Microsoft OneNote crashes at startup

I recently downloaded Microsoft OneNote to my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.5 8L1). My iPhone has not been jail breaked.
But the app crashes at startup each time I try to launch it.
Any ideas why?
There is a current thread over at Microsoft Answers at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-onenote/onenote-ipho ne-app-crashes/4f1f1c9e-7ffc-4791-9dfc-3bc8b67647c7 - but they just refer to this forum.
Thanks in advance
/Jesper

Since the recent upgrades to Microsoft OneNote on my iPad 3 the app crashes at startup each time I try to launch it and it tries to automatically sync to my notebooks. This was even prior to the iOS 7 upgrade.
Any advice
Thanks
Doug

  • Microsoft outlook crashes after 10.10.1 update

    Hi All,
I just updated my OSX Yosemite from 10.10 to 10.10.1
After this update Microsoft Outlook crashes on startup.
All other Microsoft Apps work without a problem.
The error I got from the crash reporter is:

    Anyone have the same issue?

Was it crashing within seconds of launching Word, Excel or Powerpoint? I had that same issue and was able to fix (I believe) using Yosemite Cache Cleaner. There are some other possible fixes you might want to try that I outlined in this article: http://www.hightechdad.com/2014/11/24/how-to-fix-mac-office-2011-crashing-in-yos emite/

  • All microsoft Office apps crash at startup!

I hope someone can help me. I've never had a problem with Microsoft Office 2004 on my Mac (Word, Power Point and Excel apps) until now. For years I've been using the auto-updater and starting yesterday, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. all crash at startup. Even the uninstaller crashes. No point in trying to reload updaters, they all crash too.
I've tried removing preferences, checking for corrupt fonts, etc. Nothing at all is working. Can't open the apps or individual files at all.

    Can someone help me?
Will purchasing a later version of Microsoft Office for Mac help?

Personally, I really don't care for Word for Mac. I also have the 2004 version....need it for the Wife's online college classes.
    It always does something weird.
I wondering if you have some issues with your system?
First, try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job. If you have DiskWarrior, run that too.
    After that Repair Permissions.
No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.
Let us know if that helped!

  • Microsoft Money 2004 UK crashes at startup

I see there are others who've bugged this via the feedback
application, but does anyone have a work-around?
    Dave

Dave, I also have same problem with MSMoney & Win10 TPV Builds 10049 & 10061.
Windows TPV Build 10049 running Microsoft Money crashes when sync electronically to  import & balance your downloaded financial statements. This behavior is verifiable & repeatable. Did not occur in Win 10 TPV Builds 9926 & 10041,
XP, Vista, Win7, Win 8 or Win 8.1.  I wonder if this bug was introduced by adding the new Project Spartan browser to Win 10 TPV 10049.
I know MSMoney is a discontinued Microsoft product since June 2009. However, I have over 10 years of financial records in MSMoney. I purchased & tried Quicken 2015. I prefer MSMoney over Quicken 2015.  MSMoney worked fine on previous Microsoft
OSes (XP, Vista, Win7, Win 8 or Win 8.1) until Win 10 TPV Build 10041. See screenshot errors below.
So to work around the MSMoney  issues above. I installed Window 7 in Hyper-V VM just to run MSMoney & manage my finances. What a pain!!!
Quicken 2015 will be the big winner in this bug introduced in Win 10 TPV. I am an ex Microsoft employee. Worked at Microsoft for nearly 10 years. I have to agree with Paul Adar statement earlier in this conversation thread. "I too am fairly
certain that Microsoft is not overly concerned about supporting programs that are 11 years old on Windows 10. :-)"
I spent over 8 hours today exporting my 10 Plus years of Microsoft Money financial data in Quicken 2015. Sadly, the Sun is about to truly about to set on MSMoney.
My Opinion is that MSMoney is still the best Personal Finance Management Software ever released for the Windows desktop PC.
I am being forced to use Quicken. Much rather stick with good Ol' MSMoney. Running Windows 7 in a Hyper-V VM just to balance my checkbook is overkill. Like swatting a fly with a sledge hammer.

