Mavericks based on so many issues being reported with Mail + Gmail.
Previously Apple released a fix for these issues and I still waited a while.  This weekend I upgraded to Mavericks and Mail is definitely not working as I’d expect it.
Some of the things I notice include:
    1) My saved mail folders, previously in alphabetical order, are now in reverse alphabetical order and dragging them to be in a different order has no effect
    2) Previously when I clicked on a message and pressed Message > Remove Attachments the message would reappear in my inbox within a second or two, without the attachment.  Now, the message simply disappears.
    3) The little red icon no longer appears in the dock when a new message arrives
    4) For my various accounts, signatures do not appear/disappear as I select a different From account (each of my accounts has different signatures).
Does anyone have thoughts on any of these items?
    Thanks,

Not an answer, but a repeat ...
I too have problem (2) -- Remove Attachment now makes the email in question disappear (in fact moving it to Archive).
    Help would be appreciated.
(Have just moved from Lion to Mavericks.)

  • Korg Nanopad not working in Garageband since upgrading to Lion

I've just upgraded to Lion and the new update to Garageband but have found that my Korg Nanopad's not working anymore. I've got a Nanokey and that's fine but not the Nanopad. I've Downloaded and installed all new drivers etc... but still no luck and strangely now I can only get Mac to recognise one midi input at one time where I used to get the ability to run two at once in Snow Leopard. I get the light on the unit and when I tap the XY pad, I see a little dot appear in Garagebands LED area but none of the pads are making sounds like they used to. Not sure if it's a note mapping issue but have hit the frustrated level now.
I'm hoping someone can shed some light as it used to be pluginplay goodness.
    Many thanks.

Have you tried using the editor? to set the notes on the Nano? Maybe something in your set up got wiped in the updates?

  • Wi-fi not working as well since upgrading to 4.2.1

Hi don;t if anyone else has got this problem but i have a netgear wnr2000 router and its been working finr but now i get drops in the service. The only way i can restore fucntionaility is to do a softreset of the iphone. There something not quite right about the wifi aspect of this phone since moving to 4.2.1.

    Hi,
Have you tried a reset? Hold the Home and Sleep button till you see the Apple logo appear (ignoring the 'Swipe to Turn Off' message) and allowing the phone to start up again.
Now test it to see if the issue has been cleared up.
When you upgraded, did you restore from backup? It is possible that there is a corruption in that backup causing the issue. So you could try to Restore to 'New'.
Be careful though as everything will be deleted off the phone. You will need to sync everything, Contacts, Apps, Music, etc and download any photos in the camera roll before to do this step.
Once restored to 'new', test the phone in its basic state to see if that has cleared the issue, and then re-sync everything back on without using the old backup.

  • Since upgrade to Windows 8.1, ICloud does not work

Since upgrade to Windows 8.1, ICloud does not work.  I could click on buttons for Reminders, Notes, etc. and would take me into ICloud to share with other devices. No longer functions.

    Hi:
I can't help you with why your PC won't upgrade to W8.1, but I can tell you that if you manage to get W8.1 to install, you won't be able to get the graphics to work anymore.
There is no W8.1 driver for the graphics setup in your PC.
So maybe it is a good thing that you can't get it to work.

  • Microphone not working DV9500

I have an HP Pavillion dv9500 CTO. It came built with Vista in which I updated to Windows 7 (32 bit) upon its release.
I have since then not had a need for my computers microphone until recently. I am using skype for various purposes. I have come to discover that the microphones (there are two on each side of the webcam) do not work. I remember them working in games with voice chat when I was running vista.
Since upgrading to Windows 7 I have made sure all my drivers are correct and working.  I've tried updating and downgrading my Realtek HD Audio Drivers to get them to work.
It seems like the microphones have some input into the system since the sound indicators for each seem to move slowly but do not respond to my voice or loud noises around them. I do believe I had them working for a minute or two once and then something happened and they haven't worked since.
I can use a usb headset on the system and it works like a charm. I have not though tried inputting a microphone into the microphone jack as I haven't owned a plug in microphone since the early 2000s
If there are any ideas on how to get the microphones working please feel free to help!
    Thanks

    Hi:
Sometimes if you just let Windows install the audio driver, it is incomplete--meaning it works the speakers but sometimes the other items like the microphone don't work.
I have a HP dc7600 business desktop PC. When it had XP, the internal PC speaker worked. When I upgraded it to W7, if I connected external speakers to it, they worked.  However, if I unplugged the speakers, the internal PC speaker didn't work. I really didn't care, except for the fact that I don't like when stuff doesn't work as it is supposed to.
So, I visited the Realtek site, and downloaded the latest W7 driver at the time and it fixed the internal speaker not working issue.
According to the system specs for your notebook you have the Realtek HD audio chip, correct?
If so, try downloading and installing the latest Realtek HD audio driver directly from the Realtek site.
Accept the agreement, download and install the first or second driver on the list depending on what bit version of W7 you installed.

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1.  The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.

  • Internal Microphone not working for L505D-S5983 (PLEASE HELP!)

    Hi,
I can't seem to get my internal microphone to work. I have enabled it under Sound->Manage Audio Devices
->Recording tab. However the green vertical bar does not detect any voice. After setting the Microphone boost to +40dB, it detected some noise (since it has some green light) but I realized it wasn't detecting my voice. Since this did not work, I re-set the Microphone boost to only +10dB.  I only have one internal microphone and no external microphone.
I have seen many postings on internal microphones not working on Toshiba laptops but couldn't find a solution to mine. Can someone please help? I think it's about time that Toshiba fix this issue after the countless complaints.
    FM.

No mentions of reinstalling the sound driver. That sometimes turns on the microphone.

