Microsoft 2.4 GHz wireless notebook mouse not working

My old wireless mouse broke & I purchased and downloaded Microsoft 2.4 GHz wireless notebook mouse (with "IntelliPoint 6.3 for Mac" disc). But whenever I put in the mouse, it appears:
USB Over Current Notice
A USB device is currently drawing too much power.
The hub it is attached to will be deactivated.
What to do? There is not yet Bluetooth on my macbook.

If your computer supports Bluetooth, why not just get a BT mouse. I had a Logitech that worked fine. Then I switched to the BT Mighty Mouse and I think it's the best mouse I've ever owned with the except the fact that it's TOO easy to pick it up backwards due to the fact that its the same width for most of the length.

  • Apple wireless Mighty Mouse not working in Windows XP Pro/Boot Camp

I was able to get Windows XP Pro to install successfully on my new iMac, but I can only get a wired Microsoft USB mouse to work with it. When I boot to WinXP with just my wireless Mighty Mouse, the wireless mouse is completely unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution? Thanks!

Why not post in the Boot camp forum:

I have a new Mac Book Pro and was wondering if the Kensington Si670m Bluetooth Wireless Notebook Mouse worked flawlessly with Boot Camp Windows XP SP2? Also, because it is bluetooth, does it come with a dongle? I'm hoping it doesn't so I can have a free USB port. It's here at the Mac Store online:

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Not Scrolling After Update to 10.6.8

The  use to work wireless migthy mouse stop working after system update to 10:6:8
Tried pair and unpair and re-setup, downloading USB Overdrive and uninstall it, still no used.
This is frustrating,  Apple, your service had not improved and getting worse!

Look in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad.   There's a scrolling option there that must be checked.

  • The volume keys on my Logitech K760 wireless keyboard do not work with my 2.3 GHz, Intel Core i5 Mac mini which runs Mac OS X 10.7.4. Anyone know how to correct this without having to re-code firmware?

My first post to the Apple Support Community so it looks like all I wanted to know is covered in the title. The research I have done led me to solutions that I am not comfortable trying for fear of irreparably damaging my keyboard and/or Mac mini. Does anyone have a simpler solution? Please? Hellooooo?
Just in case the title is too long to show, I have re-pasted here:

  • Part replacement for Apple Wireless bluetooth mouse ( not mighty)

I am looking for a bottom panel for my old apple wireless bluetooth mouse (not mighty). My son has dropped it down and that is how is not switching off anymore. I am thinking about replacement of that anyway removable panel (you remove it to place batteries),so I guess this part must be around somewhere. Any help is appreciated, thank you very much in advance!

    Hello m:
The only people that can answer that are the Apple people. As far as I know, those parts are not available from the web site.
Frankly, I think I would buy a new mouse as something may be damaged internally.

  • Ultraslim wireless keyboard and mouse not working

Hi ,  I purchased the Lenovo Ultraslim Wireless Keyboard & Mouse (pn: 57Y4700) about 4 months ago for use with my T60 laptop (which i use with a docking station and large lenovo monitor at work).
Everything was woking fine until last Monday when I can into work after the weekend and neither the mouse or keyboard worked. I replaced the batteries in both, rebooted the machine several time, switch the USB ports for the nano receiver, but nothing seems to have worked.
I looked online for troubleshooting options, but did not find anything.
The mouse and keyboard don't seem to have a "sych" button - if I recall correctly everything worked right out of the box.
My theory is that the nano reciever was damaged (not sure how) -- but don't know how to proceed:
    can the nano reciever be replaced;
    any other options to troubleshoot;
any chance that this could be a software problem
    Thanks

  • Mouse not working when reinstalling OS X with install disk

I am trying to reinstall OS X 10.3 on iMAC G5 after a hard drive crash with the help of the original install disks, but my wireless mouse does not work anymore. Any ideas how I can solve this or go through the installation process with the keyboard alone? I couldn't find a keyboard shortcut to tab from a list in a window to the select button...

