Microsoft Office Trial Version

Hate to say, but in this day and age MS Office is almost a requirement...
I was debating whether or not to buy Office since the education price is about $100 after a mail in rebate...
I noticed the iMac has a trial version installed... after the trial period is up, is it cheaper to upgrade via download rather than buying the retail box w/ cd?

I bought the student/teacher version and when I went online to register with MS, they gave me a $35 rebate. Made the software a very good buy. I don't know how long the rebate is in effect. I bought my Office about 4 weeks ago.
Just be sure to completely uninstall the trial version. Don't just try to lay the new version over the demo.

  • How to uninstall Microsoft Office trial on Satellite A200?

I have a Satellite A200. It came with Vista Premium but I have since upgraded to Ultimate. It came with a 60 day trial for Office 2007 which I am not interested in. I installed Office XP (which works). However documents from emails etc will start opening in Word 2007. Setup for this causes an error, although it still seems to work when you get rid of the error message.
What I really want to do is uninstall the trial. However it won't let me - it goes through "Preparing to uninstall" and then that just disappears and nothing has happened and the program is still there. In the Microsoft Office folder the 2 versions seem to have become intermingled. I have uninstalled Office XP and tried to uninstall 2007 after that, but still no joy.
Don't know if it's got anything to do with fact that setup has not completed properly.
Any ideas anyone on how to get rid of it?
    Val

Usually you should be able to remove all applications in the Windows Vista -> Software settings.
What you could do is to remove the whole Office 2007 folder. Usually the Office lives the files here:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
Then you could use an 3rd party freeware application called CCleaner to clean the registry!

  • Microsoft Office:  Intel version worth the wait?

Sadly my trial has expired for Microsoft Office. It is time to get the actualy version. What I am wondering is if I should go ahead and buy the current version and let Rosetta do it's thing, or if the universal version will be considerably better and worth the wait?
    What is everyone's plans here?

Can you afford to wait at least until the end of the year? It seems to me that is the sole criterion. Usually, M$ offers pretty decent upgrade prices, if cost is a concern when Office 2007 or 08 ships. If I were in your position I'd just buy Office 2004 and plan on upgrading when the UB version comes out.
    Other options include:
    iWorks
Student/Teacher ed of Word (Not upgradable though)
Finding a cheap (but legal) copy of Office X on eBay
Trying your luck with Open Office ( http://www.openoffice.org/index.html )
Personally, I'm still using Office X. I never upgraded to Office 2004 because it just didn't offer me anything I needed and I was worn out after paying for Office 2001 and then Office X within a year's time.

  • Stupid $#@*&! 30 Day Office Trial Version..... :(

This really torks me off. I've had my new iMac for about 2 months. A 30 day trial of the latest Office. I didn't pay much attention to it though I'm quite happy with my old version of Office (X) and even happier with AppleWorks.
Anyway, the trial version decided it wanted to become my default word processor. That was fine until the trial version expired and then I couldn't open any of my documents. Crap.
I think I've deleted the trial version but my documents are still screwed up. I can't open them unless I open my original Office X and then use Office to open the document. It's very annoying. If I try double clicking on a document on my desktop, I get an error code -10660.
How do I purge this stupid trial version completely, remove all of its evil from my lovely new computer and get back to my being able to use (X)?
    Thanks.
    Brian

Your fixed W on the Dock was probably connected to the trial version. But OS X is sometimes smart enough to find the correct replacement application if it exists when the original is gone. However, it's still really a link to the trial version, so you get a second one (linked directly to the application that's actually on your hard drive) when you launch via a document.
It's an easy fix, though. Drag the W off of the Dock onto the desktop. It will disappear in a puff of smoke. Go to the MS Office folder in the Applications folder. Drag and drop the Word application wherever you want it on the Dock. A new link/icon will be created. Now you won't (shouldn't) see a second W appear on the Dock when you launch from double clicking a Word document.

  • Microsoft office what version works with OS10.3.9

I am biting the bullet and want to install Microsoft Office on my iMac. What version will be compatible with OS 10.3.9? I have no desire to upgrade my operating system at this time.

