Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platform for LiveCycle server

Hi everybody,
I have a client who asked me if LiveCycle supports Microsoft Hyper-V environment virtualization.  Is Hyper-V supported by latest versions of LiveCycle either ES3 SP2 or the new upcoming ES4?
Thanks in advance.

Hi;
we have R12.1.1 with database ( 11.1.0.7).
can we configure our R12 real time physical database on microsoft hyper v virtualizatised server ??
Please review:
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/ebs1213_oraclevm
will this physical standby database on virtualization bear full load of users in case of switchover / failover ??We have some customer who use VM and they are happy. It dependes your expectation.

What is the best platform for Oracle Server?
    What is your criterion?
    Thanks,
    Somsak B.

I believe that Oracle is developed and coded on a Solaris
platform and then ported to other operating systems. If that is
the case, you can assume that Solaris is the best platform or at
least the safest in terms of performance and risk.
If anyone knows anything to the contrary, pls correct me.

    Hello,
When you insert data from SQL Server into a linked server, then a distributed transaction should be started and here it seems this fails.

  • Has anybody used the microsoft JDBC 2.0 driver for sql server 2000?

    Hi,
Has anybody used the JDBC 2.0 driver for sql server 2000 downloadable from the
microsoft website? When I try using it with WL 6.1 sp1 it says it can't load the
driver.I try viewing the class file from the jar file using the jar utility it
gives an unknown Zip format error.Anybody has any solution for this ?If anybody
has managed to work with this microsoft driver i will be grateful if they provide
    me with a solution.
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hello Thomas,
You may want to download the driver again and install it again.
heres a sample xml tag in the config.xml:
    <JDBCConnectionPool
    DriverName="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
    InitialCapacity="3" MaxCapacity="12" Name="MSpool"
    Password="{3DES}fUz1bxR0zDg=" Properties="user=uid"
    Targets="myserver"
    URL="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://mydbserver:1433"/>
ensure that you follow the instructions from Microsoft. For using 2000
driver you will need to have
Install_dir/lib/msbase.jar and Install_dir/lib/msutil.jar in addition to
    Install_dir/lib/mssqlserver.jar in the CLASSPATH.

  • Change of port for Livecycle server

    Hi all,
When we first setup our Livecycle server we configured it running on a non-standard port and have experienced repeated headaches with people behind corporate firewalls not being able to open documents secured with Rights Management.
We'd like to reconfigure our installation to solve this (change the port) but will this mean all our documents will stop working? Will we have to re-apply RM policies and then redistribute all of our documents?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi,
Based on your description, I guess that you install the backup software on Windows Server 2012 Essentials firstly,
and then configure Direct Access. Then you find there is an issue of port 25566 conflict. If anything I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Changing the default port of Direct Access on Windows Server 2012 Essentials seems to be not a good idea. Would
you please let me know more information of this third-party backup software? You may contact with vendor of the backup software and confirm which service (or any other) listens on port 25566. Meanwhile, confirm if we can change port 25566 of the backup software.
By the way, for backup, Windows Server Essentials provides reliable ways to perform regular backups of your
server and backups of your network computers. For more details, please refer to the following article.
Manage Backup and Restore in Windows Server
    Essentials
    Hope this helps.

  • Hyper-v Failover clustering for SQL Server lab

    Hi,
After 20yrs years of IT software experience, now I am realizing that I don't know much about hyperV clustering. :) I am trying to setup a lab. I badly need help on configuring network adapters
to make the machines accessible from each other. Please see details below:
I have a laptop with 8gb ram with windows 8.1 hyper-V. I created 4 VMs with Windows 2008r2 on it and further I intend having SQL Server Failover Clustering. VM details are as below:
    DC - Domain Controller
    SanStorage - MS iSCSI target
Win1 - Primary node in the cluster that will have SQL Server instance
Win2 - Secondary node in the cluster that will have SQL Server instance.
The laptop has 1 Qualcomm network adapter (generally used for connecting Lan cable) and a Broadcomm (wifi) adapter. I intend setting up three virtual adapters
    First for regular communication
Second for Data (SQL Server Data to be stored on SCSI)
    Third for HeartBit
Normally, (on my laptop) I connect to internet using Broadcomm (Wi-Fi) and want to ensure that whenever needed:
Run this lab even when Lan or wifi is NOT connected. If one of them is mandatory then even that could be the option.
I should be able to use internet within all VMs as well- though this is good to have requirement.
Internet needs to be available on laptop at least. Even if it is unavailable in VMs that is ok.
    Now the actual problem.
I DON'T KNOW how many virtual internal/external/private switches to be
defined and assigned to individual VMs. What should be the IPs, Subnets, DNS, Gateways defined on those?
I was able to setup the stuff up-to certain extend and then it stopped working for unknown reasons. I have VMs ready. Next what should I do? Steps...
setup network adapters in each VM
    setup DNS on DC
Add remaining 3 VMs in domain
Define Win1 and Win2 as cluster
    Configure Target
Configure initiators and access the target
    e. Install SQL Server
    Is above correct?
My queries probably demands a separate article. But I have already referred many articles and couldn't figure it out so posting it here. I sincerely request your help!
PS – Even after disabling firewall (with and without having DNS setup) I am unable to ping VMs from each other.
    Regards,
    ThingToLearn
    Thanks, Pravin

    Hi,
You need create another guest vm as the NAT device, attach the NAT external to the Wifi adapter or cable adapter, then you can set all your vms in internal network
    vswitch.

