Microphone on Lifecam VX-3000
Hiya,
Does Mac Mini support the USB microphone on VX-3000? Maccam gets the video bits to work,
however, not the sound input...
Thanks!
E.
Ah, I forget to mention, there is a "USB camera" at sys pref/sound input, yet it doesn't seem to work...
Cheers,
E.

WIN 8.1 and MICROSOFT LIFECAM HD-3000 compatibilty - Preview screen "blacked-out"
It seems that there are hundreds of Users with Webcam issues since WIN 8.1 has been downloaded. I have trawled sites and Forums for procedures to ensure that my LIFECAM HD-3000 will work otherwise it a waste of £14.99. No solution has worked. Drivers and
software have been re-loaded from official MS site, and/or Safe Starts undertaken, and/or uninstalling and then re-installing and nothing works.
I think that the problem is that the CAMERA APP built-in with WINS 8 or 8.1 is "always on" in the background and stops other programs/programmes using the webcam output. Is one definitive answer to get webcams working in WINS8.1. Even the MANYCAM
software fails to work with WIN8.1.
Help. Thank you.Hi,
This could be driver issue. Please contact the manufacturer to ask for the latest driver for your Webcam in Windows 8.1, and reinstall it to check the results. If there is not, we need wait for the updates from manufacturer.
Meanwhile, to use webcam, we need to get it properly set.

Hi Forum, I hope someone out there can help with this one. I have just installed a Microsoft Lifecam HD 3000 and when video calling, my guests can hear me but not see me yet I can see and hear them perfectly. The camera is supposedly configured for use with Skype and to enable video chat and video recording. Have I set things up properly or is their something further I need to do?

I have exactly the same problem as described above. Microphone works well, I can see the person I'm talking to but they cannot see me. It works once then not again even though I can see myself when I go into options. When I check options during the conversation there no recognition of the cam in the camera box.
Can anyone recommend another brand of webcam, as it seems to me the driver software is faulty and if Microsoft are interested in fixing it I'll go elsewhere ?
Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here. -
Does anyone know how, on a large scale, to only install the drivers and leave out the lifecam software? We have roughly 300 of these to deploy and have already grabbed the drivers only from the install but when you plug the camera in it still
tries to go install the software. We do not want to turn off all windows update driver installations.Hi,
I just would like to know how you grabbed the driver from the installer.
The installer I can find is below, and I can't find the driver file like inf file after unziping it:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-in/p/lifecam-hd-3000#support
And it's just a web installer, it was installed with downloading at the same time.
I don't think the driver can be seperated from the software installer.
I agree with Pranda, let us know how you grabbed the driver out.
To manage the device and make it work fine, we have to install the software.

why can't skype identify my camera - "lifecam HD-3000 microsoft ?
Hi,
I would recommend you to perform the steps mentioned below and check if it helps:
1. Temporarily disable all the third party security programs and boot in
Clean Boot to exclude 3rd party factor’s effect.
2. Update your video card drivers and BIOS to the latest version.
Hope it helps.

Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 crashes application on exit
Hello! Crash is reproducable on Windows 8 ( on Windows 7 can't reproduce ). I used slightly modified version of AvCAPWPF. Steps to reproduce:
Play any sound using WPF _before_ initializing HD-3000.
Capture some video with HD-3000 either with DirectShow or with Media Foundation.
Exit application and see this crash. It's not crashing always but quite often.
Please, can you give me some hints on this? I can give you the app if you want. If you capture video _before_ playing a sound everything is ok. If you play a sound using DirectShow instead of MediaPlayer everything is ok.

Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 not supported
Since upgrading(?) to Win8, my webcam not longer works with skype. I have tried every possible option, including using the Microsoft support desk to see if there is a compatible driver for this camera. Apparently it is not supported by Microsoft (at this time ... and probably won't be). The same thing happened in "upgrading" to Win 7. I'm not willing to give up yet and buy another camera. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Is there any other solution?
You are very welcome.
Sorry, i have no idea. Please See this thread:

kvm: dissabled by bios
welcome to rescue mode! type "systemctl default" or ^D to enter defauld mode.
i followed message
[root@archlinux Desktop]# systemctl default
Failed to start default.target: Operation refused, unit may not be isolated
then
# systemctl list-unit-files
i found this
default.target masked
graphical.target masked
slim.service enabled
display-manager.service enabled
but
# startx
is working .my xfce4 working well
just slim not work
then , i fould " graphical.target " is null
i edited it, now
cat /usr/lib/systemd/system/graphical.target

