Microsoft Office Junk

So I recently got my very first Macbook Pro!
I didn't order Office, so I had to get it through my school. This, however, forced me to download everything in the suite.
Now since this is my first Macbook I am really weird about having things on it I don't need that will only take up space.
I only wanted to keep Word and PowerPoint, so I deleted all the excess weight from the other programs (Excel, Outlook, etc.) but there's still certain aspects I'm unsure whether or not I can get rid of.
If anyone has the knowledge to help me figure out what can stay and what can go, I've attached a screen shot of the file.
I know this may be a stupid or weird request, but it's going to bother me if there's stuff on there that's only serving the purpose of taking up space.
I'm use to being trolled on the Microsoft forums when looking for help, so please be gentle.
Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you run the Office installer, you can find a button to customize the Office installation when you see how much space Office takes, so you can choose which applications you want to install. In this case, Microsoft does not force you to install everything.
If you deleted the apps you did not need, there's nothing else to do. That folder is right, and most (if not all) files inside are needed by Word and PowerPoint

  • Is there a system that will run Microsoft Office efficiently?

I have a Mac Mini with 4G RAM. I have Microsoft Office for Mac installed and have upgraded to Mountain Lion. My system is painfully slow. Since I use it for business, this is intolerable. Will and upgraded system be any better? Or is Mac just not capable of handling Microsoft Office (including Outlook) efficiently?

You may need a newer version of Office.
Or, forget about Microsoft entirely and use any number of better alternatives. Running Microsoft junk on a Mac is likely to result in it performing like a Windows PC, which is to say, not well.
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
    Numbers ($19.99)
    Pages ($19.99)
All of the above run exceptionally well on a 4 GB MacBook Air.

  • Macbookpro & Microsoft Office 2004-Entourage shutting down

I have a 4 year old Macbook Pro running Microsoft Office 2004. Entourage started shutting down about 3 weeks ago when I would click on certain emails in both inbox and junk folder (spam emails mostly). I have latest patches, have you heard of this before?
    Is there a fix?

Sometimes Entourage's database would corrupt.  Sometimes you can't fix its corruption.  But you can try with the Entourage Database repair utility in your Microsoft Office folder in the Applications folder.  If it won't repair, hopefully you backed up your data before it last got damaged.  The database file, is in your Hard drive -> Users -> yourname -> Documents -> Microsoft Office Data folder, if you want to dig it out from a backup and try an older version of it.  Be sure not to overwrite your old one, unless you don't mind risking losing some e-mail, contact and calendar entries.

  • I had Microsoft Office installed in my Macbook Air by one of the technicians in the store, it was working fine the first week but after that it started popping a notice saying it cannot verify my suscription online and now I cannot open any documents?

I just bought a Macbook Air almost a month now. When I bought it, the technician installed Microsoft Office 365 as they were having a promotion at the time. However after a week of using it, it started popping up a notice saying that it cannot verify Microsoft Office. I still managed to open the word document but as of today, it will not open. I took it to the Mac store last week, and they said that there was nothing wrong with it and they could not figure out any problem.
I don't know what to do and I am in desperate need of help. I cannot open my documents at all and I have my research paper that I need to finish writing. This is very disappointing and extremely stressful for me. If anyone has any suggestions of how this can be fixed, please let me know. I do not want to lose my hard work =(

Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription - based service. You have to pay for it... and keep paying for it... and paying for it... as in 365 days a year... or lose your hard work.
Office Home Premium is a mere $10 a month, but a convenient annual subscription is only $100 a year. This is a substantial discount to Microsoft's Office 365 business products ($150 / employee / year).
Such a deal! Are you not absolutely thrilled?
Here are some slightly more reasonable alternatives, all of which are compatible with their Office equivalents:
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
    Numbers ($19.99)
    Pages ($19.99)

  • How can I use Microsoft Office on two user accounts on one IMAc?

