Microsoft Apps, Nokia E6

Microsoft apps just showed up in my software updater.
Has any other E6 user installed this?

A couple of immediate impressions:
First, that that installation went very smoothly. Second is that (before opening any of the apps) comparing available memory using PhoNetInfo showed that the amount of available RAM I have has increased from 118,244 kByte to 134,156 kByte (purely an observation).
Wrting in Word the lag was noticable at more than just a snail's pace, but the "large" writing space was good. I have set my phone's font sizes more or less in accordance with an article on the E6 by Steve Litchfield, which I would recommend to all. The doc I named and saved "wasn't there" when I wanted to send (it is a bit historic, like, writing in Word on a Nokia Symbian phone...
All the logins have passed over my head as I don't yet have my Office 2010 set up for online use at all, and I have no idea what Lync is...
Any good locations for startup guides, etc., anyone?

  • Problem with installing Microsoft Apps on Nokia e7

    Hey Guys
I have a nokia E7 with Belle update , previously I had the Microsoft apps installed on my phone and for some reasons I had to do a full format and restore of my phone. My phone restore was only SMS and contacts.
Then I tried installing the Microsoft apps again and after the installer file downloads , it ask me if it can download a 21 MB file , so I press yes and then it says " the connection was lost , canceling the installation "
I am sure my network connections are OK, all the other applications download and install perfectly and I have tried it over 3G and Wifi. To be sure I did factory reset and it did not work.
even when it creates an icon for smart installer , the same thing happens.
I have tried anything it reached my mind and did not work, do you guys have anything else that might work?

I have to say I did the hard reset with  *#7370# , and before that I had formatted the mass memory as well, so after all that  the phone was just like the first day I got it.
Have a horrid feeling that your formatting mass memory has achieved same result as "hard reset" especially if you can't access Nokia Store upon device. Nokia Care facility can re-install software completely including eMMC content which truly returns device to "Out of box" state.
Have you tried "Googling" for "Microsoft Apps 2.01 (5616)"?
You will need to install Pixi enablers first, if I remember it correctly.

  • Microsoft Apps for Nokia N8

Hi I got Nokia N8 (Product code 0599255, Software v: 111.030.0609 india). I have been tring for Microsoft apps for a long time but i still haven't got any update. Please halp.

Unfortunately, I use office 365, and it does not support OC, only the new clients can connect to that.
    El4rcangel wrote:
Beware, even when your company had OC and/or Lync, check with your network admin to see if they installed already infrastructure to support lync mobile. Otherwise you will have the client on the mobile but will not connect to the servers. OC Mobile still connects to both, OC servers and Lync because it goes over old SSL channels instead of new connection that uses Lync mobile as mandatory.

It'd be nice to get a hint... I'm the proud owner of an N8 and use Lync for my business... I'm really looking forward to getting this update!
Hope it comes out soon, been waiting for it since it was announced last year

  • Microsoft apps is not available in nokia suite.

    Hello,
I have a nokia C7. I did a soft reset by dialing *#7370#. Everything went smoothly with no problems.
Then I noticed it's missing microsoft office apps. I connected it to my PC and launched nokia suite but it didn't show up in the update section.
How can I get microsoft apps back on my phone?

Have you looked in Nokia Store? http://store.ovi.com/content/263699

  • Nokia N8 memory and Microsoft Apps

    Hi everyone,
I have a nokia N8, with its (c:/) 250M phone memory. I won't mention the little space problem on this phone (compared to 500M on C7 for example). But I just want to talk about the problem of Microsoft Apps monsterous volume on phone memory (taking more than 50M). Even worse, These apps CAN NOT be uninstalled. I tried from the menu list with a long press and I don't have the (delete) option. I tried from setting>installations>installed apps but microsoft apps don't even show there...
so this is just a little message for guys in Nokia, next time you force some update on phones (it wasn't optional for me, it came with Belle) keep in mind that the phone u manufactured has a very limited memory, or at least give people the option to delete what they dont need. I have now like 50M left on my phone memory and its performance is degrading more and more (repeated freezing especially when using nokia browser).
    thnx a lot

I saw this post, and away from the fact that this is a 3rd party solution (not nokia product), you can read the bottom of the solution page:
"Despite this fact some 8-10 MB of phone memory is consumed after installation of Microsoft Apps (may be due to modification of System files). And unfortunately this space is not recovered even after completely removing the Apps by the above method. The only way to get back that space is by formatting the phone or re-installing Belle via Nokia Suite."
I applied that and deleted the MS apps and gained nothing on my phone memory... apparently the damage is beyond my ability to repair it...
Hence my message for Nokia Guys, next time you make any updates, KEEP in mind that we dont have much memory left and the performance is going down cuz of this...

  • Email on Nokia 700 changed after Microsoft Apps. H...

After installing Microsoft Apps on Nokia 700 (111.030.0609) the standard email client changed look and feel. And it just refuses to open url links from html mail.
I removed Microsoft Apps, but old email client styling was not restored.
I made hard reset, but the client is the same.
Please, how can I get my old email client back? I don't like the new white background and changed buttons.
    Please, help me!

