Microsoft Excahnge connection status in Outlook

Hi,
I tried to search but unable to find so if any one knows how can I get detail of every column of "Microsoft Exchange Connection Status" when we check from Outlook connection status
Thanks
SMF

Hi,
I find some significant columns in Outlook connection status, for your reference:
SMTP Address: this column indicates the account that is associated with a given connection.
Proxy Server: This indicates which proxy server Outlook is connecting to.
Server name: it specifies the actual server name which is outlook connect to.
Status: you can use this column to review information about the current connections Outlook has established to the Exchange server or not.
Protocol: it specifies which protocol is used for this connection.
Authn: it indicates the autentication type the connection is actually using.
Protocol: it specifies which protocol is used for this connection.
Req/Fail: it notice that how many requests were made and how many failed for that particular connection.
Avg Resp: it specified the average amount of time it took to respond to those requests.
Sess type: it specifies whether Outlook is connected to the Exchange mailbox in Cached Exchange Mode or online mode.

    Hi,
I have set up Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Everything is working fine except I am unable to configure Exchange account in Outlook 2010 or any other version. It says
"The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
Error screenshot is attached. Even, I am able to configure exchange active sync on my adroid and ipad which is working perfect. Please let me know if any body have any idea about it. Searched many blog and forum but still now solution till now.
    Thanks in advance

    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
Can you ping your Exchange server? It would hlep us isolate the fault from network releated issue.
Is there a trusted certificate installed on Exchange 2013 server?
If you run the test of RPC over HTTP in
https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/, is there any error returned?

  • The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete - Cant add Outlook accounts

Hi have recently started getting the following error message when setting up new accounts with Outlook 2007:
The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Outlook then prompts me to enter the username and password, i do so and get message again. This happens on Windows XP Professional and Vista, i cannot setup any accounts for new machines.
Points to note are that OWA works fine, and previous users who are already setup work fine also. It seems to be limited to setting up new Outlook 2007 accounts.
It can find the username fine. It comes up with green ticks underr the Online Search for your server settings:
    Establish Network connection
Search for [email protected] server settings
Long on to server ---------- then it fails with a big red cross at this point
Recently i did add a second mail server to the network but it was not configured to talk to the other main mail server which was handling all the functions of mail box, CAS, hub transport. I had installed all the same roles on the second server with a view to move it across and retire the old server, the second machine is a different machine name from the main mail server. In summay my servers are:
    svr001              Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 domain controller
    mail                 Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 non-domain controller with exchange 2007 SP1
    mail001            Windows 2008 Enterprise x64 non-domain controller with exchange 2007 SP1
The main box "mail" has been fine until i recently introduced this new server "mail001" into the network.
I am really stuck now and would really appreciate any pointers or steps to debug the above.
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    The FIX IT here
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319206 works, but only for a user who's already logged in (if you just run the fix it program and do nothing else). To make it work for all users you'll need to manually edit the registry as it says in the article.
To force Outlook to use a pre-defined global catalog server, use the following steps to set the following special registry parameter to point to the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). Doing this over-rides any setting in the MAPI profile.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit.exe, and then click
    OK.
Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider
Note You may have to create the registry path.
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
    Value name: DS Server
    Data type: REG_SZ (string)
Value data: FQDN of the global catalog server
This allowed me to roll out a bunch of laptops and not have to worry about running the Fix It for each user.
update: Sysprep seemed to remove fix. Each time a new user logged into a newly imaged laptop (on domain) same error about Outlook 2007 cannot connect to Exchange. Have tried just about everything, but all I seem to be able to do is run this stupid
Fix it each time. Luckily I don't have 1000 machines to setup because then I'd be screwed.

  • Outlook connection status window explained

(this may be an already discussed topic, in that case feel free to answer with a hyperlink to another technet forum topic)
    Dear all,
I am looking for a technet blog post, that explains all the tiny little details of the "Connection status" window, that is accessible if I CTRL+right click on the Outlook 2010 tray bar. I would like to receive some very professional and at
least Level 300 explanation of all the possible information visible in this troubleshooting window. Unfortunately there are hundreds of hits for this search term, I find it nearly impossible to find that single article that is right for me.
    Richard
PS: I think my question wasnt posted in the best topic, I would like to ask an admin to move it into the proper category under Exchange server

