Microsoft keyboard causing might mouse interference.

I have a Microsoft 7000 bluetooth keyboard paired with my Mac Mini. My bluetooth mighty mouse works fine until I use they keyboard. Once the keyboard awakes from sleeping the mouse is jumpy. If I turn the mouse on and off it solves the problem.
Both will work fine if the keyboard has been active and the mouse reset. As soon as the keyboard sleeps and is reconnected the mouse needs to be turned on and off otherwise it jumps.
Any suggestions? I'd like to try to fix this instead of spending $80 on an Apple keyboard.

I haven't seen this addressed anywhere, and I have the same problem. My BT mighty mouse and keyboard (the aluminum one), both lag significantly while I perform any sort of file transfer. This includes downloading from the web, or transferring through my LAN to other computers. Nothing else is affected other than bluetooth. That means that my MB keyboard and trackpad still work normally, even though the BT devices are going crazy.
I'd love to see this addressed, since it really does get annoying.

  • How about my microsoft keyboard and mouse?

I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse that have the extra buttons, like media controls, volume controls, the F-keys that are also shortcuts like undo & redo & new& open & such and I was wondering if those will work with my MacBook Pro that I am going to buy sometime soon. Like will Microsoft come out with a driver, does Apple supply one, will it just work?
I didn't look hard, but I couldn't find one post already about this, so I thought I might ask the question. I'm hoping that it will work, because I like my keyboard and mouse, but I'm thinking that it probably won't work as anything but a keyboard (the media control keys won't work and such)

I have a older wireless Microsoft keyboard/mouse at work (can't remember the model) and it is connected to a KVM with a Windows machine and various Macs. The volume controls works and I use F12 for the CD eject, which is a standard Apple keyboard command. Haven't tried the other keys on the Mac side mainly because I don't have a need for them. If they do work I'll post back.

  • When I disable my left windows key for gameing using Microsoft keyboard and mouse software, I can no longer type in firefox. How can i fix this?

Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Software that you install with Microsoft keyboard and mice, (latest version) allows you to disable your windows key so that you don't accidentally hit it when gaming. When I take advantage of this feature, I can no longer type in Firefox. Typing in Firefox is completely disabled. Other browsers, windows, applications work, but not Firefox. What is it about the windows key that firefox needs for typing. Strange problem, but annoying because I have to use a different browser while game. Certainly not a deal breaker, but kinda strange.

  • I have a keyboard that i'd like to use...don't hate me, but, it's my old microsoft keyboard. My IMAC isn't recognizing it. Is there any way I might get it to work? Thanks!

Is it possible to sync my old microsoft keyboard to my IMAC?  I don't have the funds to buy a new one right now and like a larger keyboard...don't hate me...I love my MAC but need a larger keyboard for now.
    Thanks!!!

USB keyboards are generic and should work without any difficulty.
If it's a wireless keyboard, it may or may not work, depending on the drivers Microsoft uses. The following instructions apply to Apple Bluetooth keyboards but it may be useful as a general resource: Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard. Be sure to refer to the Bluetooth Quick Assist link as well.
More information may be found in Bluetooth frequently asked questions
There is no way to know whether your keyboard will work or not in advance, but there is no harm in attempting to use one or the other.

  • My Might Mouse is spazzing out!

Hi! We got a Mighty Mouse with our iMac (flat screen) about a year and a half ago. Several months ago, the mouse started causing weird problems. For instance, when there is more than one window open, the windows just start voluntarily deciding to jump to the front. Or sometimes all of the windows will sort of fade to the background so that I can see them all, but none of them are front and center. It's so aggravating! I'll try to shut one of the windows, and just as I get the cursor to the little red dot, the windows decide to switch. Occasionally this has happened when I'm not even touching the mouse.
So, anyway, we pulled out an old mouse (not Mighty Mouse) and used that for several months. Well, we finally decided to replace it with a new Mighty Mouse, and as soon as we plugged it in, it started doing that spazzing out thing again! It never did it with the old, non-Mighty Mouse mouse. So, does anyone know what the problem is? Is it a problem with Mighty Mouses, or am I doing something wrong with the Might Mouse? Has anyone else run into this problem? I'd appreciate any and all suggestions. I still have the receipt and I can return it, but I don't want to buy another Mighty Mouse if there is a problem with all of them. TIA

