Microsoft experience from Apple's latest offering?
I seem to be getting it! Safari can't play ANYTHING from YouTube, or any other online video source. I get black screen with audio only.
Safari crashes about every tenth page I look at.
I used to use text edit to keep notes handy for current projects. Now it won't remember the previously opened docs no matter what preference settings I choose.
iTunes has to rebuffer every two minutes and I have Comcast Extreme 50Gbps service which is averaging about 29000Mbps in the last 10 tests I ran from both DSL Reports and Speed Test.
I punch in my password at start up and about 1 out of 3 times I have to re-enter it exactly the same way multiple times before it recognizes it.
This all reminds me of the lack of smooth operation I used to get when forced to use those windblows machines in school. I want my Mac user experience back! What happened Apple? No more product testing? No more quality control? Are you too big now to care if you provide a QUALITY product?
just a rant, feel free to flame or ignore, I don't really care at this point. I've followed all the advice I could find changing settings in more places than I care to count, installing reinstalling, uninstalling and rebooting more times than I want to remember, downloading new versions of every helper app I could find the smallest scrap of information on, all to no avail. It's like I have windows 95 on my machine. Slow. Buggy. Predictably unstable.
I hope this stops when I upgrade my hardware....again.

Something is seriously wrong with your machine, Safari is working fine here, and with most people I would imagine, some are bound to have issues but unless you are missing plugins I would say its time to do a hardware check and not blame Apple when its not actually their fault...Your rant will get you no help really, its not helping you, you don't tell anyone what measures you have taken and are just telling is its Apple, when I can assure you its now. Try posting again after holding your breath and tell people what's actually happening in detail and your steps to fix it.

No can do. sorry. There are apps in the App Store you can buy, such as Pages (for word documents) and numbers (for excel spreadsheets), but there is no way to move your Microsoft software on to your iPad, even if you have it on an Apple Laptop. They are totally different operating systems..

Is it possible to downgrade to 10.7.1 from Apple's latest abortion?
My encrypted external hard drives will no longer mount and I had to wipe my drive in my desktop to reinstall Lion. I have read a few threads and know that there is a conflict between PGP and 10.7.2, however, I have removed all components associated with PGP and never used PGP on my external drives. My question is two-fold; does anyone have work-around to access my external HDDs or, short of that, is it possible to downgrade to Lion version 10.7.1 or earlier?

The computer thinks it's wrtiting and reading from a ordinary external drive.
and Apple certainly has been having a lot of miscarriages lately, everyhting from firmware and up, it's like someone decided to puke their lunch into a high speed fan to cover the whole office just for giggles. -
I just upgraded to ilife iphoto 09. Now when I alter images in iphoto 8.1.2 the program freezes up. I have downloaded all of the latest updates from apple, but nothing seems to correct this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List. -
How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.
First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
A Microsoft technical advisor said that the "retail copy" of Windows 7, 64 bit Home Premium would not work with Boot Camp to put the Windows operating system on the IMac. She said that I would have to use the System Builder copy of Windows 7 to put it on my iMac. An Apple technical advisor told me that I had to use the "retail copy" of Window 7 because that was the one used by Apple when they developed the Boot Camp program. I have also seen some articles from Apple that suggests that both copies of Windows 7 would work OK. Does anyone have any experience that shows which one or both I should purchase to put on my computer?

I used the 64-bit System Builder Edition when I bootcamped my 2010 iMac a couple of years ago. Worked perfectly--installed a very lean system. Without all the extra cr@pware that comes preinstalled on name-brand Win computers, the SBE OS actually works darned well.
However, that was under Mac OS 10.6.8 which remains on that computer for compatibilty reasons not related to Windows. Haven't BCed any newer Mac OS, so your mileage may vary. -

Type this exactly as you see it here:

Click Go
Move the com.apple.PrinterPrefs.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, restart the printer... -

The power supplies used by Apple can be used with any line voltage between 100 and 240 volts so you done need any changes there.
What you will need is pin adapters because the European socket require different shaped pins. You can get the pins adapters at any hardware store quite inexpensively.

From Contacts, anyway (the new version of Address Book) you can export to a .abbu file and import then into Outlook. I'm not sure about Mail as I only really use Outlook...

What is the latest Mac OS X I can download from apple for the eMac?
I want to update the OS X on my eMac, but can not afford OS X 10.5.8. I currently have OS X 10.4.11. I am looking for the latest OS X I can download for free from apple or any other website that will carry a newer OS X for my eMac. I did find a disk one for OS X 10.4.2 in the trash the other day, but not sure if it's a newer OS X or even if I need a disk 2. Here are my specs:

EddieThe highest all eMacs can go to is Leopard 10.5.8. Like the others said, an install CD set is the only way to do this, I don't know if apple has them anymore but they usually go for around $60 online and eBay. Once you upgrade to 10.5.8, you can run safari 5.0.6, which lets you do almost anything online. Or on the other hand, for the $60 you'd spend on a CD set you could probably buy another used mac online which already has 10.5.8 for almost the same price.

Horrible experience and the movie kept stalling through iTunes on appletv. Gave up (after paying for it) and ended up renting it through cable provider. Anyone know how to get $ back from apple?!

Buy version 2011 of MS Office.
Or you can download OpenOffice, LibreOffice or NeoOffice, which all come very close to working with MS files just like MS Office does.

i upgraded my os to the latest lion os on 39th NOV . But unfortunately i had to reinstall the os back ( A big story ) .
so i reinstalled and brought it back to 10.7.1
Now when i try to open iphoto it says i need os > 10.7.2
every other ilife apps are opening .
please help

After editing a RAW photo in PE13 (my External Editor) originally sent from Apple's iPhoto, I can not reimport the edited photo back into my iPhoto library. The
"Import to Library" command is greyed out. This was not the case until the latest PE13 update (Camera Raw Version 8.7.1.311). What needs to be done
to reimport edited photos back into my iPhoto library? Ideas?Launch PSE Expert Mode and go to:
Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> Saving Files (tab)
Set the drop-down dialog
On First Save : Save Over Current File
Click OK.
When you have finished editing in PSE use Cmd+S to save (not Save As)