    Servername: pretty obvious :)
    Type:
Directory => what is the server providding the answer to DSQUERY command / rpc proxy for authentification (therefore it is normal to see your exchange server when using outlook anywhere if you would use a direct mapi connection the "real"
DC/GC name would show). This one is normally there twice , once for GC once for DC.
Mail => you mailbox store server
Public folder => if you still have a public folder store, that will identify what is the PF you are connected to.
Interface: the local network interface used for the connection so either your wired connection or the wireless card
Conn: HTTPS or MAPI, if you are using Exchange 2013 you will always see HTTPS. for older version, MAPI can only be on the local network.
Status: current status of the connection type, you will see that changing if you start outlook /rpcdiag from at home.
req/fail: number of current request/number of current request failed
Avg Resp: delay of response (in ms) can be usefull to troubleshoot for long request (with exmon) or network bottleneck
    Authn: NTLM, KERBEROS, certificate etc...
from the complet article about the change of outlook connectivity, here is also the explanation to the field that were not in previous outlook version (http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/05/09/outlook-connectivity-with-mapi-over-http.aspx):
    Field
    Value
    Protocol
HTTP (v/s RPC/HTTP for Outlook Anywhere)
    Proxy Server
    Empty
    Server name
Actual server name (v/s GUID for Outlook Anywhere connections)
I hope that answer your question, however nowadays aside to check the current connection status of the client, you will get more usefull troubleshooting info from the exchange logs.

  • Outlook 2013 connection status 'Exchange Directory' disconnected randomly for random users (Exchange 2013)

We have been encountering an issue where upon random Outlook 2013 users are unable to open the address book, or add a room to a meeting (using 'Add Rooms...' button), and an error message is displayed that the server is unavailable. Mail flow and
    everything else functions normally.
If I look at the Outlook connection status of an affected user, I will see that all connections are established except for the 'Exchange Directory' connections which show disconnected. If I click the 'Reconnect' button the Exchange Directory connections
are re-established, and the user can now access the address book/meeting rooms as normal.
Are there any ideas what I would check, logs I could look at, events or anything I can check on the server side that might lead me to an answer what could cause this?

Outlook 2013 gets that data from Exchange 2013 by connecting to Exchange Web Services.  That's where you should look.

  • Does Outlook "Connection Status" Show Rollup Updates on Exchange 2010 SP3

    Hi all,
I've looked for this answer everywhere, and can't seem to find it. When you CTRL right-click on the Outlook taskbar icon, and select "Connection Status", one of the pieces of information displayed is the Version number of the connected Exchange
    server.
Does this build number include installed rollup updates, or does it show only the installed Service Pack. For example, if it's an Exchange 2010 SP3 server with RU6 installed, will I see 14.3.195.1
or just 14.3.123.4 (the SP3 build number)? I'm trying to use this information to troubleshoot
client issues, and it'd be helpful to quickly see if certain updates are installed on the Exchange server or not.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Just as what mentioned above, connection status displays the Exchange version number.
Start Outlook and connect to the Exchange server if this isn’t done automatically already.
Hold CTRL while clicking on the Outlook icon in the Notification Area
(located in the right bottom area near the time; expand the Notification Area first if the Outlook icon does not show).
From the context menu that pops-up choose: Connection Status…
Scroll the horizontal scrollbar to the right to see the Version column.
(if the dialog is empty, then you are not connected to Exchange)
Here you’ll see a version number.

  • Exchange 2010 all mail clients with internal cached and internal non-cached mode users having connection status issues, login prompt -- external is fine either way

    Hello,
I'm seeing an issue that started this past Monday with no recent change to our environment.
External Outlook Anywhere users and Mobile users, OWA users are unaffected.
Internal Users are affected when using Outlook of any version, 2010 or 2013.
-Internal Users normally log into their workstation with their ad credentials, domain joined machines. Outlook opens without credentials prompting ideally.
    1 . Using Cached Mode:
    a. Login Prompts, slowness - Since Monday, users are getting prompted to login. The prompt goes away after logging in at startup. It is also causing high CPU
    on the workstations.
    b. Free/Busy, Out of Office doesn't work. I can, however complete auto-setup for a new user, so autodiscover is not completely down for internal users.
    c. Checking Connection Status shows connecting status on highlighted entry below without ever establishing connection (just goes away).
The outlook icon in the system tray says "Outlook is requesting data from the server":
    2. Using Non-cached mode
    a. No Login Prompt at startup, business as usual
    b. Free/Busy, Out of Office works fine. Autodiscover is fine.
    c. Checking Connection Status shows normal except, it has "casarray URL, then status is referral" it seams to flicker this constantly then go away intermittently.
    d. Main issue in non-cached mode is, sometimes a user will log into windows, open outlook and it will not open and says "server is unavailable. Retry, work offline, or cancel" I can try re-opening, same message.
Only after logging out of windows, logging back in, I can get back into outlook. This is not every time, or consistent with specific users, but random.
    3. Lync Pop up  for credentials often, though entering the password.
URLs are correct. Autodiscover, EWS, etc.
Already tried bypassing our loadmaster load balancer with host files on clients. same issue regardless of casarray node.
Not sure what is going on.
    Josh

You have a hybrid configuration with Office 365, right?  You didn't provide this valuable piece of information.
In Exchange Online PowerShell run this command:
    Get-OrganizationConfig | FL PublicFoldersEnabled
If the value is "Remote" then users with Exchange Online mailboxes are looking to on-premises public folders.  Be sure that you have legacy pubic folder interoperability properly configured.

