Microsoft Lync 2013 Free Trial?

I see that Microsoft Lync Server has a free trial offered, but I do not see Microsoft Lync Online free trial. Is this available? We do not want/need Lync on our server but we want to test Lync Online before we purchase anything.

  • Project 2013 free trial setup.exe module doesn't work

    Hi there,
I installed the Project 2013 free trial and it opened with 7zip, but now the issue is the setup.exe.  When I click on it, I get an error message "The specified module could not be found".  What do I do from here?

    Hi There,
There might be some wrong file association or a module missing. I would suggest you to uninstall both Project 2013 free trial and 7zip and then first install Project 2013 and check if it works.
Once you are sure that Project 2013 trial works, you can install 7zip.
    Happy troubleshooting...

  • Activate Microsoft Lync 2013 basic to full version.

    Hi,
In our customer environment around 5000 machines have been installed with LYNC 2013 Basic, however We have the licensed LYNC 2013 full version need to replace LYNC 2013 basic version What is the best way to achieve this.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Madhan

    Hi Tanders,
This is what you need to do:
    1.  Take that download and run lyncentry.exe /extract (when prompted, drop the files into a new folder)
    2.  Inside of the lyncentry.ww it creates, edit a file called "config.xml"
    3.  Change the "Display Level" Line to:  <Display Level="None" CompletionNotice="No" SuppressModal="no" AcceptEula="Yes" />
    4.  Make sure to remove the <!-- and --> at the begiinning and end of the line.
    5.  Then, you are going to publish the setup.exe in the top level folder.   You must upload the entire folder and its sub folders to Intune (there is a checkbox to upload all the subfolders as well)
    6.  When prompted to provide command line options, use:  /config lyncentry.ww\config.xml
That should be it.  It will completely unattended and silently.
    Hope that helps.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 Free/Busy Information Issue

We have several users that cannot see the free/busy information of another user in their Outlook 2013 calendars.  Creating a new Outlook profile for the user and repairing office solves the issue for a short period of time.  Users are running Windows
8 64 bit, Windows 7 32bit and 64bit with Office 2013.  Our Exchange server is 2010 version 14.03.0158.001.  I have included screenshots of the issue.

I have been working with Microsoft on this issue.  The patches below are suppose to fix this issue.  We are still currently testing them.

  • Visio 2013 free trial crashes every time I try to open it

I just got done downloading a trial version of the 32-bit Visio Professional 2013. Every time I try to open the program, the program freezes & I get the following message on the Visio startup screen:
Microsoft Visio has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    What am I to do?

    Hi,
Have you ever checked the event logs? Anything useful there? If you haven't check it yet, I would suggest you to do so as it usually contains some information about software crash issue.
Also, third party add-in is a common cause of Office startup issues, so I would suggest we first perform a quick check on this. Starting the application in
Safe Mode is a great way to find out if the problem is caused by any add-in:
Press Win + R and type "visio /safe" in the blank box, then press
    Enter.
If Visio starts in safe mode, it indicates a conflict with an add-in. Please try to disable the add-ins one at a time (Go to
File>Options>Add-Ins, in the Manage list, click
COM Add-Ins, and then click Go), then restart Visio to verify result. This will allow you to figure out which add-in is causing the issue.

    Hi,there,
The rule setting should be same as in Exchange 2010,you can configure it via outlook or OWA if you have full access permission. I also believe it should be something related to Repliation, would you please check the event log to see if the
AD and Exchange replication has completed.
In some cases, replication can take longer depending on how many AD sites and Exchange servers in the environment:

  • Lync 2013 vdi RDS windows 2008R2

Hi, I have installed VDI on win2008R2 server with RDS make all configuration and it Works fine.
I have Win7 RDP installed VDI and updateted all RDP. I have USB WEBCAM and I configured remoteFx to use USB webcam and it Works with Win2008R2 RDS audio and Video.
I have Win 8.1 only installed VDI and change settings in RDP with WEBCAM internal and it Works.
I have another win 8.1 and installed VDI driver OS=64bit but VDI driver=32bit - local office = 32bit. I have configuret RemoteFX in local Group Polices. In RDP I can see USB internal WEBCAM -
Then I connect RDP I get Audio but not any Video.
I have tried to remove RemoteFX config in Local GRP, no effect.
Is there a conflict with Office 2010/office 2013 Lync and DVI or VDI driver should be 64Bit or ??,
I can connect from diffrent machines to same USER and that Works, but not from One machine.
    Please help me

    Hi ERAVN,
If you are using Remote Desktop Services, the Lync VDI plug-in bitness (that is, whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit) must match the local computer’s operating system bitness. The bitness
of the operating system on the local computer and the operating system on the virtual machine do not need to match.
For more details, please refer to the following articles.

  • T440P [20AN] - Lync 2013 Crashing When Sharing Desktop - Intel Driver

    Hello,
After updating to the latest video drivers from the ThinkVantage Update Retriever, our Lync clients crash when sharing desktop on our T440P series and X240 series.  I noticed when I uninstall the video driver I am able to screen share without incident.  Also, if I update the driver from Windows Update I am able to share successfully.  We use the update retriever and thininstaller to install our drivers in our environment.  I have tried uninstalling the Lync updates all the way down to the base version and experience the same issue at every level.  It crashes 100% of the time when sharing desktop.  I have tested it on T440p machines in our environment that do not have the latest display driver, and no crashes occurred.  Here are the specifics:
    Thinkpad X240 [20AL]

Just as an updated to this:
I'm still waiting on updated drivers to fix the issue, however, there is a workaround.  If you disable Desktop Composition screen sharing will work.
Control Panel -> Performance and Information Tools -> Adjust Visual Effects -> Uncheck “Enable desktop composition

From the snippet of the log, it appears that the product installation has been corrupted. Probably, try to repair it from Control Panel first and then test the command again?
Also, is it Microsoft Lync Basic 2013?