    Dear all,
I have installed Microsoft Office 2011 on my IMac which I have recently bought. I did this on the (at that time) only user account in place: the administrator account.
A little time after this my wife and I decided it would be much easier to us to make an additional user account on the same computer for my wife (also with administrator rights), so we could have our own settings, desktop preferences etc. So now we have two user accounts/profiles on one Imac, so far so good.
But when my wife signs in on her account, she is not able to use Microsoft Office . Office seems to be only available to the user account on which it has been installed initially: 'my' account.
Can anyone help us out here and tell us how we can make Office available to my wife's user account as well? I understand that the licence of Office is restricted to one computer, but what about two accounts on the same IMac? I mean, it is still one computer, one 'home', one family etc.
We would appreciate your help here!
    Kind regards,
    Jurjen

As long as you installed MS Office into its default location (the top level /Applications folder) it will be available to all user accounts on the Mac.
As far as licensing is concerned you only have to enter the license code once, which you should do right after installing MS Office, in the same admin account you installed it from, by opening any one of the MS Office applications.  There is no additional licensing required for additional user accounts on the same Mac.
Each user account is able to run the Office apps.  The only thing you will have to do is go through an initial setup screen in each user account (but this setup does NOT involve entering any additional license codes).
You may have problems if you installed MS Office in a particular user account (i.e. NOT in the top level /Applications folder).

  • Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application - multiple copies of Office 2013 x32 failing to start, Software Protection Service timing out

We're experiencing a growing problem with our users in several different domains running in to Microsoft Office 2013 x32 'activation' issues.  We use KMS for licensing, which works properly, but some of the machines (~20-30 out of 1000+) sporadically
    throw the following error:
'Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application.  Microsoft Office will now exit.'
We know it's not an issue with the licenses per se, since they work on and off and we can force KMS activation correctly / talk to the KMS servers.
It appears to be an issue with the Software Protection service not starting properly.  In Event Viewer, we see the following:
'Software protection service failed to start due to the following error- the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
    Event 7000'
This is occurring on a variety of machines in a variety of environments, all fully patched with the latest Office updates.  It's inconsistent, and the 'manually restart the Software Protection Service' solution is not viable as it's occurring on many
different workstations.  Office repairs have also been unsuccessful.
Has anyone else come across this? Or have any idea why the Software Protection Service might be sporadically failing?  Maybe an Office update in the last 2-3 months?
    Thanks for any info.

  • Reinstalling Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 - OS 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium on Dell Inspiron

To start at the begining....no, that's not fair, that goes all the way back to March 24th!
My hard drive has been wiped clean twice now...First time was not by MY choice...the guy from India just talked me through it, with no warning of what was going to be the result.  What a nightmare!
This 2nd time when I have "retrieved" my files from my external hard drive...my documents are there....just can't open them!
Following messages when opening Word or Outlook:
"Please wait...."etc. "Configuration in Progress Microsoft Office Home and Business".... which takes forever!
    Then:
"Your AutoCorrect file: c:\users\Tosi\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office\MSO1033.acl, could not be saved.  the file may be read only, or you man not have permission to modify the file."
    Then:
"Word cannot open existing file (Normal)
    In tyring to open Outlook...
Big Red cirlce with an X in it:  Could not install the custom actions.  The form Cache file c:\users\Tosi\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Forms\FRMCACHE>DAT is not valid.  Contact your administrator.
The same message as Word  "Your AutoCorrcet....etc....MSO1033.acl ...etc. "
I have tried to change permissions...no luck.  How to I get FULL control over my own computer?  Please!
When I do finally get Outlook open, nothing is in there.  I looked for my Outlook Data folder and I see that my .pst data file is in 5 places, yet it is not connecting with Outlook.  No mail, address or calendar are in there. (to back
track...the first time I retrieved my stuff off the hard drive everything worked)
Microsoft has promissed numerous times to assit me to resolve these problems through very lovely emails but no one has called to follow up and help me.  I really need help and I am running out of patience.
Soon I will be saying "Goodbye Microsoft!  Goodbye Dell!  Hello Apple!"
    Help please!
    Thank you,
    SMTosi

