Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse Thumb Button

I'm the new owner of a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz that I just bought today. Along with it, I purchased the Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse which moves and operates beautifully. The only thing is that I can't figure out a way to program the thumb button. I've seen some complaints on the web from people from a few months back who were unable to resolve the issue. I was hoping someone here could shed some light for me.
Thanks for your thoughts and time.

I don't know what is happening with the forum but the images are not opening and I'm unable to edit my post, so I'm uploading them again:

    I bought a microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth with an adapter USB BlueTooth.
    I put the adapter and bluetooth connection works ok. I was able to communicate with my mobile phone.
    But not my new mouse. On another computer it works fine. On mine I can'y install the driver. When I search for mouse, on bluetooth devices, it is recognized, but when I open again bluetooth devices, it isn't show.
    The driver for TouchPad is overwrited with PS2 IntelliMouse ... and my mouse is not working.
    Can anybody help me?

    Hi
    Unfortunately, its not easy to say why it doesnt work.
    Does the other computer has a touchpad or a extra mouse driver?
    Maybe there are some conflicts with the touchpad driver. You can try to remove the touchpad driver (Alps Touch pad Driver) and then try to test the Microsoft Bluetooth mouse. Maybe after this procedure the mouse will work properly.

  • Get mouse thumb buttons to work with pcmanfm?

    I've always wanted pcmanfm to read my thumb buttons (button 8 and 9) correctly
    This is how I set it for applications such as firefox to read my button 8 and 9 correctly:
    In ~/.xbindkeysrc
    ## Mouse Thumb Button mapping
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text "\[XF86Back]""
    m:0x0 + b:8
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text "\[XF86Forward]""
    m:0x0 + b:9
    So that button8=back and button9=forward
    Any ideas? Maybe a little tweak in the source code?
    Edit::
    I scanned through the source codes and found some useful tips:
    Alt+Left=go back
    Alt+Right=go forward
    Alt+UP=go to parent
    Alt+Home=go ~
    Never known that. I think it'd be just as simple as these lines to add mouse button 8 or just keyboard "\[XF86Forward]" which is bound to button 8 to the source. But I'm no coder I don't know how. Too bad.
    BTW, I think I've posted to the wrong section. LOL

  • Logitech mouse thumb button doesn't work with Firefox upgrade

    After upgrading to the latest version of Firefox, my Logitech mouse works, but NOT the thumb button, (which I have configured to be a double click).

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000 with Leopard

    Hi All,
    First post here, so be gentle!!!
    I bought a MS bluetooth optical mouse 5000, after i saw MS were marketing the same mouse on their website for mac (exactly the same product as the windows version) in a diff box.
    I seem to have issues with the intellipoint software, as such that is doesnt know the mouse is connected.
    The mouse is paired, and works OK, but just as a 2 button mouse.
    If i plug in my Wireless MS mouse, there is an option to select the mouse model i have, and the machine knows the mouse is connected, but using the bluetooth mouse, none of these options are available.
    My leopard install is fully up to date with system updates, and am using latest intellipoint software
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

  • Microsoft bluetooth mouse 5000

    Has anyone tried this mouse on the Macbook Pro? I'm wondering how it compares with other mice and looking for a portable yet functional solution. I need something that allows 3 button functionality for use with Autodesk Maya but also works well with OS X Leopard. Currently the Mighty Mouse while functional doesn't really meet my needs and is not as ergonomic as I would like in a portable mouse.

    I haven't tried that one but the first thing I bought to expand the function of my new MacBook pro was a Logitech VX Nano Mouse.
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/3271&cl=us,en
    I thoroughly endorse it and there are Mac specific downloadable drivers which are great (I quit using USB Overdrive in favor of the Logitech drivers.
    I purchased mine from PC Connection as it had a $30 rebate offer which cut the final price in half.

    I should add that I also have used a Microsoft Wireless Optical 3000 which I also liked a great deal but the Logitech has a tiny receiver which goes into a USB port and stays there even in tight fitting sleeves, five programmable buttons as well as a tilting scroll wheel with a very nice action and there's a little embedded On/Off switch on the bottom of the mouse to save battery life. It is an extremely well engineered mouse.

