Microphone stops working with certain games.

I own an HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1111nr and when i play games like league of legends or Team fortress 2 my headset stops picking up my voice. The only way I can get it to work again is by alt+tab out of the game, Set default communication to a different recording device and set it back to the headset. Even through doing that it will sometimes just stop recoring all over again. Can anyone help me?

Hi Jalend, welcome to the HP Forums. I understand your communications device is losing voice input, and you have to reset the communications device to reset it.
I am not sure what it will take to fix this issue, but the first thing that comes to mind is to  change "When Windows detects communications activity" to Do nothing in the 'Communications Tab'. Take a look at the first response for details here: Windows 8 turns program sound volume down randomly
Beyond that, try to restore the original IDT Audio Drivers, using this method: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8)
Let me know what happens.

  • Macbook stopped working with certain display

My macbook randomly stopped recognizing with my external display (Niko 19"). The computer does not see the monitor or the monitor does not see the computer even when i tell it to detect displays. The weird part is that it still works with all other displays. My monitor also works with all other laptops I have tried with it (PC, macbooks, and macbook pros). I have tried with different cables/dvi-mini dvi adapters and same situation with all. When it stopped working was when i had my laptop unhooked for a weekend (traveling) the monitor was not touched while i was away which leads me to think software on my laptop. However it would not make sense for it to be a driver because it just stopped working with one certain monitor and not all. Does anybody have any idea what it could be?
    Carson

It's not impossible that corruption in the driver would be confined to one display and not affect others. You could try throwing away the related plist files. In /Library/Preferences there should be a file com.apple.windowserver.plist that can be trashed. Also, for your home account in /Users/accountname/Library/Preferences/ByHost should be com.apple.windowserver.xxxxxxxx.plist where xxxxxx is a string of letters and numbers and accountname is the name on the primary account. Throw that file away, too. Then restart.
When OS X restarts and finds those files missing from their expected location, it will generate fresh copies with factory default values. Hopefully that will clear up the issue with the Niko monitor not being properly recognized.

  • Microphone stopped working after Update

After upgrading my iPhone 5 to ios7.0.3, the microphone stopped working with calls on speakerphone or when asking Siri a question.  I took it to the Genius bar where they verified that it was a hardware issue, and charged me $199+tax to get a replacement phone.  That was after I talked them down from $269+tax.
This is an awesome scam - ruin your customers' hardware, and charge them to resolve it. The last Apple product I will ever by is this replacement phone.  Look for my iPad, iPad mini, Apple TV, iPod Nano, my week old $1,900 MacBook Air, and this replacement iPhone 5 64Gb on eBay this weekend.  It will take a little longer to liquidate my companies' Macs.  Lesson learned: never trust your business to a company that makes the software and the hardware.
Note this is the 2nd replacement phone.  The original iPhone 5 I bought died after about 6 months, and this one made it about another 6.  I didn't realize I was buying a $700 disposable phone.

try restoring it has new and then taking it in to apple

    Okay, do the following.
    1) Go into your control panel. You can get into this by either pressing Windows key + E, or search for control panel in the 'Search' box.
    2) Now select View By, and choose 'Large Icon' or 'Small Icon', which is on the top right corner of the Control Panel screen.
    3) Select 'Ease of Access Center'. Or you can skip step 1 and 2, by directly typing 'Ease of Access Center' in the search.
    4) Select 'Make the Keyboard easier to use'.
    5) Make sure you unselect 'Turn on Filter Keys' option.

  • Built in microphone stopped working

    Hi,
I have a NW8440 notebook running XP Professional Service Pack 2 with SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio.
I have used both the built-in microphone as well as a headset with microphone plugged into the headset and microphone jacks for several months, both with Skype and with recording software.  Within the last week, both microphones stopped working with no error messages.  Speaking into the microphone in Sound Recorder shows no change in the recording level, and playing back the recording only plays random noise.  Playback of saved files or internet downloads still works fine.
I tried updating the SoundMax driver to the 10/1/2007 5.10.1.5210 version on the HP website with no effect.
One thing I'm wondering about is that several websites I've seen indicate that both the playback and recording dialogs of the Volume Control should show a column for microphone.  In my case, however, microphone only appears as an option on the recording dialog, and when I click Options | Properties to click the checkbox to add it to the playback dialog, I find that microphone is not one of the listed choices there either.
Any ideas or help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi Ricky,
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • TS2634 My iPhone 4s does not ring for incoming calls. Ring tone is set/settings/sound. It used to ring. I think it has to do with updating to IOS 7.0.4? After updating IOS 7.0.3 my microphone stopped working. Had to clear/reload.

My iPhone 4s does not ring for incoming calls. Ring tone set and used to ring. I think it has something to do with updating the IOS 7.0.4. When I updated to 7.0.3 the microphone stopped working. Had to call Apple Support and cleared phone and reloaded. ($57 charge). Any suggestions?

Start with your finger at the bottom of the screen (about even with the home button) and swipe in an upward motion.  There should be a row of icons at the top of a grey field.  if the quarter-moon icon is bright white, tap it.  If it was (and still is) dark, take the iPhone in to be evaluated by a qualified technician.

