Microphone recommendations for recording into Captivate 4?

Hello. Can you tell me what microphone you use to record directly into Captivate 4 (on Windows XP) that works properly and plays back as it should? I am having audio issues with C4 using a Rode Podcaster. I know it's not the microphone as it works with other applications. I know it is something with C4 and I have tried several workarounds to no avail (such as the one found http://bdld.blogspot.com/2009/03/fixing-sound-in-adobe-captivate.html[L=Link). If you have a microphone you've used with C4 that works, please reply to this post as I would like to see if I will have success with a different mic. Please do not respond here if you have an audio workaround, a .dll fix, or anything else to troubleshoot audio.
Thanks,
Casey

Hi Casey
I use a Microsft LifeChat headset microphone and it seems to work well.
However, I will also toss out a note about something I encountered a few weeks ago in a Captivate class. We were using Intel based Macintosh PCs. Captivate seemed to refuse to record until we first clicked Audio > Settings and specifically yselected the microphone.
Probably won't be that easy in your case but thought I'd mention it. Who knows?
Cheers... Rick

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes.  How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

  • Monitor Recommendations for Use with Captivate

Anyone have any monitor recommendations for use with Captivate? Size and resolution?

The formal adobe  recommendation is as posted 1024x768 is fine.
But, monitors are not that expensive, so for productivity and better work environment I recommend at least one wide screen 22" with resolution  1600X1200 or more  and that supports 1080 for video.
You need the  wide screen ( or  two monitors) so you can work with all the tools in one view.

  • Problem importing Adobe Connect recording into Captivate 6.0

    Hello,
Not having found something about this via search, I'm asking the question.  I am in tech support for University of Missouri-Extension and we use Connect and create many recordings for later share.  I am able to import these FLV recordings into Captivate 5.0, but not 6.0 which we've just purchased.  I get the message; "Video encountered an internal error."  Is this a known problem with a work-around, or something new?  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks.
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Do you have audio in these recordings? If yes, can you try and use Adobe Media Encoder to encode these to a different format and then try re-importing.
You should be able to import the file this way, however, you audio might not come across.
Sorry about, we have shared the problem ahead.
    Thanks,

  • Default mode for recording in Captivate 4

I've created a template for recording simulations in Captivate 4, but it seems to be recording in Demo mode, and not creating click boxes, failure captions, etc. How do I set it to default to Training Simulation?
    Thanks for any suggestions...

    Hi there
Unfortunately there is no way I'm aware of to force a default for this. The Captivate author must choose the type of recording at the time the recording occurs.

  • External Microphone Recommendations For Canon Vixia HF M50

    Hello:
I have reviewed the microphone options for the mini-advanced shoe, and they don't work for my application.  I need an external condenser microphone that can be on a wire 50 feet away from the camera.  I tried a dynamic microphone but voices were much too soft.
Does anyone have a recommendation on what will work on a 50 foot wire, but provide good sound from an external microphone?
    Regards,

  • Which soundcard to choose for recording (guitar, MC etc)?

Which soundcard upto 150 USD would you recommend for RECORDING sound? I do not need all these 7.1, 3D sound and other things for computer games and DVD movies - I DO NOT play computer games and do no watch DVD movies, I do not even listen to music with a computer - I have a CD player for that purpose. So the output can be plain, I do not care; the important thing for me is INPUT. I want it to be clean and of high quality. So what soundcards would you recommend me, being no more than 150 USD?

If you have a pre-amp for line sources/microphones,
    ESI Juli@ (around ~130US$)
    - http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan0...s/esijulia.htm
    E-MU 0404 (under 100US$)
If you need a device w/ mic-preamp then you propably need to pay a bit more.
M-Audio USB, E-MU 0202/0404 USB, Presonus Inspire, etc.

  • Captivate 7 - Data from quizzes not recording into Halogen (LMS)

It worked for the first captivate module I put together, but now none of the modules will record the data into Halogen's software. I might have messed up the preferences somewhere along the lines. Please help.

You have set up the Reporting in that case, and checked the Manifest file. Could you try uploading to www.scorm.cloud to test your settings? You can create a free account. That could be a first step. Although SCORM is a standard, the way it is implemented in a LMS can be very different. I couldn't find this LMS in the compatibility Guide of Infosemantics, and it is not on the list of LMS's tested with CP7: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/supported-lms

  • Which Canon Camcorder has the best built in microphone for recording musical instruments

Which Canon Camcorder in the affordable price range has the best built in onboard microphone for recording musical instruments
    Thanks.

    TheBee,
    Thanks for writing!
The built-in microphones on the camcorder are fairly similar.  When you're recording music, we recommend the use of an external microphone.
The mic you use really depends on what you're recording and where.
So we may better assist you, please provide a bit of information regarding the type of recordings you'll be making, the music and the setting (i.e. what kind of venue, your distance to the music, etc).

  • Recommendations for speaker systems for DVD player/recorder

I'm getting a DVD recorder soon and I hope to get some recommendations on suitable Creative speaker systems.
The room is fairly big but the TV area is rather confined..so i prefer a set whose speakers are not too big or bulky or numerous (i think i'll stop at 5.1 since i have limited space to put the speakers). Budget is flexible, but of course the cheaper the better (hopefully under $350).
The TV sounds good when watching TV programs but it reproduces an unbalanced ratio of muddy dialogue and loud sound effects when playing back DVDs. I end up having to crank up the volume so high to hear what the characters are saying, and of course, the background audio gets boosted way loud as well. So my main consideration is reproducing clear speech and dialogue and crisp (not overly loud) background audio - any recommendations for this?
Which models have an optical/coaxial input? Can i just hook up the speakers to the optical/coaxial or RCA outputs of the DVD recorder/player since most models have in-built DTS decoders? Which are the least problematic models?
    Thank you.

