Microsoft download of the WinHelp engine fails
I notice that the download of the x86 winhelp engine no
longer works. It is needed to run WinHelp under Vista.
I have been using the link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6EBCFAD9-D3F5-4365-8070-334CD175D 4BB&displaylang=en
It was fine a couple of weeks ago.
I get the message "The update does not apply to your system"
I have been looking for winhelp.exe on my system, hoping I
would be able to copy it, but it is not to be found.
Has anyone raised this issue with Microsoft yet?
I just followed your link from a Vista machine that has the
viewer (winhelp32.exe) installed and it started the Genuine
Advantage script rather than telling me the update was not
applicable. Maybe that comes later in the script after it has
checked that you have a genuine copy of Vista.
Has your client tried again as that link is the correct one
on a 32 bit system? Could your client have got the 64 bit system as
suggested by Rick? I would have thought that if they attempted to
run the HLP file they would have got the same message I did when I
ran such a file and the link would go to the correct version of
winhelp engine.

This seems to be a permission issue.
Makesure account used in the application pool is a member of the BizTalk Isolated Host Users group.
Also its working considering either make the ASPNET user account a member of your BizTalk Isolated Host Users group to make sure it has access to the biztalk databases (or change the asp.net services to run under a different account, which would need
to be done from the framework's core .config files)

The Messaging Engine failed to register the adapter for "WCF-BasicHttp"
Hi,
I have a strange problem with BizTalk 2013 on Windows 2012.
It is with exposing an orchestration or schema as a web service, I always get the error "The Messaging Engine failed to register the adapter for 'WCF-BasicHttp' "
This happens also am sure I did the followings:
-Enabled the receive location
-Have separate pool for each web service
-The pool user is part of the Isolated Group & IIS_Users group
-The user has access to BizTalk databases
I tried the procedure on different environment, and it works just fine, what is causing this on this environment really I don't know!!
Is there something I should do on the IIS?I just resolved it, the issue was with the server name exceeding 15 characters; which resulted in mismatch in credentials, since Windows will only take the first 15 characters.
So, I shortened the server name to 15 characters, and everything now works fine.
Thanks again, -
Hi All,
We have two BizTalk nodes, from both nodes we are getting this error from today morning, nothings has changed from application end.
Error : The Messaging Engine failed to retrieve the configuration from the database. Details:"c0002a1f".
Warning : Cannot perform encryption or decryption because the secret is not available from the master secret server. See the event log for related errors.
Can you please suggest step where need to check.
I don't have any knowledge where the master secret file saved during installation.
Regards
SumanMost of the time, master secret server is not backup frequency. Mostly its is done during the time when the servers have been setup. If anything changed between the time the master secret has been backed up and now, then you don't have the correct version
of master secret file backed up. This is why its is always a good practice to backup the master secret periodically and also try restoring in any of the test server to verify the backed up file is correct and also to make us conformable in restore
process.
You have one option now, try restoring with the file what you have (4 years old). If the backed version is not the correct version, then only option is to reconfigure the BizTalk.
MSDN: How to Restore the Master Secret
You cannot backup the master secret file now as ii could have been corrupted. That the reason we're suggesting to restore the corrupted master secret file. For your future reference, following the steps as suggested in this article to take backup of master
secret.

SimplePass V5.1 doesn't work! True Suite engine fails to initialize properly
I can no longer get SimplePass V5.1 to load. I get an error message that the "TrueSuite engine failed to initialize properly."
I have already renamed IEBHO.DLL so that it no longer loads if it ever did but that hasn't helped. Why isn't TrueSuite engine initializing?
HPdv6-6150 laptop running Windows 7 sp1 Home Premium. Simple Pass used to work properly and I want to use it again.Hi Jupiter,
Not sure why you are using TrueSuite or SimplePass 5.1
Can you clarify your exact / full SimplePass version?
According to your HP Website
Software & Driver Downloads - HP Pavilion dv6-6150us Entertainment Notebook PC
You have the option of running:
Driver: Validity Sensor V4.3.205.0
Software: HP SimplePass 5.3.1.7
NOTE: There is a newer AuthenTec version (5.4.0.620 at writing) at the AuthenTec website, too, that will run with the Validity V4.3.205.0 Driver. I can send details if you get to that point.
Just so you know:
Renaming .dll files rarely helps...
Are you trying running an old version of the HP version of SimplePass from HP?
Say... 5.1.0.495 ??
That old version won't run with anything except and old Validity Driver - and the 5.1.x software is badly out of date, too.
If you can explain a bit, it would help,
OR
it may be easy enough to fix just by updating what you have to what is on your HP website:
Driver FIRST
Software Second
I hope this helps!
Good Luck!