  • Internal microphone stopped working today - Pavilion G7 - C2M31UA#ABA / Windows 8

    Hey there
I am using Skype quite often, but today my internal microphone stopped working. I restarted Skype, my laptop and I also followed all steps of you trouble shooting page. No change ...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Enter your device manager.
Can be found by pressing windowskey + x.
Press Sound, video and game controllers.
And right click and remove the one called Realtek high definition (should be something like that).
Reboot the computer, this should make it reinstalll the driver på itself.
If this doesn't work, search for the program called recovery manager. In here you pick the one furthest to the left, called something with reinstall driver. Here you find the one called IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver check it, and press install.
Since it used to work, and you dont have windows 8.1. If this still doesn't fix it, it must be some setting regarding your microphone. So try right clicking your speaker icon down in the right corner, when in desktop mode and pick recording units (translating directly from danish). Please let me know what you see in here.
    Best regards

    Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Internal Microphone not working with Quicktime and some other apps, yet it does for Skype.

Internal Microphone not working with Quicktime and some other apps, yet it does for Skype.
Microphone works fine with Quictime on another mac, so I do know how to use it. The one where it is not working (A) had an external microphone and camera attached earlier, and indeed it does work with that external microphone, but not with the internal microphone selected; and (B) had RealPlayer installed previously.
    Any suggestions, please?

    Hi,
    Download Audio driver from here.
Intructions how to install it in Vista/Win7.
    Extract this driver with Winrar.
Open Device manager and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
Right click on Either the High Definition Audio Device if you have the generic Microsoft drivers, or the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 if you have older Conexant drivers and choose "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software, then click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click "Have Disk..." then Browse to the folder where the drivers were extracted  .......\V64 for 64-bit Vista/Win7. Click OK.
Select one of the "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" models in the list, there will be multiple identical entries.
    Click Next, and you're done.
I'm not sure which one from the list will work for You.
This drivers weren't test. So if You will try them and it will work for You let us now about.

  • Tab S8-50L microphone stopped working

    Hello,
I recently bought this tablet and the mic was working (recorded a test video with sound). Now the sound is not recorded, neither when using sound recorder nor video recorder nor even Serviceit (Lenovo diagnostics app).
    Already tried the following solution:
Settings -> Language & Input -> Voice Search -> Bluetooth headset [TICK]
Unfortunately it didn't work, still nothing gets recorded.
I would like to believe this is a softfare problem, because my tablet didn't fall or get wet...

I think that I figured out my problem, hopefully this will help others if you are encountering a problem with your internal microphone stopping working.
    I changed:
FROM: Stereo Mix, Realtek High Definition Audio working (checked/default) -- unchecked now...
TO:  Microphone, Realtex High Definition Audio working (checked/default) and it works fine now.

  • Microphone stop working during calls.

    Hi to everyone,
i have a problem with my iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 received on 28th September from the Apple Online Store.
When i call or when i am called, in the middle of the call (after about 2-3 minutes), my microphone stop working: so i can hear others but they can't hear me.
This happens usually when my phone switch from 3G to EDGE (3G -> °). In other apps the microphone works well.
Is this a software bug? Or is my iPhone faulty?
I looked in the forum but unlucky i didn't find a real help, because none seems to know what is the nature of this issue (i know other guys have a problem like mine).
    Thanks a lot,
    Mattia.

The same thing is happening to me and most of the time I don't even get 2-3 minutes into the call before it happens.
I don't know if it's a coincidence, but it only started happening once I updated to the new OS 4.2

  • USB Microphone stopped working in 10.6.2

I have a CyberAcoustic headset that worked perfectly in 10.5 but since I upgraded to 10.6.2, the microphone stopped working (sound output to headphones still works perfectly). I checked the System Preferences Audio panel, the "USB Device" (which is my headset) is selected for input and the level is set to max. I tried it on three different machines, two of which were running 10.6.2 and one 10.5.7 and got the same result - 10.5.7 works perfectly while 10.6.2 doesn't. Are there any recommendations as to how to troubleshoot it and figure out what could be wrong? My uneducated guess would be that there's some device ID is missing in plist but I'm not sure about which one.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    JD

Hi JavaDuke & welcome to the forums...
Sorry if I missed it - did you run 'Audio MIDI Setup' (/Applications/Utilities) and see if settings there mesh with your current configuration expectations, etc....

  • Integrated microphone stopped working suddenly on my HP i-7 DV6! I tried everything!

Hi guys! Thanks to anyone seeing this. My laptop's integrated microphone stopped working suddenly. I have daily skype meetings and it worked perfectly fine but today it suddenly didn't work. I didn't make any significant changes before that.
I tried uninstalling and installing the drivers from the website but when I uninstalled, the new drivers said that a device is missing. I cannot paste the error message exactly how is written for you because it is in greek. but the translation is that a device part is missing or something.
after that I've done a system restore went back 4 days and I have now my drivers back but the microphone still isn't working.
I figured out that if i plug my apple headphones i can hear audio but it doesnt detect my recording. (i dont know if it's supposed to anyway!
Thanks in advance to anyone that might have a solution!

Thank you for this. You are amazing for trying to help me. I kept on not being able to find the solution for 2 days and no voice application worked until yesterday evening. I logged into an online shop and bought a headset costing £10. As long as I entered my details and pressed PAY, my girlfriend called me on skype and voila, she could hear me. I think there might be something wrong with the insides of my laptop! Might be a significant amount of dust and dirt.
Thank you very much again. If this happens again I will read this post again carefully and get back to you.
