Is it planned to release Microsoft Office for iPad 2nd generation?
So I was surfing and found a free Microsoft Office application, which I was able to download. So is it planned also for iPad 2nd gen?
There is no "free" Microsoft Office application, you've downloaded a pirated version. You would have to ask Microsoft if they plan to make an iOS version.

Hi, just got the Microsoft Word app on my iPad mini, great app in my opinion- just would like to know if anyone has a way to switch into right to left orientation just like Pages now has.
So far the only way I could get this to work was by emailing myself a Hebrew document, erasing it all, and writing the new document in its place, which actually really worked, with true formatting and all. Thing is, I wouldn't sign myself up for 10 bucks a month for a half-baked workaround which Pages does perfectly. Otherwise, Word is awesome.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.muzheh wrote:
I wonder if that means that the iPad Word is a port of the Windows Word with some formqtting options disabled. Just wondering.
I think iPad Word is closer to Mac Word than Win Word. Mac Word, for 13 years now, has been unable to create connected Arabic text, except on a Win Word doc with some Arabic already there. I've never seen an explanation for this, but suspect it has something to do with Windows ability to embed fonts in such docs. In any case, this work around still has enough bugs that I don't think it has ever been widely used. -
Is there an actual app for Microsoft word on iPad
D'oh - knew that didn't sound right (Words vs Pages) - brain freeze.
None of these apps are very expensive - but you can get a complete office suite (DTG, etc) for less than all 3 of the iWork apps, if you (the OP) are interested in that. I've never used Pages, but some people claim that it doesn't do as good a job with Word docs as the 3rd party suites, for what it's worth - you'd have to read the reviews and do some searching on this forum to get more info.
I've read that about MS as well, but the difference between "apparently is" and "might be" is fairly small... they haven't confirmed anything beyond that they are working on some apps for the iPad - they've already released OneNote. -
Is it possible to use Microsoft excel on iPad?
Is it possible to use all the functionality of Microsoft excel on an Ipad. I can currently view spreadsheets but I can't edit, filter/sort them the way I can on my PC?

Invalid security certificate error when connecting from office for iPad
Hi,
I have Alfresco Community running on my NAS including the SharePoint protocol support and can access it from any desktop Microsoft Office application but when I try to "Add a Place" in any of the Microsoft Office for iPad apps I get the following
error message: "Cannot Connect to Site - The site doesn't have a valid security certificate." followed by "Cannot connect to Server - The server may be unavailable. Check your internet connection and try again".
I have the following configuration
- Qnap NAS with QTS 4.1.3
- JRE 8.6.0
- Tomcat 7.0.50
- Alfresco 5.0.c with Share and SPP installed
- Tomcat, Alfresco and Share configured for SSL on 8443 using a self-signed certificate
- SPP configured for SSL on 7070
- iPad Air 2, iOS 8.2 and latest office apps
- CA and server certificate installed on the desktop computers and the iPad
Share and SPP can be reached on the respective ports and I get the websites as expected. And as mentioned desktop MS office applications can access Alfresco via SPP. But I cannot get it to work with the iPad office apps.
Can anybody help with this, please? I know I am not running SharePoint but I assume the problem with the iPad office app is the same?
Thanks
Peter1. I can't say if it is sequential or not, I have never seen a message like that myself when doing add-on update checks - but I have seen other messages, like the update server not using a secure HTTPS address after that became a requirement for updates. <br />
Plus, I have never used anything from Conduit - ''the founder of that company has a shady past with different internet companies puling all dorts of "stuff", IMO. And all Conduit add-ons were removed and banned from the official add-ons website a few years ago because of their "antics" and major user uproar at the time - just recently have we seen a few return''.
2. Right-click individual addons and use ''Visit Homepage''' to see if that feature is being used as intended and where it takes you. Or use '''Find Update''' and see if that triggers that message, to discover which extensions are fro Conduit.
3. IMO, you are better off updating each extension one at a time with '''Find Update''', as I mentioned above. -
Outlook for iPad application-specific password
I am testing out Microsoft Outlook for iPad and also Outlook for iPhone. I have downloaded the latest versions of the apps on both devices. I have iOS 8.1.3 installed on both devices. The behavior question, however, is with two-step verification, and application-specific passwords. I initially setup MS Outlook for iPad, and generated an app-specific password for it, entered it, and I was then able to access my iCloud email via Outlook for iPad (I have an iPad Air). I then setup MS Outlook on my iPhone 6 Plus, generated an app-specific password for it, entered it, and I was then able to access my iCloud email via Outlook on the iPhone. I later went back to my iPad Air, and it rejected my password for iCloud. I generated another app-specific password, entered it, and I could then access my iCloud email on the iPad Air. Later, I attempted to access iCloud email on my iPhone, and it rejected the password. I had to then repeat the process, but then the same cycle occurred again. I then revoked all previously created app-specific passwords, closed both MS Outlook programs on the iPad Air and iPhone 6 Plus, and generated a new app-specific password. I opened MS Outlook for iPad, entered the newly generated password on it, and then opened MS Outlook for iPhone, and entered the SAME password on it. Both are now operating using the same password. Is this normal? I ask because gmail app-specific passwords allows me to generate a separate password for each device used, which I check using the same the same program -- MS Outlook. Further, I have Parallels installed on my MacBook Pro 15, along with Microsoft Outlook for Windows 2013, generated an app-specific password for this, and it is unaffected by the app-specific password generated for the iPad and iPhone. All work fine. I am just throwing this out there to the community to see if this is normal for the Apple app-specific password generator when using two-step verification.
If you've activated 2-step verification, you need to generate an application-specific password in your Google account and enter it instead of the login password you use on the website. You must change the password for both the incoming and the outgoing mail server. You'll need another password for contacts.

Is there an app for editing PDF documents, like adding notes to them, and a Microsoft Office for ipad 2?

Others, including cloud based
Microsoft Office Web Apps:These are versatile apps since they can be used on or off the cloud. Expect a simplified experience to the full version of Microsoft Office suite.
OnLive: Access both a degree of Windows desktop functionality and full Windows versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
CloudOn: This was one of the first solutions for iOS productivity. Syncing with Dropbox, CloudOn offers a more complete Windows desktop. The tradeoff is it also offers a more pared-down version of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
rollApp: Offers Open Office programs for iOS, also utilizing Dropbox.
LogMeIn: Remotely access your home computer's desktop from your iOS device. This solution requires coordination of logins, settings, and hookups. The free version does not offer file transfer, but you can get a separate, free app for that.
Google Docs: Now featuring Google Drive for iOS, users no longer have to battle with pressing the Refresh periodically to initiate syncing. This makes collaboration much smoother, resulting in a stronger office productivity product. -