Please help.
Thanks in advanceKannanMN's issue above looks like the dgraph hadn't started due to port 15002 already being in use (probably another Endeca instance).
Usually this error is due to the dgraph not being available for some reason - try connecting to the dgraph via the reference application on the workbench server (http://your-workbench-host-name:8006/endeca_jspref) and see if you can connect, if not check that the dgraph is up and running by looking in the dgraph logs (.\logs\dgraphs\).

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Setup error: Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed
Hi,
Having this annoying error trying to install SQL Server 2014 (RTM). I saw it's been asked several times... But each post seems a different cause and no definitive answer...
I'm not doing an upgrade, so no "sa account" issue.
Tried different media. Even three different distributions: trial, Standard and Enterprise.
Tried disabling Microsoft antivirus/firewall.
Of course tried restarting, updating, installing, uninstalling, repairing, etc., etc.
I noticed the users folders under C:\Users weren't created. (Maybe something related to permissions?) After playing around, I managed for the users to be created and the service started. Though I couldn't log in.Summary for last "repair" attempt:

This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as
Server Configuration Manager(Local)
From here I folllowed the steps ---[I cannt insert link/image :-(]
SQL 2008/R2 setup fails with "Wait on the database engine recovery handle failed"
If I right clicked on SQL Server Service, there is no option to change the account.
Hello,
Thanks for your patience, did you tried stesp mentioned in below article
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqljourney/archive/2012/03/16/sql-2008-r2-setup-fails-with-quot-wait-on-the-database-engine-recovery-handle-failed-quot.aspx
To resolve it, follow these steps:-
When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
been created. Check the Services console.
If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.
Use this link to change sql server service account
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
You should be able to log in to the server now.
Hope this helps someone.
Please revert if it helps or even if it does not

Failed to connect to the applications engine.....
Hi, Using PS Elements 8.0 on a PC. When trying to edit now keep getting message 'failed to connect to the applications engine'. Any ideas how to fix this? Really appreciate some help.
Thanks
GordonHi Ashley,
You can use Network Monitor and run it on the remote DP at the time ConfigMgr is attempting to install the DP role to capture more information on what may be causing the issue.
Here is the download link to NetMon -

And here are some how to's on using NetMon just in case:

On Friday, 9/17 @ 7 am, after deselecting Windows 2003 in products, I ran Server Cleanup Wizard (as well as sqlcmd -I -i"WsusDBMaintenance.sql" -S "np:\\.\pipe\MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE\sql\query"), and 0 bytes were freed which I thought
odd. I then selected Windows Server 2012 R2 and Office 2013 since we're going to be using those.
After this, on 9/19 @ 7:30am, the server had the message: Event 364 Content file download failed. Reason: There is not enough space on the disk. Source File: /d/msdownload/update/software/secu/2014/04/coreservermui-it-it_ebb7e1e8d487b90ffd719f06122a3db947b3f949.cab
Destination File: e:\WSUS\WsusContent\49\EBB7E1E8D487B90FFD719F06122A3DB947B3F949.cab.
At some time during the day on 9/19, our SAN admin increased the volume (all server's volumes are on a SAN) from the SAN end, and I extended it in Disk Mngmt on the WSUS server. I went home for the weekend
I came back today (9/22), saw I had gotten the "the server is failing to download some updates. Event ID 10032" on Saturday 9/20 @ 1:30am. I checked the volume \WSUScontent is on (the volume we extended) and it has
17GB free. So I assume space should not still be an issue.
The same 10032 error had occurred on 9/19, at 1:30 pm, but I assume it was before my colleague and I bumped up the disk space. But why it occurred again the next day I'm not sure.
However, since the 10032 error on 9/20 @ 1:30am, it has not reoccured, and no yellow or red event messages. So possibly all is well now. Could it have been that WSUS was being sluggish to recognize the increased disk space, even though Windows
itself recognized it?Thanks Lawrence, I went through the steps you instruct on (which I did not know about, so I greatly appreciate that!), and freed up over 30GB of space.
Outstanding! :-)
But your steps don't really address deleting all (solely) 2003 updates.
Correct. First, because you cannot DELETE updates, unless they are expired or old revisions, and use the Server Cleanup Wizard to do that.
Second, because the article was about removing *unneeded* updates. It does not consider the scenario where a product category is being retired
When I go to my "2003" update view, sorting by Any Except Declined, and Status Any, I still see tons of 2003 ones, some solely for it, others that apply to 2003 and other OSs. I want to leave the latter, but delete the ones solely for
2003. Not just superseded ones, but ALL that are solely for 2003.
You cannot delete updates. You can DECLINE updates, if that's what you want to do.
So let's talk a minute about these updates that might be applicable to operating systems other than Windows Server 2003. Let's be practical about the other operating systems listed. If you look closely, I suspect you will discover that those "other
operating systems" are either Windows XP or Windows 2000, but nothing else. Do updates for Windows XP or Windows 2000 really matter to you? I suspect not.
The reason I highly suspect this is because the practice of building packages targeted at multiple operating systems was terminated when Windows Vista was released (actually I think it happened with the release of WSUS v3, but this is just a matter of trivia,
the relevant point is that it's not done anymore, and has not been done for many years).
Ergo, I know for a fact, that NONE of the updates applicable for Windows Server 2003, will be applicable for any newer operating system. Ergo, it probably doesn't matter at all, so just SelectAll -> Decline if that's what you want to do.

The last update failed on
my window 7 home prermium pc, resulting in me having to try it manually download and install,
this also failed leaving my I tunes not working, I tried restore back to a
safer date, but every time it tried to update it failed. eventually it told me
to delete and reinstall, this fails due to the apple mobile device service
failing to start, and asking me if I have sufficient privileges to start system
service, I have tried all suggestions on iTunes page, ie delete everything to
do with apple, and start as administrator, nothing works, help pleaseI too have tried the latest iTunes (12.1.1.4) in Win7. I did a search for latent drivers as you noted but found none. I am glad it worked for you - I'm still no-joy at this point. I'm able to install AMDS over and over again, without issue - it just doesn't start then iTunes launch fails with Error 7. I have to manually remove it.
I am able to connect my iPhone via USB cable and access my photo storage on the phone. I am just not able to install iTunes anymore. I have attempted resolution to this issue for almost two months now. Until that time, I was content with what was installed. It was only when the proverbial update box appeared that I attempted to 'update' my iTunes. WHAT A MISTAKE putting blind faith into an Apple request to update. I SUGGEST NOT TO UPDATE YOUR ITUNES IF IT IS RUNNING PROPERLY!
I realize now, once again I might add, my reliance on software provided by others. It's like anything else, I shouldn't rely on just one method for anything. Time to search for a more pleasant alternative than Apple. Truly, when it worked, it was good at its job, but now that I am wasting time I am looking seriously at upgrading to another type of smartphone and media management software. Way too much trouble for anything as simple as this should be. I wonder, is this a result of another feud with Microsoft? -
The deployment notification failed to reach the Engine
While publishing my bpm project in ProcAdmin of enterprise, the processes within the project are unavailable to the engine.
I get the following error/warning
_'The deployment notification failed to reach the Engine. Please check your Engine's log and restart it. '_
However the deployment status of the project is 'Completely Deployed'
I am attaching the engine error stack trace towards the bottom.
Looks like exception is 'ProcessClassNotAvailableException'
I am very sure the process is proper(and its simple-just one activity with a log statement).
My project consumes few webservices. if i remove the webservices, the project is deployed fine.
Another interesting fact is the same project with webservices deploys and runs fine in the studio.
Please help me with some solution/insight.
thanks,
