Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service user store backup module detected items having pool ownership conflict during import.

Dear Team,
I have two Enterprise lync 2013 pools, abcPool and abcpool1. abcPool1 has got two servers, Server1 and server2. and abcpool has one FE server named "Server 3". and they have pool pairing.
Replication was fine between them when i had only one FE server in each pool, one day FE service broke on one of the FE server on abcpool1 and failed to start so i had to do failover to another pool, at that time i introduced one more FE in abcPool1, that
why now 2 FEs in abcPool2. Server1 FE service was resolved by reinstalling the binaries. However after that im unable to get the backupservice state to normal, i tried the below articles with no luck,

  • Error Upgrading from the Evaluation Version of Microsoft Lync Server 2013

    Hi,
I try to upgrade from Evaluation to full Version using:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg521005.aspx
    but after i run: msiexec.exe /fvomus server.msi EVALTOFULL=1 /qb
    i get a popup:
"Another version of this product is already installed. installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel."
Get-CsServerVersion :-> Microsoft Lync Server 2013 (5.0.8308.0): Evaluation license key installed.
    Any ideea?

    Hi Iulius
As your upgrading the Licence on the Lync 2013 FE it shouldn't care about the Lync 2010 Environment. As your moving from Eval to Full Licence on 2013. I have come across the below url that might help.
    http://pei.com/2013/03/how-to-change-lync-license-from-evaluation-to-licensed/
    http://jackstromberg.com/2013/02/how-to-activate-lync-evaluation-to-licensed-version/
I would personally go with from Lync Management Shell with Elevated Permission
    cd /
cd /d: (Other what other drive letter)
    cd /Setup\Amd64\Setup
    msiexec.exe /fvomus Server.msi EVALTOFULL=1 /qb
But that's just me Id rather run the command from the directory than pointing to it.

  • Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Control Panel "Navigation to the webpage was canceled"

i'm facing this issue on the last 2 days.My Lync server 2013 was seted up a month ago and everything went fine on the installation.
    Lync server 2013 on Windows 2008R2 SP1.
I could login to the Control Panel (using domain administrator credentials), create users (including myself) manage clients etc.
i didn't login to Lync server for at least a week, beacause i didin't have any other user to add. When time came to add a new user to Lync, i got this error whenever i try to open Control Panel.
i didn't change anything during this time, so i'm really confused by this.
i've checked everything from the start and all seem to be in place.
i also can't open the admin page from the local host as i get an error
    HTTP error 403.4 - Fobidden.
i tried also to create new certificates for Lync server, but issue remains.
Also, any solutions i've read for this problem doesn't work as everything is placed correct as other users suggest.
Can anyone please help me further?
    Cheers,
    Elias

Ok I had the same problem, I missconfigured the admin simple url in topology builder (TB) which I fixed.  Also the default certificate in the FE server did not have a SAN entry for the "admin" simple url (which was an error).
So I corrected the admin address in TB republised it, redid step two on the FE, reissued adn replaced the old cert.  The new cert had the corrected admin simple url.  Checked IIS on the server and made sure that the internal web server had the
    right certificate, restarted IIS.
The default Lync control pannel still did not come up, I rebooted the server, the closest I got was being prompt for my credential which it did not accept.
Finally control pannel came up with https://localhost/cscp but I got prompted becuase of a certificate missmatch:
but it still worked!!! Very very wierd.  I have not changed CA servers.  I am interested about why this happened....

    Hi
That link works fine, did you register at all as the sites requests? Once you have registered it will give you the option to download with a download manager.
    Do you get this far?
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Design lync server 2013 for 20000 users, licenses required

    Hi,
for 20000 users, required features are IM/presence, Archive, external access thats it with HA. also its hyperv.
    is below configuration sufficient?
4 FE enterprise server,  2 SQL mirrored, 2 Edge servers, 1 SQL witness
20000 lync client license :- is there any client, which is not thick???
    20000 standard cals
    4 server cals
    3 SQL licenses
    am i missing anything here??

