Microsoft Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013

My colleagues computer suddenly crashed yesterday and it wouldn't restart without a system restore.
Now when we try to open up Outlook it says that you must connect to Microsoft Exchange at least once before you can usse your Outlook Data file (.ost)
Also The PC has lost the trust relationship on the domain
We have exchange 2010 and the servers OS is Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2011 and the Client PC is running off of Windows 8.
Can you please help me resolve this issue?
kind regards
Steve Bradshaw
[email protected]

It might be possible that the MAPI key (which enables Outlook to synchronize with Exchange) has been deleted due to the System crash. So, in order to establish the connection, you need to Reconnect the OST file to the original MAPI profile and then reconnect
then MAPI profile to Exchange Server.
If the above method fails to resolve the issue, then the best option for you would be to take the help of any professional OST to PST Conversion Software, which will help you to Extract data from your OST file and convert it to PST file which you can import
back to your Outlook to establish the connection with Exchange Server again.

presentation for more info.

  • Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013

please read my question and comments carefully before replying.
We just upgraded to Outlook 2013 x64bit and exchange 2010. there is only one exchange server with all updates and fixes installed, and Outlook is up-to-date as well.
User A sends a meeting request with tentative appointment to user B
User B accepts the appointment and it shows on his calendar as tentative
User A changes the appointment from tentative to out of the office or busy and sends update to user B
User B receives the update and click on No Response Required
User B's calendar does NOT change from tentative to out of the office or busy.......
we tried OWA as well as tried this in cached mode and online mode and made no difference.
you can see that communiation is real time between the two clients and exchange because as a test, I changed the words and client machine immediately updated but the free/busy/out of the office status never changes unless you change the time of the appointment.
    Please let me know
    David

    Hi David,
    It is by design.
The Free/Busy status is a private property that can be changed but
only with a full update. A full update is practically a new meeting invitation to the same event, replacing the old properties with the new ones. Full updates are sent when one or more of the following properties are changed:
    Start Date/Time
    End Date/Time
    Recurrence
If you only send a update about free/busy status, it is an informational update instead of a full update. Thus, the free/busy status of the meeting is unchanged. For more information about meeting updates, we can refer to the following blog:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2010 / Office Pro 2013 - Contact Issues

    Good Morning Everyone.
We are running MS Exchange 2010 and have recently upgraded all our clients to MS Office 2013 Pro from Office 2007.
We've had problems with people being able to access previously accessible share folders etc. but we've managed to resolve them. What we are having problems with are peoples personal contacts....
Within Outlook If we click "New Email", then we click "To", choose address book and select "Contacts" (Personal contacts) we receive the error:
"The Address list cannot be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from
the outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help"
The unusual thing is, if we go to the people tabs at the bottom (Mail, Calender, People etc") Then we can access the address book without issue?
Any help would be appreciated, this problem is on every single client...
    Regards
    Steve Skingle

    Hi,
Please make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book in Outlook. We can check this by right-clicking on the personal contact folder, select
Properties, then Outlook Address Book tab.
Check if the “Show this folder as an email Address Book” option is ticked. If not, tick it and restart Outlook to check the result.
Please let me know the result.

    Hi,
    Please try below steps:
    - Remove all organizational forms libraries (subfolders under EFORMS Registry) if they are not needed, and re-create the Outlook profile of affected users.
    - Alternatively, if the organizational forms libraries are needed, remove the replica from Exchange 2010 and re-add it

  • Lync 2010 and Outlook 2013 - not talking!

I have problemns with Lync 2010 with Outlook 2013 under Windows 8.
Conversation History is not being saved.
    All the patches are installed.
When I click on "show more in Outlook" it complains the accounts are not the same. I have two exchange accounts configured within the one Outlook profile. I never had this issue under Outlook 2010.
    ERROR:
The email address used in your default Outlook profile is different from the sign-in address used in Lync 2010.
Change your default Outlook profile to match the sign-in address you are using in Lync, and then sign out and sign back in to Lync.
My default account is the same as my Lync sign-in name.
    I have tried everything.

    Mate,
There is no issue on conversation history save option, when I use Outlook 2010.
    The issue only to Outlook 2013 with Lync 2010?  Two observations;
=> Save IM in outlook ( greyed out ) - Lync 2010 client
=> When I check Lync config information - MAPI is not installed  - Lync 2010 client
    Could you advice.

