Microsoft DHCP Server - Option 43 Setup

I have the scope configured properly as far as the 241 Option with Option 43 and the VCI in it for both the 1130 and 1200 series AP's. However, how do you make this work if your subnet has both 1200 and 1130's in it? Basically if I have two 241 options set, the 1130 comes in first allowing hte 1130's to associate, but not the 1200's. If I remove the 1130 Option 241, the 1200's associate. Basically, how do I get both to work from the scope correctly?
Thanks,
Raun

Hi Raun,
Here is some additional info;
This section contains a DHCP Option 43 configuration example on a Windows 2003 Enterprise DHCP server for use with lightweight access points. For other DHCP server implementations, consult the DHCP server documentation for configuring DHCP Option 43. In Option 43, you should use the IP address of the controller management interface.
****Note DHCP Option 43 is limited to one access point type per DHCP pool. You must configure a separate DHCP pool for each access point type.****
From this doc;

    Many thanks

    Hi Foreverduy,
    Before you run SQL Server 2008 express setup, make sure that you have installed Windows installer 4.5 and.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 manually. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.100).aspx. Moreover, please turn off all the third-party softwares which could prohibit the installation process.
    According to your error message, the issue could be due to that your account has no rights to install SQL Server, or the corruption on the media.
    Firstly, please ensure that your account has admin rights. Also make sure that you right-click the setup.exe and choose “Run as administrator” to complete the installation.
    Secondly, please check if "msdbdata.mdf" file exists at d:\8268cd7b247d294de359c9\x86\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_msi\PFiles\SqlServr\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Binn\Template. If it exists, please make sure that your account has read permission to the extracted
    folder.
    However, if the file doesn't exist in the extraction, the media could be corrupt. Please download the
    media
    again and check if the issue still occurs.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Setup error: Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed

    Hi,
    Having this annoying error trying to install SQL Server 2014 (RTM). I saw it's been asked several times... But each post seems a different cause and no definitive answer...
    I'm not doing an upgrade, so no "sa account" issue.
    Tried different media. Even three different distributions: trial, Standard and Enterprise.
    Tried disabling Microsoft antivirus/firewall.
    Of course tried restarting, updating, installing, uninstalling, repairing, etc., etc.
    I noticed the users folders under C:\Users weren't created. (Maybe something related to permissions?) After playing around, I managed for the users to be created and the service started. Though I couldn't log in.

    You probably should address this question directly to Apple as you are not likely to get any answer here. This could be a bug in how DHCP options are handled.

  • Configure DHCP Server options for Internet Sharing?

    Good morning, all.
    I have a Sprint (Sierra 595U) AirCard internet connection, which I'm sharing over my AirPort (using OS X's built-in Internet Sharing) to several Windows clients in my office. I see that when Sharing is enabled, en1 takes on the address 10.0.2.1 by default, as well as the role of default gateway/router and DHCP server for the Windows clients.
    My question is: Can I configure the IP addresses and DHCP options for Internet Sharing to another address/mask scheme?
    Just like I changed my home wireless network away from the default 192.168.1.0/24 for security reasons, I'd like to do the same here.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Some paranoia is good.
    Yes, of course security paranoia can be cultured. like yogurt
    I googled.
    This might help:
    http://www.aleph0.com/computing/macosx/dhcp-setup/
    but from what I just read, changing away from the default net & mask might be putzy.Some other discussions for you:

    or you might see something here that helps.
    Sorry not to be more specific. Hard to tell if you already googled for yourself.
    I'll let someone smarter than I am take a look for you, here.

  • IPV6 clients cannot ping each other while getting IP from DHCP server running in windows 2008

    I have two windows 7 clients and a windows 2008 server connected to a switch with static IP 172:16:5::1/64.
    DHCP server is configured with static IP 172:16:5::20/64
    when i statically assign IP to windows 7 clients like 172:16:5::21 & ::22, they can ping each other. if they get ip from DHCP server, they cannot ping each other.
    if i configure the gateway (172:16:5::1) in the clients manually, they can ping each other.
    is there any way we can make dhcp server to give gateway to the clients along with IP?