If you build those servers out to the full specs mentioned in
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg615015.aspx you should be fine.
The client software license is included with Office Pro Plus or can be purchased separately.
The standard cal gets you IM and peer to peer AV.  Enterprise will get you conferencing and desktop sharing (see a breakdown here:
    https://mspartner.microsoft.com/en/wi/pages/solutions/downloads/lync-2013-licensing-guide.aspx)
You'd want 4 Lync server licenses, correct.
You'd only need two SQL server licenses as the witness can be SQL Express.
As for missing... just Windows server licenses if you need them.

  • The Director role is optional in Lync Server 2013 - could anyone please explain why the director server has lost its importance??

Could anyone please explain why the director has been removed from spotlight as it had much importance in LYNC 2010 and now being an optional role in LYNC server 2013.[any call flows regarding director servers would be much useful]

    Hi SJ Praveen,
A Director is a server running Lync Server 2013 that authenticates user requests, but does not home any user accounts. Lync 2013 Front End servers have the same registrar service and functionality
    as the Director.
The Director isn't providing any special functionality. If the Director goes down, all pools would become inaccessible when the clients queried DNS for the SRV record until an administrator
makes a manual internal DNS change that points users to a Front End pool to handle the sign-in request from Lync clients. Microsoft has made the Director functionality relevant for organizations that have specific security requirements, such as allowing all
external users to register to a specific internal server instead of the Front End servers. This server role is merely optional and not needed for most Lync Server 2013 deployments.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How to reinstall Lync server 2013 Core Component Server Applications

Hi Would like to know how to register back the core server applications and where can i find the priority list. I incidentally
removed the server applications (ClientVersionFilter, IIMFilter, VoIP Apps and EumRouting and Outbouding) when i removed my MSPL script application from the pool. I missed out to put my script
app name after pool name when i run the command remove-cstrustedapplication. Then, it removed all the core apps from that pool.
I found that .am files and .exe files are still in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Core and tried
to register back using cmdlets but not very sure about the priority of the apps. Or can I install RTCHost.exe? Now Outgoing call is not working. Please kindly help. Thanks in Advance.

Oh.. thank you very much both
Saleesh and Eric. I will try it.
What I did is that I used the cmdlets New-CsServerApplication and registered the server apps (checked the server apps
list from testing fe server) like how I register MSPL script app. But I may miss out some components since testing fe server uses Standard Edition. I registered my
MSPL script app back too, but after a while Lync Front End Service keeps on stopping.  I am not sure that
MSPL script or missing components which one causes to stop front end service. Now I am checking the event viewer logs.
If I run add-remove Lync component wizard on the server, will it remove any other settings like removing users from
pool? or it just install/unstall lync server core components only?
    Many thanks!

  • Please help me resolve the Lync server 2013 deployment error: "An error occurred while applying SQL script for the feature BackendStore."

I am getting an error in "Step 2 - Setup or Remove Lync Server Components" of "Install or Update Lync Server System" step.
"An error occured while applying SQL script for the feature BackendStore. For details, see the log file...."
Additionally, all previous steps such as: Prepare Active Directory, Prepare first Standard Edition server, Install Administrative Tools, Create and publish topology are done without any errors. The user that I used to setup the Lync server is member of:
    Administrators
    CSAdministrator
    Domain Admins
    Domain Users
    Enterprise Admins
    Group Policy Creator Owners
    RTCComponentUniversalServices
    RTCHSUniversalServices
    RTCUniversalConfigReplicator
    RTCUniversalServerAdmins
    Schema Admins
I have tried to re-install all the things and started to setup a new one many times but the same error still occurred. Please see the log below and give me any ideas/solutions to tackle this problem.

  • How do I enforce "Show My Picture" instead of "Hide My Picture" in Lync Server 2013?

