Microsoft Access 2003 - Import xls issue

I'm having an issue with oracle SQL developer which exports an xls file then I proceed to import that xls in Microsoft Access 2003. I got a following error message related to the headings.
"The first row contains some data that can't be used for valid Access field names. In these cases, the wizard will automatically assign field names."
If I proceed with this issue in Access, it'll bring up an error message about importing the xls in Access.
I have a solution by removing the trailing column via Excel application then import the xls. I wonder any one have any better wayaround this issue?
I have the latest version and it has 2 patches.
Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention the last column has some trailing spaces in the first row.

  • Compact and Repair Anomaly in Microsoft Access 2003 - dupicate key repair

Can anyone explain the anomaly below where “Compact and Repair” is less functional on System A?
     System A:       Microsoft
     Access 2003 v11.8321.8403 SP3 on Windows XP SP3
     System B:        Microsoft
     Access 2003 v11.8166.8172 SP3 on Windows 7 Home Premium
“System A” is the operational system.
The application is a back end–front end pair of Access .mdb files.
    Sequence 1:
The user on System A gets a unique key error(*) when attempting to enter a new row in a particular form, though there appears to be no key clash.
The back end file undergoes “Compact and Repair”.
Compact and Repair has modified the file which has halved in size (10MB down to 5MB)
The unique key error still occurs.
N.B.: I also tried preceding the “Compact and Repair” by opening the back end with "/decompile".
    Sequence 2:
Original front end–back end pair copied to System B
The user on System B gets a unique key error(*) when attempting to enter new row.
The back end file on System B undergoes “Compact and Repair”.
The user on System B is now able to enter the row
The back end file is copied back to System A
The user on System A is now able to enter new rows
Inference: The Compact and Repair on System B was effective and on System A was not.
(*) The dialogue box error reads:
The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship.

  • Word 2003 Import - TOC Issue

I have a problem when importing docs into RoboHelp HTML X5.02
    from Word 2003.
The TOC generates with the correct structure based on the TOC
from my document, but the generated Topics are not linked to the
TOC books/pages that have been created.
I am having to use the Topic > Properties > Find Topic
dialogue and paste the topic title into the Topic Search field to
manually find and match all the TOC Topics.
The problem seems to have started when I began importing docs
in languages other than English. Now it applies to English as well.
I have found that I can intermittently import docs
successfully if the doc content is all set to US English language,
and the doc is imported from the RoboHelp starter, rather than from
RoboHTML. Even so this doesn't seem to function consistently.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am generating large Projects in
4 languages, and matching all the Topics manually is becoming a
    serious issue.

I forgot to mention the last column has some trailing spaces in the first row.

  • Can I use Web Services with Microsoft Access?

I'm somewhat handy with Microsoft Access (2003 in particular), but not an expert. Macros? No problem. VBA? I'd be hard pressed to code anything from scratch, but I'm not too bad with modifying code/examples to fit my particular scenario. So, if anything about this doesn't ring quite right, now you'll know why. Some years ago I worked with another guy to develop a module that used REST(?) to query some web services at Yahoo!. If that worked, I was hoping that I could do similar things with CRMOD I was thinking, for example, I might want to get the Opportunity Sales Stage for a number of records. And since there are tools for Excel and Word, I thought Access might work, too. As a starting point, I imagine I need to use the Web Services Toolkit for Office 2003. But frankly, I don't even know where to go beyond that.
Am I wasting my time? Any suggestions for an intro to web services?

    Probably not through USB.
But likely if its anytihng like the Microsoft Sync in my Ford Explorer you can play audio from it through Bluetooth.
You can read here for compatibilites, and features.

I connect My iPad to the Sync media center with no issues and can play my musci from the iPad thorugh the car stereo speakers.

  • Access 2003 - Repeated "You cant make changes to the database" error

    Hey all,
Im having a very strange problem with Microsoft Access 2003, we work with old databases and when we open them up through Access 2003 we get the message "you cant make changes to the database objects" error, which is expected. However the laptop has started to repeat this message over and over about 8 times after the first time you click on it. Its very annoying to have to keep clicking to get rid of the error message. Its a very strange problem, any ideas on how to solve this or even to explain what might of happened will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
P.S. It is not an option to update the database, we work with a program that uses an old 97 database and if you update the database the program will stop working.

