Microphone Prob

My mic volume is too low. I use ventrilo and teamspeak to talk to people and they can barely hear me. I've turned up my mic volume in the windows volume control and I turned it the whole way up in the creative controls. Also the outbound is all the way up for ventrilo and teamspeak. I have a soundblaser audigy zs. Can someone please help?

Go to the volume control again and click options and advanced properties. this will give you a button under the mic volume that when clicked will open a window with a checkbox to give the mic a 20 DB boost.

Hello, I have had a frustrating time getting my microphone to work consistently using this card and Windows 7 x64. Here is what is happening:
Usually when I first boot up, my microphone will not work with Ventrilo or Windows Sound Recorder (no bars in the recording meter). If I enable Line in playback I can hear myself crystal clear all of the time so this is a good control. The mic is working, but the input isn't being passed onto programs. If I open/close ventrilo maybe 20-30 times I will be able to get the microphone to work. Usually it first starts out choppy after about 5 ventrilo open/closes and then it is finally sounds good. When I first get started trying to get the microphone to work, I won't see the green bars light up in the equalizer for the mic recording device. But once it gets started, I see the lights working. I DON'T CHANGE ANY SETTINGS BETWEEN WHEN THE MIC WORKS AND DOESN'T WORK. It just starts to work. My friend says getting my mic to work is like starting up an old Model A. You have to crank on it a while.
Drivers I have tried but all behave the same:
Default Windows 7 creative Audigy 2 drivers
    Updated Audigy 2 drivers (July 2009 ) 2_8_00
    Daniel K Drivers (3.6)
In Windows recording devices Mic I have tried the following:
Turning On/Off "allow programs to take exclusi've control of the device"
    Different bit rates
    Disabling the other recording devices
    In Ventrilo I have tried:
Direct Sound on/off (makes no difference), works/doesn't work both ways
Hardware Mixer NONE/Line, makes no difference.
Currently have all input devices disabled except the two below.

    - Tested the Daniel_k driver set. Those really didn't work unfortunately but I appreciate the effort anyone puts into releasing a third party driver set.
Also, I noticed there were more sound devices showing up in safe mode. Are those only loaded in safe mode? Specifically "Microsoft Approved Audio Drivers".
Is there a possibility of conflict?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and Ventrilo - Mic / Microphone Prob

    Hello,
So I am using Ventrilo and everything is working fine.
I have set up Ventrilo to automatically detect when I am speaking.
It actually has a nice way of doing this, it has a monitor button which shows you numbers relating to how load you are talking into the mic.
This is useful as you can then see what background noise levels are, and set the voice detection above that.
And now we come to my problem:
The levels keep changing. Say in the morning, background levels might be 2 and when I speak it goes up to like 5, so I can set it at three and all is good.
Then for no reason nobody can hear me later that day, so I click monitor and background levels are like and when I speak it goes to about 40.
And this keeps changing throughout the day.
When I open up the Creative volume controls (or "Surround Mixer" ), the record settings on the right hand side are greyed out and I can't adjust it.
If I click the "default button" it stops being greyed out, but the "microphone option" isn't there.
If I use the windows volume controls, I can adjust the microphone levels however.
What I notice is that the windows microphone volume corresponds to the "hardware volume" control within Ventrilo Setup.
The other thing I notice, is when I click "Setup" within Ventrilo, then the recording control on the right hand side of the "Creative Surround Mixer" becomes greyed out again.
Any ideas? I can post Screenshots if needed...
    Thanks in advance

