Microsoft Action Pack - Labtech

Hi,
We subscribe to Microsoft Action Pack solution provider and are setting up a LabTech server.
Could someone please advise if we can use a MAPS Server Standard 2012 R2 licence for LabTech?
We have contacted Microsoft licencing team who put us through to the admin team for MAPS who wanted to refer us on LabTech as well as back to their licencing team for the information.
Thanks in advance

MAPS = internal use/can be used in business.
Labtech is your remote management tool.
The eula - as I recall the last time I read it - said you can use it for internal business use but cannot host client web sites on it.
Which I don't think would apply here.  Let me get some other eyeballs to see if we see any issues with the use of Action pack.
Unfortunately TechNet isn't coming back, sorry folks :-(

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard entitlement in Microsoft Action Pack Subscription

In the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription Windows Server 2012 Std shows "2" as the entitlement.
I'm not sure what this means. A "normal" Server 2012 Std includes:
    1. One activation for the host (Hyper-V)
    2. Two activations for guests on the same host
....making a total of three activations
I'm guess from reading some threads that partners don't get the same as a normal Std license, but it's pretty fuzzy.
I have two physical servers running Windows 2008R2 with the hyper-V role enabled, each hosts a number of VMs (all with their own licenses). I want to upgrade to Hyper-V v3 (2012). It has been suggested that the two entitlements will not allow me to install
Win2012Std on both machines, and that I will only be able to install on one of the machines with a 2nd virtual installation on the same machine. I got kinda excited and thought I would be able to install core on each machine, then to install 2 VMs on each
    machine to test replication etc.
Does anyone know what the story really is?

You may want to ask them over here.

  • Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Action Pack - please, need download

Hello, I have a current Action Pack subscription and valid installation keys. Our file server crashed and we lost a lot of our software library. We have Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on disc, but not 64-bit. Since Windows 7 is no longer offered in the Action Pack,
we cannot again download the 64-bit version.
We are only looking for a download of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit for Action Pack, English, please. This is not an attempt to pirate any licenses.
    Thank you!

  • Problems with Skin Retouching Actions pack

Hello everyone and sorry for my bad English. I need some help if possible: I bought and downloaded Skin Retouching Actions (I have C6S on Mac) but I can not install it in Photoshop with the Extensions Manager.
When I try to open the action pack I get this message "An unexpected error occurred while trying to verify this extension."
I kindly ask if there is a way to install it manually? Or in another way...
I hope to solve the problem. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks!

That is unusual Axel. I just tested it again to make sure it was working ok but I had no difficulties using that build of Extension Manager CS6 (see below).
The only way to get hold of the actions would be to email the producer for them and they can send them to you. Their email address is: [email protected] Please let us know if you hold of them ok.

  • Excel Cluster Connector for Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 R2 load error

    Hi,
I tried to load the 'Excel Cluster Connector for Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 R2' but get an error 'A runtime error occured during the loading of the COM Add-in'.
    My environment:
    Windows 2012 R12 Std edition
    HPC Pack 2012 R2
    Excel 2010 - 64 bits
I have generated a Fusion file (see below). Has someone an idea what went wrong? I already tried to copy 'Microsoft.Hpc.Excel.XllConnector.DLL' to 'C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office14' but that did not help.
    Thanks.

  • Microsoft Service Pack 2 - not all versions are equal; how to update to the latest one "safe