    Hi
Firstly it doesnt seem that this is a Toshiba notebook fault.
This sounds more like a Microsoft issue.
I would recommend checking the Microsoft knowledge base articles or/and contact the Microsoft support.
I have investigated a little bit and found these pages. Maybe you will find useful infos.

  • Microsoft Access Database can't be accessed at times

Just wondering if anyone else is having troubles with running a Microsoft Access 2003 running on OES 11 SP1?
Not sure what is causing it but everyone once and a while our database is only accessible to one person at a time. We can run weeks at time without issues. Once I restore back from backup its fine.
Probably not a Novell issues but thought I would check. We also are running Windows XP and Windows 7 machines.

If the OPLOCK_SUPPORT_LEVEL parameter is not listed, add a line for the OPLOCK_SUPPORT_LEVEL option, set it like this:
    OPLOCK_SUPPORT_LEVEL 0
    Ive also added: CROSS_PROTOCOL_LOCKS 1
The above is not effective immediately I'm not sure what services need to be restarted, or reboot server!
That will sort out oplocks on your NSS volumes. Then you still need to set the properties of the Novell Client not to do client side caching.

  • Microsoft Access

I am using Crystal Reports 10 for Sage.  I created an Access Database using Microsoft Access 2003.  I am using Sage PFW.  The report works well when running it from Crystal Reports, but when I run the report through Sage PFW, the database is deleted after I close the report.  Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening?

  • How do I obtain 'Save As PDF' option in MS Access 2003?

Ever since I installed the Adobe CS2 Premium Suite (containing a full copy of Acrobat) on my PC a long time ago, the main menu of Microsoft Access 2003 has contained an item that would let me save an Access report as a PDF. I have since upgraded to Adobe CS4 Design Premium (which includes Acrobat Pro V9).
Recently, that menu item in Access has disappeared for some unknown reason and a reinstall of Acrobat Pro V9 made no difference. Does anyone know how I can reinstate the 'Save As PDF' option in Access 2003?
    David

I have now found a fix for my problem. After learning that the missing facility was called PDFMaker, I was able to get more useful results from a Google search. This led me to the following Adobe Archived Technote, entitled 'PDFMaker is unavailable in a Microsoft Office application'.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/330/330984.html
This Technote provides a string of 14 possible solutions, none of which worked until I got to Solution 6: 'Add the COM add-in file to the Windows registry'. This was done by running the following command in the Win XP Start/Run box.
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll"
With hindsight, this problem was almost certainly caused by me letting a Microsoft technician have remote access to my PC a few weeks ago in what proved to be a vain attempt to fix a Microsoft Update error relating to Office. This technician spent 40 mins making many changes to the Registry...

I had this similar problem - 32-bit SQL Server 2005 trying to import tables from Access 2000 .mdb file, same error:

I know you said you clicked "Advanced..." and Test Connection when you chose your Access database - but that is what resolved the error for me.  I chose my .mdb file, username is admin, password is blank, but if I don't click the Advanced button and test the connection before continuing on, the import fails with above error message.  Go figure, since the username/blank password is correct.
FWIW, sorry if that doesn't help you though.

  • Is there any way of importing stuffs from Microsoft Access to SQL Server?

I have quite a big store of information Microsoft Access DB, but now i am required to switch to SQL Server?
Is there any way of importing to SQL Server, either by Java programming or manually?
    Thank you in advance.

I like to give some tips on how to fulfil the requirement.. I haven't tried this. If you succeeded, it is well and good.
    1) Using Java:
If you like to Java to import the data from MS Access to SQL Server, you have to write a JDBC Program in such a way that it has to retrieve the data from each MSAccess tables and store it in temperory java varaible. After writng into the temp. varaibles, the same thing will be written into SQL Server. The whole process is repeated for all the tables in MS Access.
    2) Manual Process:
Try to get the data scripts from MS-Access for all the tables and Load the same into SQL Server
I hope that Manual Process consumes less time compared in writing the codes for transformation..
I hope that you got some idea on reading this. If you have any doubts, try to get back to me..