Flash Player 9 crashes my browser when I open advance settings
Hi, I'm using the newest version of Flash (9,0,115,0) and
when I try to access the advanced settings and click the webcam
tab, both my browsers crash (IE and Firefox2).
The screen I am talking about is:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help09.html
I can click on any other parts of the tab, but it only
crashes when I click on the webcam icon. This is weird, because the
mic tab recognizes my webcam (Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000).
Anyone know of a solution to this?
I am on a Dell E1705, Centrino Duo 1.67ghz, 1GB Ram and
nVidia GeForce 7900GShighonfire, please open a technical support case for this
issue:
http://www.adobe.com/support
(you can only open a webcase for Flash Player.... )
It woul also be interesting to see what happens if you
uninstall your cam and it's drivers and retest..
Another thing you can do (if you're the admin on the machine)
is create a new user profile.. Log in as that user, install the
browser of your choice and your cam drivers and test with just that
user profile.
If you can do those test please provide that information to
the agent who handles the web case. -
Webcam stops working after a few minutes
Hi everyone,
I'm having some trouble with the live video stream using Adobe Connect and I wonder if anyone can offer any advice.
I´m a trainer using Adobe Connect giving classes. Everything was fine until I got a new laptop.
This is what happens before the problem occurs: I log in as a participant an will be designated as a presenter for the meeting by the host. I start the meeting. My webcam turns on. I see myself, everythings´ fine. I click „record meeting“ and start recording.
Now this is the problem: After few minutes the webcam freezes. If I stop and restart the camera, the camera showes up a black screen.
Hardware, Software, desktop configuration:
Notebook: HP Probook
Operating System: Windows 8.1, 64bit
Webcam: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 (Webcam workes just fine with old laptop)
Browser: Firefox 28.0
I also had some serious problems last Thursday affecting audio and video. But I suppose it had been this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/6228702#6228702
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!!!Hi Webcanfreeze
Can you try using the Connect Addin to se if that works fine with you? It could be a possibility that this camera may have some issue with FLash plugin in Windows 8.1. Couldyou please use the addin and let us know if that works fine for you? You can download the addin by clicking on Share My Screen button in the Connect Meeting Room. That would download and install the Addin on your machine and would then open your meeting in the Addin instead of the browser.
Thank you

Video Conference with a Windows PC
I have an iMac G5 with a separate iSight camera and my daughter has an iBook G4 with separate iSight camera. My son has a Windows PC with the following: Intel Extreme edition qx6700 quad core processor, 2 GB of ram and a BFG 8800 GTX video card. He is running a dual boot system with XP SP2/Vista. His camera is a MS Lifecam VX-3000. All of his drivers are up to date and he is using AIM with Trillian to communicate with his sister and me.
Our problem is that I can video conference with my daughter and a third person and my daughter can video conference with me and a third person, but my daughter and I can not video conference with my son. We can each individually iChat with my son, but video conferencing is not possible with him. Both my daughter and I have multiple iChat camera icons for each other when we launch iChat, but my son shows up with one iChat camera icon when he is online.
Is there something that can be done on his PC hardware or software wise where we can video conference with him? Or is this a problem with all PCs? Any help in figuring this out would be much appreciated! Thanks for your help.

Your son has a single camera icon because he is unable to participate in multi-way chats (macs only).
Get your son to check his windowa firewall and other settings:
http://www.mvldesign.com/videoconferencetutorial.html
If that doesn't solve your problem, consider Skype instead. In my experience, Skype is a better bet for Mac-PC videochats.
Both sides will need to download the appropriate version of Skype:

I want to capture an image from a camera, give it a specific
name and store it in a specific directory. In this case the camera
is the Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000.
The end result is to create a form that collects some
information about an item have a button that has the camera take a
picture that is re-named to the item number.
Any ideas which direction to go?1) Detect the Webcam on the users machine from the web application.(To be more clear when the user clicks on 'Add Photo' tool from the web application)There's not really any good way to do this with JMF. You'd have to somehow create a JMF web-start application that will install the native JMF binaries, and then kick off the capture device scanning code from the application, and then scan through the list of devices found to get the MediaLocator of the web cam.
2) When the user confirms to save, save the Image in users machine at some temporary location with some unique file name. You'd probably be displaying a "preview" window and then you'd just want to capture the image. There are a handful of ways you could capture the image, but it really depends on your situation.
3) Upload the Image to the server from the temporary location. You can find out how to do this on google.
All things told, this application is probably more suited to be a FMJ (Freedom for Media in Java) application than a JMF application. JMF relies on native code to capture from the web cams, whereas FMJ does not.
Alternately, you might want to look into Adobe Flex for this particular application. -
Skype Locks Computer when Using Webcam
It seems every time Skype access my webcam, a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000, my computer completely locks after a few seconds. This is true for both the latest version of the desktop client and the web client. I'm running Windows 10 Pro which is fully patched and drivers current. I have tried everything and nothing has worked. The webcam works with every other video chat platform with no issue. I have 2 graphics cards. Disabling the secondary did not work. Uninstalling and reinstalling Skype did not work. Formatting and reinstalling Windows did not work. Until there is a solution, I will happily use Google Hangouts for my video chat needs.
That's why everybody needs to zip their text files. Zip files are allowed. There are two possibilities for this type of failure. 1. USB issues - It's best to connect the camera directly to the computer. If you have the option to try non-USB 3 ports, try that as well. If going through a hub make sure nothing else is connected to it and that it is powered. You can also try other USB ports that you haven't used in the past to see if anything changes. 2. Video driver/configuration issues - This is probably a more likely culprit in this situation. Some AMD cards have had problems with Skype. Some of the HD series as well as the R7/9 series. Some of this can be due to what's packaged with the Catalyst/Omega software. One such possibility is the H.264 encoder. You can try renaming the amdh264enc32.dll file on your machine to something else so that it isn't loaded into memory. Another option is to try to perform a minimal install of the existing drivers. Your options are limited since there aren't too many Windows 10 compatible drivers released by ATI. Ultimately your remaining option may be to downgrade to a previous release like 6.14. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/ASUS-USB2-0-Webcam-not-recognized-by-Skype-6-18-0-106/m-p/3460911/highlight/true#M289818

Why Is Everything Gray and Fuzzy?
I basically use OS 9 on my MDD dual 1 gHz FW 400 with a 19" VGA CRT monitor. One of the reasons I rarely use OS X because after a reboot into the latest Tiger everything gets fuzzy and gray. The same document that was easy to read in Word in OS 9, be