  • USB webcam microphone not working with Starcraft 2 voice chat

=USB webcam microphone not working with Starcraft 2 voice chat?Windows 7, X-fi Fatalty Pro
I have a webcam with ?a built in microphone (Ps3 eye). ?It is connected by USB. ?The drivers are the CL-Eye drivers; a third party driver set since Sony does not directly support the eye for PC.
in the windows audio device management, the microphone appears as normal and is set as the default device. ?I can use the windows sound recorder to record me speaking just fine. ?However if I use any other applications it doesn't seem to work at all. ?I can select the device as the default recording device in Starcraft 2 as well as Teamspeak 3 but no sound is detected. ?The USB microphone does not show up as a selectable device in recording options in my Creative Control Panel. ?Disabling the default creative microphone does nothing.
I think the problem is in that windows can directly detect the microphone and so software that uses the windows audio device manager works fine, but anything that talks directly with my sound card software does not properly detect the microphone. ?Basically, I can select the device as a default device but it does not work.
Any thoughts on this or am I SOL and have to find myself a shiny new headset?

I had the same problem. You need to check the device index of your USB mic.
In my case. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.6 system. I had four devices cataloged. With the last one being the USB mic.
    Then set like so in your AS code audioPub.microphoneManager.micIndex = 3;
Remember, that the indexing is 0 based.
The sound framework make the assumption that the index is 0.
    Hope that helps.

  • Microphone not working with speakerphone

I recently purchased a iPhone 4 which is pre-owned.  I soon discovered that the microphone is not working when ever I'm using speakerphone.
The microphone works fine otherwise and I can hear the call fine when in speakerphone mode.  The problem is only with the microphone not working while in speakerphone mode.  Based on some initial Google searches, I can see this is a relatively common issue on iPhones (4 & 4s models) but have not seen a way to resolve.  Please help me resolve.

This may be relevant. I've been getting warnings "Device storage almost full" recently - even though I have an SD card that is almost empty. I suppose the device doesn't know to automatically use that for any downloaded/photos, etc.
In any case, I made some room, but is it possible that "core" stuff may have been overwritten (obviously some kind of s/w bug if so). How likely would this scenario be? I realize that anything is possible, including a meteor strike - but I was curious whether this is something that is "realitiscally" likely with the current BB OS.
Also, if I back up my data, do an OS reload, and then restore my data - is there a chance that the problem might come back? (given that the data I will back up now will have "more space" than when the warnings started coming, since I deleted some stuff).
    Thanks again.

  • Hp photosmart 7525 not printing since upgrade to windows 10

Unable to print since upgrading to Windows 10.I've deleted the printer and reinstalled the driver to no avail.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums, and thanks for posting! :cathappy: I'd like to help you get your HP Photosmart 7525 e-All-in-One printer up and running on your new Windows 10 operating system. You've mentioned that you already tried installing the drivers from the HP website. If the Windows 10 driver that you have downloaded does not work, I'd recommend trying the Windows 8.1 driver (the operating systems have the same core functionality, so the Windows 8.1 driver works fine on Windows 10). You can also try uninstalling the software you do have, and re-installing using the HP Printer Install Wizard. The Printer Install Wizard, can fix many software issues automatically. Hope this helps!

  • Myi iphone4  microphone not working and the home button not work after IOS6 updat

Myi iphone4  microphone not working and the home button not work after IOS6 updat

Did you try another restore and this time not to restore from a backup and see if that makes a difference? This is what Apple would tell you to do next based on my iphone 5 fiasco.
Make sure all your data is available on your computer for manual syncing later.
Since you did the hard reset I assume that means your home button isn't broken only that it got frozen before. Were you able to get the Apple logo after the reset? Did it boot?
And you are using iTunes 10.7?
I'm just trying to help get you going.

  • Microphone not working Windows 10

I have an Asus GL551 series laptop and I just upgraded to Windows 10. I have all updated drivers and I use Realtek HD Audio Manager. My microphone works except when on Skype, which before upgrading I had no issues. The microphone is working but the gain is very low, but my mic works fine on Google Hangouts, and other applications. I was able to fix it by going into control panel-communications-then set communication activity to "do nothing" when it was previously set to "reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%." It worked for a minute, but then the person on the other end couldn't hear me anymore. The settings were still the same from when I changed them. I've tried configuring my microphone, changing the boost, not having Skype automatically adjust microphone settings, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, and Skype. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Why iMessage is not working properly anymore since i've uploaded the new iOS 6 ??

Why iMessage is not working properly anymore since i've uploaded the new iOS 6 ??

I'm having the same problem. I have a 4th gen 32GB iPod Touch, and since upgrading to iOS6, iMessage has been nothing but buggy. It will work for an hour or so, and then randomly stop working as it won't send or receive messages. There's nothing wrong with my wifi, because that's the same as it was before. I really hope someone knows something to fox this problem. Some people use iMessage for good reasons - it needs to be a reliable messaging service like it was in iOS5.

  • Why iPhone 6 Plus sound microphone not working, but in the case of sound recordings in conversation mode work?

Why iPhone 6 Plus sound microphone not working, but in the case of sound recordings in conversation mode work?

Sighhhh, wasted so much time yesterday and today going around Sony centre and then carphone warehouse. They told me to come back after Easter.
I came home, banged the phone against the wall and it worked.
Turned out that mic was working on loud speaker and when using headphones so I thought that the secondary mic is working and the main one (placed with the speakers) isn't. So I banged that part against the wall slightly (in plastic case to prevent scratches) then put the phone underwater, waited for it to dry and now it's working. Idk how well and if it's of perfect quality again but people can hear me well.