  • Trying to Import data from Microsoft Access in POWERPIVOT

    Hello,
I am trying to import data from Microsoft Access into Powerpivot. In my Access database I have several query's.
When I go to the Table Import Wizard in powerpivot, I only see one source table. Why can't I see the other query's?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Soraya

    Hello Soraya,
Which Version of MS Excel / Power Pivot are you using? Do you try to Import from a MDB or from the new Format ACCDB? Are these common queries in MS Access or pass-through queries?
In common it should work, if I Import from a MDB I can see & select both, tables & views (queries):

  • Microsoft Office 2003 Business Edition activation issues

I just got my MacBook Pro for college and I was trying to activate Microsoft Office 2003 on my Windows Vista Bootcamp partition and I ran into this issue. At first I tried activating it on Windows XP, it didn't work. I installed Vista, it gives the same error.
I've Google'd, Bing'd, and whatnot. Usually I can figure this stuff out, but I can't get it to activate.
Here's a pic of the error I get when I try to activate over the Internet:
    http://i45.tinypic.com/69qjyd.png
I need to figure this out before tomorrow, as my "Big Presentation for my Senior Year" is due. Thanks.
    Edit:
And for those wondering, I ran it on my desktop and it activated perfectly. No issues, even activated under Crossover on the Mac (But it has issues when it comes to Powerpoint).

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
might indeed be that you activated your Office one time too often.
Microsoft seems to only allow a limited number of online activation before they suspect some dishonest useage of their product.
Might be best to do what that error message proposes: to call Microsoft and explain to them your situation and ask for a new activation key.
Good luck (and also with your presentation)

  • Issue exporting ms access 2003 to xml - error 35021

I downloaded the latest version of migration workbench.
I have access 2003 mdb. when I run the omwb2003.mde against it to export to xml, i get the following error
Error #35021 - - Can't find project or library, c:\temp\plc.mdb Database Schema Export did not complete successfully.
The access database is a design master (not a replica) and no security enabled.
    Access ODBC driver is 4.00.6019
I downloaded and installed MDAC .
Where do i go next - I wasn't able to find anything on error 35021.
Thanks in advance for any and all help
    Peter

I was having this 35021 problem but finally got it to work. I was running on win 2000, with Access 2002 installed. I tried it on another computer on the network, running win xp pro and the same version of Access 2002. I didn't get this problem, but after several minutes, the Access running the database to be exported would crash. The omwb2002 reported the schema written, but there was no output file.
I had the omwb2002.mde on the file server, and the database being converted on the win2k machine. I moved both the omwb and the database to a local drive on the win xp machine, set the output directory to be on the local drive, and it worked.
I did some further expirementing, and it seems to work fine as long as the omwb2002.mde is on a local drive of the machine it's going to be run on.
The fact that it works on one machine but not another indicates that this problem isn't specific to the database being converted, but has something to do with the platform the conversion is being run on.
I realize this isn't a fix, but a workaround. If you can't wait for tech support to fix this problem, my advice is keep trying on different machines until you get it to work. Make sure that the .mde is on a local drive.
    I hope this helps

  • Login issues using linked tables in Microsoft Access

    Hello everyone!!!
Anybody knows how to set the ODBC Login and password for a group of Oracle ODBC linked tables in MS Access by using DAO or VBA?. I need to use DAO instead of ADO for my application since I use ODBC and an Oracle Database.
I know I can use the "save password" check box in the linked tables dialog, but I am developing and Access Application for my company and I'm using a generic username for the application itself by I need not to store the password in the connection string because is easy for an end user to obtain.
I would like to have a form to set the password as long it is opened, and when the form closes, the password is cleared. (Actually, when the control panel form closes, I close Access itself).....
Is there any way to set the password in the DBEngine.Workspaces object??
I searched Microsoft Developer web site and there is severan articles about this topic, but none of them work in an Oracle Database.
Is there any way to communicage with the Oracle Client from the Access application and set the password??
Thanks, I know it's a very technical question, but is the only thing I need to solve to finish my application.!!!!

Does anyone know if JDBC can access linked tables
in a Microsoft Access?I doubt the bridge can. However the link is created using ODBC so you can access it directly.

When I try to print from Microsfot Word, Excel, etc. Version 2003 files will not print. I have adobe standard version 8, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit, Microsoft Office 2003. Please help!!!!  I don't get an error message. The progress bar stops at about 10% and goes no further.

AA8 is not certified for Win7, particularly X64. Be sure to update your Acrobat to the most current version and you might be able to use it. As an alternative, print to file when using the printer and then open the file in Distiller to get the PDF. That may be your only choice, but I do think some folks have been successful with WIn7 and AA8. However, the x64 system puts a wrench into the problem.
