Microphone seems to not work

I am not sure how or why this happened, but it seems everyone I call has a big problem hearing me on the phone, they all complain about it breaking up, this does not happen when i have the headphones on and i am using the microphone on the headphones, so I am thinking it is probably the microphone on the phone. I do not have insurance on the phone, is there anyway to clean the phone or is it possible Apple will fix this problem if it is with the phone?

If you look at the microphone, are the holes clogged at all? If small pieces of debris get caught in the microphone, it can cause a muffled sound when you speak to people. You can take a look at this article for more information:

Satellite C650-197 Built In Microphone and Jacks not working

As the title, I tried to use the my microphone that comes inbuilt on this model (integrated VGA Web Camera with built-in microphone) and found its not working. Tried to plug in an external microphone via the mic jack and still not recording.
I cant seem to find the drivers for the inbuilt or the jack anywhere.
Any ideas?

Such drivers dont exist. The sound card driver controls everything.
I think you should firstly start the webcam software and should test the mic because the internal mic is a part of the webcam.
The webcam software provides an tab; settings and properties. In one of these tabs you would find settings for audio.
There you could increase the mic volume and could record small audio session.
Additionally I recommend checking the settings in control panel -> sound.
Be sure that mic volume is set to max. Don't forget to check hidden and disabled devices there...

Microphone in messages not working?

Okay I have an iphone 5c, running iOS8. When I go to the message app, the microphone is either there and grayed out, or not there at all.
I went and erased my iphone completely, and when the homescreen and everything came up afterwards, it showed up in the message app, and looked like it would work! (The circle came up after I pushed it). But I wanted to restore the apps and items from a previous backup onto my device. After doing so,..the microphone is again either gray or gone completely. Why is it doing this? Thank you for any help you can provide!

By now, the Problem gets bigger and bigger. More and more Users complain about it. The first call from a customer, they accept in the morning does not work in cause of they accidentally are in Softphone-Mode without having a Headset attached. Voices raise from Managers, that we should rollback the Jabber installations.
Are we really the only ones with this Problem?

Today my iphone 5's microphone icon is not working for Notes. Worked yesterday...

I have been using my iPhone 5's app Notes to dictate my inventory and send it to my computer rather than typing in everything... until today. The microphone icon in Notes is gray. I checked Messages and Mail to find that the microphone is operable within those apps. Where do I go from here?

Dictation is one of my favorites features on the iPhone as well!
If it is working in some apps and not others, I would suggest you:
1) Close the Notes app
2) Reset the iPhone
3) Restart the iPhone
iOS: Force an app to close
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the red dot with the white minus sign to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Microphone windows tablet not working

On my windows based Tablet Elitepad 1000 microphone is not working. In Control panel, sound, recording.. green bars are rising, but still no results when recording sound. Only noise can be heard. There is only one selection when selecting recording device (intel wmd)

Hello. A couple of days ago, my microphone and camera suddenly stopped working. When I started up my camera in Skype, it said "Please open YouCam" or something like that, and when I did, it told me to update it. So I did. Then it told me that I had to uninstall the current version of YouCam. When I did and tried to install the update, it said something like "no video device detected".
After updating drivers and un-/installing things, I recovered my whole computer to fabric options. Still not working. So I suspect that it might have something to do with the hardware. Although I don't know what should have caused it, as it just happened randomly in the middle of the day.

Try the User Tip suggestions first. Your system does need a plist, but a properly working OS X automatically generates any needed plist files when you launch the associated app (if its plist does not already exist.)

Microphone and Webcam not working/Webcam not recognized by YouCam

I have a dv7-6c95dx and my YouCam program tells me that it does not recognize my integrated webcam. I have read all of the webcam forums on this site and clicked on all of the links people have posted in the forums. I have uninstalled the CyberLink YouCam program and it still comes up with the same messages. The webcam also does not show up in my device manager. The microphone is malfunction as well, it will not work any any programs including skype.
I have heard that the webcam can come unplugged internally, will that also cause the microphone to stop working? I have run out of options and I do not want to pay anyone to fix it. I would appreciate any advice on this subject.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx Notebook and sound and microphone issues and Webcam not working correctly. I would be happy to assist if needed. Try these steps first.
1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok
You could also try Microsoft troubleshooter located on your Notebook.
Here is a document on WebCam troubleshooting. The Webcam will be listed in your device manager under Imaging devices. You should be able to click the action button and scan for new hardware.

USB seems to not work properly anymore with Mountain Lion

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion. Tried to transfer pictures from my DSLR camera but it cannot be detected anymore. My external hard disk does not work anymore as well. Can anybody please help? Thanks.