  • Unable to connect to bluetoothe mouse (microsoft notebook mouse 5000) because of missing passcode

     whn i pair my mouse i need a passcode. i do not have the box of the mouse becuase it is really old, how do i connect without a psscode or what is the passcode?

    See Microsoft KB952818
    A Microsoft Bluetooth mouse does not require a passkey to connect to the computer.
    If you are prompted for a passkey, select No passkey. If you do not get the
    No Passkey option, try to enter 0000 as a passkey by using your keyboard.

  • Bluetooth Mouse and Thinkpad T520 not working together at all

    Hi All (first post),
    System:
    Lenovo T520
    Windows 7
    Microsoft Bluetooth mouse
    Problem: Not working at all, or working only sporadically.
    History: Laptop is a bit over year old (warranty ends in June 2015 IIRC). The sales clerk recommended a bluetooth mouse, so I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth 5000. After the initial pairing difficulties were resolved, they worked swimmingly for about a year. Then I started more and more frequently having to re-pair them (remove device, let Windows find it again, pair them,...). As the mouse had taken a bit of beating, I bought another one a week ago. Didn't really help. The first time I asked Win7 to find the device, it couldn't. The Bluetooth radio was on, and the mouse had a fresh set of batteries, and all the other braindead suggestions of Win7 were eliminated. The bluetooth radio was working, because it detected the neighbors daughter's smartphone through a concrete wall, but not the mouse. I kept pressing the button in the bottom of the mouse that presumably makes it broadcast "I'm here".
    I moved to another room. This time detection and pairing up the device went fine. But after I had switched the laptop and the mouse off, and rebooted - nothing happened. I had to go through the remove/add device cycle again. Moving to a different room again. At first nothing. Then Windows finds the device, but gives the error code 0x800070015 (or something like that, not sure about the number of zeros), and fails to configure it.
    Any idea what is going on? Why is this becoming progressively worse?
    Elsewhere in this forum it was suggested that I should disallow windows to power off USB root hubs. I tried that but it had no effect.
    Regards,
    Jyrki

    Sorry. The error code was 0x80004005. This is the code I get from Add Device ->, when I try to enter 0000 as the paring code (suggested by the mouse start guide. If I try to pari them without a code, Control Panel first indicates that the piece of Hardware was added ok, but it before I get any use out of the mouse, the freshly added pic of the mouse disappears. The red/green light on the mouse never stops blinking.

  • U410 Bluetooth mouse problem

    Hi
    I have a brand new U410 running Windows 6.
    I also have a brand new Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 mouse.
    I am not able to connect the two.
    I have tried "Add device" in Settings. I only get a "device not found".
    I have tried updating the bluetooth driver (Device Manager) but windows says that the driver is the latest.
    The Microsoft Mouse/Keyboard software is installed.
    Any ideas what to try next.

    Hi
    Welcome To Lenovo Community
    We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,
     Press and hold the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse. If your device has a battery indication light, it will blink and alternate between red and green to indicate that the device is discoverable.
    On the computer, open the Bluetooth software. The Bluetooth software is typically located in Control Panel. For more information about opening the Bluetooth software, see the "How to open the Bluetooth software" section.
    Click the Devices tab, and then click Add.
    Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
    A Microsoft Bluetooth mouse does not require a passkey to connect to the computer. If you are prompted for a passkey, select No passkey. If you do not get the No Passkey option, try to enter 0000 as a passkey by using your keyboard.

  • MacBook Pro Bluetooth Mouse Issue - Possible Bug??

