Microphoto, media expl

I have a problem with the zen microphoto 8gb. After I installed media explore, my windows explore got "not response" many times, I am sure creative media explore caused it, because after I removed this, my windows explore can work with no problem. How to solve this? Mine is windows xp pro. edition.

Hello
Got a Creative Zen V, and after software installation, Windows Explorer hanged even without the product connected to the USB port. The problem is avoided by un-installing the Zen V Series Media Explorer component (5.4.07), and using Creative Media Source to do transfers between the PC and device. But, indeed, I think Creative should make an effort to solve this problem.
But surprise, even with the faulty component removed, I still get a My Computer\Creative Zen V entry on Windows Explorer, which is enough for my purposes, who needs the faulty extension? :-)Message Edited by barcarossa on 02-09-2007:05 AM

  • Zen Microphoto Media Explorer Playli

Just recently bought a Zen Microphoto Media Explorer for my wife. I have had an old Archos Jukebox for years, and like it a lot, but its kinda bulky now. Anyway, when I want to create a playlist for the Archos, I use Musicmatch Jukebox, which gives a lot of options on how ro order the songs - things like Order by artist, by album/track, shuffle randomly, etc. The Creative Mediasource organizer doesnt seem to have these options, forcing you to drag and drop your tracks one at a time is you want anything else than the order they are on the computer - not good when you have 000 songs on your player. So I guess my question is - is there an easier way to manage playlists. Am I missing something on the Creative MediaSource product? Can I use Musicmatch or Real Player (or something else) to create my playlists and then take them across to the player - I notice the playlist I have created has a 'zpl' suffix while MusicMatch is 'M3u'. Is there a plugin that would help? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance

Does the Micro have to be running MTP/PlaysForSure to use Real for playlist management?

  • My Microphoto Media Explorer Probl

quite simple actually,i installed the cd that came with my zen microphoto onto my vista laptop, no problems.whenever i hook up my microphoto to my laptop via usb cable, vista recognizes it and installs the driver succesfully. however, when i try to load up microphoto media explorer, windows explorer crashes and half of my taskbar disappears and i essentially have to restart. i can't see any solutions :\?help please =)

Creative seems to have dropped Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer from the Downloads page. :|
I prefer the Media Explorer software to the MediaSource versions, but maybe you could use Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 (52.2 MB)

  • Error transferring files using MicroPhoto Media Explo

Hello, I'm having a very frustrating issue. I just had the hard dri've replaced on my MicroPhoto 8, and now when I try to add files using MicroPhoto Media Explorer (as I have for the last 8 months), I get the message "files not transferred; unknown error."? Likewise, when I try to use that same software to rip a cd directly to the player, it acts like it's working, then I get an error message. I know there are other ways to accomplish this, but since I'm starting from scratch, I'd rather use the method that I find to be the fastest and that I'm most familiar with. I've reloaded the software onto my PC, I've rebooted, reformatted, and updated the firmware on the player. Has anyone had this problem, or have any suggestions? Thanks!

Error which pops up : "The destination you have specified does not exist. Might be an offline network location or empty cd or dvd drive. Check location and try again"

  • MicroPhoto Media Source is

I previously had a 5gig Zen Micro and just upgraded to a Photo. I installed all the stuff from the new CD, but now when I use Media Source, there are no Artist and Album window panes as there were with my Zen Micro. This makes it a big pain in the butt to sort through my files and make playlists. Is there any way to get these back? I could not find a way to do it. The weird part is that they show up when I view the music on my computer.

That is what I thought, but I was hoping there was another way.
Creative - The other way was easier and worked better. Having to jump through folders is a pain. What makes it wordse was that they were in folders on my computer, but when I uploaded them, they did ot show up in folders. When dealing with 700 songs, this is a pain.

You don't need USB2.0 but you will need to have at least Service Pack for your Windows XP and Windows Media Player 0 installed.

I had the same problem with my 40GB Touch a couple of days ago. I just needed to reset the player>clean disk>reboot?I had read that if the software detects any error codes in the player in will not detect it or connect. Hope this helps, it did for me but I'm still learning how to use mine (just picked it up used)?BTW I'm using WMP , couldn't get CMO 3 or 5 to work either?Message Edited by TP24 on 0-9-20070:9 PM

  • New Zen MicroPhoto not seen by XP or Vi

I'm a total newbie to Creative MP3 players. Just got one yesterday from Electronica Direct via Amazon's store. Running Vista on an HP Pavilian dual core (just 3 months old so very new cutting edge hardware) and running XP on a 5 year old Sony Vaio laptop. Both have latest MS service paks and security fixes.
Also, I appear to be running latest Creative stuff since when I check for updates it reports it doesn't find any. The Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer reports v5.0.2 and:
Creative Import Wizard File (Version .0.25.0)
Creative Audio CD Ripper (Version 5.00.20)
    Creative Sync Manager (Version 5.20.09)
    Creative Playlist Wizard (Version 3..5.0)
    PIM Editor (Version .3.0.0)
Creative Media Explorer reports on both PCs when Zen MicroPhoto plugged into USB:
"Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer."
I can play the music that comes with the Zen. I have used the supplied cable to plug into various USB ports on both PCs. Each time the Creative Media Explorer reports it doesn't see anything.
Under System info the MicroPhoto reports it is version .20.0.
If I unplug the USB plug from the MicroPhoto and then plug it in the MicroPhoto starts itself up. So does that mean it is seeing something electrically from the PC?
In both XP and Vista if I try to close the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer clicking on the red X does not close it.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under Portable Devices I only see:
    USB CF Reader
    USB MS Reader
    USB SD Reader
    USB SM Reader
Right clicking and doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under "Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers" I see Intel chips, a USB Mass Storage Device and a bunch of USB Root Hub entries. No Creative device. Also, doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help in this category either.
Similarly, I do not see the Zen MicroPhoto in the XP Vaio's Device Manager. The Vaio XP Device Manager does not show a "Portable Devices" entry in the main list.
Also, the Vaio's original USB ports are v.. If plug into one of them I can power up the MicroPhoto. The Vaio also has PCMCIA USB 2.0 extender ports and they appear not to provide enough power to start up the MicroPhoto. Does the MicroPhoto need USB 2.0?
I am open to suggestions for things to try...