Since I don't have a Mighty Mouse with my Macs,
the disadvantage in my reply is not being able to
try this out ahead of time to see if I can duplicate.
This original 'flat panel' forum, is about iMac G4s.
Yours must be a newer Intel iMac. But the control
panel should be similar enough to check this out.
With the Mighty Mouse, do you see any different
control panels to make settings in the Sys Pref
under either the Keyboard & Mouse, or another?
How are the settings under Universal Access
when the Mighty Mouse is attached? You may
have options there which are affecting this item
when it is attached; and not a regular mouse.
Mouse (and trackpad in portables) offer settings.
These in Universal Access can affect actions.
Also, an older Mighty Mouse may have other
issues after some time - a required cleaning.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Need to Share Keyboard, Video, and Mouse Between Windows Laptop and Mac

I need a Mac that shares a keyboard, video, and mouse with my company issued Windows laptop. Usually this just requires a KVM switch but the current iMac has no video input. Subsequently, I can't feed video from the Windows laptop to the iMac's screen.
_Are these the only solutions for my situation?_
    1) Buy a Mac Mini and share a separate LCD (Too underpowered for me)
    2) Buy a Mac Workstation and share a separate LCD (Too overpowered and pricey for me)
    3) Buy a MacBook Pro (Might work but I am wasting $ since I don't need portability)
    4) Wait for new iMac that MAY have an input (Like it should already!) Anybody have any info on this!?
    Many Thanks!

I think what you are looking for is an open souce program called Synergy that works on both Mac and PC to give you a software KV(not M).
You set one machine up as the server, and the other as a client. The server will then control the control the keyboard and mouse of the client machine.
The alternate is Microsofts virtual screen sharing that allows you to see and control your windows machine in a window on your Mac. All of these require some set up, so you might want to check with your works IT dept.

  • Imac bluetooth not working with apple keyboard or magic mouse

Brand new imac won't connect to the bluetooth apple keyboard or magic mouse. I bought a usb keyboard and mouse to finish setup, but still cannot get them to connect. I tried going to system preferences, bluetooth, and trying to connect that way. I got halfway through the bluetooth keyboard setup until the connection failed. In the bluetooth setup assistant it cannot find any devices, despite them being in "discovery mode."
I tried connecting the mouse to my macbook pro and it worked fine, so I feel it is something wrong the the Imac's bluetooth.
Any guesses what might be going wrong here?

This fits with the observable results, however it does seem a little odd. The apple engineers coud have at least written the software to say something like, " I see an Iphone, but I can't do anything with it." Currently, it seem to behave like there is a problem with bluetooth connectivity. Not that the bluetooth is working fine, it just has nothing it can do with the two devices.
What you are trying to say has no sens. Check Apple TV manual and informations what bluetooth on this device is for and what options is giving to you before blaiming engineers for not making something straight.
Apple Tv 3rd (and 2nd) generation doesn't have a built-in storage and is more as a streaming device not syncing device. I suggest you read about Apple TV 3rd gen features and functionalyty and also about home sharing, airplay and airplay mirroring, apple remote app.

