Microsoft Messenger help...
Is there some way I can delete recent users on Microsoft Messenger on my iMac? Before I sign into Messenger, there is a list of email addresses from other users who at some point or another have signed in on my Messenger using their own personal sign-in name. I want to know if there is some way I can delete that list of email addresses (sign-in names). Any help is appreciated!
P.S. "Since (said application) is not an Apple product, you should go somewhere else for help is really getting old. Real old"
In all fairness, Templeton is pointing Ryan in the direction to get better help and at the same time is helping others find answers to their questions.
Most online forums serve two purposes, not just one. They 1.) Offer help to the person posting the question and 2.) Provide ongoing help for those who search these forums for answers.
Not to be offensive to Ryan but Messenger has nothing to do with Mac and Windows compatibility. He's most likely posted this message here because he associates Messenger with Windows. A lot of Mac folks lump all Microsoft products (Office, Messenger, Windows, etc.) together as "Windows", which is akin to a Windows user lumping iLife, QuickTime and iPods together as Mac OS X. But this isn't correct. We're talking about Apple and Microsoft products.
The spirit of folks who post LOTS of answers here isn't to belittle anyone. It's to help. Helping someone doesn't always mean spoon feeding an answer. It includes guidance and education as well.
Very sincerely, bill

Microsoft Messenger Live MSN (Video Camera) Help
Hey guys how are you doing?
I HONESTLY don't know how to use my Mac OS X tiger at all.. Barely... essentials
Ok.... HERE IS THE QUESTION
I have an account in hotmail and I use MSN to contact all my friends... WORKS FINE on the WindowsXP with the old camera and all.
Now!!!!
WHY if my mac's camera works fine (and NO, I am not using it in another program or running another program), when I download a version of MSN chat on my mac it doesn't allow me to use the camera???
I don't understand I even called Apple and they said they are not trained for MSN messenger...
Please help
(also my friends on MSN all have Windows not Mac).
I have already downloaded version 6.0 and 7.0 from Mactopia (it doesn't work; i can only Chat but without the use of the camera).
I would greatly appreciate your help
THANK YOU
Sincerely Kathrena
P.S: Please be EXTREMELY detailed when giving me instructions =).Microsoft Messenger for Mac does not do Video/audio, but is said to be coming in v8 at sometime this year.
The only way on MSN is.

I need to open an incredibly important document... but somehow, and I have absolutely not a clue as to why, it "became" a Microsoft Messenger file. In other words, I click on the document, and Messenger opens up. What the heck happened and how do I recover this file?!?!!? I don't even have a Messenger ID, so I am not sure if I should make one. Please help. Thank you very much in advance.
Hi,
You have the desktop version of Reader/Acrobat DC but posted the question in the wrong forum. This forum (All Communities > Reader/Acrobat DC for mobile) is for the mobile version.
On your Windows computer, please try opening the PDF document in other non-Adobe PDF viewers to see if the picture turns gray. You can even drag and drop your PDF document to Google Chrome (web browser) to open it.
If most of the PDF viewers that you tried show the gray box, you can conclude that the PDF document (generated by Microsoft Word 2013) itself is faulty. It means that Microsoft Word 2013 has bug(s) in converting Word to PDF.
I'd recommend visiting the Microsoft Word 2013 Support site to get answers.

Hope this helps. -
Microsoft messenger contacts to address book
Hi everybody,
I am trying to figure out a way to export my microsoft messenger contacts to address book. Everything I tried with .csv files did not import in address book (address book says it is not a valid file). Is there a way to export these contacts to vcards, which should import into address book? Or, is there any other way to do this? All the help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
ImkeEdit the csv file in Excel or Numbers (or even TextEdtit) and make sure there isn't any problems with the file. Address Book can import a csv.

Microsoft messenger reading as a hard drive image on desktop
I've just got my mac, downloaded microsoft messenger for mac and i don't know what's gone wrong but theres a icon on my desktop reading "microsoft messenger" and when I try to eject it is says "the disk microsoft messenger is in use and could not be ejected. try quitting applications and try again"
Is there any way to resolve this?
ThanksSoftware for Mac OS X usually comes packed as a ".dmg" or ".pkg" file. If you have downloaded the file from Mactopia (Microsoft's Mac page) then it's dmg. Double-click on one of these files and it will get mounted like a real partition or removable device (e.g. like a usb stick). If you didn't change the default settings of Safari (the built-in web-browser) downloaded dmg-files are mounted automatically this way.
Just double-click the icon on your screen and wait for a window to pop up that indicates to drag-and-drop the "Microsoft Messenger" icon to the "Applications" folder. Do that. This way you install software in Mac OS X (i.e. by dragging it into your Applications folder). Now the program should be available for you to use.
If you still can't remove or delete the icon on your desktop try rebooting your machine. Afterwards you should be able to delete the downloaded dmg-file (you won't need it anymore).
Hope this helps. Let me know if that solved your question.

