Microsoft Office HUP key

So I recently reset my computer and wanted to reinstall Microsoft Office. I knew I still had the email with the license key so I eventually thought this wasn't going to be a problem. But now, when I enter the product code I got in the email, they tell me
it's not a valid one. Anyone able to help me?

Hi,
This issue may be caused since the product key is still considered to be used in the previous install, and is now being considered invalid.
For this issue, we don't have the access to the product key status. You need to contact the local customer service, explain the scenario in detail, probably you can get the product key reset and use it again. You can find the Global Customer Service
phone numbers from this link below:

  • Can't find 2011 Microsoft Office product key after using Time Machine

I just upgraded my macbook pro to a 512gb crucial ssd. In order for me to do this without downloading any other software off the internet, I bought an external drive and had time machine back up everything. I installed the SSD, started up the computer and had time machine do its thing and booted everything up onto the ssd. Everything went perfectly up, until I went to open up any Microsoft Office application because they required I put in the product key. The last time I put in the product key was when I first bought the macbook pro about 4 years ago(I installed everything using the disc). What I tried to do was boot the computer using the old hard drive and we have the same story.... I need a product key that I don't have. I even tried installing a product key finder and it found no Microsoft Office product key.
Tomorrow my plan is to use time machine to bring me back to the couple minutes before I setup the new SSD. Before I do that, I want to know what your opinions are on this matter or more importantly, what should I do?
    Thanks in advance.

Read the instructions that came with your PIN - they tell you how to get the Product Key from the MS Shop (I think it comes from there, anyhow!)

  • How to retrieve Microsoft Office Product Key  for Mac

Hi there, Hopefully someone might have a suggestion on how to retrieve the Microsoft Office Product Key for Office 2010 on Mac.
Scenario:  Last month, Apple advised me my iMac hard drive may be faulty and would need replacing.  That was done, I restored my iMac from Timeline backup and everything is dandy except I need the Product Key for Office to access any of my documents.  I purchased the product online in my old job, that email address is now no longer valid and I have lost access to the email that the product key was emailed to me in.  I am unable to retrieve the product key from Microsoft without buying a new copy.
I do have Office uploaded on my Macbook Air from the same download/product key, so I have access to the program on the laptop but not the iMac.  Hopefully I can get the product key from the laptop somehow.
Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks :-)

As Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:

Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

  • Microsoft Office Product Key

    Hi
I am planning on getting a new hard drive for my macbook pro and I can't find my Microsoft Office 2011 product key (or installation disk)
If i want to have office on the new hard drive, do I simply have to copy the Applications (and related files) over to the new hard drive, then add the [/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist] file?
Or do I need to reinstall Office from the microsoft website (if so, where would I find this)?
Please correct me if I am wrong

I'd suggest calling Microsoft, since it's their product and they issue and validate the product keys.

  • I need to re-enter Microsoft Office Product Key all the time!

Why do I need to enter the Product Key Number all the time when I open Office programs? I use Microsoft Office Mac 2011 Home & Student. At least every week I need to re-enter the product key number..... Why??

Get in touch with Microsoft support. Let them solve it. That is what I had to do with a similar problem.

  • How to retrieve original Microsoft Office activation key after restoring Windows 7?

I had a operating system self-distruct and could not do anything to get past the BSOD.  Using a recovery CD, I was able to access OneKey Restore which restored WIndows 7.  With my original notebook purchase I purchased Office 2010 and had a valid activation key - and have used Office since that time.  Now that I have restored the OS, I don't know how to find the key again so Office won't run. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks.

    Hi drennman,
Have a look at my answer here:

You may need to call MS to get this sorted out.

  • Microsoft office CD keys. How do you delete/reset the key?

Well I picked up my new macbook and my friend decided to instal microsoft office 2004 on my computer (I know have password locking). But when he did that instead of using one of my two keys still available on the one I purchased from the apple store.... He used a cracked key. Now I can't figure out how to erase the key and input my own key. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

Wipe off all microsoft office files. They will be in these directories:
    /Applications/
    /Applications/Utilities/
    /Library/Application Support/
~/Library/Application Support/ (this "Library" is the one in your "home" folder -- indicated here by the tilde)
    ~/Library/Preferences/
    ~/Documents/
There will be com.Microsoft.application.plist files in the "Preferences" folder along with a folder called "Microsoft".
Getting rid of all microsoft office related files in these folders should clear the installation off your system.

  • Retrieving Microsoft Office Product Key from Time Machine

    Hi All,
I have recently replace my hard drive with a SSD in my Mac book pro late 2011 and carried out a time machine restore, now when I try to open any microsoft office for Mac apps it is requesting my product key and I am unable to close the pop up. I no longer have the product key as I recently moved and mislaid the key is there any way of going into a previous time machine back up to retrieve the key ?
    Thanks in advance.

For the future, somewhere on your boot disk there's a Microsoft Office folder. The next time you get the product key, create a TextEdit document, enter the product key in it and save the document in the MS Office folder. If you restore from Time Machine or a backup, it'll be there. Make recording such key numbers (product keys, authorization codes, etc.) on your computer where you can find them, and you'll thank yourself down the road.

In the box with the disk came the product key, have put it in and it doesnt work. Please help..x

unfortunately - you can not.  you can't even buy outlook by itself at microsoft's own website.
does it have to be outlook?  maybe you can get away with using something else that's outlook compatible.
how about trying Thunderbird for Mac OS?
or maybe you can call apple and let them know you purchase the wrong version - they might give you a break and just pay the difference for the home and business version.
    good luck

Another +1 for Open Office. Not only is it FREE, it can use MS Office templates.
Another solution is MS has Office 2010 in beta form right now to use for free (I think its over in June though).
I prefer Open Office since its simpler and not as dolled up as MS Office is. Just my preference.
A word of warning though, the support for open source software is very limited. So, if you ever need help, good luck. I've recommended Linux and Open Office for many of my past clients and all were thrilled about it being free, but none were too happy when they needed help and found it lacking. Although I use Open Office, I can't belittle the value and usefulness of Micro$oft Office. It's a very developed suite of programs that is well worth its price. The sad part is that most people that use M$ Office only utilize about 10-15% of its potential (pretty much the word processing and table creation stuff) and as a result do not see its full value.