I was scouring TechNet and the web for a script that could perform the same task as one that I previously used for Lync 2010.
In Lync 2010, we had already used Lync policy to enforce that only the Active Directory photo could be used. One thing that we couldn't set via policy however was the ability to complete remove the "Hide My Picture" option in Lync 2010 client.
This left users with the ability to freely switch between showing the Corporate photo or no photo. I did eventually find and make use of script that constantly checked for this setting switch, then switched all users back to the desired "Show My Picture"
setting. I don't recall who wrote it, but it's easy to find on technet. As we started to move more and more users to our Lync 2013 enterprise pool, I noted that even though the script was running, the setting seemed to be changeable. A closer look revealed
that the script didn't function correctly against SQL for our 2013 pool.
I took the concept and applied it to Lync Server 2013 after studying the differences in Userdata. In Lync 2013, because UserData is in .zip, you need to convert it to 2010 format XML to use logic intended for Lync 2010. My script will extract 2013 data,
convert it to 2010, query for users who are set to "Hide My Picture" and then export any guilty users to an edited2010 XML. The script then converts this to 2013 Format .zip, and uploads the data for these users only. I chose to use Update-CSUserData
insted of Import-CSUserData as this avoids having to restart my Front End. I then use a scheduled task on my Front End server which runs this script every hour.
Please note: You can use this script, but I guarantee nothing about it's functionality, and I am not responsible for how you positively/negatively use it. You should always test things in a Lab Environment. Furthermore, this script was run on a relatively
smaller Enterprise system in which we are by default set to "Show My Picture" and already assigned as part of our user policy the ForceADPhoto attribute. This means that running the script is less intensive on my FE than say on a FE with 10,000 users
where none of the users were set to "Show My Picture". Please keep this in mind when planning to execute against your FE. You may want to edit my script and insert the -UserFilter or -WhatIf in the Export-CsUserData UpDate-CsUserData.
Anyways, I hope this solves the similar issue for many of you Lync 2013 administrators. Please feel free to share my work with others if it does, and also give this post some good feedback and/or mark my post as the answer to your problem.

  • SQL Server Sizing for Lync Server 2013

    Hi,
We are planning to install Lync Server 2013 with 800 users, but I can find any information about the SQL Server instance sizing.
Can anyone give me an estimation or prior experience with similar installations? I need to know Disk size, memory an CPU number.
    Thanks in advance.

There are a few variables to consider.  Are you turning on monitoring, archiving, and is enterprise voice enabled?  Is persistent chat enabled?  Is it virtualized?  Is this Lync enterprise edition or standard with a portion of the
databases hosted on full SQL?  Are you required to retain any information or logs for a specific amount of time?  Are you keeping SQL backups local with maintenance plans and for how long?
I would suggest not going below 16GB for a SQL Server, but you may not need much more.  If it's virtual I'd throw 4 cores at it at least and disk space will vary based upon what you're doing and how long you want to keep things.  Thick provision
those drives and make sure the logs and databases are on separate partitions.

What am I trying to do?
I have tried installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 7 Setup on a fresh install of Windows Server 2012 R2 but it gets stuck when running the setup exe on Step 8 of 14 “Mailbox Transport Service” I have included full

Exchange is currently running in the envirmonet on 2010 Sp3 I am installing 2013 CU7 fresh so I can migrate the databases over.
    What am I running?
2 X DC on domain and forest functional level 2008R2 both writable
1 X fresh install of Windows 2012 R2 which is domain joined
    What have I tried?
Checked Ipv6 is enabled on all DC NICS and Existing Exchange Servers
    Rebooted every server
    Run setup as Administrator
My account is part of the domain Enterprise Admin group
Tried adding "Exchange Server" or "Exchange Enterprise Servers" to the group policy and doing the relevant gpupdate /force and reboot :
    Computer Configuration Windows Settings
    Security Settings + Local Policies
User Rights Assignment Mange auditing and security log
Turned off firewall on DC and Exchange Server even stopped the service
Turned off all AV on the DC and Exchange Server
Checked I could telnet to global catalog servers on port 3268 which I can
Checked the global catalog records existed in DNS which they all do
Done the obvious ping tests all round which confirms connectivity
Schema has been prepared using appropriate commands before running the setup exe
    setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IacceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
Making sure the following path has full permissions:
    EXCHANGE14:\Current\Release\Shared\Datacenter\Setup
Restarted Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service
    DcDiag all looks good
What have I noticed that is suspicious?
