Microsoft Exchange / Analysing backpressure issue

Hi,
We are migrating Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.
The mailflow still goes through the old Exchange 2010 and via internal relay to the new Exchange 2013 servers.
Yesterday i saw that almost every email that i can see in this queue gets delay with
"452 4.3.1 Insufficient system resources"
I immediately thought about "Back Pressure" and searched for entries in the EventLog.
After i couldn't find anything i disabled back pressure in the "edgetransport.exe.config" for
some time, to proof that the issue is caused by that.
During the disabled state i had no delays or messages with that error  in the queue, so i'm pretty sure that the issue is caused by
back pressure.
My problem now is that i don't have any idea how to find out which one of the back pressure thresholds is causing the issue.
Any ideas how i can deeper analyse this issue, to find out what the exact reason is?
Thanks in advance
Simon

Hi,
I recommend you refer to the following article:
How to fix error: 452 4.3.1 Insufficient system resources on Exchange Server
Fixing Back pressure problems & Thresholds
 Queue database path (“C:Program FilesMicrosoftExchange ServerV14TransportRolesdataQueuemail.que”) = 15% [Normal] [Normal=95% Medium=97% High=99%]
Increase Hard Drive space if this is an issue
Queue database logging path (“C:Program FilesMicrosoftExchange ServerV14TransportRolesdataQueue”) = 15% [Normal] [Normal=94% Medium=96% High=98%]
Increase Hard Drive space is this is an issue
Version buckets = 0 [Normal] [Normal=80 Medium=120 High=200]
Physical memory load = 60% [limit is 94% to start dehydrating messages.]
Increase physical memory if this is an issue
Private bytes = 76% [High] [Normal=71% Medium=73% High=75%]
Increase physical memory if this is an issue. This can appear an issue if you are using dynamic memory.
Batch Point = 0 [Normal] [Normal=2000 Medium=4000 High=8000]
Submission Queue = 0 [Normal] [Normal=1000 Medium=2000 High=4000]
Perform monitoring to determine issue. If high volume of emails you might need to upgrade your hardware or balance the load with another server.
Hope this helps!
Thanks.

  • Microsoft exchange calendar sync issue in iOS 5.0.1

    Hi,
I have iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 installed. My company uses Miycrosoft Exchange Server and I have synched my iPhone using the Microsoft Exchange server account option. I don't have any probelm with my emails or contacts.
However, the calendar is not synching properly. After I setup the account for the first time, I see many of my calendar items has been synced. But some of them are missing. I can't find any reason why those items are missing. I added/deleted new items on my calendar on Outlook Web Access and it showed up on my iPhone. I also tried adding/deleting items on my iPhone and they synched appropriately. The only issue is some of the pre-existing items are not showin on my iPhone and I can't find any reason for it.
I already tried to delete the account and add from scratch. I also removed the iCloud from my iPhone and tested without iCloud, no difference. I reinstalled the iCloud.
    Any help is much appreciated.

We have struggled with this as well on Exchange 2010. We just trued this today with some of our users and seems to get everything back into sync:
    On the iOS device:
    • Navigate to Settings app > Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
    • Scroll down and locate the Calendar section
    • Tap Sync (under the Calendars section)
    • Set the interval to All Events
    • Close the Settings app (Tap Home button)
I suggest rebooting the iOS device. Check the calendar and let it sync – look for those missing events.
This has worked for everyone that had the missing events issue.

