MicroSD cards and E51

Hi, Guys!
Previous e51 was stollen, that's why I without any thinking ordered another one with the same configuration: e51 + 4 Gb Transcend MicroSD HC card class 6. And I was badly surprised when I have copied some music on this card and could not even normally update music library. After some operations(like entering "Gallery" or trying to save photos from "Camera") phone even was rebooted himself. I've tried to install the latest firmware, have formated card using mobile phone function. At last I've copied files to/from flashcard using obvious card reader. Everything is looks great, when this card and phone are separate. What's to do? I've checked as phone, as flash card. I don't want change this phone or vendor, because I really loved my previous e51.
Dear Nokia, please, help!

I bought my Nokia E51 a month ago. I've read a lot about the microSD incompatibility issue, and I was a little bit confuse... In the end I've bought a 4 GB, class 6 microSD(HC) from Verbatim which is working perfectly!!! I tried all sorts of data transfer (via USB with PC suit/data transfer, via Bluetooth, and also directly with memory card reader) and everything works smoothly

    Hey there...
When you plug your device into your computer, does the BlackBerry Device Manager display a message about initializing the storage volume access?  You should be able to access the storage on your device (whether it's the device or the microSD card) directly from your File Manager.
I'm not familiar with a Mac all that much so, you could check your File Manager... It may show 2 drives which have the name similar to "DeviceName [DevicePin] (Drive)".  One of them would be your microSD card, and you should be able to copy and paste your media files directly.

  • Preventing MacOSX from writing trash folder to MicroSD card.

Is there a way to prevent MacOSX from writing hidden trash files to a specific drive? I have a card reader that I use to add files to my MicroSD card and whenever I delete something off the drive I notice that it saves these deleted files to a trash directory on the card. Is there any way to disable this?
    Thanks in advance
    -Tim

No. Trash is always put in a folder on the device from which the item is deleted. Be sure to empty the Trash to assure the item is actually deleted.

  • Toshiba Excite Pro Microsd card Media Scanning

hi, my toshiba excite won't scan the music of the external microsd card and and they can't be shown in the toshiba media player app. I think it is the fireware problem, will there any update to fix this problem?? Thanks

You might want to try backing up the data from the card to a laptop, formatting the card, and then moving the data back to try again.

  • Recommended MicroSD cards for N82?

I'm planning on buying an new MicroSD card and wondered what people's opinions were on which was the best make and size for storage, and performance.
I currently use the 2Gb card supplied by Nokia, but I also have a 2Gb SanDisk card I'm not currently using.
Your opinions are all gratefully received with thanks in advance.

Its unlikely that you will have any problems with one of the named brands, eg Lexar or Sandisk
I have an 8GB Sandisk card in my N78 - works great
Seconded - although I'd never heard of Lexar before. SanDisk and Kingston are the brands I tend to recommend, and I've had an 8GB SanDisk card in my N95 for a while now.
FWIW, Nokia does sell an 8GB card, the MU-43, but the price will probably be rather steep. They sell the MU-41, a 4GB card, already at about twice the price of everyone else's 8GB cards.

  • 4k video recording and microSD card speed

Hello, I am currently trying to find what microSD card type Xperia Z2 needs to shoot 4k videos smoothly. Is UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) card with about 30 MB/s writing speed enough to shoot 4k videos with no problems at all? I am just asking if Sandisk Ultra series are enough and should I bother with Sandisk Extreme for example with 45 MB/s writing speed or with Xperia Z2 4k video recording I won't see any difference?

sandisk shows better compatibility with xperias
also beside of writing speed you must format your sd card with "exFAT" format, caues of 4GB writing limit

  • Lumia 630 and saved maps On a microsd card

    hello all,
I am currently using a lumia 630 and i am having the following problem... I travel a lot around europe and i want to have all the map information about europe installed to my phone. The problem is that the phone's memory is limited and if i download all the information i want there will be no space left for anything else!!! Is there a way to download all map information to a microsd card???
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

At the moment there is not. I use the 630 as a secondary phone and would love to use it for Maps but just like you I hit the memory problem. I have all maps stored in my 1020, but that can't maintain battery for long journeys. Until they change it so that maps can be stored on memory card, the phones with 8GB memory are not good options for serious map users.