I posted this under another topic where it was relevant, but thought the instructions I got from Microsoft were useful (as was my experience in using them as I sent back a reply to them with the problems I encountered [none of which were particularly bad]):
One important point to note is that not all Windows XP SP2 upgrades are equal.
I had a different issue and spoke to Microsoft, who advised me to uninstall the version of SP2 I had and reinstall the newest version (the old version was about 70mb, the new one nearly 250mb).
Apparently the old SP2 had quite a few problems with it; I've found the new one to be "simply stress free" since installing...
The SP2 file name I installed (ie the newest at the time I did it) was "windowsxp-kb835935-sp2-enu".
Here's their instructions - I disagree with the way round that they suggested downloading the update (ie I would strongly advise downloading the update and having it sitting on your desktop before doing anything!!! - please see my feedback email to them that follows (you will note that I had problems connecting to the internet after uninstalling the earlier version; this, combined with the fact that I could barely read what was on the screen would have given me a major inconvenience had I not done this)!!! (and don't blame me if it goes horribly wrong - it's also worth double-checking that the version of SP2 the email links to is the most up to date. I've had a quick check myself, and it does indeed appear to still be the most up to date):
MICROSOFT'S EMAIL (make sure you also read my reply below):
MESSAGE:****************************************** ****************************This is an email from Microsoft about your support incident. When replying to this address: + It helps us if you do not include the original message + Please keep the case number (SRxxxx) in the subject lineThank youMicrosoft Product Support Services ******************* The message from Microsoft follows ****************Hi Gregory,Firstly uninstall SP2 by going to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and then reinstall it in a clean boot.. Click Start >> Run >> In the run dialog box type msconfig and then click ok 2. Put a dot in selecti've startup 3. Uncheck all of the check boxes that become available except Process System.ini file and Load system services 4. Go to the Services tab along the top, click Hide all Microsoft Services 5. Then disable any remaining services 6. Click apply and then close 7. Finally select yes, this will start in a clean boot. 8. Then go to (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en) and download and install Service Pack 29. To return your PC to normal, open the System Configuration Utility, click "Normal Startup", click OK and restart. Then restart your computer and try accessing updates againPlease let me know the results of these methods, particularly if there were any steps that you were unable to complete successfully.
    MY REPLY:
HiI successfully carried out the installation on Saturday.A few minor problems ensued (the second one may have cause a novice user real problems! Certainly caused me some concern whilst working through it!). I had to reinstall ATI drivers from scratch (for Radeon 9800 Pro); this was however the only set of drivers that appeared to "detach" itself. The main problem here was that instead of using the usual standard VGA driver (which it does when I uninstall it once a month to install updated drivers), it used some other driver that made the screen very difficult to see (especially on blue backgrounds!). Running ATI's total uninstall program sorted this out however, and fortunately I had the last update package from ATI still on my system. After uninstalling and reinstalling there appeared to be no further video problems.2. After installing SP2 (and before installing above), whilst I was in the process of getting everything up and running (eg installing the security updates) the system randomly froze about 4 or 5 times; the only way to sort this out was to use the power button. I traced this problem to Windows changing my wireless networking settings so that it handled everything; I have a Netgear adaptor the software for which usually controls this (Netgear Smart Wizard). Basically the two were trying to do the same task and causing crashes; on switching Windows management off, things settled down (the Netgear driver did not need to be reinstalled).3. As a minor point, after the upgrade and installing all other updates, I noted that Microsoft Update was no longer running; I had to reinstall it from Windows Update and the messages I got whilst installing suggested that it was still partially installed but that there were problems with it. It now works.4. As a final minor point, I attach the Scan log from Registry Mechanic which I ran after everything was up and running; it fixed various problems within the registry. I note that the majority of errors are inconsequential, but note that a few do relate to the various Microsoft installs; maybe the installer program for SP2/ Media Player 0 need to sort these out in future releases? Don't think they're a real problem though! The instructions supplied worked fine; one thing I would suggest is that users are instructed to download the SP2 upgrade pack to their desktop prior to uninstalling the original SP2; I believe that my internet connection problems started after I had uninstalled the original SP2 which may have caused problems downloading the new SP2. It also ensures that the download is successful (eg if the site was down for maintenance); I was advised whilst uninstalling SP2 that about 20 programs/drivers would not work properly after the uninstall and so the immediate reinstall was vital! One thing that seemed to fix after reinstalling was a problem I was having installing Media Player 0; after installing it previously, every time I checked for updates on it the whole program would reinstall. Now however this has fixed. I will let you know if I encounter any further problems, but things all seem to be fine now, touch wood.....!
Hope this helps!Message Edited by gjc26 on 0-27-2006 02:50 AM

One small thing - I believe the reason why some of my drivers were messing up was because they were SP2 specific; the older drivers and the ones that were compatible with both SP and 2 were fine.
As soon as I did the reinstall, all of the drivers/programs that were not working, worked (aside from the ones that I mentioned in my attached email above).
So, if after uninstalling the old SP2 you are told that loads of drivers/programs will not work, fear not - most should fix themselves upon installing the new SP2.