    Hi Teyob,
Did you try to use different browser to check if the issue persist?
This issue was occurred on browser. If you IE with this issue, we should check to clear the option "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode" from your Internet Explorer(IE) Tools--Internet Options--- Advanced--Security.
If the setup URL of the ClickOnce application being installed is redirected from a non-secure to a secure site (or vice-versa), the installation would fail due to the Internet Explorer warning. Therefore, please make sure to remove the redirection completely
and point to the actual setup URL.
If the issue persists, we could perform Windows Update to install updates and then run the Desktop configuration again.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • Exchange 2013 Issue - Cannot open default email folders. you must connect to microsoft exchange

Hello all, this is my first post and nightmare to this issue because i believe i made mistake and overlook something. I search over the internet i cant find the best answer or maybe i missed something during the configurations. The exchange was working fine
not after i change the setting following the method
Configure External and Internal URL in Exchange 2012. after that, the users outlook experiencing disconnect from exchange. I restore back the previous setting but now I cant add any new user to the any Outlook version or change the server path. it will
cause the problem which show the message below:
"Can't open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folder with your offline folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)"
I restarted the server and check all the Exchange services are running. The Outlook web is running and they able to receive and send out. The existing link to the exchange are still working so I not really sure what setting should i look into. I was thinking
about restoring back from Window Server Backup but was advise not to do it unless there are ways to look back the previous setting from the backup.
One of my ex-boss told me could be the Exchange Certificate but wasn't sure.
I really appreciate someone could advice and help me resolved this issue.

I had this same issue, except I have Symantec mail security not Forefront. It wound up being a line in the adult content filter. For whatever reason, they included "If you received this email" as one of the literal strings. This is probably part
of almost every corporate confidentiality clause I have ever seen!! go figure......
Thanks for the event log hint- since I have the adult content set to delete, I had no good tracking mechanism in Exhange or SMSME. I set email notifications for the future on these.

I had this same problem, but I have ESET Mail Security Server. in some one case the problem y solved if I attach the "user@domain" in the "white
List". But in many case the problem is continuous. I have Exchange 2007 in MS Windows Server 2003.

  • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync issues

I am unable to add my office's Microsoft Exchange to my email acounts.
I get the following message: "There was an unexpected error and the operation was canceled"
here is the response i got from our offsite IT guy
"What modelof blackberry is it? From my understanding blackberry doesn’t support exchange based webmail without an intermediate server or a desktop application set up to sync to outlook. That’s the main reason they are going out of business. We have an entire BES server here at GQ just so that our one blackberry user is able to work.
Id have to do some research if it’s a newer phone, but in all of my past experiences android and apple have been doing phone email better for the last 8 or so years."
any suggestions before i return it?

Your IT guy has no clue about the new BlackBerry 10 devices (and no clue about BB going out of business either for that matter.) Your Q10 should connect EXACTLY like an iPhone or Android device using Exchange Active Sync. Do they have Active Sync enabled on your account? I've seen the same error message reported when people don't have AS enabled for their account.
They need a new BES10 server for BB10 devices. Your Q10 will not connect to their old BES 5 or older BES server. Have them contact BlackBerry for more info. Right now BES10 migrations are free from BlackBerry.

  • HT4972 has anyone had issues syncing with microsoft exchange server since upgrading to ios 5.1.1

Has anyone had issues syncing with microsoft exchange since updating to ios 5.1.1

No bug I'm using exchange at work I've updated a couple of people here and it's working.
Your IT guy can't fix this for you?   This problem usually is due to the exchange server not recogonizing your account.   You have the right server and domain entered?

  • Outlook 2013 Rules issue when more than 50 rules exist ("The rules on this computer do not match the rules on Microsoft Exchange").

I think I may have found a bug.
My Outlook 2013 profile has more than 75 rules. When I started testing Outlook 2013, I got the message "The rules on this computer do not match the rules on Microsoft Exchange. Only one set of rules can be kept. You will usually want to keep the rules
on the server. Which rules do you want to keep?"
    I did the following troubleshooting:
    1. I created a new Outlook profile. This didn't fix the issue.
    2. I exported my rules, cleared them using "outlook /cleanrules", then reimported the rules. This didn't fix the issue.
    3. I cleared the rules again (outlook /cleanrules), then hand-entered the rules. This also didn't fix the issue.
    4. I reduced the number of rules to less than 50. This FIXED the problem.
    5. When I entered rule #51, the problem came back. When I removed ruled #51, the problem was again fixed.
Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to this issue?
    Thanks.