  • Network Connectivity Status Indicator for IPv6 works wrong in Windows 7 and Windows 8

    Hi Folks,
I am working on testing Network Connectivity Status Indicator for IPv6 in Windows 7 and 8.
Waht is "Network Connectivity Status Indicator(NCSI)" you can refer to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126135%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
I found that even if Network Connectivity Status Indicator detect IPv6 connection to http://ipv6.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt failed.
Windows IE still use IPv6 to connect to website first, rather than stop using IPv6 and to use IPv4.
It will cause IPv6 fallback to IPv4 problem, that's 21 secs and 7 secs delay for fallback in Windows 7 and 8.
Does anyone suffer the same problem?
Or someone know how this works?
    Thanks!

    Hi Roger_Wang0214,
"Windows IE still use IPv6 to connect to website first, rather than stop using IPv6 and to use IPv4."
By default Windows prefers IPv6 over IPv4,we can manually configure the IPv4 prefer over IPv6 if it has result in any troubles.
Here is a link for reference :
Resolving Internet connectivity issues after World IPv6 Launch (June 6, 2012)
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2533454
"The "Prefer IPv4 over IPv6" Fix it solution will configure your computer to prefer IPv4, instead of IPv6. By default, Windows prefers IPv6 over IPv4. If you are having problems using IPv6 to connect to some websites, this may resolve the
    problem."
For a Windows 7 machine ,we can try the following fixit tool to configure IPv4 prefer over IPv6 .For a Windows 8.1 machine ,we can configure it referring to the manual part .
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\DisabledComponents
If the DisabledComponents entry is unavailable, we can create it (DWORD (32-bit) Value). Then set a value with "0x20"to prefer IPv4 over IPv6 by changing entries in the prefix policy table.

I am  fairly new in SAP MII , and i have been trying to create new data server  using MSSQL2008 which is on my laptop(local) and i access MII  in web based form.  the sap MII version is  12.1.5(Build99)
    this what i did
1.I have   deployed   JDBC 3.0 driver   on system management   on SAP MII
2.When  creating   the Data  server   I have done the following   check  below (screen dump)
    Connector     IDBC
    ConnectorID
    ConnectorType     SQL
    DatePrefix     '
    DateSuffix     '
    DaysRetention     7
    Description     mii
    Enabled     T
    InitCommand
    InternalDateFormat     yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss
    JDBCDriver     com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    MaxRetryCount     5

checked the port , which is fine    and the firewall   exception changed it to   except  SQL SERVER PORT  1433
but i still  get the   connection status error:    tried  locating   the logviewer  to see what the problem is cant retrieve anything
Kindly  guide me in the right path  for im runnin out of ideas. I  installed the  JDBC driver  on the laptop  and made CLASSPATH  to point to that folder  STILL no luck.
and  with  regards to viewing the LOGviewer I truely  have no IDea how  to do that , I have tried to check on the forum   nothing helped.

    Tigo,
    You can try this,
Install SQL Server Management Studio on MII server (where MII is installed, should already have one if you have installed NW on SQL DB, if not, install one) and then try to access DB installed on your laptop from there using the IP address (not local host).
If it works fine then atleast one thing can be confirmed that your DB is accessible outside of your laptop (means no TCP/IP or port or firewall issues).
Also, When you unzip the Driver exe file (i mean install), usually you will find 2 jar files,
    1) sqljdbc.jar
    2) sqljdbc4.jar
Use of these jar files purely depends on the Java installed on the system. refer to this link on more details:
    [Choosing Right JAR File|http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378422.aspx]
Let us know how it goes

  • MAPI_E_LOGON_FAILED(80040111) when testing Microsoft Exchange Connectivity

    Hi everybody
I could really use some help on Microsoft Exchange Connectivity Architecture based on CDO. The documentation I have followed can be found here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/c9/b9182b06af714c89d7d39c76af22a1/frameset.htm.
Generally I have followed the documentation as much as possible, though the following two pieces of information might be the root cause to my agony:
    1) The key HKEY_USERS.DefaultSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion Windows Messaging SubsystemProfiles from http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/5df14ef76130b4e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm cannot be found on the computer where I have my IIS installed (the IIS is installed on the portal server which resides in the same domain as the exchange server). How come this key is not present and what does it represent?
    2) The version of CDO.dll on the IIS (portal server) is 1.2.1s (6.5.7233.48) and is installed together with Outlook 2003. The version of CDO.dll on the Exchange Server is 1.2.1 (6.5.7651.61) and is installed together with Exchange 2003 SP2. This might also be a issue?
I have read that there are potential problems with the 1.2.1s in a certain note, but the errors described in that note did not correspond to the one I'm getting.
The portal is running NW04s SPS 10.
When I use the test-tool (SAPPXchTest.exe) I get the following error in the log:
The information store could not be opened. [MAPI 1.0 - ]
6/4/2007 9:58:10 AM Closing logging for user [email protected]
Any (fast) help on this issue will be rewarded.
    Kind regards,
    Martin Søgaard