  • Mac Mini 2014 with Apple bluetooth keyboard and Magic Mouse

    Hi all,
I'm currently in the process of moving from my old MacBook to a Mac Mini 2014 and I have a couple of questions regarding functionality of the Apple bluetooth keyboard and Magic Mouse with the Mac Mini.
As these are the only keyboard and mouse I have available to me as I currently only have the one computer in the house, I'm wondering how I will pair them with my new Mac Mini (arriving next week for Christmas) without a wired user input device (keyboard or mouse). When I paired them with my MacBook, I of course had its trackpad and keyboard to navigate through the various steps, but as the Mac Mini does not have these, how does the pairing process work? Will I have to get my hands on a wired mouse/keyboard? I'm asking in advance because I need to get my new system up and running to start work on 27th December and so I need to know if I should pick up a cheap wired mouse/keyboard in advance.
My second question relates to the Mac Mini, Apple bluetooth keyboard and Boot Camp. Usually, when I want to boot into Windows on my MacBook, I hold down the Option/Alt key on my MacBook's built-in keyboard to be given the choice of operating systems. Sometimes when I do this using the bluetooth keyboard, it hasn't paired in time and it boots straight into OS X, so I have to wait until that has booted, shut down and then try again. Clearly, this might be a problem on a Mac Mini if I have urgent work I need to complete in Windows, so rebooting over and over until my keyboard finally pairs in time isn't desirable. Any tips here would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you unpair your BT KB and mouse from the old computer they should pair during the initial setup of the Mini. However, sometimes they donot a wired KB and mouse is required. You can use any USB PC KB and mouse.
Once you get the BT KB to work you can use the Option key on the BT KB while booting to get your choice of OS to boot into.

  • Bluetooth Might Mouse Problems

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but:
My bluetooth might mouse stops working after about 5 minutes of use. The arrow moves, but it's impossible to click on anything. Sometimes the arrow grabs a window, and it's impossible to let go of it.
If I turn the mouse off, then back on, it works fine, but this is really annoying!
    Thanks for any input!
    Rob

I am running into the same problem. I have yet to figure out a fix except turn the mouse on and off. Lately (as of yesterday) the mouse won't wake my machine up from sleep. When I press a key on the laptop's keyboard, it wakes up with a message that the connection to the mouse was lost.

If so, then deactivate them. They could be the cause of your problem.

  • Getting IntelliType for Microsoft keyboards and/or mice to load at startup in Mountain Lion

To date, Microsoft hasn't fixed the issue with the IntelliType drivers in Mountain Lion so they load by themselves. You have to open the System Preferences and click on the Microsoft Keyboard or Mouse panes to get them to load. The following will eliminate the need to perform these manual steps.
I'd like to give credit to the person who first discovered this, but having found the same text in numerous places, I can't single out the origin.
Navigate to the folder /Library/PreferencePanes/ of the startup drive
Right click on Microsoft Mouse.prefpane for mice, Microsoft Keyboard.prefPane for keyboards
From the resulting contextual menu, select Show Package Contents
Navigate down to Contents > Resources
Leave the Resources folder open on the desktop and open the System Preferences
    Select Users & Groups
Click on your user account and then the Login Items tab
Go back to the Resources folder on the desktop, select the file MicrosoftMouseHelper or MicrosoftKeyboardHelper, then drag and drop it into the Login Items window on the right hand side of the Login Items page (in the System Preferences window).
In the sample below, I added the keyboard helper.
Repeat the steps if you added the keyboard helper and also need the mouse helper.
Now when you restart or start up your Mac, these helpers will load automatically.
For users wondering if this is some sort of hack, it is not. If you've used IntelliType in Lion, Snow Leopard, or other previous versions of OS X, you'll see that MicrosoftMouseHelper and/or MicrosoftKeyboardHelper are in the user account Login Items. What's probably happening is security changes in Mountain Lion, such as sandboxing, are preventing these Login Items from being added during installation. So all you're doing is manually completing a step the IntelliType installer is failing at.