  • LabVIEW 2009 crashes at startup with the presence of a certain CRT version on the system

When installing our LabVIEW integration package on a system running
LabVIEW 2009 LabVIEW will crash at startup afterwards. Using 'dependency
walker' reveals, that 'nicont.dll' causes this crash because of a
side-by-side configuration problem. After some debugging I found out
that on this particular system installing a certain version of the
Microsoft CRT will stop LabVIEW from functioning. My fix now is to
recompile our code with a newer version of VS. I now ship a VS9 version
of the runtime and everything is working as expected.
    However
I guess the real problem lies within the LabVIEW installer. I guess a
needed version of the CRT is not installed by LabVIEW. It still works
because due to some policy files on the machine it gots defaulted to a
compatible version at startup. However when I install the following 2
merge modules on the target system LabVIEW does no longer work:
    Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86.msm (file version inside: 8.0.50727.762)
    policy_8_0_Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86.msm (file version inside: 8.0.50727.4053)
    Renaming
the *.policy file in the SxS dir on the target system gets LabVIEW back
to run, but of course other SW needing this file does not run then
I was using XP, 32 bit SP 3
I can provide additional information if needed. Is this a known problem? Is there a fixed version of LabVIEW already?
Message Edited by anotherStefan on 02-05-2010 05:44 AM

Sure! I tried to attach the installer causing the problem to this message.
However I failed miserably(BAD GATEWAY from the upstream server). Where can I upload the installer to or what do I need to do?
It will install some other stuff as well (A bunch of VIs, a DLL and an
OCX(this needs the CRT I have trouble with)and the CRT and MFC runtimes I
mentioned. An updated version of the installer can be obtain here(however it does no longer show the issue):
    http://www.matrix-vision.com/functions/count.php?url=products/hardware/family/SC/mvBlueFOX/LabVIEW_a...
The only difference between the two packages is, that the OCX in the
attached file has been build using VS2005SP1 and in the package the link
points to I did use VS2008. Apart from that I changed the 2 merge
modules from Microsoft (CRT and MFC)

Video driver in the image was originally out of date, changed the driver to the latest and greatest available straight from Intel for the Intel HD 3000 graphics card and this error still appears.  Driver 9.17.10.3517 exceeds the minimum requirement
for Lync 2013.  The faulting module is related to the graphics driver, but reinstalling does nothing, uninstalling and then reinstalling does nothing, it cannot further be upgraded.  This same error affects all the Dell latitude e6520's.  It
also only occurs in Windows 8.1.  The windows 7 image using the exact same driver version (both the outdated driver and latest driver) works just fine with Lync 2013.
Running Lync with administrative permissions does nothing, disabling hardware acceleration did nothing.  None of our laptops come with the bluetooth adapter, and also updated all other drivers such as chipset and soundcard.  Error occurs on the
RTM version of Lync, and Lync with SP1 fully updated.  The rest of Office 2013 works fine.  I am currently at a loss here short of telling the help desk to not image E6520's with Windows 8.1 because Lync 2013 doesn't work on it.  But there has
to be a reason for it.  Calling out for some suggestions here.
    Thanks!

We also have the same issue with Dell E6420 running Windows 8.1. Lync application does not respond after start-up. Did you try looking for the error file under
    C:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Reportarchive
it should create file like AppHang_lync.exe_some numbers. search for the latest one.
Interesting, I don't have any 6420's handy but figured the issue would exist on those also.  I looked up the location you mention and see many crash logs for Lync.  Not really sure what the error is, just says it stopped working.

I'm running Windows 8 64-bit, but Office 32-bit for compatibility reasons. Office 2010 and Lync 2010 worked beautifully. Other Office 2013 applications work fine. Lync 2010 client works fine as well. Only see this problem with Lync 2013.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot or correct?

    Hi,
Have you tried to remove Lync 2010 client and test it again?
How about the other machines? Please also log on the problem machine with another account and test it.
Please try to disable any local antivirus software to see if that fixes the issue.
Please remove Silverlight and reinstall it:

  • Why does my 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 crash on startup?

