Microsoft office and iWork doesn't work with lion

Every time i try to open an excel/nubmers file i get the error, "power pc apps are no longer supported"
I have run all updates, but no luck. do i have to re-instal the programs???

Office 2008 and above is supported by Lion. Like Dave B. says, if your version is older you must upgrade. Considering it's probably more than 5 years old it's time to upgrade.

I just purchased OSX Lion and while it was downloading I began to read the reviews. I saw multiple comments that MS Office doesn't work with Lion. I forced a shutdown on my MacBook Pro because I couldn't see any other way to stop the LIon download. Now with it back on, the download is paused. Len , MS2008 does require Rosetta. Ms2011 does not.

That model begin to be supported only in the very latest version of Lightroom, version 5.4. You will either need to upgrade Lightroom, or else use the latest version of the free Adobe DNG converter (version 8.4) to create digital negative copies of your raw images. Then you can import those DNG files into the Lightroom that you have now. The choice is yours.

What version of word do you have? The TS3938 sounds like it's a PowerPC app- written for an old architecture that is no longer supported in Lion. If this is the case, your files are fine- you just need a newer version of word that will run in Lion in order to open them. The newest version (2011) should be readily available anywhere, and has worked fine for me ever since I switched to Lion on release day....

Who can help me with that problem. Was talking to the Microsoft hotline and they couldn't solve the problem. It doesn't really launch anymore. It doesn't open properly and looks like frozen.

To follow up with another question. I was looking into uninstalling office and they say:
Step 2: Remove the Microsoft Office 2011 folder
On the Go menu, click Applications.
Drag the Microsoft Office 2011 folder to the Trash.
I do not know what they mean by the Go menu; I cannot believe how little I know .

TP T60 with VISTA and dock doesn't work with DVI

I have Lenovo T60 with vista. I have advance dock from lenovo. DVI on dock doesn't work correctly. External display is distort, noisy.
After start of Vista is all right. But when I use blank white page monitor switch off and on in a circle. Monitor is in good order. Advence is in good order. (I change it 3 times).

ok, i think i understand you now. you have an advance dock with a third-party PCI graphics card and can't get it to work under vista. my best recommendation is to try different drivers. i am not 100% positive but your PCI card might have to have the same GPU as your T61 to be compatible. perhaps someone else with more experience on this can help.

How to open .snp files with Microsoft Office 2007 installed? It works with MS Office 2003 but not with MS Office 2007!

I have MS Office Pro Plus 2007 installed on my computer. I also have MS Office 2003 installed on another computer. Snapshot viewer is installed on both. My work snapshot files works with MS Office Access 2003 but not recognized by MS Office Access 2007. It would not allow me to save them either! Is it a problem with FireFox (3.6.8)? However, I do not have problem opening them up using IE7/8 on both computers. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you clicking a download link from an email message on an OWA or webmail site? Do you get the open/save dialog for the .snp files? In that case, you should be able to associate them with the Snapshot viewer. If Firefox does not remember this and you have to do it each time, it usually indicates that the server is not sending a specific content type, just the generic "this is some binary content" content type.

MobileMe preferences button and menu doesn't work with Firefox 4 on Mac OS X 10.6.6

When I login to my MobileMe account I have two buttons on the top right of the page: Preferences and My Account name.
Both I can select but when I do I cannot press either one of the menu entries that show. So I cannot change anything or create folders in iDisk for instance. All did work on Firefox version 3.6. It also works on Safari.
What settings do I have wrong? I like Firefox more than Safari.

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
      loads select your language and click on the Continue
      button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
      Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
      mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
      of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then
      the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART
      info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on
      the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
      from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
      Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
      partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
      the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files.

Which version? If it is 2004, then you are out of luck - Lion no longer supports apps written for PPC processors, only Intel. There is no solution, either go back to Snow Leopard or upgrade to a later version of Office (2008 or 2011), or switch to another bracnd (OpenOffice, iWork).

The microsoft on-screen keyboard doesn't work with firefox. I try to enter type and it jumps around the page. I can't select anything on drop down lists.

I tend to use the on-screen keyboard. For about two months I've been unable to type text in firefox. I can't use dropdown boxes. I have to text to notepad then copy and paste it. I realize this is hardly a critical issue but I've loved using firefox for years and am considering going to another browser if I can't resolve this.

Drag and drop doesn´t work with photoshop

I can't open any files in ps anymore by simply drag and drop the file on the ps app. open with in the context menue doesn't help either, ps is called up, but the file is not opened. looks like some other people had the same problem, but the links are all broken.

You can either reinstall Photoshop, or you can create the ScriptingAdditions folder and download and unzip the file HERE, then put it in the ScriptingAdditions folder. Certificate authentication and Kerberos doesn't work with PPL

Hello,
I have two queries regarding PPL (Portable Protection Library) and certifcate/kerberos authentication:
Neither PPKClientCallbacks::chooseAuthenticationType or PPKClientCallbacks::chooseCertificate are triggered when need to autenticate user when accessing LC rights mangement using the PPL. Only username password authentcation callback is triggered.
Both username password autnetication and client certificate autnetication are enabled in LC server configuration.
Do i need to make additional adjustments to make it work?
Regarding Kerberos authentication, it's documented that PPL supports it, but i don't see any reference to it in the API.
All Kerberos settings are already been made to my setup and t works fine using the web service API.

How do I switch back to 3.6? I use Norton 360 and it doesn't work with Firefox 4. I have uninstalled 4 and try to reinstall 3.6 from my downloads but it deleted 3.6 exe when it installed 4. I WANT 3.6 BACK.

Norton isn't supported on Firefox 4. I don't trust ANY web browser that I can't use Norton on. I had no complaints with it when I had Firefox 3.6. I want to reinstall 3.6 but can't. I have looked all over for a download but every one comes back to Firefox 4.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