  • Weird microphone probs with Z10

    Hi there,
as already said as part of another post:
I´m having (also) trouble with my Z10 built in microphone.
Audiorecording works fine and crispy clear, so I can assume the mic is just working, but when it comes to phone functionalities, this is where the weird behaviour starts!
Initiating or answering phones directly in "handset" mode is no problem, but the mic is muted some how!
Whe I switch to hands-free-speaker, my voice is directly loud and crystal clear again. When putting it back to handset mode, turning the speaker off, the mic immediately becomes muted again.
Connecting a bluetooth headset (bose BT 002) or the factory issued speakerphones "re-connects" the mic directly again, loud, crisp and crystal clear.
unplugging/unpairing these devices results in "strike" from the mic.
I already took the battery out for several minutes, deactivated my alarm settings and unchecked the "automatic pair" checkbox in bluetooth, but it all had no effect so far!
Since I use my Z10 also and mainly for business, this is pretty awkward
    PLZ anybody...HELP ME
    THX
    Paddy

    Thanks. Insight appreciated.

  • Microphone Static prob

I received a Creative WebCam as a gift and it came with a microphone. I have a Dell computer (about 6 months old) with a Creative SB Li've! Series soundcard installed. It was working fine...then I started using a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse. Now most of the time I use audio with MSN Messenger the other person can barely hear me. Creative tech support told me that the wireless should not be effecting the mic but couldn't provide any other answers (other than trying different mics on different computers...etc...which of course I do not own). Is anyone aware of any problems with the SB card and wireless peripherals...or does anyone know how to test this? I am going to try to install the regular keyboard to see if it gets better...but if it does I guess I wasted my $$ on wireless. Please let me know.
    thanks,
    matthew

Although I cannot prove it I believe the AMD 64 CPU and Audigy have an unsolved and unaccepted (by Creative) incompatability.
The only help I can offer is (and only for an XP SP system):
. ensure that your Audigy is the st PCI device you install
    2. if you don't want to reformat use http://forums.creative.com/creativel...d=23573#M23573 to clean the registry though this is not always effecti've with the 64 bit CPU
    3. In network connections go to your internet connection, in properties disable QoS.

  • I have a prob with my microphone and my phone's middle button

    Hi,
I'm  balachandar and having iphone 3-GS. Middle button in my mobile seems to be not fine. It require two or more press to sense the signal. Also the microphone voice seems to be very low. The speaker in other end unable to hear my voice clearly.
These are the two problems with my iphone. Just six months ago i bought this mobile. But it seems to have lots of discepancies. Please help me on this.
    Regards,Balachandar.

You cannot unscratch something.  A scratch is basically somehwere where the paint has been removed.
The only way to remove it is to paint it again.

  • SB XF-I Xtremegamer - microphone doesn't w

I have a SB XF-I Xtremegamer sound card and I can't get the microphone to work. I have tried 2 mics and have tried it on Windows Vista, then I reinstalled Windows XP, still no luck. I have an Asus P5N320E Deluxe mobo that comes with an on board sound card which is disabled, could this be doing something or is there mic port dead?

I had the same problem and managed to?solve it .My problem was I was plugging my mic lead ( the pink end ) into the pink socket of my sound card,(as is the practice with on-board sound), however, I should have plugged it into the blue socket on the creative soundcard and not the pink one. After I'd done this, I enabled the microphone setting (clicked it to take the red cross away) in the sorround mixer (accessible from the task bar volume control with a right click. When done, on the same sorround mixer and on the rec. setting, change it to "What you hear" as this is a better setting than "Microphone", but you can always experiment. When done you should hear your voice through the speakers and be able to record what you hear. Watch for feedback, if this happens, experiment with volume and recording level. To turn off the noise of the mic through the speakers when you're finished recording, just turn of the microphone (red cross) in surround mixer.Hope this helps you and anyone else with this prob.

  • Choice of microphone?