Sounds like you went over your "rule quota limit" as you do have a great number of rules.  Please see the link below for cause and possible resolution.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server Issue

    Hello everyone,
After sitting around with my IT group yesterday we've ran into a slight issue setting up Microsoft Exchange. When you need to enter the server information it apparently has to be in the form of a domain name, e.g. ms.company.com. My company is telling me that we don't have a domain but rather connect to our server through an IP address. Is there any way to manipulate a host file and point it to the IP or some other work around so that I can recieve company email on my iPhone?
    Thank you.

I had the same problem when I first purchased the phone back in May. I had about 60,000.00 emails from the past 5 years in my main server at work  that I had not deleted. My IT guy told me that I had to delete my old emails and that the INC works from the main server and I had way over the amount that I should have. I work for a very busy RE firm in NYC and we get about 150 emails a day, which ads up fast. Once I dld as he suggested the phone has not had one problem w/ outlook or syncing again. The Iphone works in the exact same way.  BB's operate from their own server so are not as effected by this as much. The  phone  works great with outlook, and actually quicker and better than my BB. Good luck!!

  • Microsoft Exchange Server Active Sync issue

When I purchased my Droid Incredible I set up my account for my work email.  My job uses Microsoft exchange server so I had no issues getting setup and started.
A week later my email stopped syncing.  I deleted the account and set it up again.  That temporarily fixes the problem.  Another week passes and I have the same problem.  I reset my phone and set up the my email account again.  No issues until one week later when it does it again.
Unless I can find a solution to this problem I think this phone will have to be returned.  Don't get me wrong, this phone is great but email is the reason I purchased this phone.  There are 52 weeks in a year.  I can't see myself resting my email account every week.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thx

  • Having problems with Microsoft Exchange ans the Sync Issues, Conflicts folder

Ever since our company started using the Exchange we have been getting double/triple up's of emails.
They seem to go to the inbox ok but then extra copies go to the sync/conflicts folder, which when stored on the exchange, fills up the mailbox, which is a pain.

    Help
    Linda

    Hi,
For your highlight part, This issue occurs if the Outlook client computer is configured to use proxy settings when Windows Internet Explorer is used. However, the IP address of the Exchange 2007 Client Access Server (CAS) server is not in the exclusion list.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Start Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2.On the Connections tab, click LAN settings.
3.Click to select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box, and then click Advanced.
4.Type the FQDN of the Exchange 2007 CAS server, and then click OK.
    5.Restart Outlook.

  • Iphone 3G - Calendar sync issue via Microsoft Exchange

I have my iphone sync fine with mail and contacts via Microsoft Exchange with my work PC outlook, but can not get the calendar to sync. I upgraded to Microsoft 2007 and it sync once (possibly after accepting a meeting invite), but then no updates. I have turned calendars off and on and lost all entries. I do get meeting invites though, but they too disappear.
    Any ideas?

Onicabbit has nailed this one. It has to do with appointments not having an end or start date or having a length of 0 minutes. Track those in outlook (use the category view and make sure you have no filter on which could obscure a few nasty ones), fix the dates and duration (open the meeting or event and add or change one of the dates) and the sync should work.

  • Migration issue - X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.StoragePermanentException

Im in the middle of a rather large migration and a few users are see the below error when trying to log in to OWA:
X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.StoragePermanentExceptionI cant find much on this error other than the enable inheritance permissions fix which all these accounts already have.Has anyone else come across this before?

    Hi
This problem occurs because the discretionary access control list (DACL) inheritance is disabled on the user account in Active Directory. The Exchange Servers group must have permissions
to write the msExchUserCulture attribute on the user when the language has been specified in OWA.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
    1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
    2. Click View, and then click Advanced Features.
Note To make the Security tab available at both the user level and the organizational unit level, you must enable the Advanced Features option in Active Directory Users and Computers. This option is available under the View menu.
    3. Open the properties for both the user level and the organizational unit level that the users are located in, and then locate the Security tab.
    4. Click Advanced.
    5. Make sure that the following check box is selected:
Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here.
    6. Force Active Directory replication.

