Microphone not working on pavilion dv7 Notebook QG728EA#ABU Windows 7 Pro

Well I am sorry to see no one has yet to reply to my post on my defective laptop. But if anyone at HP support would reply it would be helpful!!!
Also to add now to the microphone fault above and I now experiencing problems with the in-built video camera not working it is the same issues as above as in you have to move the laptop screen backwards & forwards to get to work..i.e. there is fault with the hardware connections matrix for the device.
Can someone please answer my questions!!

This definitely sounds like a hardware issue with the webcam/mic in the notebook. I would recommend calling HP phone support at 1-800-474-6836 to have it repaired or replaced.

  • Microphone not working on Pavilion dv7

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 with Windows 7.  I have had it for over 2 years and am just now attempting to get the microphone to work and having no luck.  I have done the Audio Troubleshooter which could not identify the problem.  If I go into the Control Panel > Sound and the Recording tab it lists External Mic (Currently unavailable), Integrated Microphone Array (Default Device), and Stereo Mix (Ready).  I assume this means there is a mic built in, but am not sure if this is correct.  I have never used a microphone before and don't know what the problem might be.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi i have the same computer with the same problem if i use a external microphone it work but due to the fact i hate the external microphone i don't understand why i cann't just talk...if some know please let us know thanks

  • Internal microphone not working on pavilion dv7

My mic seems to have stopped working on skype and after trying to follow someones advice on a different forum I may now have deleted the mic driver !!
    Can anyone help?

    Hi,
Start the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In to the Run box type msconfig and hit enter.  In the following window, click the Start up tab, remove the tick next to Skype and then click Apply to make the change.  Reboot the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook again and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - see if this has helped the issue.

  • Internal Microphone not working on Pavilion dm4 Laptop

I have an IDT High Definition Audion CODEC internal microphone on a Pavilion dm4 laptop.
I was advised by an helpful HP support person to uninstall and re-install drivers and this I have done a couple of times.
Occasionally the microphone works but more often it is still not working from Start up. It is not working today!
I am trying to use Skype.
I have checked that the driver is up to date. ( right click on IDT in Device Manager) and this was confirmed.
I would be very grateful for any other suggestions.
    Christopher

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I opened the Sound control panel as you suggested and the Internal Mic (IDT) is shown in the list of microphones and has a green tick ( and is already enabled in properties). It is selected as a default device. ( the icon shows a picture of the laptop indicating the microphone on the lid  not the picture of the microphone as shown in your clip)
In the Sound control window there is a sound indicator panel to the right of the internal Mic Icon that has a green bar that moves up and down - indicating that the microphone is responding to sound.
However it is still not working in Skype and it is the Internal Mic that is selected as the device here.
Very frustrating as I really would like to Skype. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Skype Version 5.5.0.117 and this has not made any difference.
    Any other thoughts?

  • My onboard speakers are not working hp pavilion dv7 lap top

all drivers on my pavilion dv7 show working ok, sound is enabled----- no sound?

Source- Had the same issue a month ago- went through tech support
Open device manager, there will be a drop down list. Find Sound, Video and Game Controllers and open the drop down meny there. Then select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC, right click and select uninstall. Dont worry about checking delete  driver software from this device.
When it's removed from the list hit scan for hardware changes. Might take a few seconds, but it will pop back up.
I checked through everything 3 times over, did the audio troubleshoot and scanned forums for 3 hours... Apparently some of the drivers are more than a little bit wonky. Try it.

  • Internal microphone not working on Pavilion DV6915NR

    Hello,
I recently downgraded from VISTA to XP and got everything working OK apart from the microphone. Speakers are working OK with the drivers Conexant HDAudio-221_XP (got from RapidShare).
I installed the drivers using the  WiSVHe5.inf file, but no way to have the mike working.
In device manager, I had an unrecognized device which I suspected was the microphone, and the only driver which installed OK is the conexant RipTide Input device, but still no microphone. Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance !

  • DVD/CD not working on pavilion g7 Notebook

can open the tray and insert the disc. Close the tray and nothing happens

    Hi @Carol_in_SW_IN
    Thank you for your reply.
I regret that your product number alone did not provide enough information, when I did the search I got multiple results.
Would you  also provide the series such as Elitebook or Pavilion G6 or Envy 4 to assist me in locating your notebook?
If you go to Device Manager and click on action and then select scan for hardware changes  does it pick up the CD/DVD  ROM drive?
You could also click on view and show hidden devices.
Do you see any unknown devices?
As you did receive this for Christmas you could also contact HP support for assistance as you should be in warranty.  They can remotely connect to your notebook to help resolve difficulties.
Please call our technical support at 800 474 6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get a support number for your region.