As per your description, seems the installation of Office have got completely corrupted. I would suggest you to completely remove Office 2010 from your computer and then reinstall it.
For how to remove/uninstall Office from your computer, I would suggest you to use Microsoft Fix It tool:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179
After uninstalling Office, please restart your computer then try a reinstallation. If you don't have the Office 2010 installation source or DVD, please go to this website to get Office 2010 installation package:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/microsoft-office-2010-backup-FX101853122.aspx (you might need to provide the product key of Office 2010)
Hope this helps. Thanks a lot for your patience.

  • Microsoft office 2013 encountered an error during setup in Window 8.1

Initially, I got microsoft office 2013 64bit standard version installed in window 8.1. However, it suddenly got errors when opening office, and closed the program automatically. Therefore, I uninstalled it, and tried to re-install office.
However, I got the error "microsoft office 2013 encountered an error during setup" everytime when I try to install it.
I tried 32-bit and 64 bit version, and tried to install in clean boot, deleted registry, and modified the folder name "Microsoft Help", but none of them works.

Make sure you completely uninstall previous versions of Office. There may be remnants left behind, even after you uninstall Office using the normal procedure. I recommend using the “Fix It” utility to uninstall Office 2013 completely. Please refer to this
article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us you might also follow the manual steps provided on the same page.
If you still having problems, re-registering the Windows Installer and checking permissions on the %TEMP% folder and the C:\Windows\Installer folder to make sure you have full-control. To re-register the Windows Installer run the following commands:
    msiexec /unregister
    msiexec /register

  • "Program files" directory problem during Microsoft Office Customization Installer in non-English versions of Windows

We have a document-level customization solution for Word and are experiencing problems during deployment in an environment running on terminal services. The OS (Windows 2012) is English and Word (2013) is non-English (German).
Installation is done into the "Program Files" folder correctly. But when trying to start a word document linked to the specific template. The "Microsoft Office Customization Installer" pops up with the error.
"There was an error during installation"
    From: file:///C:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto
    Downloading file:///c:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not succeed.
    Exception: ....
System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDonwloadException: Download file:///C:/Programme/[Companyname]/Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not suceed. ---> System.Net.WebException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Programme\[Companyname]\[Productname]\[Productname].vsto'.
    ---> System.Net.WebException: ...... ---> System.IO.DirectoyNotFoundException......
The problem seems to be that the installer is looking for C:\PROGRAMME instead of C:\PROGRAM FILES. C:\PROGAMME is the German localized name of PROGRAM FILES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program_Files).
The installer installs the solution correctly deployed into c:\program files, but when the later a user tries to start it and the Microsoft Office Customization Installer is called, it tries to access the non-existing "c:\programme" folder. This
doesn't exist, because Windows is English.
Is there any thing related to deploying solutions on a platform which has different languages (mixing/matching of OS language and Office language?)
    Thank you for your help

    Hello,
    1. First, I would confirm with you whether you dealt with the localization for your document-level add-in?
    2. Did you use this way to define the Create a class that defines the post-deployment action part of Put the document of a solution
onto the end user's computer (document-level customizations only) and did you get the path with Environment.SpecialFolder enum?
To handle this, I would recommend you consider using Environment.SpecialFolder to set that property.
    Regards,
    Carl

  • Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation compatible with Microsoft Office Powerpoint?

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and need to purchase iWork or Microsoft Office. Does iWork come with a form of powerpoint presentation? If so, is it easy to use and compatible with Microsoft Office presentation software? The latter question is extremely important as we use Microsoft Office primarily at the college.

Yes, Keynote is iWork's PowerPoint equivalent. You can save as a PowerPoint file as well. Very easy to use IMO.