Microsoft Messenger for Mac--makes me go crazy!
I have just done a full system restore, and as my friends are all crummy windows users, i installed Microsoft Messenger 5.0. Normally, when i sign in my status is always 'appear offline', but now, my status is always online.
How can i choose to always appear offline like 3 days ago?
*nathanOla,
I had the same (small) problem at first. I'm not sure from your description whether it is a small problem or a bigger one, but here's what I did to set it to "offline":
Now, when you click on the MSN icon it automatically log on, right? Your settings are probably set to show yourself being online. Just log off again and choose "sign in with a different account" and you should see a screen which gives you the option how to show yourself whenever you sign in. So choose the offline option and this should be your new settings for when you're logging in. Tell me if this helps,

Any way to use webcams with Microsoft Messenger?
Hi everyone,
Because all my friends are windows users, I use Microsoft Messenger talk to them. Is there a way to use my inbuilt iSight camera with MSN? Also, is there a way to have MSN running through iChat?
Thanks,
Charlie
p.s. Do you have to have an account with .mac to use iChat?Hello Charlie
Here are some thoughts you can consider in addition to the good suggestions you have already received.
(1) If you want to run an Mac OS X client for the Microsoft Messenger Server on your iNtel Mac, you can use either Mercury Messenger or aMSN. Both can do text and video (but NOT audio) with your Messenger contacts, so use which ever you find more reliable easier to use.
(2) As an alternative, because your iNtel Mac can use Boot Camp, VMware Fusion™, or Parallels™ to run Windows® software, you can choose which method you want to use, add the required software to your iNtel Mac (if you have not already done so), and then install and use the same Windows® Messenger application that your contacts are using to video chat with them.
The Windows drivers for your built-in iSight and your other Mac hardware are on the disk with Boot Camp so, after you have installed Windows, you can install the iSight driver and use your built-in iSight if you like. If you need more help on this, search or post in Boot Camp discussions category
(3) You CAN "have MSN running through iChat" via Jabber, but ONLY for TEXT chat. Here are some help sources:
iChat to MSN Through Jabber,
iChat Jabber Tutorial (site is currently slow or perhaps off-line), and
Jabber Servers
There is a blog summarizing the above at HOWTO - Use MSN, Yahoo!, or ICQ in iChat
The Jabber connection can allow you to connect for video or audio with other iChat (Mac) uses, but, at least the last time I tested it, it offered only TEXT connections to MSN, Yahoo!, or ICQ users.

Microsoft Messenger won't sign in..
Hi,
My problem is, as you can read in the title, Microsoft Messenger. I downloaded the application from Microsoft's web site (v 6.0.3) and copied it to my Applications folder. I have both a Gmail ID and a Hotmail ID to connect to Microsoft's Messenger network.
From both IDs, I can't sign in to my account. There are no problems with my accounts. I use can use them on another Mac or a PC. I tried deleting my .plist files but that didn't work.
Is there anybody can help me? Anyone having the same problems?Hi Alison
I appreciate that this isn't a solution to your problem, however it might help him at least talk to his friends for now.

This will also allow him to use his webcam with his friends unlike the standard version of msn.
Happy New Year

Microsoft Messenger only bounces sometimes
Hello
I have some problems with my Microsoft Messenger. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My preferences are set to make the icon jump every time I receive a new message, but it only seems to work sometimes.
One day it may work the whole day, and others day it won't work at all. I know this seems like an odd problem, but I would be really glad if it could be fixed
Kind regards
VOSI've done that now, didn't seem to help
Any other suggestions? -

Selecting Profile Picture for Microsoft Messenger
I have imported all of my pictures into iPhoto '09. I can see them there.
In Microsoft Messenger I want to select one of the photos for my profile. When I click the "+" to bring up the mini finder window, it takes me to the Pictures folder. In there I see the iPhoto Library but it is "grey" and there is no arrow to expand to see the pictures etc. Is there something that I need to do to make the pictures available in iPhoto?
Thanks for the help!Read Terence Devlin's treatise on file access for use outside of iPhoto. It will tell you how to do what you want to do.

Hi,
I know this isn't technically an Apple problem, but I have a problem with Microsoft Messenger for Mac, and I can't think of a better forum to post it on...
Messenger used to work fine on my iMac. But then I decided to change my Windows Live ID, so that my account used a different e-mail address. Now, when I log into Microsoft Messenger on my iMac, using this new address, I log in and everything appears to be fine. BUT...
- All of my contacts appear to be offline, even when they aren't
- I can't contact any of my contacts, and they can't contact me
- My Display Picture keeps reverting back to my iMac's Account Picture, every time I restart Microsoft Messenger
Has anyone else heard of or had a similar problem? What can I do? Is Microsoft Messenger now completely messed up on my iMac with no way of getting it working again?*"I can't think of a better forum to post it on..."*

Can I use my IChat IVideo with Microsoft Messenger?
t's great that I have a camera to do video conference on my new macbook, problem is all my family uses Microsoft Messenger to video conference and I'm left out. Any software or downloads to make theses compatable? My family doesn't want to download AOL since thats not their service provider. Any other ideas or solutions? Thanks
you can use mercury here, this software is a open source and free. Is working with MSN. But I never try it. I heard that the sound does'nt work but maybe this issue is corrected now.
http://www.mercury.to/
Also the best way to video chat with PC user is to use Skype. Your friend need to install skype too, but the experience is very close than the iChat experience. But iChat is beter anyway, we hope that apple will make iChat for PC.