  • Beat Audio Stopped Working - HP Pavilion DV7 Notebook PC

My audio stopped working and none of the recommended fixes seems to be working on my laptop.
Any other ideas? Is this because of a driver update issue or ? I would like to keep my beats audio, but if not, doesn't seem like I can even get back to a default sound.
Any advice or help is appreciated. I, like everyone else, uses thsi for watching DVDs, music, You Tube etc. Not to mention can't use for Skype calls anymore either. I know PCs don't last forever, but this is only 3 years old.
    Thanks in advance!

  • USB webcam microphone not working with Starcraft 2 voice chat

=USB webcam microphone not working with Starcraft 2 voice chat?Windows 7, X-fi Fatalty Pro
I have a webcam with ?a built in microphone (Ps3 eye). ?It is connected by USB. ?The drivers are the CL-Eye drivers; a third party driver set since Sony does not directly support the eye for PC.
in the windows audio device management, the microphone appears as normal and is set as the default device. ?I can use the windows sound recorder to record me speaking just fine. ?However if I use any other applications it doesn't seem to work at all. ?I can select the device as the default recording device in Starcraft 2 as well as Teamspeak 3 but no sound is detected. ?The USB microphone does not show up as a selectable device in recording options in my Creative Control Panel. ?Disabling the default creative microphone does nothing.
I think the problem is in that windows can directly detect the microphone and so software that uses the windows audio device manager works fine, but anything that talks directly with my sound card software does not properly detect the microphone. ?Basically, I can select the device as a default device but it does not work.
Any thoughts on this or am I SOL and have to find myself a shiny new headset?

I had the same problem. You need to check the device index of your USB mic.
In my case. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.6 system. I had four devices cataloged. With the last one being the USB mic.
    Then set like so in your AS code audioPub.microphoneManager.micIndex = 3;
Remember, that the indexing is 0 based.
The sound framework make the assumption that the index is 0.
    Hope that helps.

  • Hp pavilion dv7 notebook numeric keypad not working

The numeric keypad on my hp pavilion dv7 notebook does not work.  I can't get the num lock to work or any of the number keys to respond.

    Hi,
While this could be a hardware issue, it's always worth trying the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right click the entry 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and select Uninstall.
    Shutdown the notebook.
Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Note:  If the keyboard doesn't work when trying to access or navigate the Bios Menu, then this is probably a hardware fault.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC won't play blu-ray anymore

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC used to play blu-ray discs. it had been a while since i have tried to play one and my computer has, no doubt, updated countless times since.
when i load a blu-ray disc the HP DVD player starts, and there is a black screen which says 'loading' and to press play. pressing play does not start the disc. it used to ask me if i wanted to check for updates, but selecting 'yes' never seemed to find any, and selecting 'no' just brought you back to the same place.
i have tried downloading the sp50935 DVD update to fix the problem, but when installing i get a message that says the 'install has been stopped due to an unsupported operating system' (to that effect), but i use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1, the same that came installed when purchased.
    any ideas?

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook starting with Blank White Screen--Help??

I've had an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook for a couple years now. Today I go to start it up (without the power cord plugged in), and a completely white screen appears. I'm thinking, maybe it's still starting up/working some kinks out. Then I hear the Windows 7 twinkling start up sound that usually happens when you get to your log in screen. So it seems the computer itself is working, but there is zero display on the screen. If anyone has any good advice/experience with this/knows how I can fix it or what I should do, PLEASE let me know! Computer problems are so distressing

I had this problem with my father's pavillion.
There was a broken pin in the screen socket on the motherboard so I guess it was always making poor contact until one day this pin must have broken off completely and the screen would only display completely white.
I inserted a fine solid wire (not multi-strand) into the plug at the right point so that it only just stuck out enough to make contact with what was left of the pin in the socket, whilst being fully inserted into the plug.
I then taped the plug/socket together to make sure it didn't loose contact by coming loose.
Seems to have solve the problem in the short term (but the socket should need replacing for a long-term fix).