Before you buy Office, check out NeoOffice http://download.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php
NeoOffice (freeware) is equivalent to Microsoft Office. It can open Excel files, Word files & PowerPoint files. You can also create these types of files that can be opened by PC users.

  • How to delete MS Office trial version

I just moved all my software and files to my new Mac Book Pro via firewire. Sure was simple via that technique. MS Office X did move to my Applications folder, and if I click directly on, say MS Word, it opens and is registered to me. If, however, I open an MS word document, then it launches the 30-day trial version. I don't see the MS Office X folder in my Applications folder. Wondering what to do??
    Thanks

The reason is that I did not want to waste one of my three allowed installations of MS Office Student and Teacher 2004 (not that I understand how MS keeps track). The Apple system for setting up my new computer brought over one of three allowed installation of MS Office from my old Mac (and it still runs on my old Mac). I wasn't asked for a new product key.
Anyhow, I used the uninstaller on the trial version and erased only the trial version. My transferred version is now working fine and now all documents open without a dialog asking me to purchase the trial version. Interestingly, the first time I opened a powerpoint, word or excel document after erasing the trial version, I got an error message. I then drag the offending document onto the respective application icon in my transfered version and it opened. Every other document of the same type subsequently opened simply by double clicking on it.
    Thanks for your help,
    Jason

  • Get rid of Microsoft Office trial software

I purchased a G4 Power Book and it came with a trial period Microsoft Office program. I already own Office and do not need the trial software. But it opens everytime, gives me a message, and lets me know the trial period is over. It over rides my install of Office. How do I get rid of it?

  • How to register Microsoft Office on Satellite A300D?

I bought my Toshiba laptop A300D in April last. The Vista Premium was already installed. When the pop-up from Microsoft asks me to register the Office facility, or lose it after 19 more uses, I try and enter the Vista 25 digit number that is printed on the Vista Premium sticker on the back of my laptop, and I get an 'incorrect number' message.
I never have had a CD Rom for office to take the number off that case.
    What should I do, please?

For you to activate the MS Office Trial Version pre-installed on your computer, look for the Microsoft Office Activation Assistant icon on the Desktop and then open it. If it's not present there, search it on the Start Search. After opening the MS Office Activation Assistant, there is a button there that will say like request for a trial key online.
It will generate the trial version product key and that is the 25 product key that you need to use. After expiration, you need to purchase the full version for you to use it again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Regarding the microsoft office

I have set up my new HP all-in-one computer.  It say that the microsoft office is already installed.  It wants the product code.  I can't find it anywhere.  I checked out all the packaging. Can you help me. Thank you.  Polly

    pm19,
Unless you ordered and paid for Microsoft Office, the version installed is a free trial install. It usually expires in 60 days. What computer model AIO do you have?

  • Microsoft office 2008 on new macbook air

I am trying to install my old microsoft office 2008: home and student on my new macbook air with os x mavericks. Microsofts home page is telling me that this is an unsupported product. Can i still install it or do i actually have to buy a new office-package? I can't afford this and would like to use one of the two remaining users on my old office-package, since i hav only used one. Can someone help me with this?

Good question, all I can find online are updates, not full versions. Assuming that it is no longer available for download (it is 6 years old now) you will have to buy an external drive and use it to install from your discs.
    Edit:
Found a download on CNET, download it, then very carefully install it, CNET has a bad habit of 'adding' things to downloads so read what the installer dialog boxes say.
    The download is here
Here is a better source to download from, Microsoft Office 2008. version 12.3.3

Has your problem been solved by the updates??
Have a similar problem. This MacBook opened all MS Office programs in Dec2012 but no longer does in Feb2013. Went to Microsoft/mac/downloads but none of the three updates would run citing a problem "version of software needed to run this update was not found on this volume".
MacBook: 7.1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz
    Microsoft Office 2011:  version 14.2.3
    Mountain Lion: 10.8.2 (12C60)