  • HT5567 Iphones and Ipads with IOS 6.0.x and later getting Calendar invitation even so that Delegate access is enable on exchange 2010 and outlook 2010

I'm Running Exchange 2010 with outlook 2010 in my environment, since Apple OS went from 5.x to 6.x I been having issues where the Iphones and Ipads running OS version 6.x or higher do not acknowledge that the exchange user has a calendar delegate and are automatically accepting the invitations, not allowing the Delegate to acknowledge first, If this test is run on any Apple devices running OS Version 5.x but less than 6.x the issue is not there.. any one that may have encounter with this situation got a fix or a possible resolution on it.. Thanks

Ok, well after looking at everything, I decided that the best solution was to uninstall an App called "Tango", as it seemed to 'mess' with contacts directly, and I only use it with 1 person, so switching back to Skype (plus Tango sends/shares lots of personal
info, location, and keeps changing it's access rights and doing stuff when you're not looking - I'm sure some people love it, but for me, it's a belts and braces get rid of anything that might have 'contributed' to this issue).
Found my un-sync'd contacts and emailed them to myself, then deleted the Exchange active-sync account. Checked what was left, found google had managed to sync some stuff, cleared that up too!
RE-created the account on the S4 - only need the email and password, as it finds the server and sets itself up automatically (I guess it did that previously).
All is now working, after about 5mins the data had been re-populated and it sync's new changes instantly. But I will monitor from time to time to check that new contacts or added numbers etc do sync. My best guess is that some index or other data became corrupt.
Just one of those things (or had I been tango'd?!).
On the Truncating Notes Issue, the S4 (realised that it's running Android 4.3) does chop a note but only if edited, at 1001 chrs. However unlike others, it seems to only truncate the note if you actually edit the note field, so adding a phone number or removing
one, leaves the note field intact!
To summaries other devices behaviour with the Contact record Notes Field:
    - iPhone 3GS (on iOS 6.1.3) truncates at 32,777 chrs (so pretty big notes!)
    - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8020 - Android 4.1.1) chops at about 1,000chrs, even if just adding a phone number to the contact - so not even editing the notes field
    - HTC One X (4.2.2) at 5,122 chrs (when editing any part of the contact)
I hope this might help someone in the future if they have similar problems ...
    cheers

  • Upgraded to Exchange 2010 now outlook 2013 can't connect externally

Outlook 2013 used to connect to my exchange server via our TMG before upgrading to 2010. At first the clients were changed back to NTLM all the time but I fixed that and we now see basic with SSL. Now we get repeated logon.
I have used rpc connectivity analyser and it tells me that my (self issued) certificate doesn't chain properly - but the signing certificate is loaded on the client (by Enterprise CA policy) and looking at the mail server certificate in the certificate manger
reports the certificate to be good and correctly shows the chain (so is this a problem in the anyalyzer or does outlook constrcut its certificate chain using a different code library than say IE?).
Oddly Windows 8.1's mail cient works flawlessly when outlook 2013 goes into loops?
    Any suggestions?
    ICHC

    Hi ICHC,
Just as Ed said, we should create new rule on TMG during the upgrading.

  • Microsoft Account/s and Outlook 2013

    Please advise on this scenario:
John's email is hosted on a Smarter Mail Server [email protected]
John buys a new Windows 8.1 laptop with Office 365 installed and signs into his Microsoft account using his email address
    [email protected]
He gets an Outlook.com account [email protected]
He sets up Outlook to connect to his Smarter Mail server via IMAP
He adds his old Outlook 2010 PST data file archives to Outlook 2013
John's Windows Phone was set up by the phone shop last year with a different Microsoft account
[email protected] where all his contacts are stored
He adds an Exchange Active Sync account to Outlook 2013 to get his contacts from
    [email protected]
This is causing all sorts of problems. OST file errors. Incompatibility with Outlook 2010 PST files. Non-syncing of contacts etc.
How can John get all his mail, contacts and apps into one account across all devices - preferably his main Microsoft account
    [email protected]
He does not want emails labelled "Sent on behalf of"

Per your post, this should be the Topology, right?
In general, this operation is normal and wouldn't cause the issue you list. However, we still occur the following issue:
    1. OST file errors.
    2. Incompatibility with Outlook 2010 PST files.
    3. Non-syncing of contacts etc
For one, IMAP and EAS profile also use OST file as the data file. The problem appear since you add the Windows Live account into your profile, so I guess the root of issue is caused by Windows Live associated OST.
    For two, please view this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839109/en-us
Another thread may also help you:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2003-outlook/outlookpst-is-not-compatible-with-this-version-of/719c8cf1-a699-4ee4-ae63-8993489bc422
For three, IMAP doesn't support contact sync. The problem is also related to Windows live account, I would like to know if you receive the email through live account smootly, check if there is any sync issue log in the
    Sync Issue folder
At last, you may totally create a new profile to check the result of Problem 1&3.

  • Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 Offline Address Book Download

    Hi All,
Strange problem that I can't seem to get to the bottom of.
On a couple of users, about 10/100, can't seem to download the Offline Address Book. When they do a manual Download Address Book through Send/Receive Group, the progress window will remain at about 5% and the status will show "Copying Offline Address Book
Template File". If I leave the window, it will be the same for a couple of hours without erroring out.
We have a casarray set up, forced the ports to 59595 and 59596 for the address book as mentioned the guide. We are not doing SSL redirect on the Virtual Directory. Test-AutoConfiguration from Outlook returns the correct entries. Works for most users but
    not all.
On the users that do not work, I've tried deleting the users profile, deleting the Outlook Directory under AppData. Sometimes, magically (for a lack of a better word), if I check the Offline Address Book Directory a few days later, there are files there.
If I then do a manual Download, same thing, the progress bar will be stuck.
Puzzling as I'm not quite sure what else to check.
All clients are on Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave K

I also used your recipe  --disconnect the wireless mouse-- and the OAB update worked right away.
(It is not a Microsoft mouse.   )
    Thanks for the information.
I have been trying to find information on non-HID.
If you have any quick tips or a pointer to info about this, I wanted to get a better understanding of this topic.
Does this "wireless" for the mouse use the same "wireless" for the laptop regular network access via WiFi ?
(We had some evidence that when the laptop did not use the wireless mouse the OAB worked OK and/or when the laptop was running only on WiFi the OAB worked OK.    Not sure if this is all the same root cause.)
Also, does anyone know if this is something that Microsoft will fix at some point ?
We are trying to determine if "few or many" people here might be having OAB failures and have not reported it.
    Thanks again.

  • Exchange 2010 and outlook client

    Hi,
I am in a situation and I need a help. Two days ago I ran a command in Powershell to get the mailbox statistics for all users and I exported the file excel
But when I checked in outlook there is a big diffeerence between the size of OST and server mail box
For example if the Server mailbox size is 8.033 GB ,then in outlook the size OST is 5.954 GB
    Why this happen?
I checked the mailbox size to varify the size after archiving. Does it happen due to archiving ?
One important thing is all problematic email account using outlook 2013.
Is it a common nature seen only in outlook 2013 ?
    PLease help me
    Thanks

Outlook 2013 doesn't cache the whole mailbox by default.  Check the account properties on the client and observe the slider bar.  Also, understand that the OST file stores data in a different format, with different metadata than the Exchange
server.  Sizes will never be exactly the same.

  • Cannot empty Deleted Items - Exchange 2010 and outlook 2007

    Dear All,
In my organization a user have a problem, they are unable to delete emails from Deleted Items folder nor from Outlook 2007 nor from OWA.
The messages are very small (few KB) so I think it's not a problem of messages dimension. The user can move the messages from a folder to another (from Deleted Items to Drafts or to another folder and viceversa) but no way to delete permanently these messages.
Outlook runs on Remote Desktop Server so I can't put it in Cached Mode.
    Error Message:
"some items cannot be deleted. They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied "
    Environment:
    Exchange 2010 with SP1 update rollup 4-v2
    2 Server Box Installation
    Mailbox Clustered (DAG)
    HUB & CAS (NLB)
    Incoming message size 50MB
    Send Connectors Message Size: 50MB
User Client (Outlook 2007 with Latest Updates)
    Any IDEA??
    Regards,
    Milena.

    I reply to myself:
the user had exceeded the Dumpster quota.
I purged a lot of recoverable items and this seems had resolved the problem.
What I can't understand is WHY exchange server does not tell that the quota of the dumpster was exceeded: no warning to user, no event in event viewer, nothing at all...

  • OUTLOOK 2013 permission shared calendar Free/Busy doesn't work for some the users Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003 that use outlook 2007/2010

    Hello,
We are in coexitence organisation (transition Migration) Exchange 2003 sp2 and Exchange 2010 sp1.
Users in Exchange 2003 use outlook 2007 and outlook 2010
Users in Exchange 2010 use outlook 2007, outlook 2010 and outlook 2013.
Issue: users in Exchange 2003 can't open outlook 2013 user calendar when he has Busy/Free information as default permission in his calendar.
User in Exchange 2010 with outlook 2007 can't also open outlook 2013 user calendar when he has Busy/Free information as default permission in his calendar.
Is it normal ? or exist some configurations to do in order to coexist all thoses clients and servers ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Does this issue occur on Outlook only or both Outlook and OWA?
Since you have double checked the permissions via multiple methods, it seems there is nothing problem on permission. Please make sure the migration from Exchange 2003 server completed successfully.
If in OWA everything goes well (cannot see details), it should be an issue on the Outlook client side.
I suggest run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
I suggest re-create profile to refresh the caches.

Hello! I have two forest: Exchange 2010 SP2 RU5 - resource forest and Exchange 2013 SP1 - account forest. I make cross-forest migration from resource forest (linked mailboxes with account forest) to forest with Exchange 2013 SP1.
I have moved mailbox from resource forest exchange 2010 to exchange 2013 sp1 forest.
Outlook 2010 connect to migrated mailbox without any problem, but outlook 2013 sp1 cannot connect to migrated mailbox.
Error look like - cannot find exchange server.
I created new mailbox in Exchange 2013 organization and can connect to it with outlook 2010 and outlook 2013 sp1.
Someone have the same problem with migrated mailbox? How to solve it?
    Truly, Valery Tyurin

You can use New-MoveRequest to perform a cross-forest move. Here is a well post and step-wise explanation you can check for cross forest migration from exchange 2010 to exchange 2013(http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/11/03/e2013crossforestmigration/).
Moreover, you can try this utility (
