Microsoft office not working in OSX Montain Lion. Help!

Microsoft office (2011 version) is not working in my Mac Air 11' (I bought it last year) and I did not find a way to fix the problem. Anyone had the same problem?

No problems reported here, on three different MACs. I installed Microsoft Office 2011, then updated it to the latest version 14.2.3;

IMovie and Microsoft Office NOT WORKING! PLEASE HELP!

Just recently, out of nowhere, my iMovie and Microsoft Office stopped working; they won't turn on. I have Leopard 10.5, and they had been working on it since recently. Whenever I start iMovie, the "This program has quit unexpectedly" window comes up. Here's what I did. Firstly, I reported the problem to Apple and tried relaunching the program. That didn't work. Then, I deleted anything I had downloaded recently that may have affected it. Nothing. Next, I tried going into Library>Preferences and deleting all files with "iMovie" in the name. Nada. I then opened up disk utility and repaired disk permissions; yup, you guessed it, it didn't work. Finally, I archived and reinstalled Leopard, but it's still not working.
As for Microsoft Office, I have only reported the problem and deleted recent downloads. I haven't tried anything else (excluding the Leopard thing) to fix Office.
Please help ASAP! I need both of these applications for an upcoming project... and I may have to see a Mac Genius after this...

Well, that tells us that it's most likely something in your user account and not with iMovie or Office in general. If you need to get your videos edited right away and don't have time for troubleshooting, you can transfer them to the other account by copying them into the Users -> Shared folder. That would allow you to have access to them from the working account.
As to fixing the problem, you might try asking in the iMovie forum. It's possible that you have a corrupted project that iMovie keeps trying to open by default and that deleting that project might fix the problem. I'm not an iMovie user, though, so I'm not sure. Asking in the iMovie forum will probably get you more informed suggestions.
As to Office, what version is it, and do none of the applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage) launch, or is it just some and if so which one(s)?

Since I've upgraded my macbook pro to the latest software my microsoft office is no longer working. Message says it is no longer supported. Version was 2004 I think but it was working fine. Don't have access to any discs at the moment as they are in shipping with the rest of our stuff coming back to the uk from NZ. Can't open existing documents and doesnt convert downloaded docs into pages either. Any ideas anyone? I'm job hunting so pretty frustrating and urgent.

Because Office 2004 is a PPC-only suite and will not work with Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011 for OS X. Or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, whose functionality is similar to Office 2007 for Windows.

I have just installed microsoft office for mac, but when i try to use word etc the welcome screen pops up but i cant click continue. The colour wheel spins next to my cursor and i cant use the toolbar at the top of the screen. Any ideas?

Sorry for the somewhat terse reply from others to this question, not exactly the way to welcome new Mac users to this forum methinks! The way the forum works changed some time ago and I have to say that although I have used this forum on and off almost since its inception the current iteration is far from intuitive. When you start typing your question, possible previously answered similar questions start appearing below your typing if any of those match your query just click on the thread and it will take you there, hitting enter will post your question, whereas on most forums that would simply initiate a search for answers to your question. I'm sure there is a guide to using the forum, but really it should be more intuitive. Anyway welcome to the world of Macs!!

A 4 year old Macbook Pro should run Lion. Unless its a CoreDue and not a Core2Duo. Remember that PPC computers can not even run Snow Leopard. This was when Apple announced that support for PPC programs would be phased out. Office 2004 is almost 8 years old now. Twice as old as your computer you say needs to be replaced. I can't believe people rush in to install a new system without doing a little bit of research, and the dropping of Rosetta to run old PPC programs was well advertised if you read up on Lion, as was the introduction of Mission Control and Versions. I even read up about them, and I'm not a professional like some who come here. May pay to remember to research in future releases.

Office 2001 will not work with Lion. That is a Power PC App which is no longer supprted in Lion. You should upgrade to Office 2011, Apple iWork, or Open Office.

In my original installation of Office 2011 on a 2007 MBP with OS 10.6.8, I followed the guidelines Tips for a Successful Install. In launching Outlook 2011 for the first time, it recognized that I had Entourage 2004 and I was chose the option to have all the data transferred to Outlook 2011. While that was well over a year ago, I'm fairly certain that I did not need to manually set up my multitude of existing email accounts. Subsequently, I've added new accounts. A couple of months ago, I got a new mid-2012 MBP (non-retina) with OS 10.7.4. I used Pondini's advice , which I found here in the Apple Support Community for OS 10.7, to setup the new MBP from the old MBP with Setup Assistant. Afterwards, I manually installed my applications. I am certain that I did not need to manually setup any email accounts when I launched Outlook 2011.
That said, if you did not fix the problem that you were experiencing with Office 2008 (and more specifically Entourgage 2008) but migrated that data to your new rMBR, then your problem may lie within the old data. You have not provided information on how you installed Office 2011, if your setup of Outlook is as new or datea ported from Entourage, and what troubleshooting steps you have tried. As Kurt Lang suggested, the Microsoft Community would be best with your specific issues as stated.

If this is Office for Mac 2011 then it will work on your new computer. Reinstall it. If you don't have the key code call Microsoft's activation line to get a new key code. Explain that you lost the original key code and want to install Office on your new computer.