    From what I have gathered:
    IPv6 won't route because the DHCP server is setup in 'stateless' mode and the switches do not support IPv6. (
    "But if your routers are not IPv6 supported (yet), you can
    reconfigure DHCPv6 to Disable Stateless mode, and that'll issue IPv6 addresses that
    will eliminate the Ping problem." -
    http://www.networkworld.com/article/2228461/microsoft-subnet/setting-up-dhcpv6-to-dynamically-issue-ipv6-addresses-in-a-network.html)
    So you must change to 'disable stateless' mode. Which the only way I can THINK to do this is to uninstall DHCP and reinstall DHCP and select 'disable stateless' during the installation (which I haven't confirmed). (In
    case, “Disable DHCPv6 stateless mode for this server” option was selected duringrole installation" -
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/teamdhcp/archive/2009/03/03/dhcpv6-understanding-of-address-configuration-in-automatic-mode-and-installation-of-dhcpv6-server.aspx)
    zz.. but my understanding of DHCP is fragmented, please take what I find with a grain of salt. I am off to reinstall DHCP :] .. fun.

    So started setting up Exchange 2013 and ran into a random issue regarding the OAB. Resolved by deleting/recreating the OAB in Exchange 2010.
    My issue now is setup will not complete, just tells me an "Incomplete Installation Detected" starts to resume the installation.   Upon "next" I receive just a hanging screen of "Setup Progress" which goes no where.

    Hi,
    Let's try the following resolutions:
    1. Check if the discovery SearchMailbox is present on Exchange 2010 when you run the Exchange 2013 Install.
    2. Reinstall your Exchange 2013 server:
    Open ADSIEDIT, CN=Configuration, DC=your domain ->CN=Services ->CN=Microsoft Exchange ->CN=First Organization ->CN=Administrative Groups ->Cn=Exchange Administrative Group ->CN=Servers ->CN=Server name
    After remove the exchange server, please reinstall your exchange server to test the result.
    Thanks,

  • Installation Error: Could not find SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\120 registry key.

    Dear Expert,
    I setup SharePoint for 3 tiers, WFE, APP + DB Server.
    I installed SQL 2014 reporting service Add-in on APP Server and already enable sql reporting service in DB Server. DB Server can do report server.
    I follow the step : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219068(v=sql.120).aspx  but I stuck in no.2, I cannot start the services, in picture below.
    I checked the SSRS provision is disabled not online
    Please help.

    Hi MasterBird,
    According to your description, when you register and start the Reporting Services SharePoint Service, the error: Could not find SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\120 registry key is thrown out.
    As this
    article say, if you use three-computer deployment, the first computer hosts an instance of a SharePoint product. The Reporting Services Add-in is installed on this computer. The second computer hosts SQL Server Reporting Services and the third computer
    hosts an instance of the Database Engine.
    Regarding the error message, it could cause by the Reporting Services – SharePoint feature and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products haven’t been installed. Please refer to articles:
    SSRS SharePoint 2013 Create Service Application error: Could not find SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\110 registry key Error
    Installing SSRS 2012 in SharePoint Mode on SP2010
    If issue persists, please check the error detailed information in ULS logs, and check Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Setup Bootstrap\Log to see if any error occurred during set up. For more information, please refer to this article:
    Troubleshoot a Reporting Services Installation.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Unable to install microsoft sql server management studio 2008 express

    When i install management studio 2008 express, throws an error stating that "SQL server 2008 Setup reqiures Microsoft .NET framework from http:.... and then rerun setup.
    Can any body help me in this, and also i have installed .NET framework 3.5.
    Thanks.

    Hi sivak_tamilan,
    According to your description, we need to verify if you install and enable the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, it is a prerequisite for SQL Server 2008 standalone instance.
    In the setup, the SP-bit must be set to “1″, you can do as follows:
    Open the registry editor and browse to the key,
    Then locate the value SP, double-click it and change it from zero to”1”.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v3.5
    There is a similar issue about this error, you can review the following article.
    http://www.undermyhat.org/blog/2011/03/resolved-microsoft-sql-server-2008-setup-requires-microsoft-net-framework-3-5-sp1-to-be-installed/
    In addition, if you install SQL Server on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8, you must make sure that you fulfill the minimum requirements. For example, you must apply SQL Server 2008 Service Pack
    3 or a later update.

  • SF300-24 DHCP Server not responding (worked once but not again)

    Tried to get the new firmware DHCP Server option working but after turning it off and back on it doesn't seem to give any addresses anymore.
    Anyone else having troubles or success actually using the SF300 v1.4 DHCP Server?
    I even tried factory default reset but no luck.
    When I did have it working everything was good but the older Cisco Meraki would not get an IP address so I had to revert to an older DHCP server.  When I tried again today by turning the older server off and the SF300 back on, none of the Windows machines that previously would work would get an address.

