Microphone transmitting computer sounds

My laptop has recently started transmitting all computer sounds through the microphone. I don't mean like game or video noises. I mean the actual computer sounds. The fan coming on to cool the unit makes a loud whirring noise and that transmits through the microphone as a loud "WHIIRRRR" noise. It makes high pitched screeching noises frequently, and starts to give random feedback loop noises of high pitched squeeks and beeps over and over until someone talks to make it stop, but even then it sometimes doesn't stop. It makes significantly less noise when teh computer is not cooling itself and I'm not doing much on it. How do I get this to stop?
Things I've tried:
- Turning the microphone sensitivity down on the computer itself and on skype
- Reinstalling skype
- using a cooling fan underneath the computer to help cool it off so the fan won't run so much but that didn't help at all
Should I just buy an external mic and drop this crappy internal one? Am I stuck with this without an expensive repair of some sort?

Three beeps usually indicate bad/faulty RAM or RAM slots. Have you tried with different RAM?

  • Best microphone for computer use w/ E-MU sound ca

My microphone is being read by the PatchMix, the volume bars spark up whenever you speak into the microphone, but it isn't being read by the rest of the computer. So I'm wondering which type of microphone-for-computer-use (foreign language programs and the like) would best work with the E-MU 0404. Logitech has a USB Microphone that claims to need no drivers, would that work? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hello Casey! Sorry that i haven't responded. I didn't think i was going to get an answer so i stopped looking at this post. I still have the problem though and i thank you for your reply.

    RTC Resume Disabled
    Usb Wakeup From s3/24 Disabled
Power on by PCIE/oboard Lan Disabled

  • Mix microphone and other sounds before sending to netstream?

Can I mix microphone and other sounds before sending to netstream?
Can I record audio from netstream without fms?

"Can I mix microphone and other sounds before sending to netstream?"
try to use advanced sound card or driver, it's not an AS deal, it's just your system options
"Can I record audio from netstream without fms?"
you mean to record on the end computer? or what?

  • Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?

Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?
The sound when I record video is not so good, so I'm trying to use the Bluetooth headphone/microphone to capture a person voice but not know which setting to use.

    Hi Robert
Thanks for answering. I didn't know where to post other than the bluetooth forum which is relatively quiet and had no answers forthcoming.
Yes the voice isn't reaching the amp although it is registering on the input bar in the Sound System Prefs, just won't "play through" as it were. I can't see how it could be done I was just hoping someone might see something I am missing.
It seems a shame that you can't do it as iTunes on an old iBook makes a good juke box for DJ'ing and with everything becoming wireless these days it seems sensible that you could cut that one last wire.

  • Quicktime no computer sound

How come quicktime can't record computer sounds? Would it be difficult to add this feature to Quicktime?
This feature would really make it an amazing recorder, now its just mediocre use on rare occasion , hey is that quicktime? long time no see app.
It really criples the video recording.

How come quicktime can't record computer sounds?
Because Apple chose not to program the application to have this capability. (My guess is that it would open Apple up to charges by commercial DVD manufacturers of providing a means of pirating copyrighted material by the general public.)
Would it be difficult to add this feature to Quicktime?
It would like be difficult to convince Apple to do this but actually doing so would be simple. In fact, you can do so yourself by installing a module like Soundflower but controlling the audio pipeline would have to be done manually. Some third-party apps use this same approach—even going so far as automating the installation process and controlling the audio pipeline internally. Other third-party apps include their own audio control routines. Basically, you have numerous options ranging from badgering Apple to include such features to installing them yourself to purchasing an application that includes this feature built in, as well as, many others not mentioned.

  • My computer sound is not working even the sound driver is installed

    HI,
i'm using windows 7, my computer sound was working perfectly, recently i tried to update my sound driver using DRIVER BOOSTER, after the update there was no sound when i tried to play music an ERROR appears, then i uninstalled it, still not working, i went
to DEVICE MANAGER, to check my SOUND DRIVER it says  '' This device is working properly.'' though i get no sound.
NB : my sound driver is 'Realtek high definition audio'.
    help me please.

First you need to go find the correct driver for you computer. If it is a dell, or similar model go to the manufacturers website. If not then go to Realtek to download the proper driver by model number.
Download the correct driver for your model soundcard.
You need to uninstall your current sound card driver. restart your computer
Upon restarting you can then install the proper driver by running the program you downloaded.
P.S. Only get your drivers from the manufacturers, third party drivers, like Drivers Dot Com and many others are just BAD to put it nicely. They rarely have the correct ones and more often then not add extra programs to the driver packages.

  • Suddenly - soundless videos (but iMac computer sounds okay)

So, today, for the first time and for no apparent reason, when playing video from websites, YouTube, emailed, everything, we have no sound on our iMac. Nothing.
Checked for regular computer sounds (emptying trash paper crumpling for instance) - all fine.
But no sound track to any videos whatsoever.
I did shut down and restart once, figuring that's always a good step 1. It didn't solve a thing.
    Any wisdom out there?

Also, in iPhoto, movies I've recorded play WITH sound.
It's just stuff on websites that won't play.
    Help!

  • Which input for recording computer sounds

I have recorded a number of tracks via my Soundblaster Line in input to AA. I have a software drum module which I want to record via AA, but I cant seem to get AA to register this input. It's not inputting via any line/mic/etc input, as it is on the computer already. Am I selecting the wrong input? I have tried a few of them on the list and none seem to work. Any ideas? Thanks.

If I open the Creative Audio Console, it has an option to record. You can select input for the recorder, and if I select "what u hear" then the equaliser bars respond to the drum software. However, in AA I cannot find an option to record "what u hear" or any equivalent - all the inputs seem to be for external sources (line in, digital in) and a few I don't understand (mix FL, mix RL) - if I choose these two latter ones, I get a sudden crescendo of feedback which causes the input level monitors to go into the red and cut out.
Update: I went into AA audio hardware setup and selected "Audition 3.0 windows sound" as the audio driver. The only output available is "SPDIF out". Now, I am able to select "what u hear" as a recording input!! HOWEVER, when I click "arm for record", I get the error message:
    Adobe Default Windows Sound Driver
Device: SPFID Out (Creative SB X-Fi)
    Errorcode: FFA-8-000D [800705aa]
Info: Playback failed. The audio system does not seem to respond. Maybe card does not support full duplex mode.
I am now able to record computer sounds, though I cannot hear the recording nor the playback when I am finished. If I set the device back to "Creative ASIO" then I am able to hear what I recorded.
My soundcard is a Creative 7.1 X-FI Elite Pro, which supports full duplex.
Would really appreciate any help !

    Hello, long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back