Open System Information (Applications > Utiities) and select the USB entry in the left column. The top right pane will show all the USB busses on your Mac. If the Mac can see the camera and external hard drive then they should be shown under one of the busses. So do you see them? If no, are they connecting directly to the Mac and not via some sort of USB hub?

IPad 1 dock connector seems to not work

Hello everybody.
Yesterday, when I tried to recharge my iPad battery, I noticed that the device did not become aware of the fact it was connect to AC.
I used the original dock-to-usb cable connected to the original usb-to-plug adapter.
Ok, don't panic. I tried to connect my iPad to my PC. Same thing: the PC did not recognise the device and the device did not recognise the PC.
I tried turning the device into DFU mode: nothing.
Ok ok. In the meanwhile, the battery went to zero percent and the iPad turned off. I tried connecting the device to AC and, magically, the battery was charging! The device was in charging mode: black screen and red battery with the power sign below.
As soon as the device switched from charging mode to operative mode, the iPad stopped recognising the power.
I'm depressed. I think it's a software issue. I tried resetting my iPad using the proper function in the settings menu but it did not work.
I cannot restore it thru iTunes because the PC do not recognise the device.
What should I do?
PS: The device mounts the original latest firmware and it's out of warranty. My PC runs Windows 7 x64.

I suspect it's a software issue because the problem only happens when the device is in the "operative" mode.
The charging thing works fine when the device is in "charging-only" mode.
However I'll take the device to an Apple retail shop.
How does the assistance work? Do they take 250 bucks for any kind of issue?

Well, that's a starting point, not good news, but a starting point anyway.
Is there something blocking the mic opening that you can see? Maybe take a soft cloth and wipe the opening and see if that helps. Blow on it maybe?

Microphone and webcam not working on Yoga S1 after windows 10 update

I have to admit I never tried the webcam since I got my Yoga which had win 8.1 originally installed on it, but with the update to windows 10, I'm trying more things out. I did install the camera driver from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-yoga?c=1 but no luck.I dont even see any kind of camera in device manager. The camera app just says "something is wrong" amd closes. I tried Skype and it also could not detect a working webcam. After installing windows 10, I did try Cortina and it had me go into microphone setup and it was working. However after subsequent updates, it no longer works. The micropphone levels are ll the way 100%, but when I try to setup the mic, I never see the level meters move when trying the speech test dictation,. Ive installed the Conexant drivers in the the above link, and also uninstalled them and tried to go back to what are the default microsoft drivers, neither seem to wor

Hey I see that you're having an issue with the webcam and microphone.
This could be a hardware issue knowing both of these features are in the same module
But first,
Can you go to device manager then go under the section that says imaging devices and tell me if the webcam shows up under there. Also, check and see if there's any type of exclamation mark next to it.
Next, Go to the sound controllers section also and let me know if you can see the microphone underneath that.
Now, these two don't have drivers to install from the website. What you can do is uninstall these drivers from the device manager then restart your Notebook. It should install the drivers after you restart.
Also, if this doesn't work you can do a driver recover from the software. Here is a document to show you how to do that.

Go down to the section that says "Reinstall the original webcam program that came with your computer".
If any other issues come up before this like you can't find the drivers in the device manager. Go to the section on that document that says " Webcam is not listed in the device manager ".

I have a web site that tries to reset the database location when running new reports, but it always seems to get and error (Failed to open the connection) even though the connection information is correct. Below is the relevant code:

The strange thing is that I am able to go into the Schedule Manager and change the Logon properties of the report and when the report is run everything seems to work fine. So it would seem like this method is never resetting those properties. Maybe it is because it is trying to logon with the call to OpenDocument. Unfortunately I am not able to reset all of the reports using the schedule manager so I need some method of doing this in code.
Does anyone know what method the Schedule Manager is calling to reset the Logon properties.
Any help or work around would be appreciated.

Google voice and video chat plugin seems to not work with Firefox 4

Once login, I click on parameters item then Chat.
In the audio and video chat section my webcam seems not to be detected.
This works well with Firefox 3.6.

Signing a soap message seems to not work in jwsdp14

I'm trying to sign a soap message according to the latest oasis specifications (http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-soap-message-security-1.0.pdf) using the libraries provided with jwsdp14 (mainly xmlsec.jar).
As far as I know, there is not yet documention/example about this specific issue.
The following is the code I have to sign a soap message: it seems to work fine because the signed soap message respects the above specifications... but what I notice is that the digest and the signature values it contains are always the same, I mean: if i change the source soap message, the signed soap message in output is always the same!