Maybe not possible to go back to old email unless Nokia provides any in Nokia store.
I have installed quick office pro and office word files are not opening!
Hope that Nokia and Microsoft release Office apps soon to read and edit office files.
Hope it also includes direct .txt editor too.

  • Microsoft Apps update not available for Nokia 701

From nokia conversations website, I could see that MIcrosoft Apps is available for Nokia 701 (http://conversations.nokia.com/2012/04/10/get-microsoft-office-for-symbian/) post Belle FP1 update. But I am not able to get that update. I am from India. My product code is 059J7M4 (This is a new code that I got after taking my mobile to Nokia care for software update).

    Hi jobymanuel,
If the Nokia care point staff has changed your product code in repair, they should have changed it back to the original before handing it back to you. In this case please visit the Care point and ask them to change the product code back to the original. If they have replaced enough parts, or the whole device, so that the product code has been changed as well, then it's just not available for your device yet.
    Hope this helped!

  • Message reader problems after Microsoft Apps insta...

My previous thread was delete due to forum rules infringment.
I describe here again my problem, hoping to have a solution and considering that the problem I faced was not my fault, but it happened after a Nokia official update downloaded via Ovi Suite.
On 15th of April I've installed the Microsoft Apps and after my C6-01 reboot I found that the application "message reader" does not work anymore (tapping on the blue icon in the homescreen had no effect).
The only way to use the message reader was going in the incoming SMS folder, select a message anoose "LISTEN" from the menu. In this way the reader works.
Some days ago someone in this forum suggested me to remove the configured mailbox and try; in this way the reader came back to life and worked again, but if I add a mailbox the problem come back and the reader is malfunctioning again. So the only way to have this application working is removing any mailbox from my C6-01.
Therefore, considering that this problem occurred after an official update from Nokia and not for an user's error, I would like that Nokia tell me how to solve this malfunction.
Thanks for your attention and forgive my poor english.

After the first time I installed Micro$oft App$ I did a deep reset pressing the four keys as described in a web site I've found. After this procedure my C6-01 rebooted without many applications, so I have connected it to Ovi Suite and restored the firmware. The result was a "brand new" and perfect phone, until the new installation of M$ Apps on 11th of April :-(
So we are three Nokia users with the same problem... and we will faithfully wait for a fix ;-)

  • Microsoft Apps

    Hi
Can anyone shed any light on what is happening with these apps promised for Q4 2011 ?

Nokia did say q4 2011 for the first part and early 2012 for the second. Now q4 2011 has passed and nothing, are these kinds of announcements some kind of con to increase sales ? Did Nokia know when they announced it that they could not deliver ?
this is the key sentence to it all.
The free updates, called Microsoft Apps, will require no additional infrastructure. The first updates will appear by the end of this year, with broad consumer availability arriving in early 2012.
And the part that is dealing with us as comsumers is the "with broad comsumer availability arriving in early 2012"
the only people that may have got any of these apps earlier was to be those with phones that had Belle preinstalled when purchased. Everyone else is not and was not getting it till early 2012. Essentially we are all comsumers so we all diffinitely fit the "broad comsumer" part. So no one lied, no one gave you false info.
Those lines were taken straight from the press release that was made on the Nokia developers website, so in other word the info that goes to app developers etc. Which was included in my post some months ago.
I know I am looking forward to these apps becoming available, not only will they be something that i will use, but I also think it will give Nokia a huge boost, with the potential for extra sales from business customers.
After all most of these apps like lync, onenote, powerpoint, document connection with links to sharepoint are all business related products, which for the majority of customers will not have any need for. Unless your workplace has these kinds of servers setup, with appropiate access for its users of course.
There really is only 2 apps, word and excel that a comsumer is likely to use on a regular basis. I happen to have access to the kind of servers required for the others apps which definitely helps me, but for most they will mean nothing to them, nor will they have any use for them. Unless you are in a position where you can have access to a microsoft communications server or lync server 2010 and to something like server 2008 that has sharepoint installed, then these apps are not even worth worrying about.

  • E7 and Microsoft Apps

I noticed that Nokia Suite is no longer listing Microsoft Apps as a 'Software Update'.
I did not install it when it first came up, as I do not think I need it.
Is this suite being phased out for the E7 since it is no longer listed as an update?

Hello.  Hopefully someone can help me with this question (sorry it's a bit of a long story).  I recently sent my E7 to be repaired and they had to flash it.  The returned phone is on Symbian Belle FP 1 (I think they call it FP1), no complaints  When I sent the phone to be repaired I was using the Office apps, in particular Word, but when they sent it back, Quickoffice was installed.  Which is fine since they had to flash the phone.
I recently downloaded the Office apps suite from the Nokia Store, in order to reinstall them, but none of the Office suite (Word, Excel) were installed.  I just tried to download it again, but this time it seems to download, but won't install.
Do I need to uninstall QuickOffice first?
If I do uninstall Quickoffice, but back up my phone first, will I be able to restore Quickoffice if I need to?
    Thanks.