Any advice on a cheap but good microphone to use to improve the recording quality from the built-in mic? I'll be recording lyrics and acoustic guitar, usually simultanously on to the same track.
I want to use it both in my iMac (G5) and my iBook (G4), so I presume it'll need to be USB as I can't see how else to plug it in to the iBook.
    Trevor

I'm afraid I have to make this quick because I have a late recording session, but I'll try to make some points.
You can't plug a "pro" low impedance mic directly into an iMic without an impedance matching transformer (well, you "can" with an adaptor, but once you try you'll realize why you "can't"). And even then, you have no attenuation, so levels are difficult to control.
The folks I know, including myself, that have used an iMic also use(d) a mixing console, which is around another $30 US (example: Behringer UB502 Eurorack Mixer)
Personally I would not recommend the iMic without a console
For some background, the iMic has a High Impedance input (even though it DOES have a Mic-In, the impedance mismatch is a prob):
    http://www.thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#micline
Those are the facts. Now my opinion, from my experience:
I'd choose the iMic and a console with a pro mic over a USB Mic for the added control the mixer offers. I would definitely not try to use a pro mic by itself with an iMic. If you have audio experience, an iMic/Console combination can get really good results. Better equipment can get better results, but of course your engineering skills determine the real outcome.
Hope that doesn't muddy the waters even further. --Hang %-|>

  • X-fi Xtreme Music soundcard PROBLEM: Microphone volume too low(unusab

Hello, I've spent a while?sifting through these forums and?can't find any solution to this problem. Many people have been asking this same question and?aren't getting any solutions. When I say the microphone is?too low, I mean it's at the lowest possible volume it could?run at,?so it's unusable and?might as well not be functioning at all. Keep in mind every volume setting on the computer has been set to max.
Is their anyone?that?owns a X-fi xtreme music sound card?using a?microphone that does work?If so, what microphone are you using?I'm only?suggesting that theirs some odd settings with this card that only allow a certain kind of microphone to work with it. I'm using an old mic that works perfectly with my sb li've and that I've had for 3 years now. I'll echo the same basic details I've already checked over. They can be found in other customers' posts who are having this?same problem.) Microphone works - tested on other systems and other cards2) Microphone volume is on max - both in recording and playback (although playback is muted)3) Gain is enabled - Ticked +20dB box4) Drivers are current - tried shipped drivers, current stable, and beta release? Here are more links to this problem, which has not been solved yet:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=49623
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...id=29980#M4984
I?suspect no one?has?the answer to this problem?yet. But could someone please tell me if they are using this soundcard with a mic that is working. If so please tell me what microphone you are using.

I don't know if this is the latest thread but it seems to be. Obviously this is a big prob for a lot of pee
    ps.
I have Just built a new machine and included a X-Fi Extreme audio for the 8 channel sound capabilities for movie viewing etc, but .. I also run Teamspeak servers for several games ( WoW , UT , CS etc) and find myself unable to communicate using said card. problem is mic boost is available in playback mode but not in record mode. If you activate mic boost in playback it does actually increase volume in output mode also (don't ask me why) ...but not by much . Not enough for peeps on the other end to hear you while gaming. So... if you can boost mic on playback , why not on record ? which is where it is suposed to be in the first place. there are a LOT of frustrated gamers out there that have paid good money for the surround experience but are unable to do what previous cards have done well .... and that is allow communication between players . please don't ignore this as this is not an operating system problem.... i have installed this card on Vista and XP (both X64 and 32)? and still no mic boost from the software available. you know the problem .. at least acknowledge it and give an update. thank you?Fly

  • Impulse Response with Microphone problem

    Hello all,
I am a new beginner of LabVIEW and to this forum.
I am using a modal hammer(ai0) to strike a material being investigated. The response in the material is measured by a geophone (ai1) and a microphone (connected to the laptop by usb).
Aside from the microphone which is directly connected to the laptop by USB, the instrumented hammer and the geophone is connected to the NI 9233 which is connected to the NI USB-9162 which finally connects to the laptop.
This hardware doesn't support analog triggering therefore software triggering is used.
I am using a vi example from http://www.ni.com/example/28438/en/
This examples is great, however, I would like to include a microphone into this vi but I am getting errors.
Error -1931 occured at SVFA Frequency Response (1 x1) (Mag-Phase.vi:1)
I have included the microphone into the vi so that the microphone begins recording when the software triggering has been triggered. (The microphone and the geophone would start and end measurements at the same time.)
In addition, I have tried writing my measurement files but I am getting errors. How do I write the data files of each channel and the results of frequency response measurements?
    Please advise.