how you found this solution is beyond me as i did google a few days ago and found nothing.
I've looked numerous times, also. Must have gotten the right keywords this time.
What symptoms will a poster have if this is the problem?
I can't speak for users of the mouse panel, but if you're using one of the Microsoft keyboards the drivers are for, your keyboard won't be completely functional. Among the problems:
    1) The keyboard will remain mapped for a PC. The Alt (Option) key is next to the spacebar and will stay there, which means the Windows logo key will respond as the Command key, which is between Alt and Ctrl. To the right of the spacebar, the Alt key will again be Option, but the menu key between that and the right Ctrl key won't do anything you expect. To say the least, not having the Command key in its normal Mac position is a real pain.
    2) None of the other special keys will work, like the entire string of silver keys across the top of the 4000.
gave you credit and pointed back to this for ya. great guy.
Thanks! I hadn't seen that site before. Looks like a person could spend days there. I'll have to bookmark that one.
A secondary note: For users wondering if this is some sort of hack, it is not. • Microsoft keyboard, blank screen.how START install cd so emacG5 will work?

I have a microsoft keyboard, not the apple so i can't open my cd rom that way.
My screen just stays at the grey screen with white apple and black rectangle glitch.
I need to start the install cd (which isn't the original - if that makes a difference any)
How can i start the install disk with all these complications? And how will i know if it's a failed computer and no longer my inexperience and ignorance?
please help, i've been at this for a few months!!
emac g5   Mac OS X (10.0.x)   broke. grey screen.

    sally stone,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Holding the mouse button down at startup should force-eject all removable media and open the optical tray.
Is the OS X Install disk you're trying to use a commercial disk? The commercial OS X discs for 10.3 and later have black labels, while the model-specific discs that ship with a particular Mac have grey labels and are further labeled with the name of the Mac model for which the disc was made. You'll need either a model-specific disc that matche the particular eMac model (matching graphics hardware especially; don't try to use a nVidia graphics emac disc on an ATI graphics Mac), or a commercial OS X disc, a version at least as great as the OS X version that shipped with the eMac in the first place (e.g., don't try to use a OS X 10.2 disk on a 1.25 GHz eMac). Doing otherwise will mean you're trying to use an OS X disc that doesn't have the full set of drivers needed for the particular eMac model you have.
You can check eMac: How to locate the serial number and identify your model to help determine if you have the correct startup disc.
How to use the startup disc to check the hard drive is explained in Using Disk Utility and fsck
If you haven't already done so, try How to Start Up in Safe Mode after disconnecting everything except the keyboard and mouse.
Is the mouse an optical USB model? There have been posts from at least one user who's problems turned out to be due to using a PS2-to-USB adapter on an old mouse --- avoid those adapters!
What discs do you have that came with the eMac? In particular do you have a separate eMac Apple Hardware Test (AHT) CD or an eMac-specific Restore DVD with AHT on a DVD partition?

  • External Microsoft keyboard with Spanish characters

I have a Macbook 2,1 (late 2007) white running 10.6.8.  Have been having reoccurring kernelpanic problems (apparently associated with Skype and video) and Bluetooth connectivitybeing dropped intermittently.  Havedone all of the research that I can on both of these problems and have pursuedalmost every one of the suggestions found on the various support groups toaddress these problems.  Havefinally given up.  One of thefeatures that I’m giving up is Bluetooth, so I am now using a wired mouse(Logitech) and just purchased a Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 here in Seville,Spain, that claims to be Mac-compatible. This keyboard is a Spanish keyboard.  I have installed the driver software for the Microsoftkeyboard for a Mac, available on the Microsoft support sight.  However, I have not been able to getany of the new or relocated keys to work correctly.  My system does not recognize the placement of the variouskeys and symbols provided by the new keyboard and instead, simply inputs thestandard Apple keyboard key symbols. I’ve worked with Language and Text preferences and the keyboardpreferences but to no avail.  Isthere some way that I can make the keys on the Microsoft keyboard workcorrectly?  Thanks in advance forany help that anyone can provide.

Is one of your problems that the characters typed do not match what is on the keyboard?  In that case you may need to install a special keyboard layout, because PC keyboards are slightly different than the Mac versions.  If you email me I can send you one from Logitech to try (tom at bluesky dot org).
