  • Problem with SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Card Installat

I just completed installation of my X-Fi Xtreme Audio card for PCI express slot. I followed instructions and cancelled the prompt for audio drivers (by the hardware wizard) and installed via the Creative Labs CD. The installation went well and the card appears to be
functioning normally. My problem is that whenever I boot up the computer, the hardware wizard keeps discovering my card as new hardware and prompting me for a driver. I have been cancelling each time, but the last time I put in the CD, and had it search for the driver in the Audio/Drivers/driver/WinXP/bin, but it didn't seem to be able to locate the driver to satisfy itself.
What should I do (besides turning off the hardware wizard) to end this cycle of "new hardware found" episodes every time I boot.
I hope that someone can help with this.
ps: I would have liked to speak briefly with a Creative Tech Support person, but they seem to have conveniently left any telephone contact numbers off of their website, so I must depend on your help. Thanks.

    Hello every body.

With the install process you dont have problem, and with music... but when you go to play the EAX effects doesnt work properly (metalic noise), at least it fault down.
With other motherboards there is no problem. Of course I have tried everything, (drivers, thanche the pci slot, another games... GRAW, Battlefield 242, Call of duty etc... It doesnt work.
Then I tried with my old Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, and the same problem with old drivers. I download this november drivers and then it works fine.
The sound is similer (less voices but similar, good sound), but I havent got the night mode sound level that let me play during the night without making noise (gun, explosions etc sound very loud).
Some one knows where can I get a modified driver that runs with chipset G965?

I had to switch from game mode to entertainment mode using the Creative Console Launder software applet. Once I made the change all fi've speakers are working, I would prefer that they all work in game mode but for now until I can find a better solution this will have too work for now. I hope this helps for you.

  • Recording problem with SoundBlaster X

    Hello everyone,
I am running a X-FI sound card which is on my motherboard (MSI P6N Platinium).
I always had MSI boards with integrated soundblaster cards, and I used to plug my guitar directly in the microphone input and record.
Since I got this new board with the X-FI card, I have latency when I play my guitar. The sound has around half a second delay before it gets to the speakers.
I never had such a problem with my other motherboards/soundblasters.
I tried with the front panel mic, and also with the back panel one. The problem with the back panel is that when I plug my guitar in, it doesn't allow me to output to the normal 5. speakers, I have just the option to should Digital output...
Does anyone have an idea on something I should look for in the setup?
    I am running a:
    Intel Dual Core 6600
MSI P6N Platinium with integrated SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Audio
    2GB Geil sync RAM
    Nvidia 8800GTX 768Mb Video Ram
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Hmm.. IIRC, X-Fi Xtreme Audio?doesn't have nati've ASIO?drivers so, if you like to?use lower latency (less delayed), you'll need to either?- install asio4all dri've and use asio compatible software for to input the signal?or?- use WDM/KS capable software for to input the signal?ASIO4ALL driver http://www.asio4all.com?ASIO capable Host? software:VSTHost - http://www.hermannseib.com/english/default.htm?(you need to add least one effect plugin to get signal out ... effevts can be found from KVR http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php)?Reaper?- http://www.cockos.com/reaper/?(support for WDM/KS and ASIO, use WDM/KS with settings 4 buffers x?256 - 52 samples)?jutapa

  • Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

so i picked up one of these off new egg and i love the sounds - its great. So why can i not get the mic to work? I have to plug it into the front of my computer to get it to work and even then sometimes it just ends up looping the sound then causes me to restart the computer to get rid of the squeel. I got re-installed it - reinstalled all programs, disabled/made soundblaster default, Ive done everything the online user guide says to to. My digital I/O Is shaded out in the option to choose if i were to use that hole, Why is it shaded out if the Card is equipped with it's I can get sound out of it but when i plug the MIC in - nothing. Also Why when i play games do i have to play with the MIC settings to get the mic to work? Also i've downloaded the NEW drivers with the auto update. Basically this is really annoying and i dont know if its worth even keeping the Soundblaster if all its going to be is problems, Sure this card sounds awesome - But my onboard sound never gave me ANY problems. Where is Creatives Response to this problem? Ive seen MANY posts on this forum about this MICROPHONE problem. When are new drivers comming out to fix this, are they comming out or am i going to have to return this thing? THank you.