    Hey HammerTimer,
I took a quick look at your VI, and noticed the error you are receiving occurs in the "SVFA Frequency Response (Mag-Phase).vi" as you correctly identified. I put some probes on the waveform wires feeding into it and noticed that there is no input to response signal Y. There is a wire feeding in, but no data on that wire. Admittedly I don't have your equipment, but I have simulated it in MAX. I appreciate I'm not sure what data you are meant to be working with either, but I would recommend double checking that you have identified the correct data you want to input to that subVI. I think you may have just miswired and actually want the data from n=0 and n=1 of your data array. I hope this helps out!
    Thanks,

  • Low microphone lev

Im trying to record digitally and I can barely hear what is recorded using a microphone. I have all the levels turned up in the Windows soundrecorder program. It is a functioning mic but I am using an adaptor to plug into the 3.5mm port in my soundblaster card. It is a stereo /4" (F) to a stereo 3.5mm (M) adaptor. Could this be the problem?

Can you find out the impedance of your mic? SoundBlaster mic inputs are rated for ~600 ohms. If your mic is a lot higher than this, the input signal may be attenuated for your SB. Your onboard mic-input may have different impedance specs. There are other reasons mics don't work, but impedance mismatch is a common one and easy to exclude.

I use an Audigy ZS 2 Gamer, had the same problem, minus the resetting of Mic to Wave you are having.
How about trying to change the setting by opening up the MediaSource Player, then:
View > Show Recording Status > and change the recording source to "Microphone" in there instead of the Surround Mixer.
I know it's essentially the same process, but with as buggy as this software is, maybe it will make all the difference. That's how I always changed my setting when using Teamspeak and it worked for me.
Another thought: Have you tried leaving the Surround Mixer open with your readjusted settings, even while in the game?

I have a new yoga tablet 2 pro, with most recent build and most recent version of skype for android.
When using skype or hangout, the other party cannot hear me (unless I speak directly into built-in microphone hole from a few inches away).  The mike works fine with OK google, etc.  Skype and hangout also work well with earphone and external mike combo.
I think there is a problem with apps accessing microphone gain.......  is there a fix?

THANKS for your prompt reply  Bluetooth is off in my laptop and IPhone.. and in fact the reset is the only thing that can make it back to normal. But for a lil while. • Can I use a bluetooth headset as a microphone in iTunes?

Don't know if this is te right forum but its about iTunes!
I am very new to all this "wireless" tech being of the old school where everything had a wire attached but thanks to Alexander Traud I now have a phone, headset and two computers all conversing nicely wirelesly.
So, to the question. I am the aging DJ for our ex-pats club here in Spain and use my white iBook as an iTunes jukebox at home and as the player at the club for my 50's to 70's disco. Its great not having to throw around disks of vinyl anymore and a lot lighter and smaller to carry the record collection too! I was wondering if I could use the BT Motorola H500 headset instead of the wired microphone. I have tried but despite being able to play the iTunes output through the headset (not what I want to do) and the Sound preferences indicate that when I speak I am registering on the input bar I can't get my voice out the headphone output ie. where the main disco amplifier is plugged in.
Can I do this and if so how please. It seem a shame if you can't.
    TIA
    Mike

    Hi Robert
Thanks for answering. I didn't know where to post other than the bluetooth forum which is relatively quiet and had no answers forthcoming.
Yes the voice isn't reaching the amp although it is registering on the input bar in the Sound System Prefs, just won't "play through" as it were. I can't see how it could be done I was just hoping someone might see something I am missing.
It seems a shame that you can't do it as iTunes on an old iBook makes a good juke box for DJ'ing and with everything becoming wireless these days it seems sensible that you could cut that one last wire.