  • GS5 running 5.0 just master reset and deleted microSD card

My GS5 running 5.0 just reset while I was walking, it wasn't being used just held.   The red Verizon screen came on the phone for 5 minutes then everything was gone/reset.  Including all the data I had saved on my microSD card.

Thanks, I have changed my Google password.  I had all my recent pictures/videos backed up to my microSD card. Figuring that was redundant and safe, I turned off the cloud service backups for pic/vids. It's really frustrating losing several months of pictures/videos of your first child, lesson learned.
On a side note 5.0 sucks really, really bad compared to kitkat.

  • MicroSD Card Corrupts and Restarts Centro

    Hello,
My Verizon Centro has been randomly corrupting my SD card after I sync and when saving a photo to the card. If I remove the corrupt card and then replace it in the centro, it will then reboot infinitely until I remove the card and reformat it with my PC. The card info page shows a seies of boxes by the little sd card symbol and ptunes claims I have removed the card. If I explore the card with my PC, all the files have boxes for names and will not let me explore the files themselves as the directory syntax is incorrect. Sometimes pTunes will play the last song played but will not find any other songs. I have been removing my card for syncs or just formatting the card and reinstalling the music data to a "MUSIC" folder on the card almost daily. Anyone else having this problem? Help please.

  • Downloaded ringtones to microSD card but can't figure out how to use them

I downloaded a bunch of ringtones and I can find them if I go to "Files/ringtones" on my microSD card, but when I try to use one in Settings/sounds/phone ringtone they are not there.  I can't figure out how to use them.  Can anyone help??  Thanks!

When I go to Music app, the ringtones aren't in the list of artists/songs.  They are stored in the ringtones folder so I don't think they would show up in the Music app.

  • Lumia 1520/AT&T: What is the best MicroSD card opt...

    Hello,
I am writing to the Nokia forums because I have a doubt on which 64gb MicroSD card I should buy for my Nokia Lumia 1520 (AT&T model). I want to use this card for photos and video recording at 1080p up to 30FPS.
Doing some research, I found that for best results I need a Class 10 MicroSDXC card if I don't want the video to skip during the recording if writing the video directly to the card as I record. Apparently I also have to look for the UHS-1 designation aside from Class 10.
Therefore, I went shopping around in Amazon.com and I have narrowed down my choices to the following three cards.
    Sandisk 64GB Class 10 UHS-1
    Transcend 64GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1
    Sony 64GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1
Out of the three choices which one provides the better option? I am leaning towards the Transcend MicroSD card, but would like to get a feedback from Lumia 1520 owners.

I have just found out I was using a Class 10 SanDisk microsdhc card, and am concerned that I may have done damage to my phone and/or music collection (as per Nokia guidelines). Is anyone able to tell me what the chances are that this will have damaged them, and if there's anything I can do to rectify? Thanks!

  • Is it possible to install an app obtained via a MicroSD card or Bluetooth?

Suppose I'm in an area where there is very little Wi-fi or other internet access (e.g. rural Papua New Guinea).
Or, an area where the internet is strictly controlled or monitored. So the Marketplace is not an option.
People around me are using their cheap cell phones to share photos via bluetooth, and music and videos via SD cards.
Question: can I also distribute an app via MicroSD card or Bluetooth?
I've tried this with some Java phones and found that installing an app from either of those sources is disallowed.
    What about on FirefoxOS?
The Firefox OS web site says you can update the OS from an SD card.
One of the FAQ's at http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZTE-OPEN-C-3G-Unlocked-Firefox-Smartphone-Cell-Phone-Dual-Core-GPS-WiFi-AT-T-/291243074570?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item43cf70a40a suggests that you cannot install an app from an SD card, at least on a ZTE Open C.
But I'd like to get more of a horse's-mouth answer, if possible.
Is this something that Firefox OS leaves up to the discretion of each phone manufacturer?
Or is it considered such a security risk that Firefox OS will not allow it on any phone?
    Thanks,
    Lars

    Hi, huttarl!
Beyond the Firefox Marketplace, your options for distributing apps are unfortunately rather limited.
To my knowledge, Firefox OS does not support any Bluetooth/microSD card app installation. However, you can install an app to a phone by connecting the phone to a computer via USB cable. This is often used by developers but may suit your needs: [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Using_the_App_Manager See this article on the Mozilla Developer Network].
I hope that helps! Please feel free to post back with more questions.