Do not plug into the front panel, get a splitter. It isn't worth the headache I assure you.
I have no clue why but after unplugging EVERYTHING that was plugged into my pins which was just my Audio Out Front Port (Not the mic front port), it worked perfectly fine. I didn't even have to reconfigure. You may or may not have to go into your "Sound Properties", and find Recording Options and select the Microphone, and make sure you either have Mic Boost on, or the Volume of the Mic up.
Click on the little "sound control speaker" at the bottom of your start bar, you may have to double click it select "Options", then "Properties", select recording just Highlight one of the settings such as "microphone" make sure its checked. Then click "Ok" you should have gotten a window pop up that shows your microphone make sure you have a check in the "select" box under it.Message Edited by gulizard on 04-0-20072:52 AM

  • No 6.1 channel speakers option with soundblaster x-fi xtreme audio

Here is my problem: I have a 6.1 channel speakers and a yamaha receiver, but my computer doesn't show 6.1 configuration, and neither does the creative software. Both control panel and creative software only have 5.1 and 7.1. When I use my speakers with my dvd player everything works just fine. My soundcard is the soundblast x-fi xtreme audio pci, and I have windows XP. Does anybody know what's going on?

6.1 isn't really a common speaker configuration so I doubt that many sound cards discretely support it. I'm assuming that the only way to get 6.1 audio is from a movie with a Dolby or DTS -encoded track via SPDIF or letting the receiver upmix 5.1 input into the rear mono channel.
How are you connecting the sound card to the receiver? Are you using SPDIF or direct analog connections? If watching DVD movies, I'd recommend SPDIF, provided your DVD software supports it, you should be able to send a 6.1 encoded stream over SPDIF to the receiver, but for everything else I'd recommend the direct 5.1 analog connections, set your sound card to 5.1 and then let the receiver upmix to the rear channel if you so desire to use that feature.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum microphone problem with Sk

I am having difficulty getting my headset to work with SKYPE when I plug it into the platinum front panel (mic2). I can hear myself through my headset or speakers, I've even managed to record a message that can be played back using wavestudio (after?tinkering), but I cannot get the thing to work with skype. I have upgraded from a Soundblaster Li've! card, something that had no problems with SKYPE. Since upgrading, my friends think I've become a mute. I've checked every setting I can think of without success. Does anyone have any ideas on anything I might have overlooked??

I've done as you asked but I still have problems. Skype works now but I'm still having difficulty, as I have discovered that the only way I can get the mic to work is to swap the REC column within surround mixer to MIC2. Then it works. I thought MIC2 was a shared socket that enables you to connect a second microphone, was I wrong?I also sound like a dalek that is trying to gargle with a glass of water, so there's still things to be done.
Also, any changes I make to surround mixer seem to revert back to the defaults after a period of time.So I have to keep making the same changes when I want to use skype. Can I set up my own defaults?

  • Problem with Wine, NVidia and fullscreen games

    Hi,
I'm writing about a problem i recently noticed with wine, nvidia gpu and fullscreen 2d games.Basically the problem is as follows - i am running arch with the latest kernel and nvidia drivers on Thinkpad T61 with NVidia Quadro NVS 140M. I have a problem with old 2d games like Red Alert 2, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Diablo 2, Heroes 3. All of these games do not support the native 1440x900 resolution of my screen and all of them work fine in window mode but crash if fullscreen is selected. I managed to get some of them working by making them work at higher resolutions. For example although Red Alert 2 does not support 1440x900, it can be easily made to work at that resolution and after i applied the necessary settings it worked. The same was with Heroes 3 - by default it does not support 1440x900 and it used to work only i window mode but there is a HD mod which allows it to run in higher resolutions and after i applied it it worked perfectly in fullscreen. I haven't thested Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale but i think it will work there too.
The problem is that i cannot use this approach to all games - for example i must run Diablo 2 and Starcraft in their original resolutions. I read somewhere that the problem is that wine can only change between the resolutions described in the xorg.conf file and if doesn't find the necessary resolution the game will crash or will only take the portion of the screen that is its resolution - for example when i play Starcraft rather than stretching it to the whole screen it simply takes 640x480 pixels of my screen and the game is displayed in the top left corner of the screen leaving everything else black.
I didn't have this problem before - it is something new though i'm not sure since when do i have the problem because i rarely play games. As for the idea that the problem may be related to the resolutions defined in the Xorg.conf file, my xorg.conf is automatically generated by the nvidia installer and there are no resolutions defined there.

I remember that issue, with the 302 series.
I have Nvidia 304.48 installed and the problem still exists (it also happens with Catalyst). This didn't occur with 295.59 using the same version of Wine.

I have a problem with the game Farmville on facebook.
When I go to the game ,the game doesn't fit in the frame (of Adobe flasplayer) ,so I can't game properly ,because features fall outside the frame.
I don't have this problem when I game on a notebook with Linux, there ,the game fits the frame exactly,so the problem is not with Adobe flashplayer, but with Windos 7 in combination with Firefox?