  • How to obtain the table index in word use LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office

I created a word templete and it had several tables. When I use the "Word Edit Cell" function in LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office, the function need "table index", and I didn't find any function to get or set the table index in word document. How can I achieve my attention to write value to specified table cell using the "Word Edit Cell" function?
    Thanks for reply!
    YangAfreet

    Hi yangafreet
You do not need to get the table index for the word edit cell.vi from anywhere. LabVIEW will automatically index all the tables in the document. See the attatched vi for an example.

  • When I open a link to a doc file, it opens in Microsoft Office 2010 as a .bmp file. I opened Firefox options to change what application should be used to open doc files, but it only gives me the option of the general Microsoft Office, not Microsoft Word.

This did not happen on my laptop when I installed the Microsoft Office home & student edition, and my laptop also has Windows 7 and I use Firefox. Please help!

Are you using  Windows Word or Word for Mac?

  • Which is best for converting a novel from Microsoft Office Word file to editable and sharable PDF

I am a writer who needs to convert a Microsoft Office Word File to a PDF file that can be edited, re-formatted and sent to an on line printing company.  They recommended an Adobe PDF - PDX-1a available with Acrobat Professional.  I don't need photos or graphs, etc.  The cover design is Microsoft Graphic Art.  Sizing, of pages will be 5.5 x 8.5.  Number of pages that size approx. 486.
Can you tell me if the PDF Creator is the one I am looking for?

    Good day,
If your Word file is under 100MB in size, our CreatePDF service should do the job for you to create a PDF file. The file won't be a PDF/X-1a, but if there are no photos or graphics, it may suffice. If you must create a PDF that's PDF/X-1a-compliant, you need Adobe Acrobat Professional.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
    Kind regards,
    David

i bought and downloaded iWork when i bought my macbook pro and i used to save my documents on words. then a few weeks ago, i downloaded a free trial of microsoft office but unregistered and deleted it a week after. now i can't save my documents on word. It used to ask me if I want to save my documents on word, now it doesn't. And the W icon keeps on appearing on my dock. Can I return my computer to an earlier date? Please help me. Thanks

No, I don't have a back-up of TIme Machine... to tell you the truth, I have this computer for a few years now and I still don't know how to work all of the apps that are here. Anything else I can do?

  • How do I get rid of the Microsoft Setup Assistant loop? I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word, and stuck in a loop?

I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word (for 2008), and stuck in a loop?
Whenever I select Word Microsoft Setup Assistant appears, asks for feedback, then after selecting okay (both on saying yes or no to feedback) goes on to a registration page. When I click on this it says I've already registered so I just click okay, and then move on to a update page. After this, if I click on Word, the process repeats itself.
As I said, I don't have the disk to reinstall, and can't find the Office Settings to delete as many pages have suggested I should try. Safe Boot restarting also hasn't worked... Really stuck and need Word very soon for work.
If you can help, that would be great, and feel free to ask any questions about the situation as I'm not an expert here.
    Cheers,
    Jack

First, export your contact from iCloud.com and save them on your computer in a safe spot some where (like you desktop).  Use this to help you do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606
Next, on both of your devices, go to Settings > iCloud and turn on contacts and select Merge. Then turn off contacts and select 'Delete form my [device]' when prompted.
Now go back to iCloud.com and select a contact (yes they will all be messed up again) and select Command+A on a Mac or Control+A on a PC to select all of the contacts.  Tap the delete key on your keyboard (or right click /control click a contact and select delete).
You iPhone, iPad and iCloud.com should not be empty for contacts.
Go back to Settings > iCloud on both devices and turn on contacts again (you should not see merge this time).
Next, go back to iCloud.com and import your contacts (those exported .vcards).  You can either drag and drop them into the empty contacts list in your web browser, or you can use the gear icon to import.
You cleaned up contacts should import correctly into iCloud.com and sync to both of your devices.
    Good luck.