Just a suggestion, but I don't let windows AUTOMATICALLY install anything. That's a bad idea IMHO. For example, I'm in no rush to install IE7 given I use firefox most of the time.
You might want to switch things so that windows notifies you that there are updates available but then waits for you to review things and decide what you really want -- that is, do a custom install.
Of course I was stupid and immediately upgraded to itunes 7 -- an action that I will forever regret. Oy.

apple most likely have no say in the matter, as O2 can and will manage their network as they see fit.
Yes they can, but IMO it should be transparent to prospective users before they sign up for the 3G service that this does happen, and may affect quality of x,y,z on the device.
Some people may not notice, but it renders many sites I use unusable over O2's 3G service eg photo sharing/digital photography sites, and sites whose primary content is the image which when compressed is not fit for purpose.
O2's line will be that compressing images over 3G reduces traffic.
What irritates me, is that I'm paying O2 for a quota of data - give me the option to bypass the proxy server, and if I use up my quota I have to buy more (you can top up prior to the original 30 day renewal date) or have no/throttled access.
of course this is not limited to just ipad and iphone, they do it over all 3G connections.
You can bypass the proxy server on many contract services from O2 but not on PAYG, and the 30 day rolling option is treated liek PAYG.
of course in your instance it depends how apple is sending the artwork, whether it comes across initially as a separate file and it is itunes that then embeds it during the "processing" part of the purchase.
Yes, if a download is actually several components, one of which is an image file, and these are put together like jigsaw pieces I can see how this would happen - it would seem logical to me just to download a single complete file, and extract the necessary metadata from that, but only Apple know how they're download model works.
3 network apparently does not compress images (if they do it's mild compared to the harsh compression on O2). Not sure about Orange, I know Vodafone has an option on my wi-fi dongle to enable/disable certain things like this.

  • Azure Websites suspended - why, and how do I reactivate it? Cannot submit tech support request

    Hello,
Our company has an Microsoft Action Pack subscription. I have an MSDN Subscription allocated to me. Through the MSDN Subscription, I have a monthly $70 Azure credit. I have been using this Azure credit to test Azure Websites.
I have noticed this month (March 2015) that two of my websites are showing "Suspended" in the portal.
I suspect this probably happened in January 2015 when we had a particularly busy testing month and I used up all my Azure credit for the month, however the current status leaves me puzzled:
    1. I can't find a specific record of when, or why, the websites were suspended. Can someone tell me how to discover this?
    2. If it was due to exhausting my monthly credit, why did they not become re-enabled the following month when my account went back into credit?
    3. How do I raise a tech support ticket against this subscription for this problem, or other problems I may have with Azure during my development and testing?
I have had various fruitless phone and email exchanges with Microsoft representatives, often suggesting I purchase technical support for this subscription in order to submit a ticket. As an MSDN subscriber, I shouldn't need to, according to this blog post
    from Microsoft:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mast/archive/2013/10/24/windows-azure-technical-support-for-msdn-technet-or-mpn-users-and-partners.aspx
However, the process described is not working for me, when it asks for my Contract ID and Access ID, it ignores it and redirects to the same screen without an error message.
As a software developer, it is still challenging to recommend Azure hosting to clients when services become suspended without warning or explanation, and technical support channels are unclear or broken.
    Any insight appreciated.
    Michael

    Hi Cristhian,
Thank you for re-enabling the websites. So, my immediate issue is resolved in that the websites are running again, but I do have a question about the root cause of this issue.
If I use up my monthly credit before the end of the month and the websites get suspended again, will I need to repeat this process to get them re-enabled, or would you expect them to automatically re-enable when my account is back in credit?
I'm still having trouble lodging a technical support request for Azure under my MSDN subscription, but I will include the detail in a reply email to your colleague Sudha.
    Thanks,
    Michael
