Microsoft office on macbook pro

I just got  a macbook pro and I tried downloading microsoft office and I get a message that OS X does not support microsoft products, what do I do to get this downloaded?

Dear Mandie 419,
With the available new iWorks I think you may not need MS office. Try the following links:

  • Installing Microsoft Office on MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I recently purchased a late 2011 15' MacBook Pro with 4 gb of ram and would like to purchase the 2011 Microsoft Office Suite for Mac, which is 3 gb.  If i download the suite, will my MacBook Pro slow down significantly as a result, or just occupy most of the free space?  Thanks much.

If you got a late 2011 MBP then it came with either a 500GB or 750GB hard drive.
Hard drive space is not Memory. It is Storage space. Memory is the amount of RAM installed in your system, which is 4GBs of RAM.
So if you download MS Office 2011 for Mac that download will take up 3GBs of Storage Space.
Then you need to install that group of programs. Installing iot will again use more Storage Space. About 3-4GBs.
It will not use any memory, RAM, until you open, or run, one of those programs so can use it to view edit and create documents with them.
You have plenty of hard drive space and enough Memory, RAM, to use any of those programs any time you like.

  • Microsoft Office for Macbook Pro OSX Version 10.6.8

I just bought a refurbished macbook pro version 10.6.8, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions concerning which version of microsoft office should I download? Thanks in advance!

There is only one: Office 2011 for OS X.
A free alternative to Office is Libre Office. It is about 95% compatible.

  • Microsoft office onto macbook pro with retina

I recently purchased a macbook pro with retina and bought microsoft office as well. I signed up on microsoft and began to download microsoft office, but it's been in my DOWNLOADS area for a few days now and won't finish loading. I've tried going back to the site to download it again, but the other downloads are just as slow and don't finish.

I have a wireless connection. I stopped the download and started it again and it seems to get stuck in the very beginning and not move.

  • Microsoft Office for MacBook Pro

What is the earliest version of Microsoft Office for Mac that is compatable with Power PC. My old version (2004) is not compatable with my new MacBook Pro

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • How can i open and edit microsoft documents in macbook pro

how can i open and edit microsoft documents in macbook pro with retina display? I am a new user to mac book

You could install Office for Mac. You could install a free Office-like program such as LibreOffice. You could open the documents with a program like Pages. Or you could install Windows and Office on your Macbook Pro.

  • Not able to install office in macbook pro

not able to install office in macbook pro ,the problem is a version of software required to install this update was not found in this volume , tell me

There is no such thing as a free version of Microsoft Office. There are free open source clones such as Open Office, Libre Office and Neo Office. Actually, the last one used to be free. It now costs $10.

  • Microsoft Office and MacBook Air

    Hello everyone,
I have just bought a MacBook Air 13 inches (4GB) and I am about to install Microsoft Office. The problem is I remember that when I installed it on my MacBook Pro, the softwares would run very slowly and would always have bugs. Should I avoid installing Microsoft Office on my new MacBook Air ??
    Thanks for your help

I do agree but was only mentioning Pages since that offers "some" sort of compatibility...this has always been a problem with word processors.  When I was actually using WordPerfect heavily, there was conversion capability for Word documents...well, that was a major overstatement...the conversion actaully only worked on plain text.  And that was sometimes garbbled.  Tables and equations, which I use heavily as an engineer, forget it.  Not possible.  And Excel and Quattro Pro conversion was a disaster.
So I agree, before buying into a package, underestand the true capability of conversion to other formats.  And honestly assess your goals for compatibility with other products and your needs for those other products.  If you really want the features of a particular product, just buy that product and avoid conversion frustrations.
Never tried LibreOffice, may have to try it just to see what it is like.

  • I need guidance on restoring apps & MS Office to MacBook Pro

HI. I have recently had my MacBook Pro reset to factory settings, and had OS X Yosemite installed from scratch. I have taking a Time Machine backup before the laptop was passed to Apple Store for solving the upgrade to Yosemite OS X.
When I got laptop back, i was assisted by Apple genius staff until I mentioned I need to re-install MS Office, which had been installed on PC at date of purchase. I have no disk for reinstall of MS Office. Can I recovery this application from backup, or do I need to contact Microsoft to assist with its reinstallation?
There are other apps that I would want to reinstall.
ON opening the laptop, I get to a screen where I have the optio of  recovery from Time Machine backup or to continue without recovery. I was advised that I could partition the recovery files from the existing OS, so that the new OS is not over-written from backup files.
Do I re-open laptop and follow onscreen options, and select recovery from Time Machine, and then select specific files to restore? Alternatively, do I turn on my laptop, by using (Crtl/R), and use the recovery fiction to restore specific files only?
PLease advise me on the best way to perform the recovery of fils & applications from Time Machine backup. Please give instruction in a simple manner as I am not very tech experience in this subject.
    Iain

  • Microsoft documents and Macbook Pro

Hi, I have recently got a new macbook pro and am trying to transfer my microsft documents file onto it using a protable hardrive, I have downloaded microsoft office for mac but I can't seem to open 'my documents' from the hard drive.  How do I do this?

on your mac when you open up the finder window - it is usually the little face looking icon on the far left hand side of your dock at the bottom of your screen - it will show you a listing of " favorites" usually one of the favorites is documents - this is the folder that you can migrate all your word documents to from your external - just go into your external drive select all the docuemnts you want to move - click them and drag them to the " documents " folder in your finder window on your mac and then release the click once you are hovering over the documents on your mac finder window - it should then begin the transfer - and once its done you cna eject your external hard drive and then begin to open and use the documents with your new mac  - please let me know if this works