  • Exchange 2013 Install Issues

    Hi everyone -
I'm having BIG issues with my Exchange setup.  First off, I walked into a nightmare of a situation here and it seems everything is completely jacked up in terms of network and servers...  I'm actually contemplating starting over 100% with everything,
but when I bring that up to upper management, they say it's not feasible.
We currently have Exchange 2007 SP3 with RU11.  I found out that when SP3 was installed, whoever did it never updated AD or the schema.  Now I can't do that because i'm on RU11 and it's giving me a version mismatch error.  So I've decided
to move on to just upgrade to Exchange 2013.
I am on the beginning steps of doing this and I just ran:  setup /PrepareAD /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms.  When doing this I get the following nasty little error:
Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Unattended Setup
    Copying Files...
File copy complete. Setup will now collect additional information needed for installation.
Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check
        Prerequisite Analysis
    FAILED
Setup will prepare the organization for Exchange 2013 by using 'Setup /PrepareAD'. No Exchange 2010 server roles have b
een detected in this topology. After this operation, you will not be able to install any Exchange 2010 servers.
Cannot find the Recipient Update Service responsible for domain 'DC=kuder,DC=local'. New and existing users may not be
    properly Exchange-enabled.
One or more servers in the existing organization are running Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003. Installa
tion can't proceed until all Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 servers are removed.
The Exchange Server setup operation didn't complete. More details can be found in ExchangeSetup.log located in the
    <SystemDrive>:\ExchangeSetupLogs folder.
A couple of notes about this error:
    1. I swear I've gotten some errors about the Recipient Update Service with Exchange 2007.  I'm think that might have lead me to the schema upgrade issue I talked about earlier.
    2.  We DO NOT have Exchange 2000 or 2003 in our environment!!!  Not sure where to even begin to remove the remnants of this!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Thanks for the reply Cara...  After further investigation last night it is clear to me that whoever upgraded us from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007, definitely didn't decommission the 2003 box correctly.  (this was all done WELL before I came around).
I've checked into a few things that you asked about:
    1.  In ADSI Edit, I have 2 Administrative groups.  the first one (Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)) shows the correct 2007 server in the CN=Servers, the other one (first administrative group) shows the old 2003 box
    under CN=Servers.
    2.  I did get the schema update for 2007 SP3 to finally go.  so when I looked in ADSI Edit, the Exchange Schema version is 14625 which according to that article is Exchange Server 2007 SP3, which is correct.  Last time I looked, it was 14622,
which was for SP2.  So we should be good there now.
    3.  The error with the RUS, was in Exchange 2007 BPA.  After investigating this further last night, this is again because of failure to properly decommission the old 2003 box.  Looks like I maybe need to remove any entries for Recipient Update
Service under ADSI Edit:  CN=Configuration,DC=domainname -> CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=First Organization -> CN=Address List Container -> CN=Recipient Update Services.  There are two items in that location now, CN=Recipient
Update Service (domain) and CN=Recipient Update Service (Enterprise Configuration).  From what I've read I can delete both of these since 2007 no longer uses this service.
    4.  No errors in the Application Log currently.
    Other Notes:
    1.  Everything with 2007 appears to be working fine.  No major issues.. I just want to upgrade us to Exchange 2013.
    2.  From the 2007 EMS, I ran: exchangeserver | ft name, admindisplayversion, exchangeversion.  This showed me the following:
    Name                       AdminDisplayVersion        ExchangeVersion
    ADELSB01                   Version 6.5 (Build 7638... 0.0 (6.5.6500.0)
    K01SIT003                  Version 8.3 (Build 83.6)   0.1 (8.0.535.0)
Definitely still showing the old 2003 Exchange box in there.
    Thanks!