How is your mouse not working? Is it dead?
Is the wireless mouse a Mighty Mouse or a 3rd party mouse?
    Does you mouse need batteries?
    *Just in case it's dirty:*
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302417 How to clean your Mighty Mouse
Take a piece of bright white paper, turn the mouse upside down on it, press down on the ball, and run the mouse quickly in circles over the paper. This will remove all the gunk that's building up on the ball
TIP: To get to the gook inside the scroll nipple use a plastic toothpick.
"Other Options:" Wear latex disposable gloves. A box of same can be purchased from your local Dollar Store or Pharmacy.
Some cell phone leather cases actually fit right over the Mighty Mouse.
Clean/wipe the Mighty Mouse off with a damp cloth/rag prior to going to bed each evening.
Some users have found using the small alcohol pads quite successful. These can be obtained from any drug/pharmacy or Dollar Store.
Only do the following if your warranty has run out:
Cleaning inside and dismantling the Apple Mighty Mouse
If so, then I suggest (if your 1 year warranty is not up and/or you have Apple Care Protecton Plan) you call Apple Tech Support & ask for a replacement.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Thanks for the information, that is exactly what I needed.
If you are having the enter issue when using the wired KB from your old computer that sounds software related with the blog site.
What web browser do you use when on that website?
Connect your wireless equipment back and if you continue to have the issue with the letters repeating then you should inquire about a replacement for what is referred to as "sticky keys".  With it being a new unit this shouldn't be an issue.
Let me know if you have other questions.

  • The "alt, ctrl and shift" on the left side of my keyboard keys integrated notebook did not work. What should I do?

The "alt, ctrl and shift" on the left side of my keyboard keys integrated notebook did not work. What should I do?

    Hi Luis Fernando Garcia,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has troubleshooting for keys not working on your keyboard:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1381
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Universal Access pane in System Preferences, click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sureMouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, seeUnable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by Mac OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

  • Satellite A660 - Broadcom internal wireless adaptor is not working

    Hi all,
My first post to this board - I have a new Toshiba Satellite A660 notebook - have only had it for about 4 weeks and it has turned out to be a disaster for me...
FIRST - I spend weeks getting everything on and configured the way I want it - then the hard disk starts to die...
I just got it back from the Toshiba service centre and NOW the wifi has stopped working...
The internal broadcom wireless adaptor is not working - but according to windows and the built in diagnostics it IS working...
HOWEVER - when I try to use wireless with the built in adaptor it can't detect any wireless networks...
I then plug in my backup usb netgear wireless adaptor and I can pick up and connect to both of my home wireless networks...
I am going overseas in a few weeks and need to know that my notebook is going to work/be reliable and not have any more problems - if anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated.
    John.

A further update for you all...
Okay - went back to the Toshiba service centre - the first dead hard disk was replaced by them - but the REAL problem not spotted - it looks like my laptop came out of the Toshiba factory with a faulty motherboard - this in turn has now fried the second hard drive - and now - with a new motherboard and THIRD hard drive it looks like the hardware side of things MIGHT just be solved - but NOW I still have the problem that because the motherboard has been screwed since day one (I only bought this laptop in November 2010) it has basically stuffed/corrupted all of my backups - so now the service centre is charging me 60 dollars to get a set of disks so I can re-image the system myself when I have the chance - and then spend a month putting back all the applications and configuration and data the way I had it after the first few weeks of buying it (at that stage I thought I was good to go and had the perfect new laptop and setup for work...)
So - I'm heading off overseas in a couple of weeks - my 3 year extended warranty from Australia will not be of any use to me where I am going - not covered - but am STILL hopeful that I'll get the rest of the problems sorted - still can't run the toshiba hdd protection software for more than a few days without it dying and having to be reinstalled and the toshiba pc health monitor does not work at all - when I go to install it it doesn't recognize the bios or whatever - and on top of that I'm using third party hard disk monitoring software (because the toshiba stuff doesn't work on this toshiba laptop - but the third party stuff does) - well, anyway - the third party software is telling me the hard disk has reallocated sectors count error - and there is a CAUTION showing all the time - which I guess indicates that there is now a hard drive problem with the third hard disk (?)
Anyway - if ANYONE has had a similar run of bad luck to mine with the A660/O7U - I'd really like to know...
    John.

My apple wireless keyboard is not working after new batteries installed.

Do you get a steady green light to say there is a connection.    If not, are the batteries the right way round.   Do you have a monitor to tell the batteries strength. Is there a reading.   Are the batteries good quality ones, Duracell, Energiser or Apple rechargeables.