  • DHCP Setup across multiple VLANs on RV325 - DHCP Server only working on VLAN 1

    I have multiple VLAN subnets defined on my RV325 - when I try and utilize a DHCP Server on each VLAN, it only seems to be issuing IP Addresses to clients on VLAN ID 1.  When I first set this up months ago, I thought I had tested it providing IP Addresses via the other subnets.  Now that I am trying to do so, it isn't working "as expected".  Example - I am using VLAN 25 as the GuestWireless subnet utilizing a separate 802.11n WAP that is set to Bridge connections to the IP Address of the VLAN interface.  Devices are able to connect to the WAP, but end up with a self-assigned IP Address 169.x.x.x address.  There has to be an easy fix to this, but I seem to be "stuck" figuring out what it is…pointers/redirects appreciated.  Thanks!

    Thanks - I've already reviewed that information before I posted.  I've been working with DHCP since the mid-90's, so I'm comfortable with the settings/configuration I need to leverage to make this work via other means using various Network-based OSes.
    I'm wondering if there are other options in configuring this device that can impact the ability to dynamically serve IP addresses on a VLAN/subnet-by-VLAN/subnet basis.
    As I did more testing, I discovered when I reserved an IP Address via the IP & MAC Binding option within the DHCP Settings, those devices would receive their static reservations and work as expected, so the problem seems to be leveraging the DHCP Pool for devices connecting to VLANs other that VLAN 1.
    Any ideas as to why the DHCP Pool's are "non-functioning" for the other VLANs is greatly appreciated...
    Each VLAN is setup with a separate DHCP Server configuration as shown below:
    VLAN ID = 1 (Default, Inter VLAN Routing = Enabled, LAN1-6 = Untagged, LAN7=Tagged, LAN8=Excluded, LAN9-14 Untagged)
    Device IP Address = 172.16.xxx.1
    Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
    DHCP Mode = DHCP Server
    Remote DHCP Server = 0.0.0.0
    Client Lease Time = 1440 min

    WINS Server = 0.0.0.0
    Correctly serving IP Addresses via DHCP (both static and dynamic) to Wired devices & Wireless devices connecting through WAP (set to Bridge)
    VLAN ID = 25 (GuestWireless, Inter VLAN Routing = Disabled, LAN1-LAN7 = Excluded, LAN8 = Untagged, LAN9-14 = Excluded)
    Device IP Address = 172.16.yyy.1
    Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0

    NOT serving dynamic IP Addresses via DHCP to Wired devices & Wireless devices connecting through WAP (set to Bridge)
    Static DHCP Reservations setup via IP & MAC Binding settings DO WORK in terms of providing the assigned static IP Address to the client.  Inbound/Outbound traffic to Internet works for devices with Static DHCP Reservations.
    VLAN ID = 100 (Voice, Inter VLAN Routing = Disabled, LAN1-6 Excluded, LAN7 = Untagged, LAN8-14 = Excluded)
    Device IP Address = 192.168.zzz.1

    Remote DHCP Server = 0.0.0.0

  • Does option 43 matter ? WLC5508 ver 7.2 using internal DHCP server

    I am using a WLC 5508 and its internal DHCP server. I cant find anywhere I can setup option 43. However, the access points are connected in just fine. Do I need to worry about setting up a seperate DHCP server to get option 43 setup properly ?
    Thank you.

    Sorry I didnt make my question clear.
    I am using a WLC 5508 and its internal DHCP server. I cant find anywhere I can setup option 43.
    When I connect a CAPWAPP Access Point to the network, it receives IP address from the WLC 5508 DHCP service just fine. It shows up in the access points list and users can connect to it no problem.
    Do I need to worry about setting up a seperate DHCP server to get option 43 setup properly ?

  • Dhcp server setup

    I am trying to setup a dhcp server.
    I am using the following dhcp.conf:
    option domain-name-servers 192.168.2.1;
    default-lease-time 86400;
    max-lease-time 604800;
    authoritative;
    subnet 192.168.2.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
    range 192.168.2.5 192.168.2.55;
    filename "pxelinux.0";        # the PXELinux boot agent
    option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0;
    option broadcast-address 192.168.2.255;
    option routers 192.168.2.1;
    when I try to start the server with "/etc/rc.d/dhcpd start"
    I get this:
    Starting dhcpd.............                                       [FAIL]
    in dmesg I see this:
    dhcpd: no ipv6 routers found
    are they linked?  is dhcpd failing because of no ipv6 routers?  or am I missing some configuration?

    forget about IPv6, it is not a major problem
    1 Do you need your server for pxe booting? I don't know much about it...
    2 What is the name of the dhcp server you're using there? Are you sure that the config file is called dhcp.conf? ( for the dhcp package it has to be dhcpd.conf)
    3 Is your IP address range correct? I mean are you on the same network as your future clients and you share the same IP range? If your server is not on the same network it will not work...
    I've tried your config with my machines, it works fine - after I've modified the IP range for my network ( 192.168.1.x)
