Microsoft Live Tiles do not update

I have two different PC systems with Windows 8.1 (with all the updates).
In both systems the Microsoft live tiles "Mail", "People", "News", "Sports", "Food", "Health"
have the following issue:
Starting from a fresh installation they update as live tiles on the windows start screen.
BUT
when I click on them for the first time, I get into the app which works fine and after I close it, the tile stops being live. That is, if I click the tile it opens the app ok but then it stops
to update on the windows start screen.
The only solution that I have found is to uninstall and reintall the speciifec tiles again.
But even then the problem recycles. At first the live tile is OK and once I have entered the app and then closed it the live tile does not update.
Note that, of course, all live tiles are set to ON and that other tiles from Microsoft, such as "Weather" and "Stocks", or from other publishers such as Accuweather work and update without problems.
Any help appreciated.

There could be many reasons for it. You need to make sure that your Local Disk is not full. If it is not then follow the given steps below to solve your problem.
1) Change your screen resolution to 1024x768.
2) Run windows 8 app troubleshooter, choose repair.
3) Unpin the apps, then pin them again
4) Restart.

Windows Live Tiles are not working and refreshing

I have looked for an answer but can't seem to find one so this is honestly my last resort. For some reason my Windows live tiles are not working nor refreshing. When I open my Netflix app for instance I get a playback error N8102, but I am strangely connected
to the internet. Oddly, however, Netflix does work well using firefox on the desktop.
I tried to check if I needed an app update for Netflix, but the Windows app store is not loading as well. Internet explorer app is not working, and IE on the desktop is taking too long to load. But firefox and chrome work perfectly well on the desktop.
Other problems that I have encountered are:
Microsoft Office 2013 is taking too long to open, and when it does it often crashes
I can't view my Windows Updates
Can't view control panel. It also crashes.
I am not sure what the problem is.

Live Copy Properties not updating on Modify

Hi,
I'm creating a Mobile Site using the Live Copy feature.
I created a Live Copy, with a new MSM (triggered on Rollout), with "Edit Properties" that transforms the content resource type to my Mobile Components. Works Great!
I wanted the Mobile content (Live Copy) to be updated when the author updates the content. I tried creating a MSM which is triggered on "Modify" with the same Edit Properties.
What happens is that the updated content is copied but the Properties are not updated. i.e. the Live Copy site content reverts to the resourceType of the Blueprint Site ... Not Good!
We are using CQ5.5 without any Service Pack applied. It looks like this might be fixed with Service Pack 2.

Live Tiles, some not so live...

Hi, can anyone share what proffered "'Live Tiles' in Nokia Drive, Maps, Music and Transit (to name a few) actually do?? They do not seem to do anything for me..
In fact, and don't get this wrong I'm as big a fan of Nokia hardware as anyone - read my name, but I think the use of live tiles is actually less than ordinary and a bit disappointing.
Nokia and MS could do SO much more (in fact anything at all)... with the Nokia Music tile .. song, artists currently playing, album art, flip side of artists photo. Email client... large tile could cycle through ALL unread emails .. Calendar, large tile could cycle through several upcoming appointments. Maps/Drive: mid or large tile could show current location (when the app is running).. etc etc.
Not making anything like full use of the UX...

The Nokia music tile does nothing.. This is what i'm talking about.. Nokia could be doing so much better with their built in apps.. And Nokia themselves say that they have a huge amount of say in the UX and can customise as much as they wish.
In fact it says something, doesn't it, that in this way the native music app is actually better ??? Poor effort by Nokia, that's all i'm saying .. particularly when Nokia's music app is so nice, albeit slightly convoluted...

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs not updating

Anybody exprienced the scenario where logfiles in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs don't update anymore?
F.e. wsyncmgr.log is of beginning of April, no recent logs there except for 7 items: smsprov.smspxe, smsdpusage (date from Today).

Open ConfigMgr Service Manager and check the logging options (is logging for each component enabled at all? Is it really logging to the directory you examined?) You can also open the logs using notepad. cmtrace.exe sometimes does not display the entire
content if there are malformated lines.
Having installed ConfigMgr on the C:\ drive is not the best setup BTW.

Nokia Drive 3.0 Commute Live Tile

The Nokia Drive live tile does not update at commute time. I have to open app then exit to start screen at which time the live tile updates. When I open the app the second time it will the ask if I want to begin the commute. The live tile should automatically change near the specified commute time.

Nokia ovi maps was a good software with some minor flaws which i had hoped would be solved in the wonderful 'nokia drive' software. Thus i bought a lumia800. Obviously Nokia Drive was only designed so Nokia could claim they have a free navigation software. I think, they hope that after 10 seconds every user will realize, that it is useless and buy 'Navigation Europe' (45€) (which is still not as good as ovi maps used to be.)
You cannot chose fastest/shortest/optimised route, so nokia drive basically always goes for the next motorway, even if it is a major detour and/or takes longer.
If you leave the route it keeps trying to get back on the route, even if your destination is 50 meters straight ahead
destination input is awkward and lacks the option to pick a destination on the map
You cannot chose to avoid toll roads
You can only add a favorite on your current position
You can only add maps country by country
Voice commands with street names are not availablea
Offline search for the simplest things like 'gas station' does not yield useful results - a poi database (like in ovi maps) is not available
And i do not expect that any of the next updates will solve any of these issues, else nobody would buy the navigation europe software.
so as things are now i would recommend to buy any other phone with gps and buy some navi-software. 'free nokia navigation' is not an argument for anything.
So disappointing!

