Microsoft excel or word can open in Mac

Can Microsoft excel or word open in Mac

Microsoft Office 2008 and 2011 will open in Mac OS X 10.7 and newer; older Mac OS X versions will also run Office 2004 and earlier versions designed for the Mac.

'Normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software do not work on the iPad (iOS), they are different operating systems. You can only install apps from the iTunes App Store on your computer or the App Store app directly on your iPad.
Numbers (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/numbers/id361304891?mt=8) and Pages (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pages/id361309726?mt=8) are two options, as are third-party apps such as Documents To Go :

Are you using the Office for Mac 2011 version, as you need to do?  The Office for Mac 2004 is Not at all compatible with Mountain Lion, and the 2008 version has been noted to have some problems running with ML.
    Hope this helps

  • Do new Imacs come with Microsoft Excel and Word for Mac installed?

Or do I have to order it in the options when I go to get a new Imac?  I use Excel and Word spreadsheets.  Thanks.

    No.
You would have to purchase these separately through either the Mac App Store,  Microsoft or through a third party software sales vendor.
OR you can purchase through the Mac App Store iWork suite of apps that includes Pages (word processor/page layout app) Numbers ( spreadsheet app) and Keynote ( slide and audio/video presentation software).

  • Microsoft excel or word

    Hi All
Have recently brought the 3g curve and want  use an excel/word software app to keep track of money etc. Does any one recommend a piece of software or should i down load microsoft excel etc.
    Cheers

    Hi
You might that the pre-installed Documents-To-Go will meet your requriments.
These are located in the Applications folder. However, you cannot create a document with the software but you can view and edit it. So email from computer to one of your email accounts linked to the BB, attaching a suitable document.
Open the email and save it. Open the attachment and hit menu and Edit Using Documents to go.
You will have to play about with it for a while, but it avoids having to pay for an app, and, with the best will in the world, no one is going to use a tiny screen to create a complex spreadsheet.

  • Working with EXCEL and WORD files on a Mac Pro

    Hello,
I have a lot of EXCEL and WORD files and the compatibility with NUMBERS and PAGES is not really satisfying. Is there a EXCEL and WORD app which runs without surprises on a Mac Pro?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Microsoft sells its own Microsoft Office version for OS X > http://www.microsoft.com/mac Microsoft Office for Mac will be the application that will give you less headaches when using Office documents, so I recommend it.
Another application you should consider is LibreOffice, which is free > http://www.libreoffice.org

  • Microsoft Excel and Word keeps showing an error message and shutting down

I keep trying to open Microsoft Excel and if I try and open an existing document or create a new one I get a message "Microsoft Excel has detected a problem". After a moment I then get the message "Microsoft Excel has stopped working - A problem
has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I have tried the usual, shut down and start again, uninstalled and installed office again, been on the control panel in programs
and clicked on changes. its been through the Microsoft update 4 times now and it still isn't working.
    Any ideas please.

    Hi
Did the issue still occur when you close your antivirus software?
Try opening word or excel in safe mode.
Click Win+R, type winword /safe or
    excel /safe.
    Go to file>options>add-ins and select
    COM add-ins, uncheck the add-ins.
If it doesn’t work, we recommend you check the issue in clean-boot,
For detailed information about clean-boot, refer to the following link:

Well, how about delete the entire Microsoft 2008 folder and get it back from the "Time Mchine" backup if you got one. Did you ever back-up your system?
It doesn't have to be a recent backyp, any backup from TM or CarbonCopyClone will do the trick. Or copy the entire directory folder of MS 2008 on a flush stick and move it/copy it on a OS X 10.5 machine into the Applications folder like your were before you got the 10.6 upgrade and see if works there. If you don't have the Microsoft 2008 disk or some old backyps or some 10.5 system running you are out of luck. There is no way to reinstall without any of these.

  • Why do files converted to Word not open on Mac?

I am a new user, and have just converted a PDF to Word, on Mac (using Open Office). The message I'm getting says the file may be corrupt, OO tries to fix but fails, and I get Error message.
The original is a scan of a Greek text. Is the problem with the language?

We need to know what the original document was (Word, Excel...etc). Also, how are you saving to pdf?

You're in the Adobe Acrobat Reader forum which is a free product. Would you accept a check or money order for your refund?

How can I access files from a flash drive that were previously saved using a Windows computer? When I attempt to open the file on MacBook Pro, it is asking to "convert file to"; none of the options I choose work. I also have Microsoft Office (with Word) installed on the Mac as well.

Format the external drive as FAT32 or ExFAT. Both computers will then be able to read and write to it.

i can't open microsoft excel of word suddenly. message keeps coming that microsoft quit unexpectedly. pls help

Is the version of excel from Office 2004 or older?
That will not run beyond 10.6.8, because it contains PowerPC code, no longer supported in 10.7 and later.

  • Connect to APEX database using VBA+ADO code in Microsoft Excel & Word?

I am looking at APEX as a potential replacement for a growing reporting/analysis system. As yet I have not found a clear answer on an important question.
The current system is a shared database and a collection of Microsoft Excel and Word templates. Each template contains underlying VBA code that establishes a direct connection to the database via OLE DB (i.e. ADODB objects in VBA via the OLE DB Provider for JET).
Each template’s underlying VBA code executes stored procedures or queries as required, the results of which are returned as Recordset objects and rendered to the Excel worksheet or Word document. Similarly, in some cases, data entered into an Excel worksheet by a user can be submitted back to the database at the click of a button, again via Recordset objects.
Now most of our templates could easily be ported to APEX. However, there is a strong preference that some of our templates continue to exist and maintain current functionality. So we have a requirement that Excel and Word can seamlessly and directly interact with an APEX database.
Long question short – is there a way to establish a connection and retrieve/insert data from an APEX database using OLE DB (ADODB) in VBA, as described above? I understand that APEX sits ‘on top’ of a real Oracle database, and I know Oracle provides an OLE DB Provider (OraOLEDB) for Oracle databases. Would OraOLEDB do the trick, or is it not as simple as that?
Many thanks for your insights on this,
    Michal

Apex gets installed as a separate schema in an existing database.
So it will not in any way interfere with your existing setup. You can continue to connect directly to the database from your spreadsheets, call stored procedures from VBA/ADO, etc.