    Hi Philipp
Yes, I did manage to solve this problem.
It was because the Exhange Server should be set up as the domain controller as well. This setup raises a lot of security issues though, which Im consulting SAP about at the moment.
    Kind regards,
    Martin Søgaard

  • Checking the connection Status

Is anyone using the cocoaDev NetSocket? I try difficulty in checking the connection status using NetSocket...i open the socket and the connection, but when i'm perfmorming some action that waits for a server response, there's no automatic timeout that control if the connection is up or down after many seconds waited by the same action...

    We are using Outlook 2010
I have removed the entry in the LAB using ADSIEdit following this procedure:

This has resolved the issue there. Why are you opposed to me running this in Production?

Since you are using Outlook2010, why not remove the PF distribution on that 2007 OAB as well?

I am troubleshooting our new 2013 Exchange server because Outlook client cannot connect but OWA is working fine. The 2 new 2013 Exchange server as DAG were installed to co-exist with Exchange 2007.
I am trying to download and install Microsoft Exchange connectivity analysis tool BUT always got an error "Error attempting to install the Microsoft Exchange connectivity analysis tool"  and in the log the error is "URLDownloadToCacheFile
    failed with HRESULT '-2146697208'.
I am installing it in Windows 8 64b, Please help as we are troubleshooting the new Exchange without any success so far...If there is an full download link, please provide.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Teyob,
Did you try to use different browser to check if the issue persist?
This issue was occurred on browser. If you IE with this issue, we should check to clear the option "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode" from your Internet Explorer(IE) Tools--Internet Options--- Advanced--Security.
If the setup URL of the ClickOnce application being installed is redirected from a non-secure to a secure site (or vice-versa), the installation would fail due to the Internet Explorer warning. Therefore, please make sure to remove the redirection completely
and point to the actual setup URL.
If the issue persists, we could perform Windows Update to install updates and then run the Desktop configuration again.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

  • Connection Status: not Responding SCVMM '08

I just installed SCVMM 2008 on a Windows 2008 x64 server with Hyper-V RC0 Enabled. From the console on the server it says "Needs Attention" and when I double click on it, it says
    Connection Status: Not Responding
    Agent Version: Up to Date
    Virtualization Status: Unknown
    Virtualization Service Version: Up-to-Date
The firewall is turned on for public network only, and I can connect to manage that box with the hyper-v mmc snap-in for Vista. Why is SCVMM not connecting to it? I rebooted the server after install and still can't get it to work correctly. It sees my VMs on the server but I can't connect to them either.

  • Outlook2013 connection status "Exchange Directory" keep being "disconnected".

I migrated my exchange 2010 to 2013, then move several mailbox to 2013 mailboxdatabase.
Mail flow works fine, just I noticed that outlook 2013 client got this connection status issue only.
outlook 2010 is totally fine. Any idea?

    Hi,
Does the issue happen to all users in Exchange 2013? I noticed that this issue only happens to Outlook 2013 users. Please verify whether the issue happens to all Outlook 2013 users but not Outlook 2010 users.
Please click Send/Receive > Send/Receive Groups > Download Address Book, then check whether there is any error logs if it is failed. In Outlook Connection Status, please click Reconnect to have a try.

  • Motion crashes on open: AFP Connection Status window appears

I am one of the overly enthusiastic fools who went to the Intel Mac Pro too early--before even Apple's FCP Studio ran reliably on it. (And apparently it doesn't even now.)
But I digress before I begin. Here's my challenge:
Motion--and only Motion--crashes every time I try to open it.
Before it ultimately crashes, this window appears:
    AFP Connection Status
    Looking up "G4MDD"
G4MDD refers to my previous computer, a G4MDD, which I ran networked to the Mac Pro until recently because I had to constantly default back to it to finish projects when the Intel Mac Pro misbehaved inexplicably.
I've followed all of Apples suggestions posted on "Troubleshooting Basics." I've trashed preferences AND reinstalled Motion 2. It's still looking for the G4, I know not why.
From the error report I've sent to Apple time and again, I take the following to be the problem:
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000
    SUGGESTIONS?...PLEASE?