  • Microphone problem with POE 13

m@y microphone works with windows 8.1 but Premier Elements 13 will not recognize my "Realtech High Def Audio device.Any suggestion?

    coo-gar
Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Have you updated your Premiere Elements 13 to 13.1 using an opened projects Help Menu/Updates? If not, please do so.
What type of microphone do you have? Classically, USB microphones do not work with the Premiere Elements (many versions) Narration Tool. However, there are scattered reports where the user claims to have used a certain brand of USB microphone successfully with Premiere Elements Narration Tool. Often the ReadMe files would mention this situation. Although I do not see that mention in the Premiere Elements 13 ReadMe, that does not mean that the problem does not still exist.
One workaround, if no alternative, is to create the narrations in a free program such as Audacity, and then import the narration (wav) saved to the computer hard drive into your Premiere Elements product with its Add Media/Files and Folders.
Please review and consider and give more details.
    Thank you.

You are requested to please help me in this regards.
Hello Muhammad Umar. This forum is for Dell owners to have a place where we can discuss technical issues with each other. If you are attempting to address a Dell representative, I urge you to contact Dell directly.
My own advice to you is to first re-install your Realtek audio driver from the Inspiron 3521 downloads page (make sure to select your operating system in the drop down menu).
If the problem remains, next install the native Windows audio driver. If that also does not fix the problem then you probably have hardware failure of the mic. In that case you should contact tech support (using the above link) and schedule a repair as per your warranty.

  • Problem with a top down shooter game I have coded

I have created a space Invaders type of a game in JavaFX, now the game works fine from start to finish with the exception of the sound effects (I am still working on them). My problem comes when I play the game again from the splash screen. That is I do not close the application and start it over. At that point the game starts to freeze up, and move very slowly as if all the RAM had been used up on my machine. In the worse case the game just freezes all together.
I know that this would be much easier with code samples, of my work, but I have not a clue where the problem is coming form and to post the full code here would make things a mess.
I would like to know if any of you out there have had a similar problem and what caused it, and how maybe to go about fixing this problem.
My fist thought was garbage collection but that seems to be automatic with the netbeans ide.
Any suggestion would be very welcome.
    Thanks in advance.

try -Xmx768m to give your application more ram.
Check your ram consumptation on your ingame restart. If ram consumption always goes up you have
a "java memory leak". Means some objects are never set to null. Like some endless growing lists for example.

  • Problem with soundblaster ZXR please help

Hi, yesterday I bought a ZXR . I downloaded the lastest driver 1.00.22 and tried to install it in my pc which runs windows 8.1. I use spdif port ( and I select it from the sound panel of pc) and I use 5.1 channel setup. My problem is that , when I choose DTS or Dolby from the SB control panel there is sound comming from from the test video in the SB control panel but when I want to play a music via media player I get this message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device..." or something like the sound device is busy in another application. To solve this problem I have to choose speaker option in the system sound menu. This way the sound comes from the speakers when I play media player but the MASTER VOLUME control does not work at all. I have already disabled and unistalled the system onboard sound device. What should I do?

  • Microphone problems with IBM ViaVoice  OS X 10.4.6

    Hello,
I use a dictation program called IBM ViaVoice for medical dictation. It uses a USB mic called Andrea.
All was working fine until I upgraded to OS X 10.4.6 from 10.4.5 over the weekend, and come Monday AM, when I go to use the program it states "microphone is being used exclusively by another application", and no longer works in the app.
There's nothing wrong with the mic itself, and it checks out in the sound control panel
This is an older app. that IBM no longer directly supports. It still continues to be marketed and supported by a third party company. They "officially"don't support the product past OS X 10.2
I've tried changing configs. in the Sound and Speech control panels to no avail.
I "archived and restored" back to OS X 10.4.5 and it works fine again.
I have the same problem with a new Intel MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.6) and thought it had to do with the the new architecture, but when this happened to the older powerbook, after the upgrade, obviously it's the software.
Anyone have an idea for a work around? I'd like to continue to upgrade my system and this program is a must for work.
Thanks in advance for any help
    Nick Stratton

    Nick,
You might want to have a look at my post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=431700&start=15&tstart=0
As we all know, ViaVoice is a rather quirky piece of software. For unknown reasons, reinstalls often seems to do miracles. But DO NOT FORGET to backup your "temp" and "user" files BEFORE YOU REINSTALL! And be sure to install the patch to version 10.2 (available on Nuance's site).
If you do a lot of dictating, you might also want to consider using a microphone set-up like the one I recommend in the thread mentioned above. I think it improves accuracy and it certainly frees me from the "can't find the microphone" and similar problems I had with my USB microphone. BUT … don't throw away that Andreas line-in to USB converter!! As I said, ViaVoice is quirky software. There are some situations (like creating a new voice model, if my recollection is correct) where VV insists on connection to a USB microphone. If you don't have one handy, you're out of luck. That's why that USB converter can be a godsend, even years after you've written it off to the cobwebbed corners of the basement.