    Hi, folks--
My 2006 Mac Pro is regularly crashing on startup with a kernel panic. It will chime on startup and usually show me the Apple startup screen with the spinning wheel-- but after that, I get the multi-language "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again" message. Sometimes it doesn't even get there-- the spinning wheel just freezes, and stays frozen. Every once in a while, the Mac will start up, but the mouse will be so unresponsive that it takes me several minutes to mouse over to Restart so I can try again. (I've checked the mouse on another computer and it works fine.)
    Additional info:
    • I have one SSD startup disk with Lion, and two HDD startup disks with Snow Leopard. Starting up with any of these three disks results in the problems described above. This suggests to me that it's a hardware problem, rather than a problem with a specific startup disk.
    • I tried starting up from my Snow Leopard Install disk. It was able to start up successfully. All the data on my hard drives seemed to be intact, including Lion Install, so I tried re-installing Lion on my SSD. It showed the blue progress bar for a minute. Then it said it would restart my computer in 30 seconds-- at which point, I once again got the multi-language "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button ETC" crash. If even the install disk is crashing, this again suggests a hardware problem.
    • I set the Mac Pro to target mode, and used it as a startup disk for my wife's Macbook. It functioned just fine and there were no crashes. Again, confirmation that it is a hardware problem with my Mac Pro.
    • I have zapped the PRAM. I have also run Disk Utility, repaired permissions, and verified the disk. This did not fix the issue. (Not surprising if it is a hardware problem.)
    • HOWEVER:  I put in the install disk that came with the computer originally and was able to complete the Hardware Test. I chose the most thorough option. It did not find any problems.
    • This started happening three days ago. I'm not aware of any recent changes to the system that could have caused this. The most recent change I made was installing a Radeon HD 5770  graphics card and an SSD drive, more than a month ago. There was no sign of trouble after I installed either of them (except for some problems putting the Mac Pro to sleep, which is apparently a known issue with the Radeon 5770 in this model Mac Pro).
    • Weirdly, after I fiddle with the Mac Pro for an hour or so (run diagnostics, reboot it repeatedly, etc) it seems to start working. If there is indeed a hardware problem, then perhaps something works better when it's warmed up.
Is there anything you'd suggest I try? Or am I stuck lugging it to the Genius Bar? I don't have a car, so this is a bit of a pain…
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Thanks, The Hatter. I'm working through all the links you've provided and see if I can narrow down the problem.
And, Grant, thanks as well-- I really appreciate the specific information. You've enabled me to track down the panic log -- but they are indeed baffling. I'm pasting one below, in case somebody wiser than I can interpret it for me.

  • Bridge CS6 crashes on startup after upgrade from CS5

Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe.  Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working.  Windows is searching for a solution...").  Bridge CS5 still works great, as it did before the CS6 installation.

I've rebooted multiple times and tried reinstalling from the upgrade disk, but the problem persists.
The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below.  I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files.  To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point.  Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.
    David

Thanks Curt, but this is not a virus issue.  Think about it, how could the ntdll.dll file be virus infected and yet only impact the running of this single application?  That really wouldn't make sense now would it?  That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files.  The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer.  I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail.  I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work.  I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works.

  • My game keeps crashing on startup

Every time i try to open the game, it crashes on startup :(

  • Itunes crashing on startup - Windows 8.1

Hi since upgrading to Windows 8.1 I've had nothing but problems with itunes.  Since downloading the latest Microsoft release for 8.1 my Itunes constantly crashes on startup. I've tried removing and reinstalling itunes, still didnt work. I then  tried running itunes in various compatibility modes eg windows 7 etc, still not working.  To be honest I feel this is a poor show that two major worldwide programs fail to work together on Windows 8.1.  Any help in getting itunes to work would be gratefully received. Thanks J

Have you gotten any help with this issue anywhere else?

  • I cannot launch Firefox, because it crashes on startup

    Hello,
I have problem, if I launch FIrefox, it will crash on startup, but if I will reinstall it, it still doesn´t work. Problem has started, when I actualized WIndows. I have Windows 7 and i didn´t experienced crash all time, only this time. It could be launched two days in safe mode, but today it doesn´t work completely. ID of crash is: bp-fadbeea0-a273-45d1-b178-9bc0b2130727

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
    * [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
    * [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.

  • Reader X unusable - crashes on startup

I installed (and uninstalled) Adobe Reader X several times on my main PC (XP SP3), but it keeps crashing on startup and is therefore unusable.  .
Any suggestions, apart from going back to version 9?

    Thanks for your reply.
I'm not sure it is worth sending a screenshot. It is just a standard Microsoft crash message saying: "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry forf the inconvenience" etc.
I can't launch Reader X at all, i.e. the crash happens every time I try and open a PDF file or the Reader application.