Can not update MS-Acess 2000 db; currently locked

Running CFMX7, IIS6 on Win2k3. Using <unfortunately>
multiple Ms-Access 2000 mdbs. One application in particular is
erroring out constantly. I have "maintain connections" unchecked.
Line 86 is the location of the update query. The update query DOES
NOT use CFUPDATE...it uses CFQUERY with update statement inside.

I did eventually get it to work. The most important piece was
changing the CF datasource type from MS-Acess to ODBC-Socket.
Making this change was the single biggest improvement I could
have made. It must be because even though the CF Datasource type
says MS-Access, it's actually using a JDBC-ODBC bridge, whereas the
ODBC-Socket is using the "old" or "previous" method of using ODBC
directly. So you need to make sure you have an existing ODBC entry
in the windows odbc administrator (odbcad32.exe).

Live Tile - Project Siena App

I understand that it is not possible to create / configure a live tile within Project Siena.
But is it possible to add this functionality once the project has been transferred to visual studio.
I have been looking online and have seen some examples of creating a live tile but I have no idea where the code should go within the project.
Any help would be most appreciated.

as you've noticed Live Tiles are not supported in Siena Beta 2. If you want to invest time in experimenting with a homegrown solution in this area, I can provide a hint for a starting point. That said, please be aware that once you start modifying the published
package you are completely at your own risk and any modifications you do today are not guaranteed to work in the future as the layout of the published package is implementation detail and not an interface.
You can take a look at js/init.js in the published package. It contains the initialization logic of the published app and you might find it to be a useful starting point.

Live tiles for emails and people app not updating.

I just got a new WP8 Nokia 822 this week and started seeing that I am not able to access my emails from the tiles. When I hit the tile it just comes back to the tiles. When I finally get to the emails I will delete one and the number on the tile does not change nor can I re access the emails. I turn phone off and on, get into the email and the one I deleted is there again.
Also, when I go to the people app I am trying to filter my contact list. I have unchecked facebook about ten times and the contacts are still showing up on my contact list. I tried to go into one of my contacts to add a picture and it keep kicking me back to the list.
I wasn't sure if I would like this phone to begin with, now I am really not liking it. Anyone else having these types of problems?

This is not normal at all.
Try doing a hard reset; go to Settings tap About and then tap reset your phone. This will reset your phone to factory defaults. All data and loaded applications will be deleted.
If that doesn't work get a replacement.

SOLVED - Weather App Doesn't Update Live Tile, Xbox (Games, Music, Video) App stuck at "Signing In" Help?

I'm running Windows 8 Pro (RTM -> TechNet). Everything seemed OK the first day of use. Now onto the next day, I can't "Sign In" to any of the Xbox Apps and the Bing Weather app doesn't update its Live Tile with local weather. Other tiles/apps like Finance
appear to be fine.

I am able to sign-in to the SkyDrive App without issue, and the Store App works fine as well. I have tried uninstalling Games, Music, and Video apps and reinstalling to correct the issue, no dice.

It appears to end up having been a time sync issue. I must have only been off a couple of seconds?!? I decided to try Armed! and it reported a difference in Time when creating my profile for the game and I was like.. hmmm. So I went ahead and hit Internet
Time settings (under Date and Time in Control Panel) and did a Update Now with time.windows.com. I am now able to login on all the apps I was having issues with before where it was stuck at "Signing In".

IPad connected to Microsoft Live mail. Messages deleted in Live website do not sync and delete from iPad.

My iPad 3rd Gen running iOS 7. It is connected to Microsoft Live email, and I have it syncing 30 days of messages. I frequently use the outlook.com website to read and delete messages. When I look at my iPad inbox, the messages remain even though I have already deleted them in the website. This behaviour persists whether I am on Wi-Fi or cellular data.
Do I have a configuration set incorrectly, or is this a known issue with MS Live?

My experience is with hotmail not live mail, but might be something to look into. I had to go into the options of my hotmail and enable the ability for the device to update mail. Prior to that, I'd have to delete the same mail off my iPod and iPad, but after I enabled that I could delete off my iPod and have that reflected on my iPad.
So maybe poke around in the settings for live mail and see if there's a setting to allow your devices to delete from the server.

Tile not update - not run background update

Hi,
I write my first Windows Store app, and have a big trouble to frequently update LiveTile.
- I have created sub with code to update tile and add schduled notification
- run sub with ibackgroundtask implemented
- in package manifest added bacgroundtask with system event and timer and entry point to my class with run sub
But nothing happens in application (if i try to run sub at start of app, it update LiveTile, but nothing more, update not raise anymore)
Have anybody idea, what can be wrong?

Microsoft Windows section is not showing up in Installed Updates

I have found two instances of this issue, but not one resolution. I'm attempting to remove KB2670838 from a machine. This update is causing issues with a Dental software pkg, and needs to be removed. I have found this update on my personal machine, but
when I attempted to remove it from the machine at a Dental office I noticed that the entire group called "Microsoft Windows" in the "Installed updates" area of the Programs and features\ Control Panel is not there. It is not minimized,
it's just missing. I have read about this on
social.technet.microsoft.com and there was no resolution, and on answers.microsoft.com
with no resolution.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person struggling with exact issue. I've rebooted, upgraded, re-installed, pulled all my hair out as nothing works.
The biggest dissapointment with this thread is that nobody seems to have responded with a solution.
And yes I've managed to pull together enough intellegence to tick the box "sync to outlook" in iTunes - still nothing man.
Definately does not sync from phone to PC and is very hit and miss on PC to Phone. In other words now running 2 seperate calendars - Not helpful Jan.