Bump... I am having issues with duplicate tracks and allt he other crap that goes with mediasource...any help to get my explorer back would be appreciated.

  • "the device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to your computer" ?

Hi I have just bought it today, and the installation went thru without any trouble. Then when I connected my mp3 player as the book says I for one cant install it (since there's no driver for it) and when I look in the 'Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer' it claims that my device is not connected even though my computer has detected it - but can't install it for some reason. Any solutions, suggestions anything?thx in advance

I'm having the same problem with my zen vision m. It worked the first time I plugged it in, but now it doesn't work. The player says it's docked, and the computer says it detects it in the taskbar, but none of the programs recognize it. I've tried WMP, Musicmatch jukebox, the media explorer, and the source organizer but nothing recognizes it. I've restarted the computer, restarted the player, clicked "refresh devices" a hundred times and it still doesn't work. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Microphoto 8gig extracting voice record fi

Hi, i'm having some trouble extracting my voice recorded files from the zen to my computer.
Every other file such as .mp3 and photo files work fine but i just can't find any way to do this. Is it because the voice recorded files are wma's? I'm using the lastest firmware .3.0 on windows xp. The software i'm using is the microphoto media explorer.
    Thanks

Has anyone out there figured out how to do this?

  • Zen Microphoto won't sync anymore, but is recogni

Firstly let me say my Zen Microphoto has been syncing and working fine right up until now.
I have XP MCE SP2 installed...
But I am thinking perhaps the problem it won't sync is because I upgraded from Windows Media Player 0 to just today?
What happens is it plugs in, and charges. A couple of times the MTP device box pops up asking me what I want to do and I double click on sync with Media Player. However then it goes away and nothing happens, and Media Player cannot detect it -- but nor can Microphoto Media Explorer, so perhaps it is not a problem with Media Player?
I have searched around the forum and the only solution available is to delete the USB devices in Device Manager, reboot and let them reinstall, but I really don't want to do that, I don't know if anything will stuff up or not -- I have resetted the player and performed a scan disc, and it seems fine.
    Thanks for any help guys
EDIT: When trying to reinstall the driver (with Creative cd in dri've) I now get this message: "A service installation section in this INF is invalid" and it says my hardware may not work properly. Nothing has changed except now I have an exclamation mark on my Creative Zen Microphoto icon in Device Manager and I can't properly install the driver, with the proper cd! This is extremely frustrating!
Also, I have downloaded those three updates I've seen Mods list here a couple times for people with the same problemMessage Edited by psycho_orange0 on 05-8-2006 07:33 AM

  • Zen MicroPhoto first time connection proble

I recieved my new Zen MicroPhoto in the mail yesterday, whereupon I installed the software it came with and hooked it up via USB to charge. The USB connection is quite sensiti've, but I can get the player to charge.
However, when I tried to add some songs, the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer (which the user guide tells you to open) says at the top that my player is not connected. The USB is plugged in exactly the same was as though to charge it but it won't be recognized by the Media Explorer. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is it only possible to add or remove songs when the player is fully charged?
Most of these posts are from people who were able to upload songs initially but are having problems down the road. I saw tips about reinstalling firmware on the player and other things, but as the player is brand new it seems unlikely that it is corrupted. I already tried reinstalling the software it comes with on my computer, just to check.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I installed all of the software on another computer in my house and the player was recognized and I was able to copy some files onto it.
The problem could be with my USB's or the bits of software I omitted when installing it. Right now I'm uninstalling everything and going to reinstall it later this evening. If it doesn't work then, I'll be back. My computer is updated and so is my Windows Media Player.
    The end.

  • Zen Microphoto Problem!! Help plea

Ok, so i've got blue microphoto. It has been working great during a year. But now theres a problem. When i connect it to my computer, and try to move music there with MicroPhoto Media Explorer, it says: "Your player is not connected. Please connect your Creative Zen Microphoto to the computer." But it is connected correctly. It has been working before. I have tried to install the cd few times, but it doesnt help. What shall i do?

    Well. I did this: Start -> Run.. -> devmgmt.msc
Then look for microphoto from the list, then click that update thing up in buttons when u have selected that player. Then look for updates with internet. That program connects to the windows update thing, and finds an update. Its something like that has 3 letters in beginning and first is M.. i mean the updates name. Then it wokrked.

  • Zen Microphoto usage without installat

I was wondering, I am going to be taking my Zen Microphoto over to Europe soon. I was wondering if i HAVE to install the CD I got with it to access my files and upload pictures and such. I was planning on storing all of my digital pictures on this player, so since in most internet cafe's and such your not allowed to install software, I want to just be able to plug my usb cables in, and use explorer to upload files. Is this possible?
    Thank you!

    Slacker,
My bad, I misread the post as you were having Zen Micro. Firmware version .20.0 is PlayForSure supported for the Zen MicroPhoto. Did you installed the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer in your computer now? If you did, go to the Media Explorer, Settings and Information menu. There's a option in there "Show device in My Computer". Enable that and you should be able to see the device listed in My Computer.