I think I have the same question more or less. I bought a cheap Best Buy memorex speaker docking station and I need a male to female IPOD cable so that I can Play the radio and charge the IPOD at the same time as well of course have the head phone jack plugged into the Line In that acts as the antenna.
So if I had the Male to Female cable My dock would charge and the cable to the line in acts as a Antenna. I think this makes sense..

  • Advice for recording spoken word directly into FCP?

I want to teach some kids to record spoken word directly into FCP with most likely a USB mic. I know that this is not the best way to do this, and a mixer would help greatly. With that said, can anyone provide any suggestions for getting the best quality out of a basic mic and a Mac with FCP?
    Thanks.

I'm with David on this. My sweet spot for peaks is in the -6 to -3 range as well. I'm talking about ideal for "recording" your VO, not necessarily for delivering a final mix to the client as already mentioned.
When you record anything through a microphone, there will be a noise floor to contend with. Even the quietest recording studios with the best isolation and the quietest mic preamps have noise and hum at some level. So it's critical for us without ideal recording environments to keep our recording levels as hot as possible without clipping in order to achieve the best signal-to-noise ratio. If you record something too low, and bring it up in post, you will be bringing up the noise floor along with the signal.

  • What wireless microphone works best with ipad for recording videos

I am wanting to purchase a wireless microphone for recording videos with my ipad version 8.2. Do anyone have a suggestion?

    Hi gentleone,
You likely have polarized sunglasses. If you turn your iPad from portrait to landscape (or vice versa) you'll be able to see your screen. I've experienced that with my sunglasses... The workaround to rotate it 90 degrees works for me
    Hope this answers your question!

  • How to Pass Multiple data records into SDATA for a segment

    Hi Friends,
I need to Pass data records to Function Module
    MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE for Creating Outbound IDOCs
I am Collecting all the Data Records and Passing into the Structure EDIDC.
    Here my problem is
For one Route there are Multiple Customer records.
so my First Parent Segment is ZROUTE
i am passing the Datarecord for this Segment.
and for the Customer Segment , I have 5 Customers,
so i am passing the 5 Data records to SDATA .
    Loop at gt_route into gw_route.
Pass the Route data into the Data record SDATA
      gw_idocdata-sdata    = gw_route_header.
      gw_idocdata-segnam = lc_route_header.
      gw_idocdata-hlevel = lc_4.
      APPEND gw_idocdata TO gt_idocdata.
      CLEAR : gw_route_header, gw_idocdata.
    Loop at gt_customer into gw_customer
                                   where anlage  = gw_route-anlage.
Pass the Customer data into the Data record SDATA
      gw_idocdata-sdata  = gw_customer.
      gw_idocdata-segnam = lc_customer.
      gw_idocdata-hlevel = lc_5.
      APPEND gw_idocdata TO gt_idocdata.
      CLEAR : gw_customer, gw_idocdata.
    ENDLOOP
    ENDLOOP.
So this customer segment is comming 5 times in my IDOC
Can any one suggest me whether i am going in correct way or not.
I am Getting the IDOC status 26.
Error during syntax check of IDoc (outbound)
I think it is because the IDOC is not yet SET RELEASE.
But i am having the Dought in Passing the data to SDATA fied
    of the EDIDC Structure.
    Can any one Suggest me.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ganesh

    Hi,
First of all EDIDC is the control record, EDID4 is the data record. When collecting customer record into idoc_data you need to insert customer's parent segment number.
    Eg.
    route1, segnum 1.
       child 1, segnum 2 and parent segnum = 1
       child 2, segnum 3 and parent segnum = 1
       child 3, segnum 4 and parent segnum = 1
    route 2, segnum 5
       child 1, segnum 6 and parent segnum = 5
       child 2, segnum 7 and parent segnum = 5
       child 3, segnum 8 and parent segnum = 5
    Cheers.
    ...Reward if useful.

  • Importing recorded (virtual) sessions into Captivate?

Has anyone out there tried to import recorded virtual training sessions (i.e., webex, connect, etc.) into a Captivate project? I have a contact who would like to be able to build nav & interactivity around short webex sessions, but the import attempts that I've seen do not yield good visual quality. Anyone out there doing this sort of thing successfully?

    Hi there
I may be wrong here, but I think Lilybiri is in the UK and may be on the way to sleepytown at the moment. So I'll hazard a guess as to the suggestion.
Captivate is seldom (if ever) THE tool of choice if you are recording Full Motion Video. I'm guessing that Lilybiri was suggesting that as s/he was thinking that you were planning on recording an extended WebEx session. But I have my own personal doubts as to the duration of something over WebEx. I'm not sure Camtasia is a good tool if you are wanting to record an hour's worth of video. It seems most of what I've seen recorded with Camtasia is around five minutes in duration. Sometimes going as long as ten, but primarily roughly five.
I believe that both WebEx and Connect each offer their own recording mechanisms. I also believe that each is capable of demonstrating a Captivate movie so I'm wondering what you would hope to achieve by inserting into Captivate.