    I recently purchased the new MacBook Pro and I have a weird issue with both the bluetooth Mighty Mouse and another Microsoft bluetooth mouse.
    So first, I purchased the mighty mouse thinking it would work great with my new MacBook, however, after pairing it and turning up the scrolling to the highest setting it was still way to slow for movement across the screen requiring me to pick up the mouse and move it to get all the way across.
    I had also installed Windows 7 on Parallels and was able to install my Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000 on that with a dongle and it moved super fast just like I liked it. I had to use the dongle because for some reason Parallels didn't show the internal bluetooth. So I thought I would try using my Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000 on the Mac side so I downloaded the Intellipoint 6.3 software that is made for mac and installed it on the machine then paired up my MS mouse. I then went in and set the settings to their highest settings for scrolling and once again I had the same issue as with the Mighty Mouse. Way too slow.
    So then I took it to one of the Geek Squad guys at Best Buy in my area to see if he could figure it out and he was stumped as well. However, after playing with it a bit we discovered that if you went into the native keyboard/mouse settings in the system preferences folder and dragged the scrolling setting to it's lowest setting and then back to the highest setting the Microsoft Mouse would move super fast like it is supposed to. I got all excited, however, the problem is that as soon as you closed that dialog box it goes back to slow again. Weirdest thing ever.
    So I have no idea what would cause that and would love some feedback from you all. I think it is a bug because in my opinion the Might Mouse should work better than anything else. Any thoughts anyone?

    This problem can be caused because of the mouse pad. Try using a dark color one with no reflective glare. Sometimes the light bounces.

  • What's the best, most reliable, Bluetooth mouse?

    Hello! My new 13" Aluminum MacBook is suppose to be delivered today and I am wanting to purchase the best bluetooth mouse to use with it. My research seems to show the mighty mouse has serious design flaws. Any recommendations>

    I use both a MSI and (ironically) a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse with my MacBook. Both "just work" as expected including scroll wheels etc.

  • Since update Bluetooth mouse doesn't detect

    Updated last night, with new security update & may have also updated bluetooth firmware and since then my Microsoft bluetooth mouse doesn't detect, it worked perfectly before. Bluetooth detects phone so it is working. Are there any fixes to this?

    Tried everything. Even tried detect new device. Mouse is definately working on other computer.
    Tried Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at Startup. At startup bluetooth icon briefly shows connected for a few seconds, then nothing.
    Seems a lot of people on forum have lost mouse/keyboard connectivity since updating last night.
    Would appreciate any help. Trackpad is def no comparison for photoshop etc.

  • Bluetooth mouse gets slow laggy.

    Hi there.
    I have a couple Lenovos T60p's. They both have internal bluethoot. I have 2 different bluetooth mice. One is Microsoft model and the other is Logitechs. The problem I have is that if I use eather of the mice with the internal bluetooth the cursor slows down or lags. This happens with both mice and only with the internal bluetooth. If I use an USB bluetooth adapter both mice work fine. Does anyone has had this problem before. I have updated all drivers on both laptops and both do the same.

    I guess the receiver in your laptop is somehow not picking up your signal very well. I will look into it for you, i will try my Microsoft bluetooth mouse and see the different settings.

  • [Solved] Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse - Scrolling

    Hi All,
    I have been able to pair my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 with my new installation of Arch.
    All buttons work, and mouse movement is fine. However. I have been unable to get the scroll to work.
    I have been trying to achieve this using hotplugging method. I have saved an fdi file at /etc/hal/fdi/policy/btmouse.fdi
    <deviceinfo version="0.2">
      <device>
      <match key="info.capabilities" contains="input.mouse">
    #   <match key="info.product" contains="macintosh">
          <merge key="input.x11_options.EmulateWheel" type="string">true</merge>
    #      <merge key="input.x11_options.EmulateWheelButton" type="string">2</merge>
    #      <merge key="input.x11_options.EmulateWheelTimeout" type="string">200</me$
          <merge key="input.x11_options.XAxisMapping" type="string">6 7</merge>
          <merge key="input.x11_options.YAxisMapping" type="string">4 5</merge>
    #     <merge key="input.x11_options.protocol" type="string">auto</merge>
        </match>
    #   </match>
      </device>
    </deviceinfo>
    I have looked through the forums and wiki and have been able to find little information regarding the scroll function of the mouse in hotplugging and what options correlate.
    The only info i have found is here --> http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Log … rble_Mouse.
    Could someone explain where i am going wrong...???

    Hi,
    I bought this mouse a few days ago, and it works fine, even scrolling. However, I don't use an xorg.conf file at all. Have you tried to get rid of it (take a backup of course first ) and see what happens? Also, although I tampered the fdi file for the synaptics touchpad, I didn't bother at all for the bluetooth mouse. Still, everything works fine.