  • Which platform for the server

We are planning to buy Oracle Business Intelligence so that we can use Reports and Discoverer. Now, I want your input for the platform which should use, Windows or UNIX.
    The pluses for Windows :
+ font installation and support is easier than UNIX
+ speaking to printers is also easier
    The minuses for Windows :
    - that damn Registry
    - eat more RAM and CPU ressources
    - the cost of the operating system
You can guess that UNIX has the inverse minuses and pluses. If we go with Windows, I will look at Windows 2003 Web Server Edition since it's only for running Oracle BI, anyone running Reports on this OS ?

    hello,
all the different OSs' have pros and cons and it really depends on your infrastructure and you standards whether you want to go with windows or unix.
please consult the certification information for OracleBI for information on OS certifications.
    thanks,

  • Preferred Unix Platform for DB server

Currently we are using HP Compaq Tru64 as the OS for all our DB servers,
as you are aware, this OS will be desupported in the future. Hence, we need to pick a new OS.
I am aware of Oracle has their preference in delivering DB server software and patches in different OS with a certain order.
Would you be able to provide me information on the preference ? Your answer will be an input of the process of selecting a new OS ?

    Hello,
I can give you only my personal opinion. It seems, the preferred platform (from Oracle's point of view) is now Linux, although there's no official statement by Oracle (and no representative will give you a definite answer).

I know, I know, the forums are full of this error message. But sometimes when you follow all of the rules, stuff still happens, or in this case Doesn't happen.
I installed the proper ACE drivers (64 bit) and reconfigured SQL Server to allow Ad Hoc Queries. Hell I even rebooted the server after the install.
I have successfully installed these drivers on several machines (work stations and servers), and all have worked just fine. So, I am at a loss as to why it won't work on this system. I might have forgotten some obscure setting, but I don't think so.

    Hi ,
I think this help u little to run excel file in ssis.In instal  Access bit not work well on ssis any version.you need to change debugging 1 option from  true to false.
This is the step for change it:
    1. Right click on your project then go to properties.
    2.then go to debugging.
3.Then there is a option debug.go there and change "Run64bitRuntime"  true to false.
    I think your problem solve.
Told me if u not understand anything my English so bad

  • Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "database name".

I have an application which has linked servers to mdb databases on Sql Server. Development machines which have access to full version of Office can intialise the data source as expected, however, machines using the Office 2010 runtime throw the above exception.

  • Windows Server 2012 High Memory Utilization(Three Hyper-V Instance Configure in this Server For Lync)

    Hello There,
Issue: High Memory Utilization in Below Scenario. Pl. See the below configuration of Win 12 Server
Pl. see for committed memory bytes . m little bit confused that about committed memory
    OS: Windows Server 2012
Memory: Total 24 GB Free:1.3 GB Committed:27.6 GB
App Configure: Three Hyper V Instances Configure For Lync Server 2013
Pls provide me solution on this issue

Virtual memory system.  Committed memory is the physical memory for which space has been reserved in the disk paging file.  So, you are paging, which is quite common in virtual memory systems.
On a completely different topic.  Lync is an application that works best on real cores.  Most systems are configured by default to use hyperthreading.  Hyperthreading increases the logical processor count on a system and logical processors
are treated equally.  Since a hyperthread 'core' (logical processor) performs at a small fraction of a real core (logical processor), if you are running VMs that work best with real cores, it is best to change your BIOS on the Hyper-V host to disable
hyperthreading, sometimes called simultaneous multithreading (SMT).

  • Using JSP & JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000 on Red Hat

I successfully have a .jsp app running on windows server 2000 using JDBC
driver for SQL Server 2000. Which I installed in order to the following
    Red Hat:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/MSDN-FILES/027/001/779/install.htm
I moved the .jsp app over to the Red Hat 9 server running Tomcat, while
keeping the MS SQL 2000 on windows. The issue I have is setting up the
JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000 on the Red Hat server.
I created a folder called /usr/java/MSSQLdriver and unzipped the tar file with
the driver for SQL Server 2000. And ran the install.ksh script.
The /usr/java/MSSQLdriver/lib has the following files within it:
    msbase.jar, msutil.jar, & mssqlserver.jar
I chmod 0777 each of the *.jar files.
I then went into /etc/profile.d/tomcat.sh and adding the following:
    CLASSPATH=.;/opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msbase.jar;/opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msutil.jar;/opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/mssqlserver.jar
Each time I login and pull up the termial I get the following error:
bash: /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msbase.jar: cannot execute binary file
bash: /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/msutil.jar: cannot execute binary file
bash: /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib/mssqlserver.jar: cannot execute binary file
And can't connnect to the database within the .jsp app.
Is there anyone out there using DBC driver for SQL Server 2000 on the Red Hat server?
    Michael

Sorry, I needed to correct some information of where the drivers were installed.
I created a folder called /usr/java/MSSQLdriver/new and untar the Microsoft file with the driver for SQL Server 2000. I ran the install.ksh script "sh install.ksh"
installed the driver into the default directory "/opt/msSQLjdbc".
The /opt/msSQLjdbc/lib has the following files within it:
    msbase.jar, msutil.jar, & mssqlserver.jar
